“Butch” Walter William Wilson

“Butch” Walter William Wilson, 67, of Newberg, Oregon passed away on October 18th, 2009 with his family by his side. Butch was born in New York on August 20, 1942. He married Catherine Cuppernell and the couple moved to Oregon in 2002 to be close to their children. Butch loved his bible and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Catherine; 3 daughters, Laurie Schroder, Linda Bedley and Leah Usary; son, David Wilson; 3 sisters, Barbara Egan, Shirley Brownnell and Beverly Moore; Brother Wallace Wilson; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

There will be a private family celebration of life for Butch. Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center, Tualatin.

Earl Rogers Webster
November 2nd 1918 – October 15, 2009

Earl was born in Hillsboro, Oregon to Frank Earl Webster and Ava Grace Webster.

Earl and Maxine celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on April 17th, 2009. Earl’s career was that of a self employed excavator. He retired in 1985. Maxine is a homemaker.

The Webster’s are both members of the United Methodist Church of Sherwood. Earl is a member of the Sherwood Masonic Lodge #164. He is a life member of the Tigard Orenomah Lodge #174 and the Rebekah Rainbow Lodge #212 of Sherwood.

Earl is survived by his wife Maxine, Children Susan (Bill) Pederson of North Plains, Oregon, Virginia (Mike) Prever of Cathlamet, Washington, Margaret “Jo” (Sam) Cromwell of Tigard, Oregon and Roger Webster of Albuquerque, New Mexico. They also have 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on October 19th, 2009 at the United Methodist Church of Sherwood. There will be a family graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center, Tualatin.

Sharon Louise Hand
December 27, 1943 – October 14, 2009

Sharon Louise Hand was born in Detroit, MI to George & Helen (Douglas) Coleman. She grew up in Michigan, and eventually moved to Oregon in 1985. Sharon worked at Michael’s craft store, no doubt to get a discount on the materials she used for her passion: crocheting. Her other passion was gardening, but her true love was for Spencer – her Llaso Apso.

Sharon is survived by her brother, Donald Coleman, 2 grandchildren and 4 nephews. She was preceded in death by her children; Donald & Jean Hand, and her beloved dog: Spencer. There will be a Memorial Service on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Gladstone Christian Church. Arrangements were made by Crown Memorial Center – Milwaukie.

Leland Appel

Leland Appel, of Portland, passed away at his home on October 14, 2009 at the age of 72. Leland was born and raised in Stewartville, Minnesota, before joining the Navy. While in the Navy, he achieved the rank of Officer. After he retired from the military in 1976, Leland became a Small Engine Repairman. He liked to tinker with small engines in his time outside of work as well.

Leland is survived by his daughter, Jamie, and 3 grandchildren, Charles and Jeannie Collins and Jessie Moretz. There is no service planned at this time. Arrangements were made with Crown Memorial Center – Milwaukie.

Rev. Karl Langrock
01/26/1927 - 10/14/2009

The Rev. Karl Frederick Langrock died at home in Wilsonville. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, in Living Savior Lutheran Church, 8740 S.W. Sagert St., Tualatin. Born in Toeterville, Iowa, he spent his younger years in Mitchell County, Iowa. After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to ‘46. In 1949, he earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from University of Northern Iowa; a master’s degree in economics from University of Iowa in 1951; a Bachelor of Divinity from Lutheran School of Theology in Maywood, Ill., in 1955; and was ordained into the ministry. He married Rose Marie Meyer June 4, 1950. In 1951 he worked for Bankers Life Co. in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a pastor from 1955 to 1969 in Milwaukee, and Franklin Park and Deerfield, Ill. Rev. Langrock served on the board of trustees of Lutheran Welfare Services of Illinois in 1962, and was president of the board from 1968 to ‘70; associate director of development at Berea College in Kentucky in 1969; president of Grand View College for 16 years beginning in 1972 and led the school from a junior college to a four-year bachelor of arts degree-granting institution; president of the Council of Lutheran Church in America Colleges in 1978; member of the Iowa Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, on the board of directors from 1972 to 1987, chairman in 1986-’87. In 1989 he was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Letters degree from GVC. He retired first to Des Moines and a summer place at Long Lake, Wis., before moving to the Pacific Northwest. They traveled extensively, including China, Germany, Denmark, Australia and New Zealand. They attended many jazz festivals all over the West Coast. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee H. and Alice D. (Grube) Langrock; and sisters, Adeline and Hildgard. Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Rose Marie; daughter, Laura (Rick) Croshaw of Sherwood; son, Charles (Debra) Langrock of Des Moines; sister, Lenore (Neal) Winkler; three nieces; two nephews; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Social Services of Illinois or Grand View University.

Arlo Mitchell Martindale
May 21, 1946 - October 13, 2009

Arlo Mithchell Martindale, known as Arlo to some and Mitch to others, was born May 21, 1946 in Burley, ID to Albert & Florence (Shandy) Martindale. Raised in Burley, he moved to Oregon in 1964 as a young man of 18. Mitch worked as an iron worker for Portland Wire & Iron, and loved his motorcycles on his off time. He is survived by his companion, Darlene Fesler, daughters; Tobi Martindale, Meshell Rogers, Dawn Marie Castro, sons; Race Martindale, Jeffrey Martindale, James Searles, and Joshua Searles. Arlo is also survived by his brothers; Clinton, Lloyd and Jessie Martindale, sisters; Theresa Schoonover, Eunice Boden, Ileata Winningham, Audra Baarnes, Twilla Hayden, and Doreen DeAngeles. Mitch was preceded in death by his parents and one sister; LaRee Martindale.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 1 pm at the Milwaukie Covenant Church on Linwood Avenue. Arrangements were by Crown Memorial Center in Milwaukie.

Adrienne Baggenstos

Oregon native, Adrienne Baggensos, passed away on October 13, 2009, in Portland. Adrienne was born on July 8, 1920, in Milwaukie, Oregon. She attended Milwaukie High School before working in the shipyards during the war. She also worked at Montgomery Ward, and then went on to work in the mail order industry for 40 years. Adrienne was known to spend her free time playing bridge, tending to her yard and six great-grandchildren, and spending time with animals.

Adrienne is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Grendele, of Portland, grandchildren, Michael Moore of Gresham, Patrick Moore of Beaverton, and Tracy LaFlamme of Beaverton, and six great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that all contributions be made to the Humane Society. Arrangements were Crown Memorial Center – Milwaukie.

Ann Doll “Annie”
November 15, 1922 – October 12, 2009

Ann Doll, 86, passed away on October 12, 2009 at Hope Village in Canby, Oregon. Annie was born on November 15, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois to Walter H. and Verna Lee Atkinson. Annie lived much of her early years in Harvey, Illinois. Annie married Warren H. Doll on July 9, 1941 in Chicago Illinois. She was a homemaker primarily and at one time worked for the Illinois telephone company. Annie and Warren lived in Yelm, Washington for 10 years and moved to Oregon in September of 1984. Warren passed away in February 1985. Annie loved walking, reading, animals, and most of all Annie loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Annie is survived by daughter Susie and her husband Bill Crooks of Canby, Oregon; granddaughter, Joelle and her husband Troy Anderson of Tigard, Oregon; grandson, Marc Crooks of Canby, Oregon; and great grandchildren McKenna Anderson (12) and Gabrielle Anderson (4). Annie is preceded in death by her husband Warren Doll (1985); son, Jerry Doll (1998), and grandson, Grant William Anderson (2003).

A private family service will be held for Annie. In lieu of flowers please send a memorial donation in Ann Doll’s name to the Oregon Humane Society, at www.oregonhumane.org/. Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center – Tualatin.
