Charles J. White Jr.

The memorial service for Charles J. White Jr. was held Saturday at the family home in Central Point.

Mr. White, 57, of Central Point, died Friday (June 26, 1998) of cancer at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Community Health Foundation, Hospice, 1111 Crater Lake Ave., Medford, OR 97504.

He was born Dec. 6, 1940, in Norwich, Conn.

Mr. White served in the U.S. Coast Guard.

He worked in commercial vessel salvage, commercial and recreational charters, nautical engineering and shipbuilding, commercial and residential architecture, and heating and air conditioning.

Mr. White moved to Central Point in 1989 from San Francisco.

He was an avid traveler and enjoyed skiing, river rafting golfing, and motorcycles.

Survivors include his companion, Judy Jubera, Central Point; three sons, Charles J. III, Fairfax, Va., Christopher C., Charleston, S.C., and Vincent V., Costa Mesa, Calif.; his mother, Bernice T. White, Riverside, Calif.; two sisters, Etta Beatty, Waverly, N.Y., and Janice T. Yanez, Adelanto, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Arrangements: Southern Oregon Cremation Society, Grants Pass.

George W. Pray

George William Pray, 63, of Medford, died Wednesday (June 24, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private service is planned.

He was born May 5, 1935, in Marseilles, Ill.

On Feb. 28, 1978, in Carmel-by-the-Sea, Calif., he married Iris Hamp, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1992 from Redding, Calif.

Mr. Pray enjoyed flower gardening and bird watching.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, William, Medford; two daughters, Melody Pray and Dawn Pray, both Sacramento, Calif.; his mother, Mabel Lass, Antioch, Ill.; and two sisters, Lee Carlson, Antioch, and Rosie Engleshien, Waverly, Tenn. A brother, Laverne Campbell, preceded him in death.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation & Funeral Care, Central Point.

Ray Wilber Black

The funeral for Ray Wilber Black will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland. The Rev. Ray Orndoff of Clay Street Community Church of God will officiate. Interment will follow in Stearns Cemetery, Talent.

Mr. Black, 67, of Ashland, died Friday (June 26, 1998) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Clay Street Community Church of God, 631 Clay St., Ashland, OR 97520.

He was born Sept. 11, 1930, in Ashland, a son of Jess W. and Irene Bushnell Black.

He was a 1949 graduate of Medford High School.

On Oct. 28, 1949, in Medford, he married Sylvia Ann Waite, who survives.

Mr. Black worked for Oak Street Tank & Steel for 39 years.

He enjoyed the outdoors, reading, woodwork, and travel.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Southern Oregon Sams Club, and Clay Street Community Church of God.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Michael Ray, Talent, Russell Dean, Phoenix, and Dennis Lee, Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters, Diana Lynne Whitmire, Talent, and Brenda Kay Wright, Anchorage; a brother, Clarence Pyle, Longview, Wash.; and eight grandchildren. His twin brother, Roy; two sisters, Marie Alice Black and Bessie Kauffman; and a grandson preceded him in death.

Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Roma Gross Humphrey

Roma Gross Humphrey, 88, of Medford, died Monday (June 22, 1998) at Royal Oak Retirement Center. No service is planned. Inurnment will be in Siskiyou Memorial Park.

She was born Roma Maxine Gross on Nov. 5, 1909, in Eugene.

On June 2, 1935, in Eugene, she married Eston Humphrey, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Humphrey was a 1932 graduate of the University of Oregon where she was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority.

A member of Providence Guild, she had been an active since 1974.

Survivors include two sons, John, Gold Hill, and Walter, Rainier; a daughter, Martha Straube, Jacksonville; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Perl Funeral Services-Siskiyou, Medford.

Alta B. Kendall

Alta B. Kendall, 98, of Medford, died Wednesday (June 24, 1998) at her home. A private service was held.

She was born Alta Landon on Sept. 14, 1899, in Barton, Clackamas County.

In December 1928, in Grants Pass, she married Leonard J.P. Kendall, who preceded her in death. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1996 from Portland.

Mrs. Kendall was a teacher in Grants Pass before her marriage.

She was an avid reader.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Seegelken, Weed, Calif.; a son, Phil, Portland; a sister, Zella Folsom, Gresham; and two granddaughters.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Dr. Alfred Ianora Jr.

Mass will be celebrated for Alfred Anthony Ianora Jr. at 10 a.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Medford.

Dr. Ianora, 62, of Medford, died Wednesday (June 24, 1998) at his home.

He was born Jan. 14, 1936.

Dr. Ianora, a physician in the Eugene/Springfield area for many years, moved to Medford in 1993.

On July 1, 1996, in Medford, he married Diana J. Smalley, who survives.

Dr. Ianora attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church. An avid gardener and cook, he also enjoyed golf and his motorcycle.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four daughters, Serena Brophy, Salem, Victoria Ianora, Eugene, Lena Forrester, Palatine, Ill., and Trisha Ianora, Olympia, Wash.; a son, Joseph, Pleasant Hill, Calif.; his mother, Lena Ianora, Roslyn, N.Y.; a sister, Maria Faragamo; and four grandchildren.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Jean E. Sharinghousen

Jean E. Sharinghousen, 75, formerly of Medford, died Tuesday (May 19, 1998) at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland. Her home was in Scappoose.

No service is planned. Inurnment was in the family plot in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Portland.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Association of Oregon, 3330 N.W. Yeon, Portland, OR 97210.

Survivors include two daughters, Penny and Edye; a son, Mark; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Her husband, Larry L. Sharinghousen, died in 1978.

Arrangements: Autumn Burial and Cremation, Beaverton.

Littles River Cole

Littles River Cole, infant daughter of John Cole and Brandy Morehouse of Central Point, died Thursday (June 18, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private service is planned.

She was born June 18, 1998, in Medford.

Survivors, in addition to her parents, include a sister, Octavia Cole, Central Point; grandparents, Sandra Maish, Central Point, Linda and Arvin Cole, Medford, and Paul Morehouse, Roseburg; and great-grandparents, Harold and Frances Seems, Central Point, and Woody and Ruth Ritchey, Eugene.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation & Funeral Care, Central Point.
