Floyd E. Barnes
The graveside service for Floyd E. Barnes will be at 3 p.m. today in the Eagle Point National Cemetery. The Rev. Emmett Shortreed of First United Methodist Church of Medford will officiate.
Mr. Barnes, 82, of Central Point, died Wednesday (March 4, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 20, 1915, in Smith Center, Kan.
On Dec. 13, 1941, in Denver, he married Ione E. Smith, who survives.
During World War II, he was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving in the Engineering Training Section at Fort Lewis, Wash. They moved to Oregon in 1945.
Mr. Barnes owned and operated a gas station, rental yard and camper sales business in Medford.
He was a member of the Medford Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans, and supported youth activities including the Medford go-kart track.
He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Toby Kaye
MacLauchlan, Medford; a son, Richard C., Magalia, Calif.; a sister, Ruby Hecht, Red Cloud, Neb.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Harris; and four brothers, Orval, Bill, Glenn and Lloyd.

Ted F. Martens Jr.
The graveside service for Theodore "Ted" F. Martens Jr. will be at 2 p.m. today in the Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Martens, 50, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday (March 3, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
He was born April 18, 1947, in Omaha, Neb.
During the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Army Special Service Division. He played guitar in an Army band entertaining the troops.
Mr. Martens moved to the Rogue Valley 13 years ago.
On July 21, 1989, in Reno, Nev., he married Vicky Reasoner, who survives.
Mr. Martens was a residential construction carpenter with Lovelace Construction in Grants Pass.
He was a member of the Omaha Musicians Association and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America.
He enjoyed pool and golf.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Teddy, Grants Pass; a daughter, Amy Martens, Clovis, Calif.; his mother, Josephine Martens, Omaha; two brothers, Richard, Anaheim, Calif., and William, Omaha; and four sisters, Rosemary Gohr, Shirley Dagerman, Carol Anderson, and Betty Hart, all Omaha.
He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore, in 1969; and two sisters, Joan Stiles, in 1997; and Patty Martens.

Anna McClanahan
Friends and relatives of Anna McClanahan will share their reminiscences of her at a gathering at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 772 Black Oak Drive, Medford. Private interment was in the Eastwood Cemetery.
Mrs. McClanahan, 60, of Medford, died Tuesday (March 3, 1998) at her home.

She was born Anna Quaiser on May 13, 1937, in Baracka, Hungary.
On Dec. 1, 1961, in Nellingen Auf Den Fildern, Germany, she married Stanley D. McClanahan, who survives.
They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1993 from Reno, Nev.
Mrs. McClanahan enjoyed gardening.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Edith Martin, Reno; two sons, Ronald and Roy, both Sparks, Nev.; and a brother, Sigfried Quaiser, Kirchheim, Germany.

O. Kenneth Anderson
The memorial service for O. Kenneth Anderson will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Hillcrest Chapel, Medford. Buzz Fish of Warren Lodge No. 10, Jacksonville, will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Anderson, 87, of Medford, died Monday (March 2, 1998) at his home.

He was born Dec. 24, 1910, near Brownsville, and grew up in the Rogue Valley. His ancestors settled in the area in 1853.
On May 22, 1941, in Fairbanks, Alaska, he married Rhoda S. Putzig, who survives.
Mr. Anderson, who started with the U.S. Weather Bureau in 1928, was active in the early development of air transportation and the air weather service in Medford.
After meteorological posts in California, Alaska and the Philippines, he headed the Louisville, Ky., Weather Bureau office from 1948 until his retirement in 1969. They then returned to the Rogue Valley.
Mr. Anderson had received commendations for meritorious service from the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Mr. Anderson was an active member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the Rogue Valley Audubon Society and the Southern Oregon Historical Society. He was a life member of Medford Lodge No. 103, AF&AM, and a 60-year member of Hillah Temple Shrine, Ashland.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Glen, Medford; a cousin, Mary Vera Neilson, Medford; a grandson; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Paul; and a sister, Venita Goodwin.

John George Goldt
The memorial service for John George Goldt will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Applegate Christian Fellowship. Pastor Everett Elder will officiate.
Mr. Goldt, 82, of Rogue River, died Saturday (Feb. 28, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 27, 1915, in San Francisco.
On April 24, 1937, in Alameda, Calif., he married Alene Hatfield, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley 50 years ago from Oakland, Calif.
Mr. Goldt was a dairyman.
He was a member of the 55-Alive Club at Applegate Christian Fellowship, and enjoyed hiking, traveling and bicycling.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Michael, Rogue River; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A daughter, Kathleen Barnes, died in 1972; a son, Timothy, in 1993; and a granddaughter, in 1972. Two sisters also preceded him in death.
Neal E. Shafer
The memorial service for Neal E. Shafer will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Medford Congregational Church.
Mr. Shafer, 76, of Medford, died Wednesday (March 4, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 31, 1921, in Hastings, Neb.
During World War II, he served in the 8th Air Force, U.S. Army Air Corps and flew a B-17 on 35 bombing missions.
On Feb. 5, 1944, in Stockton, Calif., he married Lyola Roeske, who survives.
They moved to Grants Pass in 1983 from Washington Crossing, Pa., then lived in Prescott and Fountain Hills, Ariz., before moving to Medford in 1997.
Mr. Shafer received his master's degree in 1948 from the University of Nebraska.
From 1948 to 1959, he taught weed science and developed the airplane spraying project at the University of Nebraska.
Mr. Shafer was director of plant science for the International Agriculture Division of American Cyanamid Corp. in Princeton, N.J., from 1959 until retiring in 1985.
For 25 years, he was involved in research and development of agricultural products and their applications.
He was a member of the Medford Congregational Church and enjoyed gardening and golfing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Andrea Wegner, Grants Pass, and Jeannine Shafer, Oregon City; two sons, Steven, Omaha, Neb., and Gregory, Palm Springs, Fla.; a brother, Charles, Phillipsburg, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Jerry M. Myers
The memorial service for Jerry M. Myers will be at 4 p.m. Friday in the Hull & Hull Chapel, Grants Pass.
Mr. Myers, 43, of Grants Pass, died Sunday (March 1, 1998) on West Pickett Creek Road.

He was born May 6, 1954, in Ukiah, Calif. In 1959, the family moved to Grants Pass from California.
Mr. Myers was a 1973 graduate of Grants Pass High School, where he excelled in wrestling and football.
For 25 years, he worked at Southern Oregon Plywood in Grants Pass and Boise Cascade in Medford. He also was a general contractor, building several homes in the area.
Mr. Myers enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.
Survivors include his wife, Lori Myers, Grants Pass; three daughters, Renda Myers, Trisha Myers and Jakki Myers, all Grants Pass; a son, Heath, Grants Pass; a stepson, Chris McAlmond, Grants Pass; his parents, Dillard and Ionie Myers, Grants Pass; a sister, Elaine Brown, Dora, Ala.; two brothers, Ray, Grants Pass, and Dillard Odell, Oceanside, Calif.; and his first wife, Terri Cooper.
