Earl R. Weinhold

The graveside service for Earl Raymond Weinhold will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hillcrest Memorial Park. The Rev. Carmelo Mifsud of Sacred Heart Catholic Church will officiate.

Mr. Weinhold, 85, of Medford, died Monday (Aug. 9, 1999) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

He was born Dec. 11, 1913, in Evans, Colo., a son of Albert R. and Jennie (Zimmer) Weinhold.

On June 15, 1936, in Denver, he married Anna Mae Henry, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley from Seattle in 1948.

Mr. Weinhold worked in sales in the automotive industry.

He enjoyed gardening, yard work and reading.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Ronald L., Talent, and E. Ray II, Scottsdale, Ariz.; a daughter, Jo Ann McDonough, Medford; a brother, Merl, Richmond, Calif.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and a granddaughter.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.

Dottie Ellen Bailey

The graveside service for Dottie Ellen Bailey will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Memory Gardens Memorial Park.

Mrs. Bailey, 69, of Medford, died Tuesday (Aug. 10, 1999) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rogue Valley Medical Center Foundation, Hospice, 691 Murphy Road, Suite 236, Medford, OR 97504.

She was born Dottie Brown on June 15, 1930, in Oakland, Calif.

On March 18, 1948, in Medford, she married Clarence J. Bailey, who survives.

Mrs. Bailey was a bookkeeper. She worked for several years at the Jackson County Historical Society, and most recently at Bear Creek Valley Sanitary Authority in Medford.

She was an avid gardener and enjoyed crossword puzzles, bowling and crocheting afghans.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Michael, White City; a stepson, Clarence W., Redmond; a stepdaughter, Louise Black, Redmond; two brothers, Coe Brown, Medford, and Franklin Brown, Pleasant Hill, Calif.; three sisters, Virginia Collins, Medford, Doris Wellman, Pleasant Hill, Calif., and Mariam Garcia, San Francisco; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation & Funeral Care, Central Point.

Ena Emile Wounsch

Ena Emile Wounsch, 92, of Medford, died Sunday (Aug. 8, 1999) at Farmington Square. No service is planned. Inurnment will be in Mountain View Mausoleum in Altadena, Calif.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Southern Oregon, 33 N. Central Ave., Suite 330, Medford, OR 97501.

She was born Ena Emile Gardner on Aug. 21, 1906, in England.

In 1937, in Glendale, Calif., she married John Carl Wounsch, who died in 1972. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1993 from Alhambra, Calif., where she had lived for 60 years.

Mrs. Wounsch was an elementary school teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District for many years, retiring in 1972.

She enjoyed painting landscapes.

She is survived by a niece, Norma Degn, Medford. She was preceded in death by a sister, Eileen Dimmitt, in 1993.

Thomas Arthur Bates

The memorial service for Thomas Arthur Bates will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Medford. The Rev. Lou Schneider will officiate.

Mr. Bates, 66, of Talent, died Monday (Aug. 9, 1999) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 516 W. Fourth St., Medford, OR 97501.

He was born Nov. 29, 1932, in Tillamook, a son of Lowell R. and Lona B. Bates.

On July 1, 1951, in Solvang, Calif., he married Elise Lindegaard, who survives. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1992 from Buellton, Calif.

Mr. Bates was a cement mason in Santa Barbara County for 43 years, retiring in 1992.

He was a member of the Cement Masons Local Union 600 and the Zion Lutheran Church in Medford.

Mr. Bates enjoyed fishing, fly-tying, motorcycles and lapidary work.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four sons, Mark L., Solvang, Calif., Jeffrey P., Los Olivos, Calif., Dean T., Atascadero, Calif., and Clinton F., Templeton, Calif.; a daughter, Amy R. Bates, Encinitas, Calif.; his stepmother, Mildred Bates, Corona, Calif.; a brother, Philip, Solvang, Calif.; two sisters, Ruth Henderson, Elko, Nev., and Denise Frey, Oceanside, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren. A son, Scott, died in 1988.

Bernard Gene Jackson

Bernard Gene Jackson, 72, of Grants Pass, died Monday (Aug. 9, 1999) at Three Rivers Hospital-Dimmick Campus. A private memorial service was held.

Memorial contributions may be made to Three Rivers Hospital-Dimmick Campus Auxiliary, 715 N.W. Dimmick, Grants Pass, OR 97526.

He was born Aug. 9, 1927, in Ivesdale, Ill.

On July 17, 1949, in Champagne, Ill., he married Ellen Maxine Jamison, who survives.

Mr. Jackson was an electrician for the railroad in Champagne, Ill. He also worked as a commissary manager for Host International and as an in-flight manager at Los Angeles International Airport for 25 years. After moving to Oregon in 1979 from Carson, Calif., Mr. Jackson and his wife owned and operated a restaurant in Rogue River. He lived in Shady Cove from 1992 until this year, when he moved to Grants Pass.

Mr. Jackson served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and boating on the lakes and river.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Kathy Lynn Conn, Rogue River, Christy Williams, Talent, and Cynthia LaChapelle, Eagan, Minn.; two sisters, Barbara McCarthy, Canton, Ill., and Marilyn Webber, Pesotum, Ill.; and three grandsons.

Arrangements: Hull & Hull Funeral Directors, Grants Pass.

Irene F. Hamilton

The graveside service for Irene Frances Hamilton will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Memory Gardens Memorial Park. Chaplain Josue Delgado of Providence Medford Medical Center Guild will officiate.

Mrs. Hamilton, 78, of Medford, died Aug. 3, 1999, at Providence Medford Medical Center.

She was born June 19, 1921, in Minneapolis, a daughter of Conrad A. and Alfreda E. (Carlson) Aarseth.

In 1941, she married Edward P. Liekis, who died in 1976. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1974 from Chicago.

In 1983, in Medford, she married Russell Hamilton, who died in 1987.

Mrs. Hamilton was a member of the Eagles Lodge.

She enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include two sons, Marty Liekis, Chicago, and Edward P. Liekis Jr., Arlington Heights, Ill.; two daughters, Bonita Obirek, Tomahawk, Wis., and Constance Mikus, Steger, Ill.; a brother, Conrad Aarseth, Galt, Calif.; a sister, Marian Daniken, Medford; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.

Vincent Herbert Kelly

The memorial service for Vincent Herbert Kelly will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Eagle Point National Cemetery. The Rev. B. Oliver will officiate. Inurnment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Mr. Kelly, 85, of Medford, died Sunday (Aug. 8, 1999) at his home.

He was born April 26, 1914, in Franklin, Minn. He attended Rochester Junior College in Minnesota and Golden Gate Graduate School in San Francisco.

On May 1, 1945, in Liverpool, England, he married Isobel "Belle" Kernaghan, who survives.

Mr. Kelly was an accountant. He owned an accounting business in Alameda, Calif., for more than 40 years.

He was a member of the California Society of Accountants, and the Elks Club for more than 40 years. He was a volunteer for the Red Cross for many years.

Mr. Kelly served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting and gardening.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Joan Galan, Medford, and Kathleen Gorman, Alameda; a son; Brian, Alameda, and four grandchildren.

Ruth Rachel Bartz

The memorial graveside service for Ruth Rachel Bartz will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Eagle Point National Cemetery. The Rev. Lou Schneider of Zion Lutheran Church will officiate.

Mrs. Bartz, 78, of Medford, died Monday (Aug. 9, 1999) at her home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 698, Medford, OR 97501.

She was born Ruth Reed-Ellingworth on April 10, 1921, in Tulsa, Okla.

On Feb. 17, 1950, in Reno, Nev., she married William G. Bartz, who survives. She moved to the Rogue Valley from Klamath Falls in 1996.

Mrs. Bartz was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in San Francisco.

She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, ceramics and reading.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include five daughters, Merilyn Strange, Gilroy, Calif.; Heidi Corrigan, Sacramento, Calif., Cecelia Bartz, Antelope, Calif., Lorelei Goltz, Adelanto, Calif., and Marlene Cady, Arvada, Colo; three sons, Jeffrey Bopp, Hawthorn Woods, Ill., William F. Bartz, Fairfield, Calif., and Frederick W. Bartz, Morgan Hill, Calif.; a sister, Geraldine Hemsley, San Diego; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
