Clifton V. Conover

Clifton Valentine Conover, 85, of Eagle Point, died Sunday (April 30, 2000) at a foster care home in Central Point. No service is planned. Interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Eagle Point Museum, 144 N. Royal Ave., Eagle Point, OR 97524.

He was born Feb. 14, 1915, in Eagle Point, a son of Alvin and Anna (Johnson) Conover.

He married Betty Robinson, who died in 1999.

Mr. Conover worked for Double D Lumber in Central Point. He was also a cattle rancher. He lived in the Rogue Valley his entire life.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Conover was a member of the Cattlemen's Association and the Grange.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and three-wheeling on the beach.

Survivors include a stepson, Kenneth Williams, Eagle Point; a stepdaughter, Virginia Pfenninger, Sams Valley; 10 step-grandchildren; 21 step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Clifton Hollis Conover; a stepson, Billy Williams; two stepdaughters, Betty Ann Glenn and Shirley Jolliffe; and a brother, Victor.

Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives.

Leonard 'Lenny' Sable

Leonard "Lenny" F. Sable, 62, of Ruch, died Sunday (April 30, 2000) at his home. A memorial service will be held later.

He was born June 28, 1937, in Kansas City, Kan., a son of George and Agnes (Olson) Newell. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1977 from Minnesota.

Mr. Sable was employed in public transportation in Minneapolis, Medford and Salem. Before moving to Oregon, he worked for the city of Edina and Hennington County Park Reserve District in Minnesota.

He enjoyed music and played the organ. He was also interested in nature, local history and artifacts of the past, and was known for his storytelling and humor.

Survivors include his companion of 40 years, Larry Ladwig, Ruch; two brothers, Floyd Sable and James Newell, both Minneapolis; and two sisters, Nancy Downey and Judy Sorenson, both Minneapolis.

Steve A. Benston

The memorial service for Steve A. Benston will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Central Point Community Bible Church. Pastor Pete Slusher will officiate.

Mr. Benston, 92, of Central Point, died Monday (May 1, 2000) at Medford Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

He was born Oct. 15, 1907, in Spanaway, Wash.

On Nov. 29, 1930, he married Eva Mae Robi, who survives.

Mr. Benston was a barber in Central Point for many years.

Survivors include a son, Dexter; a daughter, Barbara Story; and five grandchildren.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation and Funeral Care.

Stephen Dean Knapp

The vigil for Stephen Dean Knapp will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel, 2655 Eureka Way, Redding, Calif. The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Neighborhood Church of Redding, 777 Loma Vista Drive, Redding, Calif. Chaplain Lupe Phillips will officiate. Interment will be in Redding Cemetery.

Mr. Knapp, 44, of Eagle Point, formerly of Redding and Yreka, Calif., died Friday (April 7, 2000) in an automobile accident on Highway 89 in Siskiyou County.

He was born June 23, 1955, in Redding, Calif. He was a graduate of Yreka High School.

Mr. Knapp was a logger for 20 years. He lived in Yreka, Calif., from 1967 to 1974, and in Eagle Point for the past 19 years.

Survivors include a son, Juan B., Eagle Point; his mother, Carlie Guinn, Scott Bar, Calif; his father and stepmother, Dale and Shelley Knapp, Redding; three brothers, Chuck Knapp, Prineville, Kenneth Guinn, Scott Bar, Calif, and Daniel Knapp, Milpitas, Calif.; two sisters, Wendy Guinn, Horse Creek, Calif., and Stacy Gribb, Folkston, Ga.; and his grandmother, Irma Proper, Redding.

Friends may pay their respects from noon until 7 p.m. Thursday at Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel in Redding, Calif.

Catherine Rose Knapp

The vigil for Catherine Rose Knapp will be at 7 p.m. Thursday in Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel, Redding. The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Neighborhood Church of Redding. Chaplain Lupe Phillips will officiate. Interment will be in Redding Cemetery.

Mrs. Knapp, 41, of Eagle Point, died Friday (April 7, 2000) at Mercy Medical Center in Mount Shasta, Calif., from injuries from an automobile accident.

She was born Oct. 19, 1958, in Carlsbad, N.M. She moved to Eagle Point 19 years ago.

Mrs. Knapp was executive chef for Fountain Plaza Retirement Home in Medford for seven years.

Survivors include a son, Juan B., Eagle Point; her parents, A.J. and Anita Molinar, Rio Rancho, N.M.; three brothers, Victor Molinar, Austin, Texas, A.J. Molinar Jr., Oklahoma City, and David Molinar, Albuquerque, N.M.; and a sister, Mellisa Quesada, Rio Rancho, N.M.

Friends may pay their respects from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday at Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel, Redding, Calif.

Carlie Carmen Knapp

The vigil for Carlie Carmen Knapp will be at 7 p.m. Thursday in Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel, Redding. The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Neighborhood Church of Redding, Calif. Chaplain Lupe Phillips will officiate. Interment will be in Redding Cemetery.

Carlie, 16, of Eagle Point, died Friday (April 7, 2000) in an automobile accident on Highway 89 in Siskiyou County.

She was born Dec. 26, 1983, in Medford, a daughter of Stephen and Catherine Knapp.

Carlie was a 10th-grade student at Eagle Point High School.

Survivors include her brother, Juan B. Knapp, Eagle Point; her grandparents, A.J. and Anita Molinar, Rio Rancho, N.M., Dale and Shelley Knapp, Redding, Calif., and Carlie Guinn, Scott Bar, Calif.; and her great-grandmother, Irma Proper, Redding, Calif.

Friends may pay their respects from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday at Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel, Redding.

Harry Timm Cianci

The graveside service for Harry Timm Cianci will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Fort Jones Cemetery, Fort Jones, Calif. Pastor John Wetzig of the Grenada Community Berean Church will officiate. A memorial luncheon will follow the service at 1 p.m. at the Grenada Berean Church, 512 Sixth St., Grenada, Calif.

Mr. Cianci, 60, of Grenada, died Friday (April 7, 2000) in an automobile accident near McCloud, Calif.

Memorial contributions may be made to DARE, 311 Lane St., Yreka, CA 96097, or to a favorite charity.

He was born March 21, 1940, in New Britain, Conn., a son of Paul and Myrtle Timm Cianci. He graduated from E.C. Goodwin Technical School in New Britain and received a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California in Long Beach.

On Sept. 8, 1984, he married Lorenda Austin Clarin, who survives.

Mr. Cianci was the fleet manager for the Klamath National Forest in Yreka, Calif., for close to 30 years.

He served in the U.S. Navy for six years.

Mr. Cianci was a charter member of the Siskiyou Region, Contemporary Historical Vehicle Association in Yreka, where he served as director for six years. He was also a member of various car clubs, including those in Redding and Medford.

He enjoyed restoring older model cars, participating in car shows and going to car swap meets.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Linda Marie Cianci, Bozeman, Mont.; a son, Nicholas Allen, Baltic, Conn.; a stepdaughter, Tammy Clarin, Stockholm, Sweden; a sister, Paula Higgins, Thiensville, Wis.; two grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a stepson, Stefan Clarin.

Friends may pay their respects from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Girdner Funeral Chapel in Yreka, Calif.
