Nicci Scott

The funeral for Blythe Nicole "Nicci" Scott will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Faith Bible Center, 2200 Roberts Road, Medford. Pastor Gary Matsdorf will officiate. Interment will be private.

Nicci, 14, of Central Point, died Monday (July 13, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

She was born July 7, 1984, in Yuba City, Calif.

She lived in Marysville, Calif., and then four years in Roseburg before moving to the Rogue Valley in 1992.

Nicki was home schooled. She was a member of the Ashland Christian Fellowship where she was active in Sunday school activities.

She enjoyed outdoor activities.

Survivors include her mother, Helen Jean Petty, Central Point; her stepfather, Kevin Matthews, Central Point; a brother, James Jr., Central Point; two sisters, Brittany Scott and Amanda Scott, both Central Point; and her grandparents.

Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives Alder Creek.

Edith Grace Watkins

The memorial service for Edith Grace Watkins will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Hillcrest Memorial Chapel, Medford. The Rev. Lawrence Jung of the Jacksonville First Presbyterian Church will officiate.

Mrs. Watkins, 87, formerly of Medford, died Tuesday (July 14, 1998) at Bortz Health Center in Oakland, Mich. Her home was in Washington, Mich.

She was born Edith Wheeler on June 9, 1911, in Dugger, Ind.

Mrs. Watkins was a member of the Phoenix Church of Christ.

Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Nazar, Washington, Mich.; a sister, Dorothy Knox, Corunna, Mich.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Her husband, Wilford, died in 1975; and a son, Thomas, in 1980.

Local arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary, Medford.

Naoma Jean McTevia

Naoma Jean McTevia, 73, of Medford, died Tuesday (July 14, 1998) at her home. No local service is planned. Interment will be in the Eagle Point National Cemetery.

She was born Naoma Haislip on Oct. 14, 1924, in Glendale, Calif.

On Sept. 2, 1944, in Walla Walla, Wash., she married Lawrence E. McTevia, who died in 1990. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1959 from Southern California.

Mrs. McTevia worked at Lockheed Aircraft during World War II.

She spent most of her life taking care of others.

Mrs. McTevia enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include three sons, Marvin, Medford, and Gary and Art, both Jacksonville; a sister, Marie Holley, Yachats; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Eddie Haislip; and a sister, Juanita Haislip.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

William F. Saxbury

The memorial service for William Fredrick Saxbury will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Central Point. The Rev. Dwayne Brown will officiate. Interment will be at 9:30 a.m. in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Saxbury, 70, of Central Point, died Wednesday (July 15, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to Crater Foundation, Saxbury Fund, 451 N. Second St., Central Point, OR 97502.

He was born Feb. 8, 1928, in Queen City, Mo.

On Aug. 28, 1949, in Kirksville, Mo., he married Mary Jo Whiteside, who survives.

Mr. Saxbury had served on the Central Point city council and as Central Point mayor and was active in numerous civic activities. He was a 50-year supporter of Central Point School District sports.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Central Point.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Debbie Saxbury, Central Point; his mother, Stella Mann, Medford; a brother, Franklin, Central Point; and four grandchildren. A son, David, died Feb. 8, 1998.

Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. today in Hillcrest Chapel.

W.C. `Bill' Geear

W.C. "Bill" Geear, 83, of Eagle Point, died Tuesday (July 14, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private service was held Wednesday. Interment was in the Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hearthstone, Alzheimer's Unit, 2901 E. Barnett Road, Medford, OR 97504.

He was born April 17, 1915, in Martinez, Calif.

On June 21, 1944, in Glendale, Calif., he married Anna Stevenson, who survives.

Mr. Geear was an appraiser for Jackson County.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy as a lieutenant junior grade on board the battleship USS Indiana.

Mr. Geear enjoyed fishing and watching TV shows.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Skip Geear; and two grandchildren.

Irene R. Sanner

Irene R. Sanner, 77, of Medford, died Friday (July 10, 1998) at her home. No service is planned.

She was born Irene Waxbom on Dec. 27, 1920, in Montesano, Wash.

On April 22, 1940, in Twin Falls, Idaho, she married Galen W. Sanner, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1956 from Elgin.

Mrs. Sanner was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile and Rogue Valley Country Club, where she founded the 9 Hole Group of golfers. She also enjoyed cooking, camping and fishing in the Brookings area.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters, Sandra Lee Rackley, Carson City, Nev., and Galen Dee Tornay, Smith River, Calif.; four sisters, Florence Kama, Imbler, Edria Miller, Marsing, Idaho, Lois Rinehart, Napa Valley, Calif., and Verna Story, Boise, Idaho; three grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. A brother preceded her in death.

Letha M. Oestreich

Letha M. Oestreich, 90, of Medford, died Monday (July 6, 1998) at Royale Garden Health Care, Grants Pass. A private service was held in the Grants Pass Masonic Cemetery.

She was born Letha Otis on July 8, 1907, in Cornelius.

In 1932, in Roseburg, she married Carl Oestreich, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Oestreich was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Medford and Reames Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include a sister, Gertrude Rhodes, Waldport.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Services-Siskiyou, Medford.

Pearl A. Robertson

The memorial service for Pearl A. Robertson will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Tigard Christian Church. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Mountain View Cemetery, Ashland.

Mrs. Robertson, 94, formerly of the Rogue Valley, died Tuesday (July 14, 1998) at the Tappan Foster Care Home in Beaverton.

She was born Pearl Pinion on April 1, 1904, in Sparks, Oklahoma Territory.

In 1923, in Weed, Calif., she married Ragnwald Robertson, who died in 1982.

Mrs. Robertson had lived in Klamath County, the Rogue Valley and the Portland area.

She was a member of the Tigard Christian Church and Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include five daughters, Helen Martin, Medford, Betty Ovren, Mary Anne Lilly and Dora Wisely, all Beaverton, and Beverly Inacker, San Carlos Bay, Mexico; a son, Don, Portland; a brother, James L. Pinion, Dexter; a sister, Mary Puter, Klamath Falls; 19 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Young's Funeral Home, Tigard.

Christopher McGowan

Christopher Thomas McGowan, two months, son of Robert McGowan and Karra Derry, of Central Point, died Saturday (July 11, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private service was held in Siskiyou Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Doernbecher Children's Hospital, 3181 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, OR. 97201.

He was born May 7, 1998, in Portland.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a brother, Nichlous, Central Point; and grandparents, Pam Derry, Lawrence and Christine Williams, Central Point, and Robert and Kathi McGowan.
