Joseph J. Lozito, age 85, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, in Outlook Point Nursing Home. He was born in Pittsburgh on Feb. 29, 1916, son of the late Anthony and Pauline Randazza Lozito. Mr. Lozito was a retired supervisor for Duquesne Light Co. and a World War II Navy veteran. Survived by one sister, Mary Fisher; two brothers, Angelo and Paul Lozito; also many nieces and nephews. Leonard V. Marchitelli, 81, of Avonmore, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, in Greensburg Care Center. He was born March 13, 1920, in Avonmore, a son of the late Albert and Antonina (Siragusa) Marchitelli. In 1985, he retired from National Roll Company, in Avonmore, where he had worked for 43 years as a superintendent of the roll shop. He was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church and the Kiski Township Sportsmen and Beagle Club where he served for a period of time as secretary and treasurer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Marchitelli; and an infant son, John Marchitelli. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary J. Pittman Marchitelli of Avonmore; a son, Victor L. and his wife, Tracy Marchitelli, of Avonmore; two  daughters, Mrs. William (Sharon) Pearson of Lower Burrell and Mary L. Marchitelli of Albuquerque, New Mexico; three brothers, Vincent Marchitelli of Aliso Viejo, Calif., Gene Marchitelli of Avonmore and Romeo and his wife, Phyllis Marchitelli, of Corry; two sisters, Nancy Gasho of Aliso Viejo, Calif., and Donna Jacobs of San Diego, Calif.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mary Jane Mutnansky, 82, of Ruffsdale, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, in UPMC Presbyterian. She was born Nov. 10, 1918, in Central, a daughter of the late John and Pearl (Frinfrock) Onoffrey. She attended Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant. She enjoyed hand making quilts, many of which were entered into the Westmoreland County Fair each year earning many ribbons. Surviving are her daughter, Nancy L. Miller and husband, Willis R., of Madison; a brother, John M. Onoffrey and wife, Bertha, of LaFollette, Tenn.; a sister-in-law, Jean Onoffrey of Greensburg; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael J. Mutnansky in 1981; a brother, Andrew Onoffrey; and four sisters, Elizabeth Trimbath, Dorothy Miklos, Pauline Onoffrey and Anna Losz. Friends will be received at the EUGENE G. Gloria R. Piovesan, 26, of Ruffsdale, formerly of Herminie, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, tragically in an automobile accident. She was born Dec. 3, 1974, in Jeannette, a daughter of Cindy (Long) Harshell of Herminie and George Piovesan of Connellsville. Gloria was employed as a nurse aide at the Briarcliff Pavilion, North Huntingdon. She was a member of the Wendel-Herminie #2 Athletic Association and the Boot 'n Scoot Pool League in Hutchinson. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Benjamin Long; her great-grandparents, Paul and Alice Hostock; and an uncle, David Weaver. Gloria is survived by her mother, Cindy and her stepfather, Don Harshell of Herminie; her fiance, Matthew Aaron of Ruffsdale; a sister, Brandy Anderson of Greensburg; a niece, Jasmyne Risher; her maternal grandmother, Rachel Long; her paternal grandparents, Robert and Alice Marie Piovesan; several aunts and uncles; and several cousins. Hazel H. (Felgar) Rugg, of Scottdale, passed away early Wednesday morning, Oct. 10, 2001, in her home. Hazel was born in East Huntingdon Township, the only child of the late Ray F. and Annie Rose Hays Felgar. She married Wilbur C. Rugg July 27, 1974. Hazel was a longtime resident of the Scottdale area and a former sales clerk with Morris' Clothing Store in Scottdale for 15 years. Years ago she was affiliated with the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church and attended East Huntingdon High School. Hazel also enjoyed bird watching. Hazel is survived by her loving family, her husband of 27 years, Wilbur C. Rugg; three stepdaughters, Bonnie Sandusky and husband, William, of Scottdale, Jeanne Anderson and husband, Dean, of Scottdale, and Donna Bieniek and husband, Rick, of Little Summit (Dunbar); seven grandchildren, Tyler Anderson, Addie Anderson, Hayley Anderson, Ivy Bieniek, Gretel Bieniek, Conrad Sandusky and Sadie Sandusky; and one great-grandson, Ryley Anderson. She was a member of the Church of St. Paul, Greensburg, and the Columbia Ladies Mutual Beneficial Society. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pietro G. Savini, on July 28, 1996; her daughter-in-law, Janet Savini; a granddaughter, Anna Marie Savini; three sisters, Jessie DiPietro, Yolanda Minucci and Rose Venneri; and a brother, Samuel Detore. She is survived by three sons, Donato A. ``Don" Savini and his wife, Patricia, and their children, Marc, Durc, Tim, Terri, Andrea, Michael and Denise; Camillo R. ``Bud" Savini and his wife, Kathleen, and their children, Amy and Nancy; and Jack L. Palma Volpini Shone, 75, of Miami Springs, Fla., formerly of Greensburg, passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, in her home after a six-month battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Greensburg, March 7, 1926. She moved her family to Miami in 1956 and began her career in the aviation industry. She was employed at the Miami International Airport as an executive secretary for more than 35 years. She is survived by her much-adored granddaughter, Lisa Cook; a son, James L. Cook and wife, Terry; a daughter, Toni Jeanne Cook; a sister, Lynn Lyon and husband, Dan; nieces, Diana Volpini Allen and husband, George, Carol Flandro and husband, Claude, Mary Jo Pannucci and husband, Andrew, and Patricia Webster; and a nephew, David Volpini. Her gentle way, along with her kind and giving nature, will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Megan Lynn Smith, 18, of Greensburg, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, in Altoona General Hospital. Megan was a C.O.R.E. donor. She was born Dec. 6, 1982, in Greensburg, daughter of George W. Smith Jr. and Albina Iezzi Smith of Greensburg. Megan was a freshman at the Penn State Altoona Campus. During her years at Greensburg Salem High School, Megan shone both in and out of school. Her vocal talent brought her the lead in school musicals, playing Sandy in ``Grease" her senior year and Fiona in ``Brigadoon" her junior year. She was a member of the Greensburg Salem vocal ensemble for two years and was selected to participate in County Chorus and the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association. She earned her school's Outstanding Female Vocalist award. She was class vice president and captain of the cheerleading squad, a member of the track team, the yearbook staff and the 2000 Homecoming Court. Her many achievements include the Greensburg Area Cultural Council Award for Artistic Merit in Music, the  daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award and a scholar-athletic award. Megan was named to the Youth Advisory Committee for the Community Foundation of Westmoreland County and was named to Who's Who Among American High School Students. In her community, Megan volunteered for blood drives, the Westmoreland County Food Bank and as a triathlon benefit coordinator for Habitat for Humanity. She was a cantor at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Greensburg. He was born Sept. 16, 1923, in Donora, a son of the late David and Margaret Neill Wood. Mr. Wood was a graduate of Donora High School, class of 1942 and the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Wood was a pharmaceutical salesman for Dow Chemical for 37 years and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg, the Greensburg Moose, American Legion Post 981, F&AM Lodge 759 Pleasant Hills-Guthrie, Scottish Rite Lodge Council Chapter Valley of Pittsburgh, Syria Temple, AMVETS Post 88 and VFW Post 33. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in Europe for two years. He is survived by his wife, Doris Brackett Wood of Greensburg; a son, Christopher J. Dear mother of Rudy Yaksich of Port Clinton, Ohio. Grandmother of Heather, Lani and Sonya Yaksich. Great-grandmother of Brian. Sister of Sarah Sijacki and Jim Marovich, both of California. Friends received in the CIESLAK AND TATKO FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2935 Brownsville Road, Brentwood, Thursday 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Parastas Friday at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services in Holy Trinity S.O. Cathedral Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity S.O. Cathedral Building Fund.
