Egan, Donald A.,
Egan, Donald A., died Thursday morning December 2, 2004 at Manatawny Manor after a lengthy illness. Mr. Egan was born on April 29, 1926, in Easton, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Clarence and Catherine (Jepson) Egan. He was 78.
Mr. Egan was raised in Atlantic City, New Jersey where he attended local schools. He worked as a salesman for several different companies, the last of which was United Rescue Service in Bristol, Pennsylvania. As a young man he was a singer in a band and an avid dancer. His  Father owned a small airfield in New Jersey so he and his brothers learned to fly at an early age. He enjoyed freelance photography. Mr. Egan was a great lover of animals, especially horses.
Mr. Egan is survived by his daughter, Donna Levine of Downingtown and was looking forward to being a grandfather in the Spring. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Sharon Dietz of Sykesville, Maryland, Marie Funk of Perkasie, Pa. and Richard Curlett, Jr. of Bensalem. Also surviving is his brother, William Egan of Pensacola, Florida, and his sister, Betty Miley of Cocoa Beach, Florida.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service, Sunday, December 5, 2004, 3 PM, at Manatawny Manor, 30 Old Schuylkill Rd., Pottstown. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Egan’s memory may be made to the “Milestone Unit” of Manatawny Manor, 30 Old Schuylkill Rd., Pottstown, PA 19464 Arrangements are by the Ruggiero Funeral Home, Trappe.

Hovatter, Jerry,
Hovatter, Jerry, of N. Charlotte St. in Pottstown, passed away on December 2, 2004. Mr. Hovatter was born on October 6, 1976 in the Bronx, New York, a son of Rex Hovatter of McKeesport and Anna B. (Garcia) Kessler of Pottstown, with whom he resided. He was 28.
Mr. Hovatter was a 1988 graduate of Pottstown High School. He was a millwright by trade. He loved video games, movies and sports.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hovatter is survived by 2 brothers, Luis Hovatter of Reading and Michael J Kessler of Reading, and by 2 sisters, Judea Couch and Sarah Kessler, both of Pottstown. Also surviving are his paternal grandmother, Mary Scott of McKeesport, his maternal grandmother, Maria Garcia of Pottstown, and his stepfather, Sheldon J. Kessler of Pottstown.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service, Monday, December 13, 2004, 8 PM at the Ruggiero Funeral Home, 224 W. Main Street, Trappe. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 PM Monday. Interment will be private.

Pino, Anna E. (Vutto),
Pino, Anna E. (Vutto) of Fort Lauderdale, formerly of Philadelphia, died Wednesday, December 1, 2004, at St. John’s Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Pino was born in Philadelphia on July 13,1910, a daughter of the late Anthony and Antionette Vutto. She was 94.
Mrs. Pino was born and raised in Philadelphia. She owned and operated a fruit and produce store at the corner of Dupont and Wilde Streets in Manayunk until the birth of her children. She was a member of St. Lucy’s Sodality and St. Lucy and Holy Family parishes in Manayunk. Her focus in life was always on raising her children.
Mrs. Pino was the widow of Peter P. Pino. She is survived by her children; Frank Pino of Atlanta, Georgia, Anthony Pino of Allentown, Elaine Pino of Fort Lauderdale, Peter Pino of Atlanta, Georgia, and Gerald Pino of Collegeville. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marie, and by her siblings; John, Joe, Dominic, Salvadore, Michael, William, Mary and Rose.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass, Monday, December 6, 2004, 10:30 AM at St. Eleanor Catholic Church, 6th Ave & Locust St., Collegeville. Friends may call at the church after 9 AM Monday. Entombment will be in the Limerick Garden of Memories.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Pino’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 539 Lane Ave., Memphis, Tennessee 39105 or to the Carmelite Monastery, St. Therese’s Valley, 3551 Lanark Rd., Coopersburg, Pa. 18036.

Funfer, Edward B., Jr.,
Funfer, Edward B., Jr., died on November 28, 2004,at the Montgomery County Geriatric Center in Upper Providence after a lengthy illness. Mr. Funfer was born on November 1, 1967, in Pottstown, a son of the late Edward B. and Sharon Lee (Hansell) Funfer. He was 37.
Mr. Funfer graduated from Norristown High School but was disabled and unable to work for most of his life.
Mr. Funfer is survived by 2 sisters, Diane McKelvey of Greenville, South Carolina and Michelle Y. Funfer-Gary of Norristown, and by his aunt, Clara Silcox of King of Prussia.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Graveside Service, Monday, December 27, 2004, 11 AM, at the Limerick Garden of Memories, 44 Swamp Pike, Limerick. Arrangements are by the Ruggiero Funeral Home, Trappe.

Collins, Catherine "Katie" (Burns),
Collins, Catherine “Katie” A. (Burns) died Wednesday, November 24, 2004, at Phoenixville Hospital. Mrs. Collins was born on February 28, 1923, in Newtown, Bucks County, the oldest of 7 children of Thomas and Marie (Hennessey) Burns. She was 81.
Mrs. Collins attended St. Andrew’s Grade School and graduated from Newtown High School. She was a homemaker and also worked at Lees Carpets in Lower Providence for many years.
Mrs. Collins was a member of St. Eleanor Catholic Church in Collegeville and a long-time member of the Women’s Guild. She was also in a Sewing Club with her sisters-in-law. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and quilting. She liked to cook and bake and loved her trips to Ireland.
Mrs. Collins was the widow of Howard Collins. She was the beloved mother of Marie E. Hartman of Harleysville, Christine A. Williams of Lancaster, Daniel J. Collins of Worcester, and the late Timothy Collins. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren and by her siblings; Thomas Patrick Burns of Newtown, Mary “Kick” Lentino of Philadelphia, Marguerite “Petey” Billingsley of Winthrop, Ark., Lucille Bianchi of Branchville, NJ, and Raymond Burns of Ephrata. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis Burns.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass, Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, 10:30 AM at St. Eleanor Catholic Church, 6th Ave. & Locust St. Collegeville. Friends may cal from 9 to 10 AM Tuesday at the Ruggiero Funeral Home, 224 W. Main Street, Trappe. Interment will be in the Limerick Garden of Memories.

Elliott, Thomas S.,
Elliott, Thomas S., of Arcola, died Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at Lankenau Hospital in Lower Merion. Mr. Elliott was born on August 14, 1932, a son of the late William and Marjorie (Desmond) Elliott. He was 72.
Mr. Elliott was a retired self-employed cabinetmaker. He attended Episcopal Academy and earned a degree in agriculture from Delaware Valley College in Bucks County. He also enjoyed woodworking and wood carving.
However, Mr. Elliott was best known for his association with the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 531, in Upper Providence, a relationship that lasted for 42 years. He was Assistant Scout Master for 15 years and then, Scout Master for 27 years He received many awards during his tenure, among them were; the Award of Merit, and the Silver Beaver. He served on the Training Committee and as a staff member, as a summer camp staff member, was the Wood Badge Scoutmaster, and a member of the Beaver Patrol.
Mr. Elliott is survived by his wife Margaret L. “Peg” Elliott, by his children: Wade F. Elliott of Royersford and Kim Elliott Proud of Denver, PA; by his step-children, David A. Mayberry of Mont Clare, Kevin R. Mayberry of W. Milford, NJ, Wayne D. Mayberry of Turnersville, NJ, and Linda A. Acerba of Schwenksville. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Ian M. Proud, Kallan H. Elliott, Alex Mayberry6, Ryan Mayberry and Kelly Anne Acerba and his brother Lewis Henry Elliott III of Orlando, Florida; his sisters Sarah Templeton and Patricia Torrance both of Collegeville, and Katherine Elliott of Bronxville, NY, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service, Sunday, December 5, 2004, 3 PM, at the Valley Forge Presbyterian Church, Prince Frederick and Town Center Rds., King of Prussia. Officiating will be Rev. James Tanis. Friends may call at the church after 2 PM Sunday. Interment will be private.

Ritchie, Diane M.,
Ritchie, Mrs. Dolores M. (Bower), of Collegeville, died Sunday, November 14, 2004, at Praxis Health Center in Easton after a long battle with Pick’s Disease. Mrs. Ritchie was born in Philadelphia on April 24, 1943, a daughter of the late William and Eleanor (Kinsler) Bower.
Mrs. Ritchie graduated from the Abington Hospital School of Nursing. She was a homemaker. She was an avid reader, loved her grandchildren, and had served as a volunteer at a literacy program in Philadelphia.
Mrs. Ritchie is survived by her husband, Dennis Ritchie. Also surviving are their children; Theresa Fogerty of Newport, RI., Diane Lamont of Skippack, and Christopher Ritchie of Patuxa Rivre, MD.. Also surviving are her brother, Kenneth of Philadelphia and 8 grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Mass, Thursday, November 19, 2004, 10:30 AM at St. Eleanor Catholic Church, 6th Ave. & Locust St, Collegeville. Friends may call at the church after 10 AM Thursday. Interment will be private.

Adams, George L,
Adams, George L., of Royersford, died Sunday evening, January 30, 2005, at the Montgomery County Geriatric and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Adams was born in Philadelphia on March 19, 1911, a son of Orville Coleman Adams. He was 93.
Mr. Adams owned and operated a restaurant along with his wife until his retirement.
Mr. Adams is survived by his daughter, Anna, and by l niece and l nephew. Services and interment will be private. Arrangements are by the Ruggiero Funeral Home, Trappe.

Sweet, Shirley A.,
Sweet, Shirley, A. (Ratcliffe), of King of Prussia, died January 27. 2005, at Mercy Suburban Hospital in East Norriton.. Mrs. Sweet was born on December 6, 1923, in Rochester, New York, a daughter of the late Harry and Melinda (Kutchel) Ratcliffe. She was 72.
Mrs. Sweet was an artist and a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Mrs. Sweet was the widow of Richard Sweet. She is survived by her son, Jonathon of King of Prussia.
Services and interment, private. Arrangements are by the Ruggiero Funeral Home, Trappe

White, Joseph C.,
White, Joseph C., of Royersford, died Thursday, January 13, 2005, at his home. Mr. White was born on May 30, 1920, in Linfield, a son of the late Charles and Margaret (Rogucas) White. He was 84.
Mr. White graduated from the former Royersford High School. He worked for over 30 years at Diamond Glass in Royersford. During World War II he served in the Army Coast Artillery.
Mr. White is survived by his daughter, Debra Connor of Lewisville, Texas, and by his sister, Anne Marascalco of Tucson, Arizona.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service, Thursday, January 27, 2005, 10 AM at Ruggiero Funeral Home, 224 W. Main Street, Trappe. Interment will be private in Fernwood cemetery, Royersford.

Greene, Erma J. (Sherman),
Greene, Erma J. (Sherman), of Reading, formerly of Clark Summit, died Wednesday evening, January 12, 2005, at the Wyomissing Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Greene was born on March 4, 1922, in Scranton, a daughter of the late Frank and Pearl (Brezee) Sherman. She was 82.
Mrs. Greene attended Abington Heights High School. She was a homemaker who lived most of her life in Clark Summit, PA, and whose focus in life was on raising her 8 children.
Mrs. Greene was the mother of Linda Varner of Thompsontown, PA; Betsy Davenport of New Milford, PA; Peter Greene of Boyertown, PA; Robert Greene of Nashville, TN; Susan Morris of Reading, PA; Kathy Manning of LaCenter, WA; Stephen Greene of Albany, NY; and the late Gloria Norton. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, her sister, Reba Lisk of Clark Summit. She was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Sherman.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Ruggiero Funeral Home, Trappe.

Nicholson, S. Francis,
Nicholson, S. Francis, of Kennett Square died Monday, January 10, 2005, at Kendal-at-Longwood. Mr. Nicholson was born on May 29, 1900, in Baltimore, Maryland, a son of the late S. Edgar and Rhoda Elma (Parker) Nicholson. He was 104.
Mr. Nicholson was educated at the Westtown School, Earlham College, and the Harvard Business School. He was employed by the Provident Trust Company (subsequently PNC) for 42 years, retiring in 1965 as Vice-President in charge of the Trust Investment Department. He pioneered studies of price-earnings ratios in relation to stock performance. He was a member of the Financial Analysts of Philadelphia where he served as president for a term and from which he received the first annual Philadelphia Investment Achievement Award in 1988.
Mr. Nicholson served many Quaker institutions in volunteer financial capacities including the American Friends Service Committee, Friends Fiduciary Corporation, Westtown School, Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, and the Media Monthly Meeting of Friends of which he was a member He was an avid vegetable gardener and for 33 years was the piano accompanist for the Rose Valley Chorus’ Gilbert and Sullivan productions.
Mr. Nicholson was pre-deceased by his wife, Evelyn Haworth Nicholson, and is survived by three children, James V. Nicholson, Frances Nicholson Beer, and Joan H. Nicholson, by 7 grandchildren, and by nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Shaw, Bruce R.,
SHAW, Bruce R., passed on March 16, 2005, at home in Gilbertsville surrounded by family and friends. Mr. Shaw was born in Philadelphia on June 20, 1945, a son of the late Harry and Anne (Lazer) Shaw. He was 59.
Bruce was a graduate of Delaware Valley College in Doylestown. He was the purchasing manager for Reading Area Community College. During the Vietnam conflict, he served in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed gardening and bonsai. He was an avid scuba diver and delighted in recalling his exciting trips under the sea in the Caribbean.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Carol (Good) Mulone Shaw and by his brother, Mark Shaw of Runnemede, New Jersey.
Bruce has requested that his ashes be scattered off of Cinnamon Bay in St. John, Virgin Islands. A Memorial Service will be held at a later time.

Rees, Irma V. (Dreslin),
Rees, Irma V. (Dreslin), a resident of Golden Age Manor in Royersford, died Friday evening, March 11, 2005, at Phoenixville Hospital after an illness. Mrs. Rees was born on August 23, 1917 in Norristown, a daughter of the late John and Irma (Houston) Dreslin. She was 87.
Mrs. Rees attended Norristown schools. She worked as a computer operator for Lee’s Carpet, now Burlington Industries, in Bridgeport for many years.
Mrs. Rees was past President of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of Norristown Manneor Chor and a life member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the VFW in Norristown. She loved flowers and plants, reading, and visiting Victorian Cape May, New Jersey. But her greatest love was her large family.
Mrs. Rees was the widow of Walter J. Rees, Jr. She is survived by 5 children: Enid, wife of Joseph Pecharo of Norristown, Denis and his wife, Kathi, of Royersford, Larry and his wife, Ellen, of Pottstown, Neil and his wife, Mary, of Audubon, and Glenn and his wife Dawn, of Royersford. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren; Sean, Scott & Steven McDevitt; Jeffrey & Maegan Rees; Steven & Kevin Rees; Lauren, Kate, Jill & Stacey Rees; and Lisa & Sara Rees; and 4 great-grandchildren, Rees & Lea McDevitt and Kelsey and Raegan McDevitt. She was preceded in death by her sister, Frances Wein
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mrs. Rees’ Memorial Service, Saturday, March 19, 11 AM, at the Ruggiero Funeral Home, 224 W. Main Street, Trappe. Officiating will be Mrs. Rees’ niece, Pastor Mary W. Gade of the Lutheran Congregation of Ziegels Union Church. Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 AM Saturday. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Mrs. Rees’ memory to the American Red Cross, 2300 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103.

An, Shurong, of China, while on a visit here to her son, died March 10, 2005, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
