Family will receive friends at the SNYDER FUNERAL HOME INC. & CREMATORY, Ligonier, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A vigil service for the deceased will be held Sunday at 8 p.m. Blessing service will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church, with his son, the Rev. Edward Roberts and the Rev. Joseph P. Maddalena as co-celebrants. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Holy Trinity School or Capital Campaign Fund, 342 W. Brian D. Rossmiller, 29 of Millvale, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001 at his home. He was a sheet metal worker. He was born in Pittsburgh, Dec. 11, 1971, son of James Rossmiller and Mary Rose Haupt Rossmiller. He is survived by his wife, Alyson Beth Gunion Rossmiller; his  daughters, Shallyn E. Rossmiller, Dakota E. Rossmiller and Savannah R. Rossmiller, one sister, Terra Miller of Ross and a brother, James A. Rossmiller Jr. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at SIMONS FUNERAL HOME INC., 7720 Perry Highway, Ross, www.simonsfuneralhomeinc.com. Steve Sabol
Newell

Steve Sabol, 83, of Newell, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, in Country Care Manor, Fayette City. He was born Oct. 14, 1917, in Star Junction, a son of the late George Sr. and Mary Sekernes Sabol. He retired from General Chemical on March 1, 1987, after 44 years of service. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Newell. Steve has been a member of the Newell Municipal Authority since Jan. 1, 1964, a life member and past president of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs Association, a member of Fayette County Firemen's Association, past chief of the Newell V.F.D. and a former member of the Newell Borough Council. He was predeceased by a daughter, Elayne Bryan; two brothers, George Sabol Jr. and William Sabol; and a sister, Grace Dzara. Surviving are his wife, Esther Sabol, with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage on Feb. 15, 2001; two children, Ed Sabol of Belle Vernon and Norma Martin and husband, Robert, of Butler; two sisters, Yolanda Fodor and husband, Joe, of Bellefonte and Irene Pavlisak of Pittsburgh; five grandchildren, Jill Martin, Beth Lehman and husband, Scott, Bridget Bryan, Stacey Timmer and Stephen Sabol; and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the ELEY-MCCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., 334 Main St., Fayette City, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday from noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday until 10:30 a.m., when a blessing service will take place in the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Sebastian's Roman Catholic Church, Belle Vernon, with the Rev.  Father John Cindric as celebrant. Interment will follow in West Newton cemetery.

Mary Ziros Sapp
North Huntingdon

Mary Ziros Sapp, 89, of North Huntingdon, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, in the William Penn Care Center, Penn Township. She was born May 19, 1912, in New York, a daughter of the late Paul and Mary Ziros. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, North Huntingdon and the Lutheran Church Women. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Sapp; and two brothers, Paul and Andrew Ziros. Surviving are two sons, James Sapp and Joseph Sapp Sr. and his wife, Margaret, all of North Huntingdon; four grandchildren, James Sapp Jr., Heather, Joseph Jr. and Lori; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Jessica; and a brother, Alex Ziros of Ohio. Friends will be received at the JOSEPH F. OTT FUNERAL HOME INC., 504 Oak St., Irwin, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Lutheran Church of Our Savior with the Rev. Mark A. Fischer, her pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in the Irwin Union cemetery, North Huntingdon.

Rose E. Schneider
Karns City, Butler County

Rose E. Schneider, 68, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, in UPMC Passavant. She was born April 1, 1933, at Rosslyn Farms, Pa., daughter of Thomas Viviano and Violet Marusak. Mrs. Schneider worked as secretary-treasurer for H.J. Schneider Construction Inc. She was the first woman to be named "Cattleman of the Year" by the Pennsylvania Cattleman's Association in 1986. Mrs. Schneider was co-founder and co-owner of Rolling Ridge Farms and H. J. Schneider Construction, Inc. She was former president of the Cranberry Area Chamber of Commerce in 1994. In 1996, the Boy Scouts Moraine Trails Council presented her with their Distinguished Citizen Award in 1996 in recognition of her volunteer services. She had been a trustee of Slippery Rock University, director of of Butler County Endowment Fund, director of Butler County Drug and Alcohol Abuse Center, member of Butler County Government Center Building Advisory Committee, secretary and treasurer of Pennsylvania Simmental Association, former member of Finance Council of St. Ferdinand's Church in Cranberry and a member of Cranberry Arts Council. She enjoyed golf and was a member of the Connoquessing Country Club. At one time she bred some of the finest Simmental Cattle in the state and had recently worked to improve the breeding of minature donkeys. The family home and business relocated to Cranberry from Green Tree in 1985. Last year she and her husband retired to their farm in north Butler County, their part-time home for 36 years. She was a member of St. Pauls Catholic Church. Survived by her husband, Harold J. Schneider; three sons, Harry Schneider, David Schneider and Daniel Schneider; a daughter, Connie Gowder; three sisters, Jean M. Kane, Edith A. Neary and Mary Ann Kimball;a brother, Samuel T. Viviano; a grandson, Harold III; five granddaughters, Hilary, Jena, Dana, D'Ann and Emily Rose; also survived by nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by a brother, Thomas J. Viviano. Friends received in the THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME INC., 124 East North Street, Butler from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Paul's Catholic Church at 1 p.m. Monday. Interment will follow in Calvary cemetery. Members of St. Paul's Guild and Christian Mothers will meet at 12:35 p.m. Monday at the church to recite the rosary. Memorials may be made to the Susan Komen Foundation, P.O. Kenneth J. Stout

Kenneth J. Stout, 89, of New Stanton, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Dec. 11, 1911, in Youngwood, a son of the late Roy James and Anna (Klingensmith) Stout. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta (Hoburn) Stout, in 1998; a son, Larry B. Stout Sr.; a grandson, Larry B. Stout Jr.; a sister, Jessie P. Maughan; and three brothers, Roy Wayne Stout, Robert Arthur Stout and Jack Dean Stout. He is survived by a son, Herbert Z. Stout Sr. and wife, Ruth, of New Stanton; three grandchildren, Herbert Stout Jr. of Irwin, Pamela Fetsko of Greensburg and Terry Penquite of San Pablo, Calif.; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Grace O. Evans of Webster, Helen A. Axton of Webster and Kathryn Olson of Michigan. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Reconnaissance 819th Tank Destroyer Battalion (Pacific Theater) and was a member of the New Stanton Methodist Church. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the C. RICHARD McCAULEY FUNERAL HOME INC., Youngwood, where service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Eric R. Detar officiating. Interment to follow in St. John's Union cemetery.

Earl C. "Smokey" Stover, 66, of Export, died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001. He was born Sept. 25, 1935, in Sardis, a son of the late Simon P. and Viola Patterson Stover. Smokey was a retired employee of National Aluminum of Murrysville. He was a member of the Italian American Club of Export and was a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Scarton Stover; three children, Victor Stover of Hershey, Pa., Sherry L. Stover of Export and Danny C. Stover and his wife, Connie, of Leechburg; a brother, Dr. Gary L. Stover and his wife, Debi, of Apollo; a sister, Doris "Toots" McCormick of Murrysville; four grandchildren, Kathleen, Dustin, Evan and Travis Stover; and several nieces and nephews. Gladys I. Stump, 93, of New Florence, formerly of Irwin, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, in Wedge Heart Personal Care Home, New Florence. She was born Aug. 11, 1908, in Irwin, a daughter of the late Abram M. and Clara Belle Thompson Stump. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Blumentritt. She is survived by a niece, Bernadine Rodman of North Huntingdon; also great-nieces and -nephews. There will be no viewing. A private funeral service will be held at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin. Interment will follow in Irwin Union cemetery, North Huntingdon.
