Homer C. Bowser

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Homer C. Bowser, of Waynesboro, who died Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997, at his home, is also survived by one stepdaughter, Dixie Lee Crist of Williamson, Pa.; two stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Ada S. Eshleman

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Ada S. Eshleman, 86, of 135 Village Square Menno-Haven, and formerly of 130 N. Antrim Way, Greencastle, Pa., who died Monday, Dec. 29, 1997, is survived by two  daughters, Margaret L. Martin and Audrey J. Clopper, both of Greencastle; three sons, Charles E. Eshleman Jr. of Chambersburg, and Donald E. Eshleman and Carl E. Eshleman, both of Greencastle; two brothers, Harold Horst of Altoona, Pa., and Robert Horst of Greencastle; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Daniel O. Izer

GERMANTOWN, Ohio - Daniel O. Izer, 41, of 921 W. Market St., and formerly of Chambersburg, Pa., died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997, at Sycamore Hospital, Miamisburg, Ohio.

Born Oct. 4, 1956, in Waynesboro, Pa., he is the son of Grace Scott Izer.

He was most recently employed with a cable television company and a tree trimming company in the Germantown area.

He attended Freedom in Christ Church, Chambersburg.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by one son, Jeremy D. Izer of St. Thomas, Pa.; five sisters, Nancy LaFreniere and Amy Lynch, both of Fayetteville, Carol Gratton, Ann Chocha and Pamela Bell, all of Chambersburg; and three brothers, David H. Izer and Gary E. Izer, both of Chambersburg, and Alan Izer of Eagle River, Alaska.

Services will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. George R. Pogue Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery in Chambersburg.

A viewing will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Memorial donations may be made to Freedom in Christ Church, c/o Donald Engle, 737 Frey Road, Scotland, Pa. 17254.

Mary M. Dickinson

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Mary Margaret Dickinson, 92, of Wynbrier Retirement Home, and formerly of Dundalk, Md., and Day's Personal Care Home in Chambersburg, Pa., died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, at the home.

Born Dec. 20, 1905, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late William and Knnigunda Miller Reese.

Her husband, Joseph Neil Dickinson, died in 1964. They were married in 1926.

During World War II, she was employed by Glenn L. Martin Aircraft in Baltimore. After the war, she was a homemaker.

She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church, Baltimore.

She is survived by one son, Joseph F. Dickinson of Chambersburg; one stepsister, Myrtle Flowers of Baltimore; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two stepbrothers, George and Raymond Fitch.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church, Baltimore, with the Rev. Henry E. Sattler as celebrant. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Baltimore.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

It is requested that flowers be omitted. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Disease Research, South Central Pennsylvania Chapter, 600 N. 12th St., STE 5, Lemoyne, Pa. 17043.

Arrangements are by Miller-Grove Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle, Pa.

Wayne E. Hartman

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Wayne E. "Hucks" Hartman, 72, of 269 E. Grant St., died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born May 8, 1925, in Antrim Township, Pa., he was the son of the late Milton and Amy Horst Hartman.

He attended Greencastle High School until his senior year, when he joined the U.S. Army.

He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg after 25 years of service. As a civilian employee at Letterkenny, he traveled to Vietnam three times. He also owned and operated Hartman's Cafe on South Antrim Way in Greencastle for 12 years.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Greencastle.

He was a charter and life member of Harry D. Zeigler VFW Post 6319 in Greencastle, a post member of Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post 373 of Greencastle, and a member of Mount Pisgah Lodge 443 F&AM of Greencastle, and Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Harrisburg, Pa.

A U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II. He received the Purple Heart after being wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He also received the European, Africa and Middle East Campaign Medal with four bronze stars.

He coached Little League, Pony League, American Legion and Adult Team baseball in Greencastle.

He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Shuman Wesley Hartman, whom he married Dec. 23, 1968; one daughter, Pamela J. Wall of Huntsville, Ala.; one son, Terry L. Hartman of Greencastle; one stepson, William M. Wesley II of Greencastle; two sisters, Mildred Fuss of Greencastle and Doris Orr of Greencastle; four grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and his former wife, Ethel Jones Hollaway of Huntsville.

He was preceded in death by one stepson, James Michael Wesley.

Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. David Armstrong will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m., where Greencastle VFW will hold a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. and Mount Pisgah Masonic Lodge will hold a masonic service at 9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Lutheran Home Care Services, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201; or to Franklin County Area Agency on Aging, 218 N. Second St., Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Ella M. Small

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Ella M. "Jessie" Glaser Small, 72, of 1024 Warm Spring Road, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 1998, at her home.

Born April 24, 1925, in Franklin County, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Karl M. and Rhoda B. Stouffer Glaser.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Small, in 1995.

She was a 1943 graduate of Greencastle High School.

She had retired from Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg.

She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greencastle, Pa.

She was a member of Ladies Auxiliaries of the Harry D. Zeigler VFW Post 6319 and Frank L. Carbaugh American Legion Post 373, both of Greencastle.

She was a member of Waynesboro, Pa., TOPS; and a member of the National AARP. She also was an Avon sales representative.

She is survived by one daughter, Sandrae Blankenhorn of Gulfport, Fla.; one son, Edward Small of Pittsburgh; one sister, Lana K. Glaser of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle. The Rev. Donald M. Bohn will officiate. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Memorial Fund of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 N. Washington St., Greencastle, Pa. 17225.

Harold M. Meyers

ORRSTOWN, Pa. - Harold M. Meyers, 82, of 14403 Mountain Road, died Friday, Jan. 2, 1998, at Waynesboro Hospital.

Born June 18, 1915, in LeMasters, Pa., he was the son of the late Daniel M. and Susan S. Wenger Meyers.

He was a retired farmer.

He was a member of Blue Mountain Memorial Brethren in Christ Church.

He is survived by his wife, Verda D. Wingert Meyers; one daughter, Mae I. Holtry of Roxbury, Pa.; one son, Galen A. Meyers of Mercersburg, Pa.; four sisters, Elizabeth Miller of Chambersburg, Pa., Mary Meyers and Rachel Byers, both of St. Thomas, Pa., and Ruth Byers of Mercersburg; three brothers, Laban Meyers and John Meyers, both of Mercersburg and Howard Meyers of Greencastle, Pa.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by a son, D. Melvin Meyers; and a brother, Lester Meyers.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Montgomery Brethren in Christ Church, Mercersburg. The Rev. Curtis Bryant, the Rev. Floyd E. Myers and the Rev. William Holtry will officiate. Burial will be in Meyers Cemetery, Mercersburg.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, St. Thomas. For the convenience of friends, the funeral home will be open from 2 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blue Mountain Memorial Brethren in Christ Church, P.O. Box 11, Roxbury, Pa. 17251.

Edgar M. Rife

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Edgar M. Rife, 86, of 6120 Angle Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Oct. 6, 1911, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Upton and Esther Martin Rife.

He was a farmer for many years and worked on the family farm in the Fort McCord, Pa., area.

He was a beekeeper and was a member of Pennsylvania Bee Society.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carroyl Bowman Rife; one stepson, John "Jack" Jones of Chambersburg; one sister, Louella M. Freise of Fort McCord; three stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Lester F. Stine will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle, Pa.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday one hour prior to the service.

Norman L. Logan Jr.

FLAT ROCK, N.C. - Norman LeRoy "Lee" Logan Jr., 62, of 4 Brighton Court, died Friday, Dec. 26, 1997, at Pandee Memorial Hospital, Hendersonville, N.C.

Born Nov. 17, 1935, in Montgomery, Pa., he was the son of Norman LeRoy Logan Sr. and Dorothy May Abbott Logan of Hagerstown.

He was a graduate of University of Delaware.

He was employed by General Motors Corp. as a finance comptroller.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Sylvia H. Logan, whom he married on June 29, 1963; one daughter, Christina Foster of Lexington, S.C.; one son, Todd Logan of Milwaukee; two sisters, Paige Nitzell of Hagerstown, and Barbara S. Logan of Silver Spring, Md.; and two grandsons.

Services were Wednesday in the chapel of Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Stephen D. Robison officiated. Burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
