Juliann B. ``Bubby" Mizikar Leechalk

Juliann B. ``Bubby" Mizikar Leechalk, 66, of Mt. Pleasant RD5, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, in Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born Oct. 11, 1935, in Mammoth, a daughter of the late John and Mary Seni Mizikar. She was an organ tissue eye donor for C.O.R.E. She was a member of St. Florian Catholic Church, its choir and Altar Society, and the C.D. of A. She was an employee of the Red Lobster Restaurant. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, in 1995; her  Father, John Mizikar, in 1984 and her mother, Mary Mizikar, in 2001; and a brother, John Mizikar, in 1991. She is the loving mother of Elmer ``Sonny" Leechalk Jr. of Mammoth, Janice Leechalk of Dania Beach, Fla., Jack and Teri Ruoff Leechalk, of Latrobe and Gregory and Amber Rolla Leechalk, of Acme; loving grandmother of, Brandon and Brooke; and the following siblings: Joseph Mizikar and wife, Elizabeth, of Mammoth, Frank Mizikar and wife, Joann, of Rostraver Township, Eleanor Komisak and husband, Thomas, of West Point, Pa., Joanne Pfeifer and husband, Clarence, Gerry Kovacina, Edward Mizikar and wife, Barbara, Thomas Mizikar and wife, Paula, Louise Larko and husband, Robert, all of Mammoth, Patricia Pringle and husband, Larry, of New York, Richard Mizikar and wife, Margaret, of Lycippus, Daniel Mizikar and wife, Pam, and Betty Mizikar, both of Mammoth; Margaret Leechalk Zitt and her husband, Andy, of Latrobe RD5 (Derry); and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 9:20 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Florian Catholic Church. Interment will follow in St. Florian cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Angel Fund of St. Florian School, United, PA 15689, or C.O.R.E., 204 Sigma Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15238. Barbara Lewczenko

Barbara Lewczenko, 71, of Mt. Pleasant, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, in Easton. Born March 4, 1930, in Kalisz, Poland, she was a daughter of the late Kazimierz and Janina Pertkiewicz. She was a member of Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant. She and her late husband became residents of Mt. Pleasant in 1994. Surviving are a son, Jan Lewczenko and wife, Krystyna of Easton; two  daughters, Teresa Barcicka and husband, Witold, of Szczecin, Poland, and Margaret Omar and husband, Emir, of New Port Richey, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Edyta, Agata, Mateusz, Jonne, Jennifer, Adam and Lucas; and four great-grandchildren, Tobi, Mikolaj, Cuzanna and Edward Jr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Piotr Lewczenko, in 1999; three brothers and a sister. Friends will be received at the EUGENE G. SALOOM FUNERAL HOME INC., 730 W. Main St., Mt. Pleasant, Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at which time a blessing service will be held, followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 3:30 p.m. in Transfiguration Church with the Rev. Michael W. Matusak as celebrant. Interment will follow in Transfiguration cemetery.

Ruth E. (Vechter) Martin

Ruth E. (Vechter) Martin, 61, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001. Mrs. Martin was a cake baker, well known for her wedding, birthday and anniversary cakes for 30 years in the Turtle Creek Valley. Beloved wife of Clifford G. Martin; loving mother of Clifford G. Martin Jr. of Harrison City and Brian K. Martin of Export; sister of Andrew Vechter of Latrobe, William Vechter of Harrison City and the late Jean Fisher; also survived by six nieces and four nephews. He is survived by his nephews and niece, Robert (Virginia) Belavic of Rankin, Dennis (Janet) Baran of Monroeville and Marian (Edward) Harbay of Michigan. James Charles Miller

James Charles Miller, 55, a resident of Neville Island for the past 30 years, passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2001, in Sewickley Valley Hospital. He was born in Pittsburgh on July 20, 1946, son of the late Joseph William and Josephine Virginia (Lettiere) Miller. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Joseph William Miller Jr. Mr. Miller was a 1965 graduate of East Pittsburgh High School. He was employed 17 years with Fab Tec as a welder. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, GPU and the Aquatic Boat Club. He is survived by his loving fiancee Kimberly A. DiSanto; his sister, Carol A. Conroy of Roselle, Ill.; three brothers, Patrick F. Miller of Katy, Texas, Dennis M. Miller of Wilkins and Michael J. Miller of Houston, Texas. Visitation Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at COPELAND'S CORAOPOLIS, 867 Fifth Ave. Funeral Mass Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church with  Father Malcolm McDonald as officiant. Burial will be private in Monongahela cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Olga M. (Pinazza) Tasser Mowry
Greensburg

Olga M. (Pinazza) Tasser Mowry, 90, of Greensburg, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, in the Hempfield Manor, Hempfield Township. She was born Feb. 22, 1911, in Pleasant Valley, a daughter of the late Anthony and Elizabeth (McDonald) Pinazza. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Tasser and her second husband, Miller Mowry; four brothers, Louis, Eugene, Charles and Merle Pinazza; and four sisters, Mary Bertoluzzi, Anna Blair, Ella Cavada and Pearl Tartagilo. She is survived by two sons, Donald J. Tasser and his wife, Pat, of Fort Myers, Fla. and Greensburg and Ronald L. Tasser and his wife, Cathy, of Jeannette; six grandchildren, Tracey Testa, Don P. Tasser, Renae DeMatteo, Randy Tasser, Ronaldo Tasser and Linda Gaskill; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Virginia Klavonick of Greensburg; and several nieces and nephews. James R. ``Murph" Murphy
Ligonier

James R. ``Murph" Murphy, 72, of Ligonier, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, in Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born Oct. 26, 1928, in Imperial, a son of the late James R. Murphy and Goldie Rugh Murphy Picadio. Murph had been employed as a custodian for Mellon Bank in Ligonier for over 26 years and later was employed by Ligonier Borough. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict and earned the Purple Heart in combat. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Ligonier VFW 734, American Legion Post 267 and the D.A.V. He loved to garden and did beautiful stone work with his hands. He will be remembered for his friendliness and sense of humor. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Faye Logan Kalp Murphy; a son, Michael J. Murphy of Ligonier RD2; a daughter, Dr. Pamela D. Murphy and her husband, Dr. Mark Wagner, of Reading; three stepsons, Gerald W. Kalp and his wife, Marlene, of Donegal, Richard P. Kalp and his wife, Carol, of Melcroft and Ronald J. Kalp and his wife, Judy, of Grapeville; a stepdaughter, Mrs. John (Sharon) Anderson of Melcroft; a brother, Charles L. Ankney and his wife, Marie, of Ligonier; three grandchildren, Ali, Matthew and Tyler Wagner; 10 stepgrandchildren; 17 stepgreat-grandchildren; his granddog, Risa; and his cat, Keisha. Mary Ellen Shaffer

Mary Ellen Shaffer, 83, of Avonmore, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, in Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born Nov. 27, 1917, in Avonmore, the daughter of the late Jesse E. and Edith Mae Carney Livengood. She was a member of the Avonmore Senior Citizens Center and the Avonmore Free Methodist Church before its closing. She was a loving mother who enjoyed cooking and will be sadly missed by all. She was employed by  Father John Hili while he was a priest at the Iselin Roman Catholic Church and at St. Sylvester Roman Catholic Church, Slickville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd T. ``Hoagie" Shaffer, in January 1972; three sisters, Mazie Shannon, Anna Mae Kuhns and Mrs. John ``Spike" Wegley; and three brothers, Charles, Edward and James Livengood. She is survived by a son, Richard L. Shaffer of Avonmore; a grandson, Richard Lee Shaffer of Avonmore; a brother, William L. Livengood of Jeannette; and a sister, Margaret L. Hughes of Sigel. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the KELLY L. Thomas P. Stypula, 81, died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, in UPMC Passavant. He worked as a foreman for Shango, Inc. He was born in Tyre, Pa., Dec. 29, 1919, son of Paul Stypula and Caroline Lach Stypula. Mr. Stypula is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Settino; one daughter, Anne M. Wimer of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; one son, Thomas P. Stypula of Ohio Township; two sisters, Sally Roman of McKees Rocks and Amelia Cercone of Ross; also survived by a sister-in-law, Irene Settino; grandfather of Sarah Wimer and Kathryn Wimer. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Walker, Nellie Wiczewski and Helen Linder; and four brothers, John, Frank, Stanley and Joseph Stypula. K. Kelly Timashenka, 72, of Greensburg, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, in Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Dec. 2, 1928, in Springdale, a son of the late Konstine and Helen Pristrem Timashenka, and had resided in Greensburg since 1973. Mr. Timashenka was a teacher at the Greensburg Middle School and a member of St. John's Orthodox Catholic Church, New Kensington. During the Korean conflict, he served in the U.S. Army. He is survived by three brothers, Paul Timashenka of Edinboro, Nicholas Timashenka of Cupertino, Calif., and Theodore Timashenka of Freeport; two sisters, Ellen Killian and Ann Lochrane, both of Springdale; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gail Coffman Timashenka; two brothers, Alex and Harry Timashenka; and a sister, Nancy Forges. George Glenn Walko

George Glenn Walko, 67, of Darragh, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, in his home. He was born June 20, 1934, in West Newton. Prior to retirement, Mr. Walko was employed as an inspector for Westinghouse, East Pittsburgh, in the Large Rotating Apparatus Division. George was an avid trap shooter and sportsman. His memberships included St. Edward Roman Catholic Church, Herminie, and its Altar Rosary Society, the Perryopolis Senior Citizen Travel Club, the National Rifle Association, the Amateur Trap Shooting Association and numerous gun clubs. He was the loving husband of the late Lilly Yates Walko (who died Dec. 14, 2000). He is survived by his children: Deborah Grefenstette and her husband John of Fairfax Station, Va., Dan Walko and his wife Peggy of Mt. Joy, Doreen Comini and her husband Mark of West Newton, and Deneen Will and her husband Charlie of Ligonier; eight wonderful grandchildren, Brian, Andrea, Melissa, Diane, Heather, Christine, Roger and Chad. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his mother, Sophie Brunory. George had a special relationship with his aunts and uncles. Surviving are Joseph William ``Willie" Walko of West Newton and Josephine ``Uze" Miller of Maryland. Deceased are Mike Walko, John ``Bimp" Walko, Frank Walko, Stanley Walko, Helen Swagger, George Walko Jr., Lawrence ``Tounch" Walko and Julia Kuszaj. Bonnie E. (Brisbane) Webb, age 77, on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2001. Widow of Robert L. Webb; beloved mother of Pamela Lenart, Bonnie Hill and the late Cindy Webb; sister of the late Beverly Popovich, Victor and Richard Brisbane. Also survived by nine grandchildren. Stephen Wisyanski, 95, of Monessen, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, in Jefferson Hospital, Pleasant Hills. Born in Monessen, Dec. 11, 1905, he was a son of the late John and Lydia Nagy Wisyanski. He was a retired staff representative of the United Steel Workers of America CIO and previously served as president of union local 1229. He was a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society. He was a member and former president of Southwestern Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging board of directors and its advisory council; a life member and past president of the Monessen Lions Club; a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 2399; a life member of B.P.O. Elks 773; a life member of the Monessen Croation Club; a life member and past president of the Hungarian Beneficial Society; past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council 954, a member of the President's Commission on Aging in the 1960s through the 1990s, an original member of the board of directors of the United Way and a member of the original Veterans Commission. He received the Outstanding Senior Citizen award from the Secretary of Aging (state of Pa.) and received the long service award from the Pennsylvania Agency on Aging. Besides being active in labor, civic and fraternal organizations, he devoted his life to serving the elderly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (July 1990); six brothers, Eugene, Elmer, William, David, Ernest and Robert; and a sister, Elizabeth Truskey. He is survived by a daughter, Stephany M. and her husband, Emil T. Beck, of Uniontown; a son, Ernest Wisyanski and his wife, Georgia, of Monessen; seven grandchildren, Nikki Anne Beck, Jill Kathleen Thompson, Kelley Eileen Beck, Stephen Wisyanski, Rebecca Lynn, Kevin Kaylin and William Parks; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Banks of Belle Vernon. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the ROBERT A. BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenue, Monessen.
