Mitchell J. Masser
Mitchell J. Masser, 41, of Valley View, died Saturday, July 17, 2004, as a result of injuries suffered in a motor vehicle accident on Old State Road, RR1 Dornsife, Upper Mahanoy Township, Northumberland County.
Born in Sunbury, September 4, 1962, he was a son of Christina M. Brosius Masser of Valley View, and James H. Masser of Klingerstown.

He attended Tri-Valley High School, Hegins, and was employed as a laborer for Wehry Brothers Farms, RR1 Dornsife.

He was a member of Christ United Church of Christ, Leck Kill, and Erdman Sportsman's Association, Erdman.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Brent L. on June 26, 1991.

Surviving are his wife, the former Cindy N. Erdman, whom he married on August 10, 1985; two daughters, Megan M. Masser of Williamstown, and Malery M. Masser of Valley View; a son, Michael Masser of Valley View; a step-son, Brent S. Snyder of Erdman, RR1 Lykens; his step-mother, Darlene Masser of Klingerstown; paternal grandmother, Leah Masser of Serenity Gardens, Kulpmont; a brother, Philip J. of Catawissa; two sisters, Penny K. Rissinger of Valley View, and Angela A. Masser of Harrisburg; and a granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, from Christ United Church of Christ with the Rev. Mark Rothermel officiating. Interment will be in Jacob's Cemetery, Pitman. Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown, is in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth M. Minnich
Kenneth M. Minnich of Hatboro, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004.
Born in Helfnstein, March 21, 1920, he was a son of the late R. Miles and Elnora Fetterolf Minnich.

He graduated from Ashland High School in 1939. He was a Staff Sergeant in the US Army, serving in the Pacific during World War II. He was employed as a coal miner and later retired from SPS Steel, where he was employed for 20 years.

He was a member of Hepler's Church of God, Pitman, and attended the Hatboro Community Church. He was a member of the Bray Lodge No 410 Hatboro for 30 years and the Left Fork Hunting Camp for 65 years.

He was preceded in death by two children, Kenneth M. Minnich, Jr. age seven months and 28 days, and Candace Ann, age two years and 10 months; and by two sisters, Barbara Blake and Genevieve Welker.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Evelyn Brosius Minnich; two brothers, David of Langhorne, and James of Warminster; and a sister, Patricia Hepler of Ashland.

Services were held Tuesday, July 20, at Hepler's Church of God, Pitman. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Abington Hospice Care c/o Abington Hospital, 1200 Old York Rd., Abington, PA 19001, or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 2004 Sproul Rd., Suite 208, Broomhall, PA 19008. Decker Funeral Home, Warrington, was in charge of arrangements.

Jeanette M. Peters
Jeanette M. Peters, 63, of Elizabethville, died Thursday, July 15, 2004, at Stonebridge Health Center, Duncannon.
Born in Highspire, June 26, 1941, she was a daughter of June A. Thomas Spotts of Elizabethville, and the late Gilbert I. Spotts.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Lykens; and a member of the Gratz VFW auxiliary.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by a daughter Tina Schell of Elizabethville; a brother Roland Spotts and a sister Patricia Rissinger, both of Hickory Corners; and two granddaughters Shana and Natalie.

Services were held on Tuesday, July 20, at Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Elizabethville. Interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to her church at 527 N. 2nd St., Lykens, PA 17048. Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Elizabethville, was in charge of arrangements.

Eva M. Prescott
Eva M. Prescott, 96, formerly of Tower City, died Sunday, July 18, 2004, at the Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.
Born in Philadelphia, November 19, 1907, she was a daughter of the late David J. and Eva M. Krah Prescott.

She was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught at Washington Twp. from 1927-1928, Elder Twp. from 1928-1929, Tower City School from 1929-1956, Porter Twp. from 1956-1965, retiring from the Williams Valley School District in 1969.

She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, its adult Sunday school class, and the ELCA. A library was formed in her church and named in her honor. She was a member of the Glenn Chapter of the Eastern Star, Lykens.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Dr. henry F., Richard H., and Dr. William D. Prescott, and by two nephews, David and Robert.

Surviving are four nieces, Shirley Swartz of Downingtown, Henrietta Lamond of Exton, and Joan Cowan and Ann Louise Prescott Quigley, both of South Carolina; grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 23, from St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Linda Bonfiglio officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Mount Peace Cemetery, Minersville.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 419 E. Grand Ave., Tower City, PA 17980, or to Tower/Porter Twp. Library, grand Ave., Tower City, PA 17980, or to Tower/Porter Ambulance Association, PO Box 33, Tower City, PA 17980. Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., Tower City, is in charge of arrangements.

Harry H. Russel
Harry H. Russel, 72, of Brunswick, MD, died Thursday, July 1, 2004, at his home.
Born in Tower City, November 11, 1931, he was a son of the late Harry Herbert Russel, Sr. and Beulah Troup Russel.

He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was employed as a proofreader and printer for the federal government printing office, Washington, DC.

He signed a contract with the Philadelphia Phillies and played minor league baseball for three years. He also played for nine years in the Union Printers Baseball Club in the Industrial League in Washington.

He was a member of Moose Lodge 948.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Forney, Margaret Shaw, and Joy Klinger.

Surviving are a son, Scott A. of Reno, NV; two daughters, Karen L. of Westminster MD, and Leslie G. of Baltimore, MD; two sisters, Helen Heintzleman of Tower City, and Mae Bixler of Akron, OH; his former wife and best friend, Bobbie Geneva Russel of Brunswick, MD.

Funeral services and interment were private. Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home, Charles Town West VA, was in charge of arrangements.

Elmer N. Schmink
Elmer N. Schmink, 85, of new Cumberland, formerly of Halifax, died Sunday, July 11, 2004, at ManorCare, Carlisle.
Born in Berrysburg, he was a son of the late George and Sidney Wetzel Schmink. He was retired from the Navy Ships Parts Control Center Hampden Twp. He was a member of the Mechanicsburg Senior Citizens. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Pauline Hoy Schmink; and a son, Dennis.

Surviving are three daughters, Dianne O'Donnel of new Cumberland, Darlene Whenry of Avondale, and Elaine Rhoads of Shermansdale; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held Friday, July 16, at Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Millersburg. Interment with military honors was in David's Church Cemetery, Killinger.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of South Central PA, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Harrisburg, PA 17110.

Eunice L. Webster
Eunice L. Webster, 84, of Halifax, died Monday, July 5, 2004, at Holy spirit Hospital, Camp Hill.
Born in Elizabethville, June 23, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Homer and Christie Koppenhaver Neiman.

She was the wife of Roy O. Webster.

She attended the Pillow God's Missionary Church.

Surviving are a son, Kermit Weaver of Halifax; a sister, Marie Bingaman of Myerstown; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Friday, July 9, at Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Elizabethville. Interment was in Fairview Enders Cemetery, Halifax. Hoover Funeral Homes, Inc., Elizabethville, was in charge of arrangements.

Jeremy S. Berger
Jeremy S. Berger, 23, of Tower City, died Sunday, July 11, 2004, from injuries received in an automobile accident on Gold Mine Road, Cold Spring Township, Lebanon County.
Born in Pottsville, July 6, 1981, he was a son of Randall S. Berger, Tower City, and Salinda M. Wolfgang VanKirk, Wiconisco. He was a 1999 graduate of Williams Valley High School and attended Central Pennsylvania College, Summerdale.

He was employed at C&S; Wholesales, Harrisburg.

He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Reinerton, and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1603, Tower City.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his paternal grandparents Earl and Lorna Moyer Berger, by whom he was raised and with whom he resided; maternal grandparents, Marlin and Eva Mae Moyer Wolfgang, Tower City; a sister, Nicole L. Berger, Tower City; a brother, Anthony J., Maryland.

Services will be held Friday, July 17, at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Tower City. The Rev. Arthur Sonnenberg will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, RD Tower City. Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Tower City, is in charge of arrangements.

Ephriam E. Blank, Jr.
Ephriam E. Blank, Jr., 27, of Lykens, died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at home.
Born in Bird in Hand, October 13, 1976, he was a son of Ephriam E. Blank, Sr., and Susie S. Esh Blank of Millersburg.

He was employed as a carpenter at Pine Creek Structures, Spring Glen. He was a member of the Old Order of Amish.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny and David King.

Surviving in addition to his parents, are his wife, Mary Ann King Blank; a daughter, Priscilla Fern Blank, at home; a son, Samuel Allen Blank, at home; three brothers, Amos and Henry Blank, both of Millersburg, and Samuel Blank of Lykens; and three sisters, Amanda King of Charleston, SC, Sylvia Stolzfus and Rachael Lapp, both of Millersburg.

Religious services were held Thursday, July 9, at his residence. Interment was in Fishers Lykens Valley Cemetery, Lykens. James A. Reed Funeral Home, Pillow, was in charge of arrangements.

Willard E. Fehr
Willard E. Fehr, 78, of Pine Grove, died Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at home.

Born in Rock, July 6, 1926, he was a son of the late James and Marion Jones Fehr. He was a graduate of Pine Grove Area High School.
He was an Army Veteran of World War II, having served with the 2101 ASU Medical Detachment. He received the World War II Victory Medal.

He was first employed as a packer at the former Fox-Knapp Manufacturing, Pine Grove, then for Penn Dye/Gold Mills, Pine Grove, from which he retired.

He was a member of Salem Hetzel's United Church of Christ, Pine Grove, where he was the building fund treasurer for 10 years, the former Sunday school superintendent and a former church council member.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Anna Hummel, on June 14, 1978.

Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Kreiser and Dawn Lerch, both of Pine Grove; two brothers, Bruce of Pine Grove, and Paul of Delaware; and two granddaughters.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 12, from H. L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. Howard Souder officiating. Interment was in the Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. H. L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Hess Feidt
Mary Hess Feidt, 93, of Millersburg, died Friday, July 9, 2004, at Susquehanna Lutheran Village, Millersburg.
She was born in Lykens and lived most of her life in the Williamstown-Millersburg-Dauphin County area.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Nathan Feidt, Sr. and by her son, John Nathan Feidt, Jr.

Surviving are three daughters, Lorena Lemons of Millersburg, Evelyn D. Longacre of Harrisburg, and Sarah E. Beth Feidt of Laurel, MD; several grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Private graveside services were arranged by the Reinhard Funeral Home, Millersburg, at the convenience of the family in Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Susquehanna Lutheran Village, 990 Medical Road, Millersburg, PA 17061. Reinhard Funeral Home, Millersburg, was in charge of arrangements.
