James L. Cessna, Sr.
James L. Cessna, Sr., age 61, of Halifax, formerly of Big Run and currently was residing with his daughter in Halifax, died Thursday, March 17, 2005, at Harrisburg Hospital.
He was a self-employed carpenter and a former employee of Reiff & Nestor Co., Lykens.

He was the son of the late John and Margaret Kolva Cessna, Sr.

Surviving are his wife, Joanne J. Williard Cessna; a daughter, Bonnie Kern of Halifax; three sons, James L. Cessna, Jr. of Wiconisco, Allen Enders of Spring Glen and Bruce Enders of Harrisburg; two step-sons, Ronald Enders and Randall Enders, both of Halifax; three sisters, Elizabeth Mattern of Elizabethville, Margaret Arnold of Lykens and Sandra Heilman of Coaldale; a brother, John L. Cessna, Jr. of Lykens; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, at Lykens United Methodist Church, Lykens, with The Rev. Keith J. Schmuck officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday, at the church.

John R. Shultz Funeral Home, Lykens, has charge of arrangements.

Glen M. Deeter
Glen M. Deeter, 80, of Hegins, died Saturday, March 19, 2005, at Good Samaritan Medical Center.
Born in Barry Township, Jan. 3, 1925, he was a son of the late Percy and Margaret Geist Deeter. He attended Hegins Township High School.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Army as a military policeman in Kaufbeuren, Germany.

He was employed as a coal miner and mine foreman for the Hegins Mining Co., until his retirement.

He was a member of Tremont Congregation of the Jehovah's Witnesses, where he served as elder.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Junior, Elwood and Donald; three sisters, Leoma Carl, Blanche Kimmel and Betty Deeter.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, the former Marion Lucas; two sons, Melvin Deeter of Hegins, and Steve Deeter of Valley View; a daughter, Alice Leininger of Hegins; two brothers, Paul and Richard Deeter, both of Hegins; six sisters, Ruth Carl, Larae Lucas and June Sweinhart, all of Hegins, Marlene Lucas of Lavelle, Margaret Reichenbach of Trevorton, and Dorothy Coniff of Lavelle; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and interment will be private. Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, Ashland, is in charge of arrangements.

Hannah M. Green
Hannah Maria Green, 93, of Valley View, died Monday, March 14, 2005, at Pottsville Hospital.
Born in Spring Glen, Feb. 8, 1912, she was a daughter of the late Gurney M. and Flora E. Wolfgang Umholtz. She was a 1929 graduate of Hegins Township High School.

She was a retired seamstress, having worked in area garment factories.

She attended Fearnot Assembly of God Church, Fearnot, and was a member of the Tri-Valley Senior Citizens. She served as pianist for both the church and senior citizens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther, in 1941; three brothers, Raymond, Allen, and Daniel Umholtz.

Surviving are a brother, Joseph Umholtz of Carbondale; a sister, Mary Umholtz of Iselin, N.J.; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 19, from Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, with the Rev. Richard Ritenour officiating. Interment was in St. Paul's Cemetery, Sacramento. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, was in charge of arrangements.

Thea Mae Keen
Thea Mae Keen, 74, of Long Neck, DE, formerly of Wiconisco, died Monday, March 14, 2005, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, DE.
Born in Wiconisco, she was a daughter of the late Theodore and Edna Dietrich Thompson.

She was a graduate of the former Wiconisco High School and attended Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed in the Beebe Medical Center Laboratory and was the former owner of The Keen Bridal, Wiconisco, in which she took great pride. She was a member of Long Neck United Methodist Church, Long Neck, DE.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Freddie Joe Thompson.

Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Harold E. "Smoke" Keen; her children, Darryl Keen of Middletown, Jody Baker of Millersburg, and H. Dennis Keen of Hatfield, PA; a sister, Betty Showers of Palmyra; a sister-in-law, Carol Thompson of Williamstown; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 18t, at the John R. Schultz Funeral Home, Lykens, with the Rev. James Grove, Jr., officiating. Interment was in Calvary United Methodist Cemetery, Wiconisco.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society of America, 800 Corporate Circle, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110. John R. Schultz Funeral Home, Lykens, was in charge of arrangements.

Thelma W. Lehman
Thelma W. "Peggy" Lehman, 89, of Pine Grove, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at home.
Born in Morris, Jan. 14, 1916, she was a daughter of the late William A. and Elizabeth Willamee Seaman.

She had been employed as a sewing machine operator at the former Heffners, Canoe Manufacturing and Summit Station Manufacturing, all formerly of Pine Grove.

She was a member of the Outwood Lutheran Church and had been a member of the Pine Grove Historical Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. "Jim" Lehman, on April 5, 1998; a sister, Lillian Leonard; two brothers, William Seaman and Theodore Seaman.

Surviving are a daughter, Janice Sattizahn, and a son, Lamar Lehman, both of Pine Grove; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six foster grandchildren; a sister, Louise Schneider of Morris.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 17, in Outwood Lutheran Church, Pine Grove. The Rev. Gregor Bileck will officiate. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church. Interment will be in Outwood Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Outwood Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, c/o Henry F. Snyder, 706 Oak Grove Road, Pine Grove, PA 17963. Pine Grove. H. L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, is in charge of arrangements.

Shanna T. Long
Shanna T. Long, 25, of Williamstown, died Friday, March 18, 2005, at home.
Born in Harrisburg, April 4, 1979, she was a daughter of Terry and Charlotte Long, Williamstown. She was a 1997 graduate of Williams Valley High School.

She was employed by CVS Pharmacy, Millersburg.

Surviving, in addition to her parents, are a brother, Brandon Long of Williamstown; and her paternal grandmother, Ramona Long of Halifax.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 24, from John R. Shultz Funeral Home, Lykens. The Rev. Dr. Ben Scott will officiate. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home. John R. Shultz Funeral Home, Lykens, is in charge of arrangements.

Vera M. Lowry
Vera M. Lowry, 94, of Tremont, died Friday, March 11, 2005, at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Zerbe, Oct. 7, 1910, she was a daughter of the late John d. and Jane Crossman Griffiths.

She was a member of St. John's UCC Newtown and attended the Reilly Twp. School. She was employed in the office of the Pennsylvania Auditor General before retiring in 1972. She was a member of the Harrisburg Ladies of the Elk and the Tremont Area Senior Citizens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward T. Lowry in 1964; three brothers, John David Griffiths, Bertram Griffiths, and Harold Griffiths; a sister, Mary Frew; and a step-daughter, Jean McDonald.

Surviving are a step-daughter, Carol Daly; a step-son, Edward Lowry, Jr., both of California; a sister, Dorothy Loftus; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 15, from H.L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. Liddy Bileck officiating. Interment was in the Reformed Cemetery, Tremont. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove, was in charge of arrangements.

Marlin W. Ramsey
Marlin W. "Bushy" Ramsey, 84, of Williamstown, died Thursday, March 17, 2005, at Lebanon Veterans Administration Medical Center.
Born in Williamstown, Aug. 19, 1920, he was a son of the late Robert and Sara Witmer Ramsey. He was a 1938 graduate of Williamstown High School.

He had a distinguished military career with 28 years of service, retiring as a lieutenant colonel from the Army at Fort Meade, Md. He also retired from the Army National Guard. He was a pilot in World War II with the China-Burma-India Theater in the Army Air Corps. He also served in the Army in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. He was awarded many medals for his service.

He was a member of Williamstown United Methodist Church.

He was the first commander of Williamstown Armory which he helped found, a member of Disabled American Veterans, an over 50-year member of Williamstown Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he was the first commander, an over 60-year member and officer of Williamstown American Legion Post 239, a member of Williamstown Fire Company, an over 50-year member of Masonic Lodge and Lykens Valley Hunting Club.

He was also a member of the 14th Air Force Association, Hump Pilots Association, a member and past commander of China Burma India Association, Harrisburg.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Becky A. Ramsey in 1993.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Betty R. Holden Ramsey; a son, Curt W. of Williamstown; three grandchildren, Donald Wheeler, Stacey Land and Shane Ramsey; four great-grandchildren.

Masonic services will be followed by memorial services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, at Williamstown United Methodist Church. Interment with military honors will be held at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Memorial donations may be made to Williamstown United Methodist Church, East and Spruce streets, Williamstown, PA 17098 or Williamstown American Legion, 123 W. Market St., Williamstown, PA 17098. Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Williamstown, is in charge of arrangements.

Arthur B. McCue
Arthur B. "Bob" McCue, 82, of Pine Grove, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at Pottsville Hospital.
Born in Tremont, Jan. 18, 1923, he was a son of the late John and Helen Ruth Butler McCue.

He was a sergeant in the Army during World War II, having served in the Ardennes. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Service Medal, the American Theater Service Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with one Bronze Star.

He had been employed as a miner in the Indianhead, Pennag and Morgantown Mines and was last employed as a nurse's aid at the Lebanon VA Hospital for 28 years, retiring in 1979.

He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Ravine.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, John Charles McCue, William McCue and Joseph McCue; and a sister Elizabeth "Betty" Heinbach.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Betty M. Ditzler Boyer McCue, a daughter, Sheree Manbeck of Pine Grove; a granddaughter, Jennifer Schwartz of Frackville; a grandson, David Manbeck of Harrisburg; and three great-grandsons.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 19, at H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. Mary Lou Eckels officiating. Interment was in Manbeck's Cemetery, Wild Cherry Road, Schuylkill Haven.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Paul's UCC Church Memorial Fund, c/o Helen Schaeffer, 356 Suedburg Road, Pine Grove, PA 17963. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, was in charge of arrangements.

Karl V. Miller
Karl V. Miller, 69, of Lincoln, NE, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, in Lincoln.

Born, Elizabethville, Oct. 23, 1935, he was a son of the late Charles R. and Beulah Miller, formerly of Tower City.
He graduated from Porter Township High School, Reinerton, in1953, and Ford School of Business, Pottsville, in 1954. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army; former owner, Karl V. Miller Draperies, retiring in 1991 from the U.S. Postal Service, with 26 years of service. He was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Dellene Carstens; two daughters Janelle Andersen, and Judy Welch, both of Lincoln; a son, Douglas Miller of Lincoln; a sister, Carol Williams of Tower City; brothers, Lyle Miller of Virginia Beach, Va., Russell Miller of Reading; eight grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Services were held atSt. Mark's United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dan Safarik officiating. Interment was in Lincoln Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to United Parkinson's Foundation or his church. Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, was in charge of arrangements.

Grace I. Moose
Grace I. Moose, 63, of Millersburg, a resident at Susquehanna Lutheran Village, died Monday, March 14, 2005, at the village.
Born in Halifax, August 4, 1941, she was a daughter of the late William E. and June S. Miller Shoop.

She was a member of New Hope In Christ at Maranatha Chapel in Berrysburg.
Surviving are three sisters, Mary J. Meck of Millersburg, Gladys M. Smeltz of Lykens, and Carol A. Jackson of Elkton, MD.

Services were held Thursday, March 17, at New Hope In Christ at Maranatha Chapel, Berrysburg. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery, Elizabethville.

Donations may be made to PinnacleHealth Hospice, 3705 Elmwood Drive, Harrisburg, PA 17110, or to the building fund of her church at P.O. Box 35, Berrysburg, PA 17005. Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Millersburg, was in charge of arrangements.
