Don Huffman Jr.

Don Huffman Jr., 38, of Wimer, died Friday (Oct. 8, 1999) at his home. A private service will be held.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

He was born Jan. 1, 1961, in San Francisco, a son of Donald J. Huffman and Carolyn Briggs. He moved to the Rogue Valley seven years ago from Sonoma, Calif.

Mr. Huffman enjoyed fishing, collecting antiques, baseball and marksmanship.

Survivors include his mother, Carolyn Briggs, Sonoma, Calif.; his father, Donald J., Sonoma; two sisters, Mags Huffman, Sonoma, and Katie Edwards, Redlands, Calif.; and a brother, Mark, Sonoma.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Patricia `Mini' Reed

Patricia "Mini" Reed of Long Beach, Calif., 49, formerly of Medford, died Sept. 23, 1999, at her home. A memorial service was held Sept. 25. Her brother, Mike Cole, officiated.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

She was born Patricia Cole on June 25, 1950, in Roseburg. She moved to Medford when she was young and graduated from Medford Senior High School in 1968. She left the valley in 1994 when she became ill, to be near her family.

Ms. Reed worked at Rogue Answering Service in Medford.

She enjoyed mushrooming, fishing, knitting and crocheting.

Survivors include her mother, Margaret Cole; a brother, Mike Cole; and a sister, Kelli Cole, all in California. She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Cole.

Ralph W. Wood

The memorial service for Ralph W. Wood will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the First Presbyterian Church in Ashland. The Rev. William J. Kirkman will officiate. Private inurnment will be in Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland.

Mr. Wood, 81, of Ashland, died Sunday (Oct. 10, 1999) at Hearthstone.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

He was born Oct. 3, 1918, in Karval, Colo., a son of Ralph H. and Edith R. (Lyon) Wood.

On May 25, 1940, in Las Vegas, he married Genevieve E. Madson, who survives.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Wood attended Southern Oregon College of Education, which included some post-graduate studies. He graduated from what is now Southern Oregon University in 1954.

He was a member of organizations including Masonic orders, United Way, the Ashland YMCA, Ashland Rotary and the First Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Wood enjoyed oil painting, nature, history and reading.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Kenneth A., Central Point; two daughters, Karen DeBoer, Ashland, and Alyce M. Boorman, Talbott, Tenn.; a brother, John F., Cornelius; two sisters, Noma Hendrix, Redding, Calif., and Dona Spencer, High Hill,

Mo.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, "Mick" Wood.

Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Martin Lytle

The graveside service for Martin Thomas Lytle will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. The Rev. Sharon Besler of the First Church of God, Medford, will officiate.

Mr. Lytle, 55, of Medford, died Thursday (Oct. 7, 1999) at his home.

He was born Jan 22, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pa., and moved with his family to Oregon in 1952. On Feb. 12, 1971, in Reno, Nev., he married Sandra Robinson, who survives.

He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He worked as a dryer grader.

Mr. Lytle enjoyed camping, flea markets and fishing with his grandsons.

Survivors in addition to his wife are a son, James Lytle, of Medford; a daughter, Shyla Lytle, of Medford; two brothers, William Lytle, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and Ronald Lytle, of Talent; two sisters, Vicky Rickard, of Medford, and Shirley Brown, of White City; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Eva Lytle, and two brothers, Bobby and Jim Lytle.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral.

Eileen F. DeLorme

The memorial Mass for Eileen F. DeLorme will be at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. William Dillard will officiate.

Mrs. DeLorme, 87, of Medford, died Wednesday (Oct. 6, 1999) at Hearthstone in Medford.

She was born Eileen F. McCauley on Nov. 18, 1911 in Hurley, Wis. She received a teaching certificate from Ypsilanti Normal College, now Southern Michigan University.

On June 3, 1938, in Bessemer, Mich., she married Robert E. DeLorme, who survives. They moved to Portland in 1941 and in 1951 to Camp Stoneman, Calif., where her husband was serving in the U.S. Army. They moved to Medford in 1953.

Mrs. DeLorme returned to school after her children were raised. She received her bachelor's degree in education from what is now Southern Oregon University.

She was a member of the Rogue Valley Country Club.

Mrs. DeLorme enjoyed golfing and children.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three sons, Charles Darrow, Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, James Robert, Walnut Creek, Calif., and John Dennis, Huntington Beach, Calif.; a daughter, Dianne Marie Heider, Fort Collins, Colo.; two sisters, Lois Hallen, Ann Arbor, Mich., and Vera Kafoury, Sun City, Calif.; a brother, Robert McCauley, Medford; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Service, Medford.

Lester `Pete' Root

The memorial service for Lester "Pete" Root will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church in Medford. Pastor Rick Burns will officiate. A graveside service will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park.

Mr. Root, 85, of Medford, died Wednesday (Oct. 6, 1999) in Providence Medford Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 649 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504 or the Gospel Mission, 409 S. Front St., Medford, OR 97501.

He was born Sept. 11, 1914, in Kilgore, Neb. On Feb. 20, 1934, in Bolivar, Mo., he married Pearl Quick, who died in 1982. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Bolivar in 1956.

Mr. Root worked for various businesses in the poultry industry for more than 20 years. Later, he was a janitor at the Jackson County Courthouse for 11 years.

He was a foster grandparent for over 10 years at Kennedy Elementary School, up until last week. He was known as "Grandpa Pete" at the school. He had received the KTVL "Spirit award" for foster grandparenting in 1997.

Mr. Root was a member of the First Baptist Church of Medford.

Survivors include a son, Larry D., Medford; three sisters, Ethel E. Coffman, Kansas City, Mo., Inez R. Quick, Weaubleau, Mo., and Edna M. Hembree, Bolivar, Mo.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Hattie J. Earhart; and four brothers.

Friends may pay their respects from 4 to 7 p.m. today in Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Janet Kathleen Albieri

Janet Kathleen Albieri, 61, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday (Oct. 6, 1999) at her home.

She was born on July 28, 1938, in Los Angeles.

On May 23, 1959, in Las Vegas, she married Thomas Albieri, who preceded her in death. She moved to the Rogue Valley 30 days ago from Arkansas.

Mrs. Albieri was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and the martial arts.

Survivors include a son, Robert, Tyler, Minn.; two daughters, Vicki Grammer, Murphy, and Cherie Chalfant, Killeen, Texas; two brothers, Warren Karie, Los Angeles, and Greg Karie, Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Cheryl Ezkle, Grants Pass, and Judy Baxter, Portland; and five grandchildren.

Arrangements: Grants Pass Funeral Alternatives.

Edgar Caron

Edgar Caron, 81, of Eagle Point, died Friday (Oct. 8, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center. No service is planned.

Mr. Caron was born April 5, 1918, in Rockland, Mass. On Feb. 10, 1939, in Whitman Mass., he married Helen Cook, who survives. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II and worked as a machinist for many years.

Mr. Caron enjoyed woodcarving, camping, travel and fishing.

Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, James E., Riverside, Calif., and Richard A., Cerritos, Calif.; a daughter, Beverly E. Jackson, Silver Springs, Nev.; a brother, Willard of Green Valley, R.I., 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
