Kenneth Shaw

The funeral for Kenneth Shaw will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Conger Morris Chapel, Medford. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford.

Mr. Shaw, 88, of Medford, died Wednesday (Oct. 6, 1999) in Gold Hill.

Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Medford Medical Center Hospice, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504.

He was born Sept. 5, 1911, in Wessington Springs, S.D. On April 20, 1939, in Pierre, S.D., he married Marguerite Seedenburg, who died in 1990. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1941 from Highmore, S.D.

Mr. Shaw served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s.

After moving to the Rogue Valley, he owned and operated a glove distributorship in Southern Oregon.

He was a member of the Roxy Ann Grange.

Mr. Shaw enjoyed bowling and sponsored several bowling teams in the Rogue Valley. He also enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include two sons, Neil, Gold Hill, and James, Central Point; two brothers; four sisters; six grand-children; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may pay their respects from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Elsie Bolz Wright

Elsie Bolz Wright, 91, of Sacramento, Calif., formerly of Phoenix, died Wednesday (Oct. 6, 1999) in Sacramento. No service is planned. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1207, Medford, OR 97501.

She was born Elsie Bolz on Dec. 16, 1909, in North Dakota. She was raised in Phoenix.

Mrs. Wright enjoyed vegetable and fruit gardening.

Survivors include three brothers, Roy and Walter Bolz, both Phoenix, and Sidney Bolz, Salem; three sisters, Addie Simmonds, Phoenix, Mildred Allen, in Hawaii, and Violet Archer, Loleta, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Wright; and a brother, Ernest Bolz.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.

Iris T. Cox

The memorial service for Iris Thelma Cox will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the band shell in Ashland's Lithia Park.

Mrs. Cox, 71, of Ashland, died Sept. 30, 1999 at Ashland Community Hospital.

She was born on Feb. 27, 1928 in Moosejaw, Saskatchewan, Canada, a daughter of Annetta and William Young.

On Aug. 8, 1947, in London, Ontario, Canada, she married Robert Cox, who survives. They moved to the United States in 1954, residing in New York, Illinois and California before settling in Ashland in 1990.

Mrs. Cox did volunteer work with the U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife Forensics Lab in Ashland, the Loaves and Fishes program and Actor's Theater.

She was an avid reader, and was particularly accomplished at sewing, needlework, knitting and hand-crafting porcelain dolls.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Robert W., Toronto, Canada, and Stephen D., Felton, Calif.; three daughters, Suzanne A. Schwartz, San Jose, Calif., and Nancy J. Bacon and Lisa A. Cox, both Forest Ranch, Calif.; a sister, Fay Lines, London, Ontario, Canada; and 10 grandchildren.

Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Crematory & Funeral Home, Ashland.

Martha Jane Love

Martha Jane Love, 87, of Beaverton, formerly of Medford, died Sept. 25, 1999, in Beaverton. No service is planned. Private inurnment will be in Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.

She was born Martha Webb on April 5, 1912 in Bandon.

Mrs. Love was an elementary school teacher in Coos Bay for several years, retiring in 1974. She moved to the Rogue Valley Manor in Medford in 1983.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Doric Chapter No. 53 in Coos Bay.

Survivors include a niece, Ann Prine, Long Beach, Calif. Her husband, Leonard K. Love, died in 1995.

Arrangements: Ross Hollywood Chapel, Portland.

Ross K. Brown

The funeral for Ross Kenneth Brown will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. The Rev. Nevitt Smith will officiate.

Mr. Brown, 90, of Ashland, died Tuesday (Oct. 5, 1999) at Hearthstone.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 175 N. Main St., Ashland, OR 97520.

He was born July 16, 1909, in Myrtle Point, a son of Edna and Arthur Brown. He graduated from Willamette University in Salem and Oregon State College in Corvallis.

In 1939, he married Madge Marean, who died in 1989.

On Nov. 11, 1989, in Talent, he married Adelaide S. Clary, who survives.

Mr. Brown retired from the Eureka School System after teaching for 38 years.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ashland, the Ashland Lodge No. 23, A.F. & A.M., the Ashland Alpha Chapter No. 1 Order of the Eastern Star, and the Bellview Grange in Ashland.

Survivors include a son, Marcus Brown of Chico, Calif.; a daughter, Marean Jordan of Berkeley, Calif.; a brother, Robert Brown of Salem; and one grandson. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Crematory & Funeral Home, Ashland.

Eva Ruth Smith

The funeral for Eva Ruth Smith will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Memory Gardens Chapel in Medford. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.

Mrs. Smith, 72, of Central Point, died Wednesday (Oct. 6, 1999) in Rogue Valley Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

She was born Eva Brown on Nov. 19, 1926, in Broken Bow, Okla. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1957 from Dillard.

On Feb. 2, 1957, in Reno, Nev., she married Dan L. Smith, who died in 1992.

Mrs. Smith was a homemaker.

She was a strong supporter of the Democratic Party.

Mrs. Smith enjoyed gardening, pets, television and talk radio programs.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Walkeman and Dana Fish, both Medford; two sons, Ron Manous, Coos Bay, and Gary Manous, Newberg; two brothers, L.C. Brown Jr., in California, and Hayes Brown, in Arkansas; a sister, Jewel Dunn, in Arkansas; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.

Friends may pay their respects from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Elsie Marie Stowell

The funeral for Elsie Marie Stowell will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Medford. The Rev. William H. Lehmann will officiate. Entombment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.

Mrs. Stowell, 90, of Medford, died Wednesday (Oct. 6, 1999) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, 1020 E. Main St., Medford, OR 97504 or the American Lung Association, 1776 S.W. Madison St., Suite 200, Portland, OR 97205-1798.

She was born on April 26, 1909, in St. Francis, Kan., a daughter of Gustaf J. and Mina M. Felzien. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1940 from Great Bend, Kan.

In March 1958, in Medford, she married Elsworth L. Stowell, who died in 1970.

Mrs. Stowell was a cafeteria manager at Griffin Creek School for 26 years.

She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church for more than 50 years, and belonged to the Lutheran Women's Missionary League.

Mrs. Stowell enjoyed traveling, knitting, handiwork and cooking.

Survivors include two sons, Eugene Gemaehlich, Gold Hill, and Robert L. Gemaehlich, Bend; two daughters, Marilyn Jensen and Yvonne Sanford, both Medford; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters and three grandsons.

Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Adeline M. Walker

The funeral Mass for Adeline M. Walker will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church in Ashland. The Rev. Raymond Finerty will officiate. Interment will follow in Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland.

The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home.

Mrs. Walker, 85, of Talent, died Tuesday (Oct. 5, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 10, 1914, in Merrill, Wis., a daughter of Stephen and Caroline (Bronstetter) Conrad.

On Aug. 12, 1935, in Merrill, Wis., she married Lester C. Walker, who died in 1975. They moved to Talent in 1942. Mrs. Walker lived in Talent for 58 years.

Mrs. Walker and her husband owned and operated the family business, Walker Auto Parks in Talent. The family sold it in 1991.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church in Ashland.

Mrs. Walker enjoyed playing cards and taking trips to Reno, Nev.

Survivors include three sons, Lester S., Medford, James G., Talent, and John "Jack," Phoenix; two daughters, Sharon M. Lee, Talent, and Shirley A. Zeitler, Central Point; a brother, Leo Conrad, Merrill, Wis.; 25 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister; and a grandson.

Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, 1811 Ashland St., Ashland.
