Hazel M. Vukich Wickham

Hazel M. Vukich Wickham, 70, of Aleppo Township, Greene County, died unexpectedly at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010, in her home.

She was born September 19, 1939, in New Brighton, a daughter of the late Michel Bladimar and Mabel Lillian Dixon Vukich. She was raised by her mother and late stepfather, Frank H. Measic Sr.

Mrs. Wickham resided in the Waynesburg and Deep Valley areas, prior to moving to Aleppo Township in 1985.

She enjoyed camping, making afghans and her neighbors.

Mrs. Wickham was a former bus driver in Canon-McMillan School District and was last employed as a bus driver for Grim Buses in West Greene School District, prior to retiring with more than 30 years of driving experience.

She was a member of New Freeport Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and served as Aleppo Township auditor for several years.

Mrs. Wickham was first married to the late Albert Kenneth Rombold.

On June 13, 1969, she married Arnold Walter Wickham, who died October 29, 1995.

Surviving are three sons, Kenneth (Butch), husband of Kathleen Rombold of New Brighton, Arnold, husband of Tina Wickham and Travis Wickham, companion of Shyla McCready, all of Aleppo Township; a daughter, Tina Rombold Lytle of Arkansas; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Kelly Wickham of Deep Valley; a brother, Frank H. Measic Jr., husband of Georgie Measic of New Galilee; and several nieces and nephews.

She also leaves special friends Penny Ross of Aleppo Township and Patty McClelland of Waynesburg.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and stepfather, are a sister, Frances Rozich, and two brothers, William and John Vukich.

Nellie Delores Yodenes

Nellie Delores Yodenes passed away peacefully Saturday, May 1, 2010.

She was born August 9, 1919.

Mrs. Yodenes was a 1937 graduate of Jefferson High School.

She married George Yodenes in August 1939.

Mrs. Yodenes moved from Sandy Plains to Beallsville, where she and her husband, George, operated Nellie's Dairy Bar from 1947 to 1957. After the death of her husband in 1960, she worked at Nix's Optical until she retired in 1983. She then moved and lived in San Antonio, Texas, until she moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, in 2005.

She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Flour Bluff, Texas.

Mrs. Yodenes loved four-leaf clovers and had a large collection that she accumulated throughout her life. She had a deep faith in God and is now at peace with her Savior.

Surviving are three children, Georgiann Livingston of Texas, Robert Yodenes (Carole) of Ohio and Loretta Distefanis (James) of Michigan; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Stella Verbos of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to her husband, are her parents, who immigrated from Poland; and eight siblings.

A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 6, in St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Flour Bluff. Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township.

William D. Tennant

William D. Tennant, 54, of Blacksville, W.Va., died Wednesday, May 5, 2010, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.

He was born March 26, 1956, in Waynesburg, a son of the late Everet W. Tennant and Ada Marguerite Husk Tennant.

Mr. Tennant had been disabled for the past 20 years. Prior to becoming disabled, he worked for the late Ralph Marsh Thomas on his dairy farm for many years.

He formerly attended Blacksville United Methodist Church.

Surviving are four sisters, Kristie Vedis of Blacksville, W.Va., Donna Chase of Graysville, Karen Cain of Morgantown, W.Va., and Tina Salsberry of Blacksville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, deceased is a brother, Harry James Tennant, who died as an infant.

Earl L. Welsh

Earl L. Welsh, 67, of Waynesburg, died Wednesday, May 5, 2010, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.

He was born May 25, 1942, in Washington, a son of the late Herbert C. and Mabel Ferrell Welsh.

Mr. Welsh had worked as a truck driver for Penn Cable in Meadow Lands for several years. He also operated a mowing and brush hog service for 27 years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching sports.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Byers Welsh, whom he married June 18, 1960; a son, Earl Welsh Jr. of Waynesburg; three daughters, Cathleen Perry (John) of Prosperity, Karen Hoyle (Jeff) of Waynesburg and Susan Connell (Thomas) of Mt. Morris; seven grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Richard Welsh (Barb) of Nemacolin; a brother-in-law, Charles Byers (Anna May) of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a daughter, Tammy L. Fields; two brothers, Robert Welsh and Charles "Skip" Welsh; and a sister, Delores Donella.

Patricia A. Crouse

Patricia A. Crouse of Frederick Md., formerly of Carmichaels, died at 8:20 a.m. Sunday, May 2, 2010, in Frederick Memorial Hospital.

She was born October 6, 1937, in Mt. Pleasant, a daughter of the late Paul and Dorothy Lloyd Coltus.

Mrs. Crouse was a loving sister, wife, mother and grandmother.

She loved working in Carmichaels Elementary and High school cafeterias, reading, shopping and going to the movies and yard sales.

Her husband, Richard S. Crouse, died December 27, 1999.

Surviving are two daughters, Theresa Krawczyk and fiance Jeff Herring of Reston, Va., and Denice Blaker and husband Rick of Carmichaels; a stepson, Mark Crouse of Morgantown, W.Va.; two grandchildren; and a brother, Jerry Coltus and wife Peggy of Masontown. She also left numerous friends and relatives who cherished her.

Kathleen Marie Hughes

Kathleen Marie Hughes, 49, formerly of Clarksville and Waynesburg, died Thursday, May 6, 2010.

She was a daughter of Kathleen Guy Matusky of Jefferson and the late Arthur Robert Hughes.

She was a graduate of Jefferson-Morgan High School.

She was an avid bingo player and also enjoyed playing cards.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by a son, Jason Scott Hughes (girlfriend Christina) of Morristown, Ind.; a daughter, Stephanie Nicole Victor of Fredericktown; two sisters, Norma Jean Jolliffe of Inkster, Mich., and Marsha (Sam) Milliken of Rogersville; two brothers, Robert Stockdale of Indianapolis, Ind., and Scott Rolf of Clarksville; and two grandsons

Nancy L. Petrovich Bland

Nancy L. Petrovich Bland, 72, of Mentor, Ohio, died Friday, May 7, 2010, at her residence.

She was born June 10, 1937, in Pitt Gas, a daughter of the late William and Anna Marie Nohavieka Petrovich.

She was a resident of Lake County, Ohio, for more than 50 years and previously lived in Cleveland, Ohio.

She loved her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially loved being at home and working around the house.

Her longtime companion, William Matthews, is deceased.

She was the loving mother of Richard M. (Robbie Ann Conner) Butera of Mentor, Michelle M. (Loren) Frans of Eastlake, Ohio, Michael R. (Terri) Butera of Willoughby, Ohio, Kimberly A. (Jim) Duthie of Madison, Ohio, and Bryan K. (Trisha) Butera of Willoughby Hills, Ohio; cherished grandmother of 18 grandchildren; great-grandmother of three great-grandchildren; and sister of Matilda Daviero of Brownsville, Donald Petrovich of Montville, Ohio, Sarah Matovich of Waynesburg and the late Anna Demczyk, William Petrovich Jr., Frances McJunkin and Martha Vianno.

Louise Ann Orlosky Simkovic

Louise Ann Orlosky Simkovic, 88, of Carmichaels, died Saturday, May 8, 2010, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.

She was born October 9, 1921, in Nemacolin, a daughter of the late Andrew and Catherine Yanechko Orlosky.

Mrs. Simkovic graduated from Penn Commercial.

She worked at Suwak Trucking Co. and Nemacolin Mine as a secretary for several years.

Mrs. Simkovic was a former member of Our Lady of Consolation Church in Nemacolin, where she taught CCD classes and belonged to the Altar Rosary Society. She most recently attended St. Hugh Roman Catholic Church in Carmichaels, where she was a member of Catholic Daughters of America and St. Hugh Senior Activity Group.

She was a Cub Scout den mother in Nemacolin.

On June 28, 1948, she married Andrew Simkovic, who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, David Simkovic (Patricia) of Clarksville, Mark Simkovic of Carmichaels and Thomas Simkovic (Karen) of Carmichaels; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Ringer of Danbury, Conn.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are four brothers, Andrew, Frank, Edward and an infant brother, and two sisters, Helen Kormanik and Marguerite Urbany.

Noah James Havrilesko, 11, of Waynesburg, formerly of Richeyville, died unexpectedly Monday, January 11, 2010.

He was born December 30, 1998, in Washington, a son of Stacey Gatten Havrilesko of Waynesburg and James Havrilesko of Richeyville.

He was a fifth-grade student at Waynesburg Elementary, where he was a hall monitor. He was an A student, having excelled at arithmetic, and was scheduled to take a math test at Carnegie Mellon University later this month.

He enjoyed hockey, football, swimming and playing drums and enjoyed cars and going to car shows with his dad. He was a PlayStation buff and enjoyed riding his dirt bike.

In addition to his parents, also surviving are two sisters, Abbigale and Anna Havrilesko, both of Waynesburg; paternal grandmother Elizabeth Havrilesko of Richeyville; maternal grandparents John and Sandy Gatten of Beallsville; maternal great-grandparents Bob and Rosetta Adamson of Waynesburg; two aunts, Celeste Balog and husband Bill of Richeyville and Jean Defabbo and husband Tom of Vestaburg; five uncles, John Havrilesko and wife Donna of Masontown, Frank Havrilesko and wife Cheryl of Apopka, Fla., Doug Havrilesko and wife Tyffini of Washington, Chris Gatten of Beallsville and Jeremy Gatten of North Carolina; great-aunt and uncle Danny and Tina Adamson of Waynesburg; a great-aunt, Deb Bogumit of Vestaburg; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Deceased is his paternal grandfather, John Havrilesko.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made to the Havrilesko Family, c/o P.O. Box 282, Richeyville, PA 15358, for a scholarship and/or memorial fund to be set up at a later date.

Ava Naomi Holbert

Ava Naomi Holbert, 13, of Mt. Morris, died Monday, January 11, 2010, from injuries received in a house fire while staying at a friend's house in Waynesburg.

She was born Thursday, June 27, 1996, in Morgantown, W.Va., a daughter of Thomas Russell Holbert of Bobtown and Donna Jean Wade Holbert of Mt. Morris.

She was an eighth-grade student at Margaret Bell Miller Middle School in Waynesburg, where she played trumpet in the band.

She was a member of Mt. Morris Gospel Tabernacle Assembly of God.

In addition to her parents, surviving are two sisters, Ashley Holbert Swestyn and husband Thad of Carmichaels and Ana Paige Holbert of Mt. Morris; a brother, Thomas Alexander Holbert of Mt. Morris; maternal grandparents Robert and Doris Wade of Mt. Morris; paternal grandparents Robert and Barbara Holbert of Mt. Morris; two nieces, Emily and Mia Swestyn of Carmichaels; a nephew, Andrew Swestyn of Carmichaels; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family asks, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Humane Society of Greene County, 183 Jefferson Road, Waynesburg, PA 15370.

Mary E. Wilkins Kerns

Mary E. Wilkins Kerns, 79, of Mt. Morris, died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2010, in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg.

She was born Friday, May 23, 1930, in Granville, W.Va., a daughter of the late Arch S. Wilkins and Lena Davis Wilkins.

Mrs. Kerns was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Morgantown, W.Va.

She had worked as a cook for 15 years in Hamilton, Ohio, and was a homemaker.

Her husband, James E. Kerns, died March 28, 1984.

Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn Joan Spitznogle of Mt. Morris; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Evelyn Rose of Mt. Morris, Jean Near of Big Bear, W.Va., and Linda Huggins of Davistown; three brothers, Ray Wilkins of Hamilton, Ohio, Arch S. Wilkins of Westover, W.Va., and Lawrence Dale Wilkins of Mt. Morris; and several nieces and nephews.

A sister, Maxine Turner, is deceased.
