Helen Marie Barlow

The funeral for Helen Marie Barlow will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Memory Gardens Mortuary in Medford. The Rev. Glenn Tucker of Calvary Temple will officiate. The graveside service will follow in Memory Gardens Memorial Park in Medford.

Mrs. Barlow, 78, of Medford, died Friday (Sept. 10, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

She was born Helen Bosh on June 27, 1921, in Richwood, Ohio.

On Nov. 30, 1941, in Marion, Ohio, she married William M. Barlow, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley 54 years ago from Ohio.

Mrs. Barlow worked at Woolworth's in Medford for 17 years and later as a housekeeper at Rogue Valley Medical Center, until her retirement in 1983.

She was a member of Calvary Temple.

Mrs. Barlow enjoyed church activities, family outings and traveling.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters, Reni Ferguson, Medford, and Becki Chriss, Phoenix; four brothers, Harold and Tom Bosh, both Marion, Ohio, Vern Bosh, Pittsburgh, and Don Bosh, Denver; a sister, Addie Brown, Medford; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Benjamin and Earl Bosh.

Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Gladys M. Billings

The memorial service for Gladys M. Billings will be at 3 p.m. Friday in the United Methodist Church in Ashland. The Rev. Michael Powell will officiate. Private interment will be in Hargadine Cemetery in Ashland.

Mrs. Billings, 82, of Ashland, died Friday (Sept. 10, 1999) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Women, 175 North Main St., Ashland, OR 97520.

She was born Aug. 7, 1917, in Salt Creek, a daughter of Albert and Freida (Schunke) May.

On Aug. 22, 1943, in Salt Creek, she married John Stannard Billings, who survives. She lived in Ashland for 56 years.

Mrs. Billings was a volunteer for the Ashland Chamber of Commerce for 20 years, and in 1994 was named an honorary life member of the Ashland Chamber of Commerce. She was also recently recognized as an honorary member of the Ashland Rotary Club.

She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and served for many years on the local election board.

She was a 50-plus year charter member of the Fortnightly Study Club. In 1968, she was honored as Mother of the Year of the Oregon State University Mothers' Club. She had served as a 4-H club leader and was active with PTA while her children were in school.

Mrs. Billings was a member of the United Methodist Church of Ashland, the United Methodist Women, and the Valley View Home Extension Club.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Timothy L., Ashland, and J.S. "Stan" Jr., Murrysville, Pa.; two daughters, Virginia "Ginny" M. Lewis, Ashland, and Mary E. James, La Grange, Calif.; two brothers, Ed May, Seattle, and Marvin May, Dallas, Ore.; a sister, Louella Arnold, Dallas, Ore.; and eight grandchildren.

Friends may pay their respects from 5 to 8 p.m. today in Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, 1811 Ashland St., Ashland.

Fred Leon Bayouth

The memorial service for Fred L. Bayouth will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home in Ashland.

Mr. Bayouth, 83, of Ashland, died Saturday (Sept. 11, 1999) in Medford.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

He was born Aug. 23, 1916, in Oklahoma. After being discharged from the Army, he moved to Salinas, Calif.

On July 16, 1944, he married Barbara "Bobbie" Jean Hansen, who survives.

Mr. Bayouth owned and operated several family grocery stores in Salinas, Calif., where he lived most of his life. He moved to Ashland in 1994.

He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed the outdoors. He enjoyed watching sports on television and was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Rick Salem, Ashland; two brothers, Buss and Harry, both Tulsa, Okla.; two sisters, Wedad Nichols, in Florida, and Norma Holland, King City, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Clarence B. Cogdill Jr.

The memorial service for Clarence Beryl Cogdill Jr. will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Inurnment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Mr. Cogdill, 50, of Rogue River, died Wednesday (Sept. 15, 1999) in Medford.

He was born Jan. 21, 1949, in Kansas City, Mo., a son of Clarence and Cecelia Cogdill.

Mr. Cogdill was a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in California. He moved to the Rogue Valley six years ago from Redding, Calif.

He served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Cogdill enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his father, Clarence Sr., Rogue River; two brothers, David, Rogue River, and Charles, San Francisco,; and a sister, Gloria Cogdill, Walnut Creek, Calif. He was preceded in death by his mother, Cecelia; and a sister.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation & Funeral Care, Central Point.

Rosa Jane Baize

The graveside service for Rosa Jane Baize will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford. Pastor Glen Prosise of Keene Way Church of Christ will officiate.

Mrs. Baize, 94, of Medford, died Friday (Sept. 17, 1999) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 698, Medford, OR 97501, or to Providence Community Health Foundation, Hospice, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504.

She was born Rosa McKinney on June 24, 1905, in Bell, Okla.

On June 24, 1925, in Hemet, Calif., she married Barton Baize, who died in 1985. She moved to the Rogue Valley from California in 1931, and lived in Grants Pass for 10 years. She moved to Medford after her retirement.

Mrs. Baize did community work making booties and afghans for area nursing homes.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking and quilting.

Survivors include three sons, Frank R., Trail, James R., Eagle Point, and Robert E., Applegate; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, William B. Baize, in 1927; a daughter, Nellie I. Ettinger, in 1988; two brothers and a sister.

Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Kevin J. Culhane

A memorial Mass for Kevin J. Culhane will be at 8 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church, Ashland. Father Gerald A. Buckley will officiate.

Mr. Culhane, 72, of Ashland, died Aug. 15, 1999, at his home.

Dennis Ray Mitchell

The memorial service for Dennis Ray Mitchell will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ashland Christian Fellowship. Andy Green of Ashland Christian Fellowship will officiate.

Mr. Mitchell, 51, of Phoenix, died Wednesday (Sept. 15, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center, Medford.

He was born May 18, 1948, in Ashland.

They family moved to the Reno, Nev., area when he was a young boy. Mr. Mitchell returned to the Rogue Valley when he was in his early 20s.

On Jan. 29, 1983, in Ashland, he married Mary McKeon, who survives.

Mr. Mitchell owned and operated Dennis Mitchell Motors, a small-engine repair shop. He also was a bus driver for Rogue Valley Manor.

He was a member of the Ashland Christian Fellowship.

He enjoyed spending time with his sons in the outdoors, camping and in sports.

Survivors in addition to his wife include: sons James and Jesse, of Phoenix; his mother, Faye DeRicco, Medford; a brother, James L., Livermore, Calif.; and a sister, Jean White, West Linn.

His father, Leo DeRicco, died in 1991.

Lloyd Joseph LeFaive

The funeral Mass for Lloyd Joseph LeFaive will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jacksonville. The Rev. Carmelo Mifsud of Sacred Heart Catholic Church will officiate. Interment will be in Siskiyou Memorial Park.

Mr. LeFaive, 84, of Medford, died Thursday (Sept. 16, 1999) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 698, Medford, OR 97501 or Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 1211, Eagle Point, OR 97524.

He was born April 9, 1915, in Duluth, Minn. He moved to the Rogue Valley 50 years ago from Bemidji, Minn.

In 1941, in Bemidji, he married Bertha Haugen, who died in 1950.

In 1955, in Medford, he married Clara Pederson, who died in 1995.

Mr. LeFaive was a millworker for several lumber companies in the Rogue Valley, including Southern Oregon Dry Kiln Inc. He retired in 1980.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy .

Mr. LeFaive was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and gardening.

Survivors include two sons, Tom, Pierre, S.D., and Joe, Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters, Lois Mancusco, Los Angeles, and Lorraine Linton, Severna Park, Md.; a brother, Robert, Minneapolis; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Wilfred.
