Joyce Carolyn Reed
Joyce Carolyn Reed, 75, of Central Point, died Friday (Oct. 15, 1999) at her home. A private service will be held. Inurnment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

She was born Nov. 21, 1923, in Ashland, a daughter of Alex G. and Mildred (Lynch) Hayes.
On April 20, 1958, in Central Point, she married Harold L. Reed, who survives. She lived in the Rogue Valley her entire life.
Mrs. Reed was a waitress and worked as a fruit packer with Naumes and Bear Creek Corporation for many years.
She was a member of the Medford Eagles Auxiliary and the Medford Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Tom Ian Hooker, Medford, and Gary Garrison, Huntsville, Ala.; a daughter, Carolyn Joyce Buckingham, Kent, Wash.; three stepsons, David Reed, Central Point, Dennis Reed, Santa Rosa, Calif., and Daniel Reed, Newcastle, Okla.; two brothers, Wendell Hayes and Harry Hayes, both Medford; three sisters, Natalie Buseman, Medford, Barbara Clark, Philomath, and Lee Bailey, Lebanon; 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Hayes.

Robert Gelbach Smith
Robert Gelbach Smith, 83, of Medford, died Wednesday (Oct. 13, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private service will be held at a later date.

He was born Nov. 5, 1915, in Glenn, Calif.
On Aug. 30, 1947, in Reno, Nev., he married Evelyn Lydia Howard, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Citrus Heights, Calif., in 1995.
Mr. Smith was a hardware salesman.
He was a 50-year member of the San Joaquin Masonic Lodge No 19, the East Bell Masonic Lodge No. 219 in Sonora, Calif., the Stockton Scottish Rite, and the Aahmes Temple Shrine in Livermore, Calif.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
He enjoyed golf, fishing and building birdhouses.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Gene, Medford; two brothers, E. Parker, Sacramento, Calif., and Earl V., Arcata, Calif.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, William H. Smith.

John Leslie Sullivan
John Leslie Sullivan, 84, of Jacksonville, died Friday (Oct. 15, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private graveside service will be held. Burial will be in Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford. Dr. Larry Jung, of the Jacksonville Presbyterian Church, will officiate.

Mr. Sullivan, a former Jacksonville mayor, was born on Jan. 20, 1915, in Placerville, Calif., to Jesse J. and Edythe Cummons Sullivan.
He graduated from Burns High School in 1933 and attended Oregon State College.
On Aug. 27, 1942, in Reno, Nev., he married Lois Snyder Sullivan, who survives.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army artillery and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
Mr. Sullivan was an electrician with the California-Oregon Power Co., now Pacific Power. He also worked for Pacific Northwest Bell, now US West, for 32 years, until his retirement.
He was a member and past president of the Communication Workers of America, a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 659 for 60 years, and the Telephone Pioneers of American since 1968.
Mr. Sullivan was the mayor of Jacksonville from 1970 to 1974. Before that, he was a member of the city budget committee and the Jacksonville City Council.
An avid fisherman, he enjoyed the outdoors and also liked to travel. His hobbies were oil painting, gardening and reading, especially history.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Jerry D., Citrus Heights, Calif.; two brothers, James, Hillsboro, and Matthew, Callam Bay, Wash.; and two granddaughters.
A son, John L., died in 1987. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Charles.

Coda Wayne Thomas
Coda Wayne Thomas, infant son of Thomas and Lori Singley, Medford. died Thursday (Oct. 14, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private family service was held.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his grandparents, Mary Carol Singley, Medford, Michael and Karen Thomas, Albany, and Carol Andrews and Robert Tipsword, Corvallis.

Ray A. Noland
Ray A. Noland, 89, of Medford, died Thursday (Oct. 14, 1999) at his home. No service is planned.
He was born March 15, 1910, in Pasco, Wash.
On April 7, 1935, in Walla Walla, Wash., he married Dessie T. Tighe, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Carmel, Calif., in 1986.
Mr. Noland was an airline pilot with TWA for 34 years, retiring in 1970.
He served as a pilot in the Army Air Corps from 1932-45.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Steve, North Hills, Calif., and Bill, Park City, Utah; and two grandchildren.

Virginia A. Hague
The graveside service for Virginia A. Hague will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Hillcrest Memorial Park in
Medford. Pastor Chad McComas of Set Free Christian Fellowship in Medford will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford.
Mrs. Hague, 83, of Medford, died Wednesday (Oct. 13, 1999) in Medford.
She was born Virginia A. Dalle on March 13, 1916, in Brownwood, Texas.
On March 2, 1959, in Midway, Wash., she married Robert D. Hague, who died in 1992. She
moved to the Rogue Valley from Texas in 1983.
Mrs. Hague was a homemaker. During the early 1960s, while living in Washington, she worked as a housemother at Lewis and Clark College.
She was a member of the Medford Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Ramey, in Canada, and Ross Johnson, Chattanooga, Tenn.; six daughters, Diana Bursh, Medford, Helen Douglas, in Tennessee, Mona, in Georgia, Dale Homa, Cleveland; Kay Fritz, San Antonio; and Francine Sakso, Olympia, Wash.; 40 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna.
Friends may pay their respects from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Conger-Morris in Medford.
Richard Alan Kirby
The funeral for Richard Alan Kirby will be at 8:30 a.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Carmelo Mifsud will officiate. The graveside service will follow at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Kirby, 53, of Central Point, died Wednesday (Oct. 13, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 3, 1946, in Tulsa, Okla.
On Sept. 6, 1975, in Riverside, Calif., he married Terri Liggett, who survives. He moved to the
Rogue Valley from Riverside, Calif., in 1979.
Mr. Kirby was a telemarketer for Combined Transport in Central Point.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and received the Purple Heart in Vietnam.
Mr. Kirby was a member of the Catholic Church.
He enjoyed communicating with people, football and fishing.
Survivors include his mother, Jeanne Gorman, Enid, Okla.; a brother, Thomas, Broken Arrow,
Okla.; and a sister, Janet Cordell, Enid, Okla. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred C. Kirby.
