JUDY CONWAY
GROVE, Okla. - Judy Ann Conway of Grove passed away Thursday, February 6, 2003 at the Grove Nursing Center. She was 72.
Judy was born March 10, 1930 near Sterling, in Comanche County, Okla., to Ida Doebel and John Febring. She grew up in the area attending Sterling schools and graduatied from high school in 1948. Judy married Alvin Conway, at Oakley, Kan., formerly of the Sterling Area, on October 1, 1949 at Our Lady's Church in Sterling. For the next 45 years she lived on a farm near Oakley where she helped Alvin with the farm and the Grade A dairy they had for years. In 1994 they retired and moved to Grove.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; six children, Ron Conway and wife Rhonda, of Holcomb, Kan., Don Conway and wife Judy, of Dodge City, Kan., Jeanne Janzen and husband Kenneth, of Krebs, Okla., Kenny Conway and friend Trish, of St. Mary's, Kan., Dennis Conway and wife Jo Ann, of Garden City, Kan. and Patricia (Pat) Waldman of Grinnel, Kan.; one brother Richard Febring, of Hasting, Okla.; four sisters Mary Ann Conway, Evelyn Jacobi, both of Duncan, Okla., Catherine Schettler of Elgin, Okla. and Alice Baldon of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren John, Jeff, Megan and Melissa Conway, of Holcomb, Shawn Conway, of Dodge City, Kevin and Sarah Janzen, of Krebs, Amy and Jennifer Conway, of Garden City, Krista and Chase Waldman, of Grinnell.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m., Monday, February 10, at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Grove. Father Alex Kennedy will officiate. Rosary services will be at 6 p.m., Sunday, at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. Burial will be in Oakley. Donations may be made to the Good Shepherd Hospice in Grove.

ROBERT W. COUNTRYMAN
BERNICE, Okla. - Robert W. Countryman, 60-year old Bernice resident, passed away at his residence Sunday afternoon, March 9, 2003. Robert was born November 30, 1942, to Fate and Gertrude (Gayrock) Countryman.
Robert was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Afton. He was a truck driver for 33 years. Robert drove for Wal-Mart for six years and Bama Pies for 11 years. He owned and operated R.W. Trucking Company for 10 years. Robert also served in the U.S. Army. In 1967 Robert was united in marriage to Mary F. Dawson in Miami, Okla.
Robert is survived by his wife, Mary of the home; mother, Gertrude Countryman of Bernice; one brother, Howard Countryman of Bernice; two sisters, Alonza Morris and husband, Bill of Grove and Thelma Ratzloff and husband, Larry of Lathrop, Mo.; five nephews; six nieces; and a host of friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Fate Countryman and a brother, Clyde Countryman.
The family will gather at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita to receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, March 11, from 7 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 12, at 2 p.m., at the Assembly of God Church in Afton. Burial is to follow at Ballard Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home, Vinita.

GENEVA CREEKKILLER
EUCHA, Okla.- Geneva Creekkiller, 82, died Saturday, February 8, 2003 at Monroe Manor, in Jay, Okla. after months of illness.
Geneva Ella (Buzzard) Creekkiller was born on January 6, 1921, to Jackson Buzzard and Sara (Smoke) Buzzard in Jay. She was a member of Hillside Baptist Church and loved going to Church. She was a homemaker and resided in the Eucha area all of her life with her husband Homer Creekkiller, who preceded in her in death. She was quiet and never said much, but she loved everybody.
She is survived by her daughter Virginia Jumper and husband Wallace; four grandchildren--one she raised as her own--Harvey Creekkiller of the home, Junior Jumper and Roger Jumper, of Jay and Carol Brock of Jay; and three great grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 11, at Hillside Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Kingfisher officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay.
Services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay.

BONNIE LOU COOK
SOUTHWEST CITY, Mo. - Mrs. Bonnie Lou Cook, 67, of Southwest City, died on Sunday, January 19, 2003 at 11:49 a.m. at her home after an illness. Bonnie Lou Cook was born on September 28, 1935 in Tulsa, Okla. to George Washington and Stella Marie (Saltz) Pryor. She had lived in Southwest City since 1977, coming from Tulsa. She attended the Southwest City First Baptist Church. She worked for the last 10 years at Braum's in Grove, where she was the assistant manager until her illness. She also worked on the family farm and in other family businesses.
She married M.L. Cook on April 13, 1956 in Tulsa. He survives of the home in Southwest City. Additional survivors include: three sons, Marlon Cook, Jr. of Claremore, Okla., Jame Richard Cook of Foyil, Okla., and Billy Ray Cook of Anderson, Mo.; three daughters, Deborah Marie Inman of Wyandotte, Okla., Karen Lynne Miller of Southwest City, Sharon Renee Crabtree of Foyil; four brothers George Pryor of Titusville, Fla., Curtis Pryor of Langley, Okla., Claude Pryor of Hulbert Okla. and Bill Pryor of Wyandotte; one sister, Alice Tobin of Collinsville, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grand child.
She was preceded death by her parents and one sister, Mary Virginia Pryor.
Funeral services for Bonnie Lou Cook will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Southwest City, Mo. Rev. Ray Clanton will officiate. Burial will be in the Southwest City Cemetery in Southwest City.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Cook, Herman Crabtree, Chance Miller, Chris Douglas, Jim Easter and Robbie Easter. Honorary pallbearers will be John Walker and Jimmy Easter.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 20, 2003 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ozark Funeral Home in Southwest City, at which time the family will receive friends.

MARY JEANNE CREITZ
GROVE - Mary Jeanne Creitz, 82, of Grove died Monday, February 3, 2003, at the Grove Nursing Center following several months of failing health. She was a homemaker and a church and community volunteer.
She was born on August 9, 1920, in Parsons, Kan., to Cedric and Fern (Newton) Edwards. She grew up and attended schools in Parsons, graduating from Parsons High School in 1937. On January 23, 1948, she married Dana L. Creitz. Mr. Creitz was a pharmacist, and they resided in Parsons until retiring to Grove in 1976. He died in 1996.
Survivors include: a son, Dana, Jr. of Parsons; a daughter, Cristy Creitz Cox of Tulsa, Okla.; and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Creitz was a member of the First United Methodist Church and had been active in several community organizations.
In accordance with Mrs. Creitz’s wishes, her body has been cremated and no formal memorial service is planned. A reception to honor her life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 8, in the fellowship hall at First United Methodist Church of Grove.
Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church or to the Grove Public Library.

EDETH RUTH LUNDY GIBSON CULVER
JOPLIN, Mo. - Edeth Ruth Lundy Gibson Culver died May 10, 2003 after a short illness at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin. She was 62.
Edeth was born October 20, 1940 to Homer and Shirley (Evertson) Lundy in Fowler, Colo., at the home of her grandparents, Joe and Lula Lundy.
Edeth attended Carter School until eighth grade. She graduated from Afton High School in 1959. She received a business degree from the Joplin Business College in 1959.
Edeth was a life-long member of the Carter Baptist Church.
Edeth was an Assistant vice president of the First National Bank of Vinita/Grove, where she was employed for over 30 years.
Edeth married Kenneth Sewell Gibson on December 19, 1959 in Vinita, Okla. He preceded her in death on September 7, 1995. Edeth married Howard Sylvanius Culver on November 30, 1996 in Afton, Okla., who survives. She is also survived by two sons, Kent Dale Gibson and wife, Debbie, of Delaware, Okla. and Keith DeWayne Gibson and wife, Terry of Afton, Okla.; a stepson, Dusty Howard Culver of Bixby, Okla.; stepdaughter, Crystal Gail Bolles of Bixby; seven grandchildren, Keely Gibson, Whitney Gibson, Tyler Gibson, Kohlsyn Gibson, Shelby Gibson, Keaton Gibson and Hailey Rosetta Bolles; her mother, Shirley Lundy of Afton; two brothers Homer J. Lundy and wife, Carol of Miami, Okla., and Chris D. Lundy and wife, Donna of Afton; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Dean Crane of Bernice, Okla., Reva and Jim Colvin of Atlanta, Ga., Elsa and Wayne Johnson of Afton, Nancy and Mike Newcomb of Cleora, Okla., Beth and Charles Marsh of Neosho, Mo.; and 20 nieces and nephews.
Her father, Homer G. Lundy and brother, Phillip G. Lundy and nephew, Craig Crane preceded Edeth in death.
Services will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2003 at 2 p.m. in the Afton High School gymnasium.
Honorary casket bearers are Charles, Bob, Vearl, LeRoy, John Clarence and Carl Ray Gibson.
Casket bearers are Lance, Matt and Buck Marsh, Eric Johnson, Cory Newcomb and James Colvin.
The family will receive friends at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel from 6 to 7 p.m., Monday, May 12. Arrangements provided by Luginbuel Funeral Home, Vinita.

HARRY CUMMINGS
Harry Cummings, 87, of Grove, formerly of Pittsburg, died at 9:45 p.m., Saturday, September 27, 2003 at his home in Grove.
He was born March 28, 1916 at Pittsburg to Harry and Nellie (Roach) Cummings. Mr. Cummings was a graduate of Pittsburg High School. After graduation, he was employed by the Kansas City Southern Railroad. Mr. Cummings was a veteran serving as a Sergeant in the 27th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army, during World War II. He saw heavy action on Saipan and Okinawa, where he was wounded twice. Mr. Cummings received two Purple Hearts. After the war, he returned to the railroad working for 36 years, he retired as an engineer in June 1976. He moved to Grove in 1992.
He was united in marriage on July 1, 1948 to Julia Variot. She preceded him in death on October 10, 1974. He married Ruth Wells on April 25, 1975. She survives of the home.
Mr. Cummings was a member of the Benjamin A. Fuller Post #64, of the American Legion, the Pittsburg Masonic Lodge #187, and the Mirza Shrine Temple.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a stepson, Bill Wells, two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a niece, Becky Norrie, and a nephew, Fred McGehee.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth McGehee.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 2, 2003, at the Brenner Mortuary Chapel with Sam Carper officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery, where the flag folding will be provided by the Benjamin A. Fuller Post #64, of the American Legion. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m., until service time on Thursday, at the Brenner Mortuary Chapel, where friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E 4th Street, Pittsburg, KS.

CHARLES LUTHER "CHINK" DARNELL
GROVE, Okla. - Charles Luther "Chink" Darnell, 99, died Friday, December 19, 2003 at his home in Grove.
Charles was born November 25, 1904 in rural Ottawa County, Indian Territory to Lorenzo Dow Darnell and Sonora Victoria Matoy. He went to school at Fairland and Lone Star west of Fairland. "Chink" was the youngest of five children; all have preceded him in death.
Charles married Georgia Louise Long on December 8, 1923 in Miami, Okla. They celebrated their 80th Wedding Anniversary earlier this year on June 21, 2003.
"Chink" worked various highway construction jobs in Oklahoma and Missouri until moving to California in 1943 where he worked in Naval shipyards until the end of W.W.II. Then he worked for contractor who maintained citrus and walnut groves in Covina, Calif. area. Charles and Georgia moved to Northern California in 1956 to raise beef cattle and at times he worked on hard rock tunnel construction jobs such as the Oroville Dam Project, one of the highest dams in the U.S. After living in California for 30 years, they returned to Okla., settling in Grove in 1976. They retired to the Hickory Point area in 1979.
They had three children, all born in Okla. Charles was preceded in death by his son, Bill Darnell, in 1984.
Survivors include; wife Georgia; daughter Wilma Wildhaber and husband Harry of Afton, Okla.; daughter-in-law Patricia Darnell, Bill's widow of Englewood, Fla.; son Larry Darnell ad wife Patricia of Schewnksville, Pa.; grandchildren Stephen Darnell and wife Elda and children Jerett and Emily; John Darnell and wife Stephanie and children Cullen, Andrew, and Moira of Wyoming, Mich., Lisa Nero and husband David and children Christopher, Matthew, and Ally of Englewood, Fla.; Kelly (Darnell) Bencken and husband Dan and children Danny, Nicholas, and Sarah of Sacramento, Calif.; Tami Darnell and husband Esteban Zacarias and daughter Lucinda of Sacramento, Calif.; and Victoria (Darnell) Reily and husband John and children Marissa, Megan, and Darrel of Minneapolis, Minn.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, December 22, 2003 at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home in Miami.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home Chapel in Miami with Rev. Jack Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Fairland Cemetery in Fairland, Okla.. Pallbearers will included Bill Gann, James Gann, and Lloyd Collins.
Memorials to Good Shepherd Hospice in care of the funeral home.

VICTORIA NAOMI (SECONDINE) DAUGHERTY
CLAREMORE, Okla.-Victoria Naomi (Secondine) Daugherty, 85 year old lifetime area resident, passed away Tues., July 8, 2003 at Claremore Nursing home.
Victoria was born Jan. 6, 1918 in White Oak, Okla. to Anderson William Secondine and Rosa (White) Secondine. She attended Kelley Elementary School and graduated from White Oak High School in 1936. She worked for Craig County as a Ration Officer during WW II and retired as a cook at Eastern State Hospital. Victoria was a member of the Alter Society of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Head Lady of the Shawnee Ceremonials and a Tribal Historian.
Victoria was united in marriage to John Daugherty, Sr. on June 19, 1936 in Nowata, Okla. He preceded her in death in August of 1957.
Her parents, one daughter, Patricia Dilliner, one brother, and three sisters also preceded her in death.
Surviving Family members include: one daughter, Sherry Gardner and husband Joe of Claremore, three sons, Steve Daugherty and wife Sharon of Neosho, Mo., John Daugherty, Jr. and wife Susan of Edmond, Okla., Ronald Gene (Rusty) Daugherty of White Oak, ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Fri., July 11 at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Father Alex Kennedy will officiate. Special speaker will be Chris White. Interment will be in Lewis-Shawnee Cemetery.
Shawnee Graveside Rites will be performed by Troy Littleaxe with singers George Valliere, James Squirell and Bret Barnes. Rosary Service was held at 7:00 p.m.,, Thurs., July 10 at the Shawnee Ceremonial Building in White Oak. Services are under the direction of Burckhalter Funeral Home in Vinita.
