Elsie Ethel Garrett
The graveside service for Elsie Ethel Garrett will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Eastwood I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Highland and Siskiyou Boulevard in Medford.
Mrs. Garrett, 91, of Ashland, died Sunday (March 12, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

She was born April 9, 1908, in Medford, a daughter of Charles and Ethel Standley. She attended the old Dardenell School in Gold Hill, and Medford schools.
On March 14, 1926, in Central Point, she married Otis Garrett, who died in 1946.
Mrs. Garrett worked in the Rogue Valley Medical Center lab until her retirement in 1976. She and her husband farmed, ranched and operated a dairy ranch in the northeast Medford area and in Talent, where she raised animals, gardened, canned vegetables and made jams and jellies.
She was a member of T.O.P.S. Club (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), and was a former member of the Medford Grange.
She enjoyed needlepoint and crocheting.
Survivors include a son, Lee, Medford; a daughter, Ruth McCloud, Ashland; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles, in 1997; and six brothers and sisters.
Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford.
Betty Lou Rapp
The graveside service for Betty Lou Rapp will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pastor Stan Johnson of West Main Church of Christ will officiate.
Mrs. Rapp, 72, of Eagle Point, died Sunday (March 12, 2000) at her home.

She was born Aug. 13, 1927, in Iron Mountain, Mo., a daughter of Charles and Lena Powell.
On Nov. 11, 1950, she married George R. Rapp, who died in 1986. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1961, from Mountlake Terrace, Wash.
Mrs. Rapp worked in food services at the Veterans Affairs Domiciliary for 26 years, retiring in 1990.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Nevita Chapter, and the Daughters of the Nile.
Survivors include three sons, Ricky, Eagle Point, Michael G., Mesquite, Texas, and Glen R., Sanford, N.C.; a sister, Annie McEntire, Flat River, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Powell; and a sister, Lucinda Powell.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. today at Hillcrest Mortuary Chapel, Medford.
Jim Wesley Sutfin
The memorial service for Jim Wesley Sutfin will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Butte Falls Assembly of God. Pastors Steve Harvey and Daryl Backus will officiate.
Mr. Sutfin, 38, of Butte Falls, died Saturday (March 11, 2000) at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene.

He was born Aug. 18, 1961, in Fortuna, Calif., a son of James and Donna Sutfin. He attended Southern Trinity High School in Mad River, Calif.
On Nov. 15, 1986, in Reno, he married Mary Atkinson, who survives. He had lived in Butte Falls for five years.
Mr. Sutfin was a dairy milker.
He was a member of the Butte Falls Assembly of God.
Mr. Sutfin enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and cooking.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Jesse and Joshua, both Butte Falls; two daughters, Kyndi and Elizabeth, both Butte Falls; and a brother, Phillip, in California.

James R. Kennedy
James Richard Kennedy, 83, of Medford, died Sunday (March 12, 2000) at Providence Medford Medical Center. A private service will be held.

He was born Dec. 12, 1916, in Jersey City, N.J.
In 1943, in New Jersey, he married Elizabeth Ervin, who died in 1998.
Mr. Kennedy retired from the U.S. Navy after 22 years. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Louisiana in 1985.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
He is survived by nieces and nephews.

Warren `Casey' Flagg
The memorial service for Warren "Casey" Flagg will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Scottish Rite Center, 955 N. Phoenix Road, Medford.
Mr. Flagg, 85, of Medford, died Wednesday (March 8, 2000) at Three Fountains.

He was born June 7, 1914, in Boston. He was a member of the class of 1935 at the University of Maine. He moved to Hawaii in 1936.
On June 7, 1941, in Hilo, Hawaii, he married Hazel F. Scott, who died in 1996.
Mr. Flagg was the branch manager at one of Hawaii's mercantile companies in Hilo. With his college background in mechanical engineering, he specialized in the design, infield modification and application of all-wheel drive special vehicles for the sugar and pineapple industry. He later formed his own company with two partners in Honolulu. He moved to Medford following his retirement in 1981.
He was a life member of the Society of Automotive Engineers. He was an active member of the Masonic fraternity for more than 63 years. In 1949, he was master of the lodge in Hilo. Fifty years later he served as master of Warren Lodge No. 10 in Jacksonville.
He was a 33rd-degree Scottish Rite, KYCH in the York Rite Bodies, and chaplain emeritus of the Hillah Shriners. He was a member of the Red Cross of Constantine, the Royal Order of Scotland, and the Order of Quetzalcoat, having served as the head of its group in both Hawaii and Medford. In Hawaii, he was also active in the Elks Lodge, where he was a past exalted ruler and past district deputy. Locally, he was a member of the Ashland Elks Lodge.
He enjoyed travel, public speaking and photography. Some of his early photographs were featured in Life magazine. In June 1999, he made a trip around the world and visited 10 countries.

Gabrielle Gibson
Gabrielle Breanne Gibson, infant, of Ashland, died Thursday (March 9, 2000) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private memorial service will be held by the family.
She was born March 9, 2000, in Medford to Melissa A. Martin, Ashland, and Jeff S. Gibson, Medford. In addition to her parents, survivors include a sister, Catrenna Bauer, and a brother, Dyland Gibson, both of Ashland.

Lloyd Nathaniel Huth
The graveside service for Lloyd Nathaniel Huth will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Eagle Point National Cemetery. The Veterans for Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors.
Mr. Huth, 83, of Roseburg, formerly of Medford, died Feb. 24, 2000 in a Roseburg hospital.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
He was born March 18, 1916, in Kittanning, Pa., a son of Maurice E. and Minnie B. (Christman) Huth. He was raised in Oil City, Pa. He graduated from high school in 1934 and received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Illinois in 1949.
On Dec. 28, 1946, in Smithport, Pa., he married Barbara Bouton, who survives. They lived in Medford for five years before moving to Roseburg in 1999.
Mr. Huth was a loan broker in real estate.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II and was a member of the 20th Pursuit Squadron. In 1942, he was captured by the Japanese, was part of the Bataan Death March and was a prisoner of war for 42 months. He received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
Mr. Huth was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Suzanne Rushman, Albany, and Pamela Gardiner, Bellingham, Wash.; a son, Jack Allen, Roseville, Calif.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
