Trudy A. Morgan
Trudy Ann Morgan, 57, of Hegins, died Thursday, March 17, 2005, in Hegins Township.
Born in Helfenstein, Dec. 11, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Clayton "Soy" and Margaret Paul Weikel. She was a 1966 graduate of Ashland Area High School.

She was employed as a nurses aide at Friendly Nursing Home, Pitman, until becoming ill.

She was of the Protestant faith.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur W. Hubler, in 1994; a sister, Nancy Runge.

Surviving her husband Dale "Checky" R., to whom she was married eight years; a son, Arthur W. Hubler of Lavelle; a step-son, Marlin D. Morgan of Reading; two step-daughters, Lori A. Kern and Sherri A. Morgan, both of Reading; a sister, Virginia Stehr of Pitman; and five grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday, March 19, from Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, with the Rev. Mark I. Rothermel officiating. Interment was in Citizens Cemetery, Lavelle.

Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, Pennsylvania Division, P.O. Box 897, Hershey, PA 17033. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, was in charge of arrangements.

Donald J. Sandherr
Donald J. Sandherr, 83, of Pine Grove, died Thursday, March 17, 2005, at Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading.
Born in Pottsville, Feb. 20, 1922, he was a son of the late Ellsworth and Katie Heinbach Sandherr.

He was a 1940 graduate of Pottsville High School.

He was a Motor Machinist's Mate 1st Class in the Coast Guard during World War II, having served at Atafu Island in the South Pacific.

He had been employed as a miner, an electrician with Correal Construction Co., and then as an electrical mine inspector for both the state and federal governments, retiring from the state position.

He was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church, Pottsville, a charter member of Rotary Little League, Pottsville, a PIAA football and basketball official, and was in the Pottsville High School Sports Hall of Fame.

He was preceded in deathby his wife of 57 years, the former Jean Lawrence, in 2003; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Kurtz.

Surviving are a son, Dr. Robert L. of Pottsville; two daughters, Suzanne Beveridge of Pottsville, and Donna, Kurtz of Pine Grove; a brother, Galen M. of Orwigsburg; a sister, Arlene Hasler of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 2, in Manbeck's Church, Schuylkill Haven, with the Rev. Lance Mills officiating. Interment was in the convenience of the family at Manbeck's Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the charity of your choice in his memory. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, is in charge of arrangements.

Betty L. Schlegel
Betty L. Schlegel, 84, of Harrisburg, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Community General Hospital, Harrisburg.
Born in Millersburg, April 22, 1020, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Ida Criley Albert.

She was a 1937 graduate of Millersburg High School. She was a retired administrative assistant from Creative Playthings, Herndon. She was a member of Zion Church, Herndon; The Eastern Stars Chapter 266, Sunbury; Messiah Shrine No. 44 of Northumberland; Past Counselor No. 137 of Daughters of America; and the Millersburg American legion Auxiliary. She was an avid piano player, playing in the school orchestra and the church Sunday school.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry E. Schlegel, who died in 1969.

Surviving are a sister, Ruth Feidt of Harrisburg; three nieces; and two nephews.

Religious services will be held Wednesday, March 16, at 11 a.m. at Zion's Church, Herndon. The Rev. Daniel Busch will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday, at 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in Herndon Cemetery, Inc., Herndon.

Memorial donations may be made to Zion's Church memorial Fund, Herndon, PA 17830. James A. Reed Funeral Home, Pillow, is in charge of arrangements.

Cleon E. Snyder
Cleon E. 'Pap' Snyder, 73, of Millersburg, died Monday, March 14, 2005, at Hershey Medical Center.
Born in Washington Twp., August 31, 1931, he was a son of the late Harvey E. and Catherine M. Schaeffer Snyder.

He worked as a machine operator at Alvord-Polk Tool Co. in Millersburg; He also was a TV repairman at Leitzel Brothers in Erdman and Tri-Valley TV and Mayer & Kahler in Valley View.

He was preceded in death by a sister Marie M. Shoop.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia A. Troutman Snyder; two sisters, Ardy A. Klinger of Millersburg, and Norma L. Heintzelman of Winfield; six nieces and two nephews.

Services were held Friday, March 18, at Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Millersburg, with Rev. Elizabeth George officiating. Interment was in Salem Lutheran Cemetery in Killinger.

Donations may be made to Visiting Nurses Assoc. Upper Dauphin Branch 230 Market St. Millersburg, PA 17061 or Millersburg Ambulance Assoc. P.O. Box 72 Millersburg, PA 17061. Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Millersburg, was in charge of arrangements.

Betty J. Steiner
Betty J. Steiner, 79, of Millersburg, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, in the Harrisburg Hospital.
Born in Mammoth, March 11, 1926 she was a daughter of the late Steve and Helen Kasper Poklembo.

She was a member of Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Millersburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward G. Steiner; two brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are a son, Robert Steiner of Millersburg; daughters, Donna Leonard of Markleysburg and Marlene Hillenbrand of North Hills; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Agnes Sickora of Latrobe; Helen Keto of Mammoth, and Eleanor Mozingo of Whitney; three brothers, Joe Poklembo of Mt. View, John Poklembo of Whitney, and Leonard Poklembo of Mammoth.

Funeral Mass was held Wednesday, March 16, at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant. Interment was in St. Pius X Cemetery.

Brooks Funeral Home, Inc., Mt. Pleasant, was in charge of arrangements.

Mark L. Swinehart
Mark L. Swinehart, 89, of Pitman, died Friday, March 18, 2005, at Friendly Nursing Home, Pitman.
Born in Pitman, Nov. 20, 1915, he was a son of the late William and Minnie Brosius Swinehart. He was a 1935 graduate of Hegins Township High School.

He retired in 1978 from Reading Anthracite Co., and operated a fruit and vegetable farm for many years, selling produce in Shenandoah, Ashland, Girardville and at the Hometown Farmers Market.

He was a member of Hepler's Church of God, Pitman, where he had served as a Sunday school teacher and church official for many years. For his service, he was recognized as a lifetime elder. He had been treasurer of the church's cemetery board for 30 years.

He was a member of Woodmen of the World Lodge Camp 433, Pitman, Mahantongo Fire Company, Left Fork Hunting Club, Clinton County, and a former member and president of the Tri-Valley school board.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ben P. Swinehart, in 1989.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, the former Arlene A. Stehr of Pitman; five daughters, Janet Stein of Shrewsbury, Mass., Barbara Snell of Palmerton, Gail Sim of Mechanicsburg, Trudy Umholtz of Hegins, and Carol Phillips of Shamokin; a son, Mark E. of Pitman; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Rhea Schreffler of Pitman; a brother, Ralph Swinehart of Harrisburg; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tiesday, March 22 at Hepler's Church of God, Pitman, with the Rev. Andy Weaver officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hepler's Church of God Memorial Fund, c/o Mark E. Swinehart, 95 South Road, Pitman, PA 17964. Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown, was in charge of arrangements.

Bethany M. Troutman
Bethany M. Troutman, 17, of Rebuck, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Geisinger Medical center, Danville, as a result of a motor vehicle accident which occurred Friday evening near Herndon.
Born in Pottsville, Oct. 18, 1987, she was a daughter of Mary Anne Tobias Troutman and Philip W. Troutman, both of Rebuck.

She was a junior at Line Mountain High School at RR 1, Herndon, where she was a member of the Jazz and Concert Bands, and served as a drum major of the Marching Band. She was a member of the Key Club, the Art Club, participated in the school musicals, and a member of the John Hopkins University CAA.

She was a part-time employee of McDonalds, Elizabethville. She was a member of Himmel's United Church of Christ Church, Rebuck, where she served as a liturgist and was active in the Youth Group.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Myrna L. Tobias, and paternal grandfather, John E. Troutman.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Mitchell Troutman of Philadelphia, and Cody Troutman of Rebuck; maternal grandfather, John F. 'Toby' Tobias of Gratz; paternal grandmother, Agatha Ragone of RR 1, Herndon; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life Service was held Saturday, March 19, in the Himmel's Church, Rebuck, with the Rev. Frederick Faust officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the Bethany M. Troutman Scholarship Fund, c/o the Herndon National Bank, PO Box 305, N. Main St., Herndon, PA 17830. The Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown, was in charge of arrangements.

Margaret B. Williard
Margaret Bertha Williard, 91, of Millersburg, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at Susquehanna Lutheran Village, Millersburg.
Born in Washington Twp., Sept. 24, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Charles P. and Annie Umholtz Zimmerman.

She was of the Lutheran faith. She was a former member of Gratz VFW Post 2385.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos R. Williard, who died in 1983; a sister, Mary Cooper; and by an infant brother.

Surviving are two sons, John C. Williard of Millersburg, and James A. Williard of Gratz; a daughter, Paulette E. Confer of Wellsboro; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 19, at the James A. Reed Funeral Home, Pillow, with the Rev. Barry Ridge officiating. Interment was in Union Cemetery, Gratz.

Donations may be made to Medic 6, 466 W. Main St., Elizabethville, PA 17023. James a. Reed Funeral Home, Elizabethville, was in charge of arrangements.

Maria 'Myra' E. Yoder
Maria 'Myra' E. Yoder, 91, formerly of Pottsville Valley View, Ashland RD, and Catawissa, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, at the Kern Valley Skilled Nursing Facility, Lake Isabella, CA.
Born in Pottsville, March 3, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Maria Hess Shoffler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Yoder, who died in 1984; a daughter, Maria Melinda Yoder Whary who died in 1984; a son, Norman 'Allen' Yoder, who died in 1993; an infant granddaughter, Cindy Lou Yoder who died in 1954; and many brothers and sisters, all former residents of the area.

Surviving are a brother, Allen Shoffler; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Sierra Mortuary, Lake Isabella, CA, was in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth R. Bevan
Elizabeth R. Bevan, 94, of Halifax, died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at her residence.
Born in Cheswick, she was a daughter of the late George and Clara Rand Roessing.

She attended Derry Street Gospel Chapel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Bruce Bevan.

Surviving are a daughter, Jean Lubold of Halifax; and three granddaughters, Nancy Jean Blouch and Patricia Ann Watt.

Private interment was in Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell, PA. There will be a memorial service at Murraysville Bible Chapel in the spring. Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Millersburg, was in charge of arrangements.
