Ruth H. Miller

LEWISBURG -- Funeral services for Ruth H. Miller, who died Dec. 23, 2001, were held Thursday in St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Lewisburg, with the Rev. Andrew Morgan officiating. Burial was in Highland cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Steven and Christopher Ranck, John Dyer, Joseph and Andrew Miller and David Moyer.

Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service handled arrangements.

A. Emery Bieber

TURBOTVILLE -- A. Emery Bieber, 88, of King Street, Turbotville, died Saturday, June 15, 2002, in his home, on he and his wife's 52nd wedding anniversary.

He was born May 1, 1914, in Delaware Township, a son of the late Harry and Mary Susan (Raup) Bieber.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville. The Rev. Charla M. Grieves, his pastor, will officiate.

Burial will follow in Presbyterian cemetery, McEwenville.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Watsontown Lodge 401 will conduct a memorial service at 8:45 p.m.

The family will provide the flowers. Memorial contributions can be made to Organ Fund of St. James Church or Evangelical Hospice.

Brandon James Yonkin

HUGHESVILLE -- Brandon James Yonkin, 19, of 121 Cottage St., Hughesville, died Friday, June 14, 2002, in an automobile accident on Wolf Run Road, near Hughesville.

He was born July 7, 1982, in Williamsport, the son of Marc Duane Yonkin and Theresa Ann Day.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at McCarty Thomas Funeral Home, 557 Water St., Hughesville, with the Rev. Dan Cale, pastor of Hughesville Friends Church, officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery, Hughesville.

Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Jack E. Noll

LEWISBURG -- Jack E. Noll, 77, of Montandon died at 10:20 Saturday evening, June 15, 2002, in his home. His death follows a six month illness.

Mr. Noll was born Aug. 28, 1924, in White Deer, a son of the late Ernest M. and A. Vivian Bergenstock Noll.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Gary H. Cronrath Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg, and from 10:30 to 11 Wednesday at the Crossroads Church of the Nazarene, Montandon.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church with the Revs. Randy Smyre and Royce Lewis officiating. Burial with full military honors by members of Milton veterans organizations will follow in Montandon cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to WPGM, P.O. Box 236, Danville, Pa. 17821 or to the Building Fund of the Crossroads Church of the Nazrene, P.O. Box 1, Lewisburg, Pa. 17837.

Charles Franklin Waltman Jr.

LEWISBURG -- Charles Franklin Waltman Jr., 47, of Market Street, died Thursday, June 13, 2002.

He was born Aug. 29, 1954, in Lewisburg, the son of Charles F. Waltman and Shirley A. (Smith) Fausey.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today at the Dale E. Ranck Funeral Home, 125 N. Front St., Milton.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Jerry L. Caswell officiating. Burial will be in McEwensville cemetery.

Lamont Howell

LEWISBURG -- Lamont Howell, 27, an inmate of U.S. Penitentiary Lewisburg, was pronounced dead at 9:52 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2002, in the emergency room of Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

An autopsy will be performed later today at Lehigh Valley Medical Center, Allentown, to determine cause of death.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by James L. Schwartz Home for Funerals, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg.

Hazel Isabel Wolfgang

LEWISBURG -- Hazel Isabel Wolfgang, 68, a resident of Gilchrist Center for Hospice Care, Towson, Md., and formerly of Reistertown, Md., died Wednesday Aug. 7, 2002, in the nursing home.

She was born Oct. 16, 1933, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy Swinehart.

She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Le Roy Wolfgang.

She was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Mrs. Wolfgang was employed at Mark Hall Company as a secretary for 25 years.

She is survived by a son, Robert C. Legge of Knoxville, Tenn.; a daughter, Donna J. Legge of Pasadena, Md.; a stepdaughter, Connie L. Wolfgang of Florida; one daughter-in-law, Debbie L. Legge of Knoxville; one brother, Perry Swinehart of Lewisburg; one sister, Dorothy Swinehart of Lewisburg; her ex-husband, Donald C. Legge of Florida; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitors may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Eline Funeral Home, Reistertown.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. Harry M. Krolus officiating. Burial will be in Lazarus cemetery, Lineboro, Md.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Baltimore, 6601 N. Charles St., Baltimore, Md. 21204 or American Cancer Society, 8219 Town Center Drive, Baltimore, Md. 21236-0025.

Irene M. Blackwell

LEWISBURG -- Irene M. Blackwell, 92, a resident of RiverWoods, Lewisburg, for the last three years, and formerly of Sunbury, Milton RR1 and Lewisburg, died at 2:50 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, in the nursing home.

Born May 16, 1910, in Saint Clair, she was the daughter of the late Daniel N. and Sarah E. (Schrank) Montgomery.

Her husband, Paul Blackwell, died in 1991, after 49 years of marriage.

Mrs. Blackwell was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Lewisburg.

She is survived by a daughter, Dolores Cooper of Sunbury; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, F. Daniel Blackwell; a sister, Dorothy Tamburelli; and a brother, Frank D. Montgomery.

Friends may call from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday in Gary H. Cronrath Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. John X. Jobson, Episcopal priest of Lewisburg.

Burial will follow in Odd Fellows cemetery, Saint Clair.

Dr. Craig Mackey Kift

TURBOTVILLE -- Funeral services for Dr. Craig Mackey Kift, 80, of Turbotville RR2, who died Tuesday, Aug. 6, following a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease, were held Friday in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Paradise Street, Turbotville, with the Rev. A. Bruce Amme, his pastor, officiating.

Burial, with full military honors accorded by combined veterans organizations, was in Muncy cemetery. John Beck served as commander, Hoyt Keiser was chaplain and Donald Weaver served as bugler. Flag folders were John Waltman, Lynn Van-Dine and Donald Ale and color guard members were William Ale, Calvin Temple, John Paynter, Jeffrey Ellis, Kenneth Snyder, Harold Crawford and Dale Bush.

Pallbearers were Matthew Nankin; Steven Hudson; David Minier, his son-in-law; Craig W. Kift, his son; and Jason and Eric Kift, his grandsons.

Arrangements were handled by William F. Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville.

Nancy J. Armstrong

NEW COLUMBIA -- Funeral services for Nancy J. Armstrong of New Columbia RR1, who died Aug. 6, were held Friday afternoon in United in Christ Lutheran Church, New Columbia, with the Rev. Peter S. Bergstresser officiating. Burial was in Highland cemetery, New Columbia.

Carriers were David Armstrong, Jed Armstrong, Jeff Armstrong, Zachery Armstrong, Wade Armstrong and Charles Fisher.

Arrangements were handled by Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton.

Gerald L. Fisher

MILTON --Gerald L. Fisher, 77, of 400 Vine St., Milton, died Monday morning, Oct. 28, 2002, in his home.

Mr. Fisher was born Aug. 21, 1925, in West Milton, a son of the late Ralph D. and Leda E. (Longenberger) Fisher.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St., Milton. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Thomas B. Musser and interment with military honors will be made in Harmony cemetery, Milton.

Friends and relatives will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, West Milton, Pa. 17886.

Harry F. Bachman Sr.

DEWART -- Harry F. Bachman Sr., 74, a resident of Kramm Nursing Home, Watsontown, and formerly of Dewart, died at 5:18 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, in the nursing home.

Mr. Bachman was born July 30, 1928, in Watsontown, a son of the late Boyd R. and Anna Elizabeth (Ravet) Bachman.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main St., Muncy. The Rev. David Wilcox and Pastor Ken Paulhamus of Christ Wesleyan Church, Milton, will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill cemetery, Wolf Township, Lycoming County.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home.

Ellen Cable Eckberg

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Ellen Cable Eckberg, 95, a retired teacher and homemaker, died Oct. 24, 2002, in Ginger Cove Health Center, Annapolis, Md., of congestive heart failure.

Born in Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Eckberg graduated from Towson State Normal School.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, 1027 Saint Margaret's Dr., Annapolis, Md. 21401.

A graveside memorial service and interment will be held at 10 a.m. today in U.S. Naval Academy cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are by Taylor Funeral Home of Annapolis.

Sylvia A. Knott

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Sylvia A. Knott, 63, formerly of Lewisburg, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, in Arlington, Texas.

She was born March 14, 1939, in North Tonawanda, N.Y., the daughter of the late Stanley E. and Sophia S. Witkowski.

She retired from the U.S. Probation Services as a clerk in charge and was a eucharistic minister at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Arlington, Texas.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 5819 W. Pleasant Ridge Road, Arlington, Texas.

Kenneth H. Barnhart

WATSONTOWN -- Funeral services for Kenneth H. Barnhart, 82, of Watsontown, who died Monday Oct. 21 in Kramm's Healthcare, Watsontown, were held Saturday in Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front St., with the Rev. Jerry L. Caswell officiating.

Burial with military honors was in the McEwensville cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Gary Barnhart, Harry Shuman, Bob Bohner, Mike Bohner, Dallas Shuman and Ken Barnhart Jr. Serving as commander was Walter Neuhard; chaplain, William Karchner; color line: Ray Byers, William James, Jack Kiser and William Shultz; flagfolders: Ross Fegley, Jack Plotts, Ceril Waughn and Clarence Heckman; firing line: Commander Nevin Mensch, Richard Powell, George Bolich, Robert Moore, Harold Fetzer and Robert Izer.

John Robert "Jack" Cooney

MIFFLINBURG - John Robert "Jack" Cooney, 72, of 506 Walnut St., died at 10:27 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2001, in the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he was a patient since March 2. He was a lifetime resident of Mifflinburg.

He was born Dec. 17, 1928, in Mifflinburg, a son of Esther Mary Cooney Masaiko, of 506 Walnut St.

He was married in St. Paul's Evangelical United Brethren Church, Mifflinburg, on Dec. 24, 1949, by Rev. Keiffer to the former Edna Ruth Kahler, who survives.

He was a 1946 graduate of the Mifflinburg High School, and attended the Harrisburg Business College. He retired in 1991 after 23 years as a lab technician for International Paper Inc., Lewisburg. Prior to that, he was employed for many years by Kooltex Inc. of Mifflinburg.

He was a member of the Mifflinburg United Methodist Church and a former member of the Shade Mountain Golf Club in Middleburg.

He was well known in the area for his manufacturing and repairing of golf clubs, having operated the Cooney and Manotti Golf Club Co. for 15 years with his daughter.

He was a dedicated athlete and was noted in basketball, baseball, soccer and bowling. He was very proud of his 300 game. Until his illness, he was an avid golfer and was pleased to have made two holes-in-one, both at the Shade Mountain.

He enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren and attended many of their wrestling matches.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by five children and their spouses: Peggy A. and John R. Moser of Watsontown, John R. and Lisa A. Cooney of Frackville, Teresa G. and Earl W. Zechman of Dacula, Ga.; Andrea L. and Robert L. Manotti Jr. of Mifflinburg and David M. and Marcia J. Cooney of Mifflinburg; by 12 grandchildren and one sister, Jean Ann Cooney, Tacoma, Wash.

A service to honor Mr. Cooney's life will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Mifflinburg (St. Paul's) United Methodist Church, 325 Market St., Mifflinburg. The Rev. Ronald A. Warfle, his pastor, will officiate.

Burial will be in the Church Hill (Twin Churches) cemetery, Kelly Township, Union County, at 10 a.m. Friday. A reception will be held in the fellowship hall of the Mifflinburg United Methodist Church immediately following the service on Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation, 4351 Garden City Drive, Landover, Md. 20785-7223; or to the American Diabetes Association, Memorial Fund, PO Box 2680, North Canton, Ohio, 44720.

Funeral arrangements were by the James L. Schwartz Home for Funerals, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg.
