Vernon Lee Smith

Vernon Lee Smith of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Medford, died Feb. 26, 1999, at his home. Memorial services were held in Tucson. A representative of the Masonic Service Bureau officiated.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 3101 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, OR 97201.

He was born June 29, 1928, in Great Bend, Kan.

Mr. Smith was a retired teamster in Alaska. He also lived in Medford and La Conner, Wash.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

In Anchorage, he was a member of Glacier Lodge No. 10 F. & A.M., the Alaska Shrine Temple, Jack Henry Post No. 1, the American Legion and the BPO Elks Lodge No. 1351 for 27 years. In Medford, he was a member of the Jackson County Shrine and the Scottish Rite.

Mr. Smith enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf.

Edith G. Bollinger

The funeral Mass for Edith G. Bollinger will be at 8 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church in Ashland. The Rev. Brendan McAnerney of Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Scenic Hills Memorial Park in Ashland.

Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Mrs. Bollinger, 82, of Ashland, died Monday (March 15, 1999) at her home.

She was born Edith FitzGerald on April 16, 1916, in San Francisco.

On Jan. 14, 1942, in Reno, Nev., she married Henry Bollinger, who survives. She moved to Ashland in 1977 from Vallejo, Calif.

Mrs. Bollinger was a member of Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church and was a member and past president of the Ashland Elkettes.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Kathryn Ann Tobin, Arcata, Calif.; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

William A. Stacey

The graveside service for William A. Stacey will be at 1 p.m. today at Mountain View Cemetery in Ashland. The Rev. Lloyd Hayes, who is retired, will officiate.

Mr. Stacey, 76, of Ashland, died Tuesday (March 16, 1999) at Linda Vista Care Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to Medford Southwest Church of the Nazarene Building Fund, 1481 S. Columbus Ave., Medford, OR 97501.

He was born April 27, 1922, in Orange County, Calif. When he was 2, he and his mother moved to Ashland following his father's death. He attended Ashland schools and graduated ROTC from Southern Oregon State College.

Mr. Stacey served in the U.S. Air Force in Austria. Following his military service, he returned to Ashland and earned his private pilot's license.

Mr. Stacey taught school for several years and worked in forestry maintenance for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Ashland, Butte Falls, Alsea and at the J. Herbert Stone Nursery. He also worked for Bear Creek Corp.

He was a member of the Medford Southwest Church of the Nazarene.

Mr. Stacey enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising game birds, as well as stamp and coin collecting.

Survivors include friends and church family.

Muriel B. Isom

The memorial service for Muriel B. Isom will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 29, at the Cornerstone Christian Fellowship Church in Vallejo, Calif. Interment will be in Sunrise Memorial Cemetery in Vallejo.

Mrs. Isom, 87, of McMinnville, formerly of Medford, died Sunday (March 14, 1999) at Oakwood Country Place in McMinnville.

She was born Muriel Looney on Feb. 15, 1912, in Lick Creek, Mo.

On Nov. 29, 1933, in West Plains, Mo., she married Alexander Isom, who died in 1980. She moved to Medford in 1984 and then to McMinnville in 1997 to live with her daughter.

During World War II, Mrs. Isom worked at the Mare Island Shipyards in Vallejo, Calif. She owned several restaurants in Vallejo and was known for her cooking.

She enjoyed working in her garden and spending time with friends.

Survivors include a daughter, Jo Kamm, McMinnville; a brother, Walt Looney, Vacaville, Calif.; two sisters, Thelma Rocky, Marysville, Calif., and Lura Snyder, Vallejo, Calif.; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Helena Mae Coghill

The funeral service for Helena Mae Coghill will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Memory Gardens Mortuary in Medford. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.

Mrs. Coghill, 78, of Medford, died Monday (March 15, 1999) at a local foster home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 33 N. Central Ave., Suite 330, Medford, OR 97501.

She was born Helena Smith on March 7, 1921, in Skidmore, Mo. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1927 from Missouri, and attended Medford schools.

On March 8, 1941, in Reno, Nev., she married Edgar Lee Coghill, who died in 1993.

Mrs. Coghill was a cocktail waitress and hostess for the Rogue Valley Country Club for 34 years, retiring in 1989. In the early 1940s, she was a waitress at the old Valentine's Cafe, and later worked for Harry and David.

She was a 55-year member of Eagles Lodge No. 2093. She was active in the Ladies Auxiliary and attended the conventions.

Mrs. Coghill enjoyed cooking, baking, canning and macrame.

Survivors include a son, Daniel Lee, Medford; a daughter, Janice Comstock, Sacramento, Calif.; three sisters, Harriet "Winnie" Slead, Maxine Mumford and Betty Perdue, all of Medford; three granddaughters; two grandsons; and five great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Edwin, Frank and Dean Smith; and one sister, Dorothy Huff.

Friends may pay their respects from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Memory Gardens Mortuary, Bellinger and Arnold Lanes, Medford.

Earl Harrison Smith

The memorial service for Earl Harrison Smith will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Christian Church of Shady Cove. Everett Cade of the Christian Church of Shady Cove will officiate.

Mr. Smith, 68, of Shady Cove, died Monday (March 15, 1999) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 10, 1930, in Bakersfield, Calif.

On Sept. 9, 1947, in Bakersfield, he married Bettie Marian Whisnan, who survives.

Mr. Smith was a carpenter for the Carpenters Union No. 1800 in California; he retired at 43 because of his health.

He was a member of of the Christian Church of Shady Cove.

Mr. Smith enjoyed fishing, traveling and camping.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four daughters, Kimberly Smith, Medford, Susan Power, Shady Cove, Debra Burger, Santa Maria, Calif., and Karen Armstrong, San Pedro, Calif.; three brothers, Jim, Eagle Point, Frank, Shady Cove, and Daniel, Brookings, Calif.; a sister, Daisy Smith, Shady Cove; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Dana Oscar Zwierlein

The graveside service for Dana Oscar Zwierlein will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Eagle Point National Cemetery. Chaplain Wayne Bell of the Veterans Affairs Domiciliary will officiate.

Mr. Zwierlein, 44, of White City, died Thursday (March 11, 1999) at his home.

He was born Feb. 8, 1955, in Crescent City, Calif.

Mr. Zwierlein worked in lumber mills.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Zwierlein was a life member of the Disabled Veterans of American.

He enjoyed animals, the outdoors, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include a brother, Daniel, San Bernardino, Calif.; and a sister, Deby Zwierlein-Carter, Tahoe City, Calif.

James Richard Jackson

The graveside service for James Richard Jackson will be at 3 p.m. today in Central Point Masonic Cemetery.

Mr. Jackson, 46, of Medford, died Saturday (March 13, 1999) at his home.

He was born April 3, 1952, in San Jose, Calif. He moved to the Rogue Valley seven years ago from San Jose.

Mr. Jackson enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and playing the guitar.

Survivors include his mother, Shirley Jackson, Medford; his father, James W., San Jose, Calif.; two brothers, Thomas M., Glendale, Ariz., and Steven M. Phoenix, Ariz.; and two sisters, Linda D. Jackson, Central Point, and Sharon L. Buscemi, San Jose, Calif.
