Zella M. Larimer

Zella M. Larimer, 97, of Stahlstown, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, in Nedrow's Personal Care Home, Stahlstown. She was born March 3, 1904, in Cook Township. She was a member of the Stahlstown Trinity United Methodist Church, a former choir member, treasurer and Sunday school teacher. Zella was postmistress at her Stahlstown residence for 33 years, succeeding her mother, who was postmistress for 18 1/2 years. She was a charter member and former officer of the Business and Professional Women's Club, Ligonier, and a former chairperson for the March of Dimes. She was preceded in death by her mother, Minnie Earnest; her husband, Ivan ``Red" Larimer; a daughter, Glea Columbus; a son-in-law, Melvin Columbus; and three sisters, Jessie Walters, Mae Taylor and Ruby Campbell. She is survived by three grandsons, James L. Columbus and his wife, Polly, of Dayton, Ohio, Robert M. Columbus and his wife, Barbara, of Centerville, Ohio, and Thomas Columbus and his wife, Kelly, of Stahlstown; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the L. BOYD SNYDER FUNERAL HOME INC., Church Street, Donegal, where service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Audrey J. Bell officiating. Interment will be in Fairmount cemetery. The family suggests donations in Zella's name to the Stahlstown Trinity United Methodist Church, Stahlstown, PA 15687. Marie Irene Martin-Dzadovsky
Mt. Pleasant

Marie Irene Martin-Dzadovsky, 62, of Mt. Pleasant, went to her eternal rest Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, in her home. She was born May 2, 1939, in Reading, England, a daughter of the late George and Agnes Sproule Martin. A homemaker, she was a member of St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church, Scottdale. She was the mother of six sons, Christopher, Michael, Ronald, Kenneth and Thomas Dzadovsky, all of Pittsburgh, and James Dzadovsky of Scottdale; a daughter, Marie Dzadovsky of Hecla; 11 grandchildren; a sister, Carol Feltham of Bournemouth, England; three nieces; and two nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her special friend, George Gabor Sr. Friends will be received at the EUGENE G. SALOOM FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Mt. Pleasant, Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 10 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church with the Rev. John Salko as celebrant. A committal service will follow in St. John's Byzantine cemetery. Parastas will be sung in the funeral home Tuesday at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Westmoreland Hospice, the American Cancer Society or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Paul S. Miller
Richland

Paul S. Miller, age 75, on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001. He was born April 6, 1926, in Pittsburgh, and was the son of the late Walter Conrad and Irene (Shields) Miller. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Beloved husband of Ruth J. (McConnell) Miller for 41 years. Dear  Father of Valerie Mannas of Evans City and Paige Miller of Richland. Also survived by one grandchild, Kyle Mannas of Evans City. Friends received Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown, www.schellhaasfuneralhome.com, where services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Nancy Zahn of Valencia Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Allegheny County Memorial Park. Mr. Miller was a member of the F&AM John E. Mair Lodge 729. He was formerly employed by Edgewater Steel and was also a Navy veteran of World War II. Memorial donations may be made to the building fund of Valencia Methodist Church.

Marion Louise Moon
Mt. Vernon

Marion Louise Moon, 88, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, in her home. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Community United Presbyterian Church and the Youghiogheny Country Club, and was a graduate of Keuka College in New York. Mrs. Moon was a retired teacher of business law at Cambridge, England, McKeesport High School and West Newton High School, and was a former substitute teacher at Elizabeth Forward High School. Born in McKeesport on Dec. 23, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Marion Louise Greenwood Armstrong and was the wife of the late John Calvin Moon, who died Feb. 29, 2000. She is survived by  daughters, Robin Moon Enright of Mt. Vernon and Barbara Armstrong Boertzel of New York City; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. There is no visitation. Private service and interment in Mt. Vernon cemetery, Elizabeth Twp. Arrangements by the DREW J. GILBERT FUNERAL HOME, INC., Boston, Elizabeth Twp.

Edith A. Reidenbach

Edith A. Reidenbach, 85, on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, in Mariner Health Care of North Hills. She was born Sept. 20, 1916, in Pittsburgh, daughter of Walter Baldinger and Dorothy Mueller. Mrs. Reidenbach was a homemaker. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Norman A. Jr. and Peggy Reidenbach; sisters, Ruth Slanina, Wilma Hartman and Catherine Wolford; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman A. Reidenbach. Visitation Monday 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the H.P. Anne M. Resnick

Anne M. Resnick, 77, of Herminie, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, in Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Feb. 15, 1924, in Cambria County, a daughter of the late Joseph and Minnie (Nicolitch) Krizmanich and stepdaughter of the late Agnes Tregaskas. Anne was a housewife and a member of St. Edward Roman Catholic Church, Herminie. In addition to her parents and stepmother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Resnick Jr., on Oct. 25, 1998; two sisters, Helen Hardt and Barbara Krizmanich; and a brother, Anthony Krizmanich. Anne is survived by a daughter, Dianne Ostop and her husband, John, of Severna Park, Md.; two sons, Richard L. Resnick and his wife, Bonnie, of Irwin and Dennis J. Resnick of Evanstown; four grandchildren, Shauna Resnick, Adam Resnick, Chris Ostop and Marion Resnick; five brothers, Joseph, Tom and his wife, Tina, Mike and his wife, Betty, Jim and his wife, June, and John and his wife, Kathy Krizmanich; two sisters, Agnes Ferrence and Josephine ``Jay" Hoge; a sister-in-law, Irene Krizmanich; and several nieces and nephews. Russell D. Ritenour

Russell D. ``Rusty" Ritenour, 49, of Delmont, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, in Latrobe Area Hospital. He was born Aug. 31, 1952, in Connellsville, a son of Theona Wagner Ritenour and the late Russell Ritenour. He was a self-employed contractor. He is survived by his wife, Cindy O'Block Ritenour; a daughter, Christina; a brother, Randall and his wife, Lori, of Florida; a sister, Tonya Ritenour of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Ritenour's family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, 724-468-8381, where service will take place Tuesday at 11 a.m. officiated by the Rev. Frederick C. Heitzenroder. Memorial remembrances may be directed to the family.

Anna Stefcik

Anna Stefcik, 93, of Derry, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, in Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born Sept. 26, 1908, in Bradenville, a daughter of the late John Sr. and Mary Mudri Stefcik. She was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Church, Bradenville. She was a retired employee of the Derry Westinghouse. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John Stefcik Jr. and Michael Stefcik. She is survived by a brother, Andrew Stefcik of Easton, and a sister, Kathryn Stefcik of New Rochelle, N.Y. Friends will be received Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. Parastas service will be held Monday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Panachida service will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Byzantine Church. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.

Irene (Skurkay) Talpas
Greensburg

Irene (Skurkay) Talpas, 92, of Greensburg, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, in the Greensburg Care Center, Hempfield Township. She was born June 25, 1909, in Monessen, a daughter of the late George and Anna Wisyanski Skurkay. She was a member of Holy Virgin Dormition Russian Orthodox Church, McKeesport, and the Ladies Lodge 4, OSA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers. She is survived by her husband, John W. Talpas; a son, John B. Talpas of Edmond, Okla.; a daughter, Claudia Brehm of Orlando, Fla.; five grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Gezzer of Pittsburgh and Margaret Fross of Cleveland, Ohio. Friends will be received in the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. with  Father Dimitri D. Ermakov officiating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park.

Giuseppe Valotta
Morningside

Giuseppe Valotta, on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001. He was born in Maierato, Italy, and immigrated to the United States in 1968. Mr. Valotta was a retired construction laborer for Local 1058. He was the beloved husband of Maria Giovanna (Moschella) Valotta; loving  Father of Joanna Marcello and Cathy Alexander, both of Morningside, Peter Valotta of Hampton and Ray Valotta of Verona; brother of Concetta Costa of Italy. Also survived by nine grandchildren. Celebrating Mr. Valotta's life with his family in the FRANK R. PERMAN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 923 Saxonburg Blvd. at Route 8, Shaler, Monday and Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Raphael Church, Morningside, Wednesday at 10 a.m.

Alfred E. Whittle Jr.

Alfred E. Whittle Jr., 83, of Greenwood, S.C., formerly of Irwin, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, in Wesley Commons Health Care Center, Greenwood. He was born May 12, 1918, in Larimer, a son of the late Alfred E. Sr. and Sarah Fallon Whittle. He was a retired supervisor for Westinghouse Electric, East Pittsburgh, and a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army 78th Infantry Division. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Greenwood, and a former member of the United Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, Irwin. He was a former volunteer for the Norwin Public Library. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary R. Millen Whittle; a son, Alfred E. Whittle III; and two sisters, Elsie Lix and Winifred Whittle. He is survived by a daughter-in-law, Teresa A. Whittle of Greenwood; two grandchildren, Beth Whittle Bell and Nathan D. Whittle; two great-grandchildren, Tucker G. and Dawson V. Bell; two sisters, Sarah Good and Mildred Whittle, both of Larimer; also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at which time a service will be held in the funeral home with the Rev. Rose P. Wineland
Greensburg

Rose P. Wineland, 76, of Greensburg RD1, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, in Monsour Medical Center, Jeannette. She was born May 24, 1925, in Connellsville, a daughter of the late Robert and Ossie Ola Herrington Baxter. She was a former employee of the Latrobe Cap Works and a member of the Salvation Army Church, Greensburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Violet Asbee. Surviving are her husband, George E. Wineland; a son, Charles Dawdy of California; four brothers, Robert Baxter of South Carolina, James Baxter of Virginia, Kernel Baxter of Florida and Tom Baxter of Ohio; a sister, Betty Lou Rezek of Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 N. Main Street, Greensburg, where service will be held at 2 p.m. with Captain Daniel R. English officiating. Entombment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park. The family wishes memorial donations to the Salvation Army, East Otterman Street, Greensburg. Terence L. Joseph Anthony Yatsko
Parkersburg, W.Va.,

Joseph Anthony Yatsko, 22, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001. Born in McKeesport on Sept. 28, 1979, he was the son of Cheryl L. Taylor of Parkersburg, W.Va., formerly of Elizabeth Twp., Andrew M. Yatsko and stepmother Denise Yatsko of North Versailles. Joseph was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and was a student at the University of Pittsburgh, where he worked in the library. He also worked at Starbuck's in Shadyside. He is survived by his parents; his brother, James Yatsko of Parkersburg; his sister, Julie Yatsko of Parkersburg; grandparents, Mayme Yatsko of North Versailles, and James R. and Dawn Taylor of Florida, formerly of Elizabeth Twp.; aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends welcome in the DREW J. GILBERT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 6028 Smithfield St., Boston, Elizabeth Twp., Monday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Service will be in the funeral home chapel Monday at 8 p.m. with the Rev. David S. Lake officiating. Interment will be private.

Frances (Shuster) Yelochan
Export

Frances (Shuster) Yelochan, 85, died in her home in Export (Breezewood Heights), on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001. She had recently been stricken by acute leukemia. She was born in Iselin, Indiana County, on March 4, 1916, a daughter of the late John and Margaret Shuster, immigrants from the southern Austria/northern Slovenia region of eastern Europe. The Shuster family moved to Turtle Creek (Oak Hill) in Allegheny County in the 1920s. There Frances attended Dixon Avenue Elementary School. During the depression years, she moved to New York City and worked as a domestic. She returned to Pennsylvania in 1933 for her sister Rose's wedding, where she met Edward Yelochan, Rose's new brother-in-law. Frances and Edward were married in 1939, and moved to Export (White Valley), where they lived until 1957. In that year, they built their home in Breezewood Heights. In the 1950s, Frances raised her family and worked part-time in the restaurant and tavern business, helping the owners of Curley's on Route 22, Milt's Tavern on Route 66 and the original Villa D'Esta, former establishments, all located in and around Delmont. She was an accomplished amateur hair stylist and in 1960, she fulfilled her lifelong career/entrepreneurial dream by completing the cosmetology curriculum at Kay's Beauty School in Greensburg. In 1963, she opened Faye's Beauty Salon in the basement of her Breezewood Heights home. The salon was a busy community center, with noisy hair driers, the latest ``True Confession" and the constant chitchat of her loyal clientele. It was in continual operation until 1999. Frances was an avid outdoor person and for the past 25 years enjoyed frequent trips to her trailer at Big Bear Lake Camplands in Preston County, W.Va. She had also traveled to Europe in recent years and often visited her out-of-state children and grandchildren. She was an excellent baker and cook, specializing in the traditional nut roll called potica, and she and her family prepared homemade smoked kielbasa for the holiday seasons. Her husband, Edward, died in 1978. She was also preceded in death by her three sisters, Mary Perla, Sophie Giardina and Rose Yelochan; and four brothers, Stanley, Joseph, Edward and her twin brother, Frank. She is survived by three children, June Laverne Drew of Ft. Myers, Fla., Marlene Frances Semple of Wilmington, N.C., and Edward Ronald of Baltimore, Md.; five grandchildren, Dawn Drew Gubanich of Cape Coral, Fla., Danielle Drew Hilliard of Greensburg, Jeff Drew of Lake Worth, Fla., Emily Katherine Howard of BelAir, Md., and Lauren Frances Semple of Wilmington, N.C.; four great-grandchildren, Zachary and Mya Hilliard of Greensburg, David Gubanich Jr. of Cape Coral and Tia Drew of Lake Worth; a brother, John Shuster of North Versailles; and a sister, Ann Kocheran of Duquesne. She will be missed by extended family members: David Drew of Youngwood, James Semple of Wilmington, Scott Hilliard of Greensburg, Dave Gubanich of Cape Coral and Rosemary (Ten) Drew of Lake Worth. Mrs. Yelochan's family will receive friends in the BASH-NIED FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, 724-468-8381, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. There will be a Funeral Mass in St. John Baptist de LaSalle Church, Delmont, Monday at 10 a.m. celebrated by  Father Donald J. Mondella. A chapel committal service will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.

Maxie J. Riggs Zivilo

Formerly of East Liberty

Maxie J. Riggs Zivilo, 79, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, in LAS St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars after an illness. Born in St. Mary's, W.Va., on Feb. 17, 1922, she was the daughter of the late George and Grace Riggs. A homemaker, Mrs. Zivilo was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Shadyside and had been a Republican committeewoman in East Liberty for over 30 years. Surviving are two  daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Marsha) Lastoka of Tacoma, Wash., and Mrs. Fred (Michele) Rubio of Middlesex Twp.; one son, Dennis Zivilo of Pine Twp.; three sisters, Uldene Criswell of Parkersburg, W.Va., Mary Green of Florida and Mabel Boone of Parkersburg, W.Va.; one brother, William Dempsey Riggs of Florida; also five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank E. Zivilo, whom she married June 25, 1948, and who died July 11, 1977. Friends received in the MCDONALD-AEBERLI FUNERAL HOME, INC., 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, Wednesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Kilian Roman Catholic Church, Mars, Thursday at 10 a.m. The Rev. John Rebel, assistant pastor of St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church in McCandless, will officiate. Memorials are requested to Quality E.M.S., Brickyard Road, Mars, PA 16046.

Virginia Zupancic, 91, of Level Green, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, in her home. Born Nov. 30, 1909, she was a member of St. Barbara Church, Harrison City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Zupancic, in 1983. She is survived by a daughter, Virginia Gaul of McMurray; two sons, Joseph Paul Zupancic of Level Green and Lawrence J. Zupancic of Penn Township; a sister, Lucy Szelc of Shaler Township; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the JAMES E. LINDSAY FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Harrison City, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Barbara Church with the Rev. V. Paul Fitzmaurice as celebrant. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
