Aileen Beckendorf-Critchlow

Aileen Beckendorf-Critchlow, 94, of Medford, died Thursday (March 29, 2001) at Three Fountains Nursing Center. No service is planned.

She was born Aug. 5, 1906, in Hamilton, Kan., a daughter of Henry and Mary Ott. On Oct. 10, 1926, in Stockton, Calif., she married Lowell H. Beckendorf, who died in 1980. On May 15, 1992, in Sacramento, Calif., she married Emmitt Critchlow, who died in 1997. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1998 from San Jose, Calif.

Mrs. Beckendorf-Critchlow worked as a welder in the shipyards during World War II. She later worked as a salesperson for the Emporium, retiring after 25 years.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Concord, Calif., and in San Francisco.

Mrs. Beckendorf-Critchlow enjoyed sewing and knitting.

Survivors include two sons, Lowell H. Beckendorf Jr., Medford, and Paul W. Beckendorf, Chicago; a sister, Lenore Lancaster, Falon, Mo.; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.

Lewis C. Morgan

The graveside service for Lewis C. Morgan will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Siskiyou Memorial Park. The Rev. J.C. Holden, of the Salvation Army, will officiate.

Mr. Morgan, 85, of Medford, died Thursday (March 29, 2001) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 922 N. Central Ave., Medford, OR 97501.

He was born Dec. 18, 1915, in Grants Pass, a son of William and Mary (Steele) Morgan.

Mr. Morgan worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps during the early 1940s on Prescott Park and other Southern Oregon projects. He then worked as a lumber loader for Alley Bros. Lumber and Steve Wilson Lumber, retiring in 1970.

He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and camping and traveling to historical sites. He also enjoyed reading.

Survivors include three sons, Mel, Donald L., and Richard G., all Medford; two daughters, Linda J. Shute, Sams Valley, and Judith A. Miller, Dayton, Nev.; a sister, Ruth Craig, White City; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Jerald, Dick and Mick; and a sister, Wilma.

Ben L. Martin

The funeral Mass for Ben L. Martin will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. William Dillard will officiate.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Perl Funeral Home Chapel with Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford.

Mr. Martin, 83, of Medford, died Friday (March 30, 2001) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Community Health Foundation, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504.

He was born Sept. 12, 1917, in Toledo, Ohio, a son of Fred and Aura Martin. On Nov. 22, 1941, in Toledo, he married Mary "Kay" Larkin, who survives. They moved to Roseburg from Toledo in 1946, and to Medford in 1970.

Mr. Martin was vice president and general manager of West Coast Operations of Martin Bros. Container & Timber Products Corp., a family business, until his retirement.

He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

Mr. Martin was involved in many volunteer projects, including as van driver and finance committee member for Providence Hospital and as a participant in the Providence Festival of Trees.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Fred J., Bellevue, Wash.; three daughters, Carole Jacobs, Barbara Kuhn and Sally Allen, all Portland; nine brothers and sisters; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael F.; a brother and a sister.

Louis Francis Duggan

The memorial Mass for Louis Francis Duggan will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. William Dillard will officiate.

Rosary will be recited at 8 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Mr. Duggan, 78, of Talent, died Thursday (March 29, 2001) at his home.

He was born Aug. 7, 1922, in Reading, Kan. On Feb. 11, 1945, in Santa Rosa, Calif., he married Juanita Dailey, who died in 1995. On Feb. 21, 1997, in Ashland, he married Kathleen Brodeur, who died in 1999.

Mr. Duggan was an electrician in the timber and construction business, working out of the Medford Union Hall. After his retirement as an electrician, he worked at Associated Fruit Packers Co.

He was a member of the Talent Lions Club, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the Medford Elks Lodge.

Mr. Duggan enjoyed working in his shop, gardening and dancing.

Survivors include three sons, Daniel J., Goldendale, Wash., Thad, Coos Bay, and Perry, Daytona Beach, Fla.; three brothers, Vern, Sacramento, Calif., Joe, Santa Rosa, and Pat, Manhattan, Kan.; two sisters, Agnes Perkins, Brentwood, Calif., and Ruth Craig, Cincinnati; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son and a brother.

Olyve Marie Brown

The memorial service for Olyve Marie Brown will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Central Valley Cremation and Funeral Care, Central Point.

Mrs. Brown, 79, of Medford, died March 22, 2001, at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Community Health Foundation, Hospice, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504.

She was born Feb. 26, 1922, in Memphis, Texas, the daughter of Oliver and Ruby Arnett. On June 5, 1972, in Anaheim, Calif., she married Frank Brown, who survives. They lived in Sprague River from 1973 to 1997, when they moved to the Rogue Valley.

Mrs. Brown was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Lioness Club in Sprague River.

Mrs. Brown enjoyed the ocean, collecting shells, traveling and gardening.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Sharlene Hall, Medford; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Don Poland.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation and Funeral Care, Central Point.

Foy ‘Don’ May

Foy "Don" May, 81, of Medford, died Thursday (March 29, 2001) at his home. A private celebration of his life has been held. Inurnment will be at Olivewood Memorial Park in Riverside, Calif.

Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Community Health Foundation, Hospice, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504, or to a favorite charity.

He was born Sept. 10, 1919, in Byers, Okla. On June 27, 1975, in Santa Rosa, Calif., he married Charlena "Ernie" Davis, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley eight years ago from Santa Rosa.

Mr. May had a varied career. He worked in ranching, in the aircraft business, during the war in an aircraft plant, then owned and operated an aircraft dealership and charter flying business. The major part of his life was spent in the automobile industry, owning used car lots and working in sales. He retired from Hewlett Packard in Santa Rosa as a quality control inspector in 1985.

He served in the California Air National Guard.

Mr. May enjoyed boating, fishing, flying, traveling in his RV and working with mechanical things.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Michele Browning, Idyllwild, Calif., and Shirley Gibson, Riverside, Calif.; two sons, Larry Don, Chatsworth, Calif., and Foy Don "Skip, " Escondido, Calif.; two brothers, Billie D., Cleveland, Okla., and Mancel A., Kingsland, Texas; two sisters, Zelpha Nichols, Tulsa, Okla., and Joyce Pulliam, Clearwater, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, a grandson and a granddaughter.

Iva Nola Day

The memorial service for Iva Nola Day will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pastor Jim Berglund of the Seventh-day Adventist Church will officiate.

Mrs. Day, 88, of Medford, died Thursday (March 29, 2001) at Medford Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

She was born May 25, 1912, in Moscow, Kan., the daughter of Edmund J. and Nola C. Kiras. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1947 from Dos Palos, Calif. On Jan. 1, 1978, she married Willard O. Day, who survives.

Mrs. Day was a homemaker. She was a member of the Medford Grange and the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

She enjoyed fishing, camping and hand crafts.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Harold Martin, El Paso, Ark.; a daughter, Leota Walters, Canyonville; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
