Edwin J. Wrightstone
Edwin J. Wrightstone, age 45, of Halifax, passed away August 22, 2003, at home.

Born June 27, 1958, in Mechanicsburg, he was a son of the late Ralph L. and Florence Kibe Wrightstone.

He was self-employed in the antique/furniture business; was a member of the American Pool Association; TAP Pool League; and the Upper Dauphin Dart League. He was also of the Christian faith.

He was preceded in death by a infant son, Edwin J. Wrightstone, Jr.

Surviving are his companion, Barbara Jamieson of Halifax; a daughter, Samantha M. Wrightstone of Shermans Dale; two sisters, Janet L. Hoffman and Mary A. Titzell, both of East Berlin; and one brother, Ralph L. Wrightstone of Tallahassee, FL.

Memorial services were held at the Barrens Church cemetery, Kralltown Road, Dillsburg, on Tuesday, September 23 and also at 2556 White Oak Road, Halifax.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Samantha M. Wrightstone Trust Fund, c/o PNC Bank, 403 N. Baltimore Street, Dillsburg, PA 17019.

Fred Breden
Fred Breden, 85, of Williamstown, died Sunday, September 14, 2003, at Harrisburg Hospital.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, and a Rhode Island National Guard veteran.

He was a retired New York City firefighter.

Surviving are his wife, the former Betty L. Hoke; two brothers, Ralph of New City, N.Y., and Louis of Phoenixville; and a sister, Ann VonOhlson of Virginia.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, from John R. Shultz Funeral Home, Lykens. The Rev. Marleen E. Griffith-Stull will officiate. Interment will be in Maple Grove cemetery, Elizabethville. John R. Shultz Funeral Home, Lykens, is handling arrangements.

David E. Bretzius
David E. Bretzius, 72, of Pine Grove, died Monday, September 8, 2003, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon.

Born in Pine Grove, December 28, 1930, he was a son of the late Jesse Sr. and Ada Hubler Bretzius.

He was an Army veteran.

He was employed for many years in security from Schuylkill Products Inc., Cressona, retiring in January.

He was member of Jacobs Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pine Grove.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, the former Sara Breidigan; a son, David Jr. of Pine Grove; two daughters, Ada Zimmerman of Pine Grove, and Lisa Kreiser of Fredericksburg; two sisters, Evelyn Delong of Pine Grove, and Freida Donmoyer of Myerstown; two brothers, Floyd of Friedensburg, and Robert of Palmyra.

Memorial services were held Friday, September 12, at Jacobs Evangelical Lutheran Church.

David J. Boyko Funeral Home, Macungie, is in charge of arrangements.

Joseph J. Brobst
Joseph James Brobst, 65, of Pine Grove, died Thursday, September 11, 2003, at his home.

Born in Pottsville, July 5, 1938, he was a son of the late Charles Sr. and Anna Elizabeth Riefsnyder Brobst.

He had been employed as a miner.

He was a social member of the Pine Grove VFW, Valley View Legion, Hook, Hose & Ladder Fire Company No. 1, North End Fire Company, Pine Grove. He was a member of Pine Grove Ten Pin Club and the Pine Grove Fish & Game.

Surviving are two brothers, Charles W. Jr. of Minersville, and Harry, of Pottsville; four sisters, Anna Mae Krammes and Betsy Anspach, both of Pine Grove, Mary Evans of Pottsville, and Mildred Breidigan of California; nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held Monday, September 15, from the H.L. Sndyer Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with the Dr. Rev. Richard Schoenleber officiating. Interment was in Jacob's Lutheran cemetery, Pine Grove. H.L. Sndyer Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, was in charge of arrangements.

Mildred B. Dreibelbis
Mildred B. Dreibelbis, 87, of Millersburg, died Friday, September 5, 2003, at Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg.

Born in Lenkerville, she was a daughter of the late William and Annie Tobias Bower.

Mildred and her late husband, Karl owned the Dreibelbis grocery store, the Millersburg Furniture Center, Tropical Gardens miniature golf course in Halifax, and a catering business.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Millersburg.

Surviving are a sister, Marie Corbe of Mechanicsburg and ten nieces.

Memorial services were held on Monday, September 15, at Grace U.M. Church, Millersburg. Interment was in Oak Hill cemetery, Millersburg.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Millersburg and Upper Paxton Twp. Historical Society, P.O. Box 171, Millersburg, PA 17061; or to the Millersburg Ferryboat Association, P.O. Box 93, Millersburg, PA 17061.

Mary E. Fry
Mary E. Fry, 93, of Tremont Health & Rehabilitation Center, died Sunday, September 7, 2003 at Pottsville Hospital.

Born in Tremont, January 4, 1910, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Rose Hopstetter Fry and step-daughter of the late Theresa Felty Fry.

She was a typist for Underwriters Insurance Co., New York.

She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mae Wher and Wilma Leavy.

Surviving are a nephew, great niece and cousin.

Services were held Friday, September 12, from H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with the Elder Lamar Schwartz officiating. Interment was in Outwood Lutheran cemetery, Pine Grove. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, was in charge of arrangements.

Andrew J. Garber
Andrew J. Garber, 85, died Monday, September 8, 2003, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Lebanon.

He was an Army veteran of World War II; and a member of Williamstown American Legion Post 239.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Laura Schell Garber Sr., and his wife, Phyllis M. Welker Garber.

Surviving are three sisters, Delores Nau and Dorothy Baddorf, both of Williamstown, and Betty Welker of Lykens.

Interment was held at the convenience of the family in Straw’s Union cemetery, Jackson Township.

John R. Shultz Funeral Home, Lykens, was in charge of arrangements.

Gloria A. Geist
Gloria A. Geist, 57, of 917 E. Wiconisco Avenue, died Tuesday, September 9, 2003, at the Tremont Health and Rehab.
Born in Reading on July 24, 1946, she was a daughter of the late James and Ethel Miller Geist.

She was a 1964 graduate of Porter Tower High School. She retired in 1997 after 33 years as a secretary for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, a former choir member, Sunday school teacher and also assisted in the church office.

She was predeceased by her sister, Rita in 1994.

Surviving is her brother, James T. of Tower City.

Graveside services were held Friday, September 12, from the Greenwood cemetery, Tower City R.D., with Rev. Paul Baughman officiating. Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc. was in charge of arrangements.

Mary A. Hockenberry
Mary A. Hockenberry, 75, of Millersburg, formerly of Walterboro, SC, died Wednesday September 10, 2003, at home.
Born in Lykens, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Hilda Zimmerman Row.

She was a member of the Walterboro Church of God; former member and lay pastor at Matamoras Church of God and Reigles' Bible Fellowship. She was a Sunday school teacher for over 60 years. She was a painter for the Old Country Living magazine.

Surviving are her husband, Paul D. Hockenberry; two sons, David E., of Newport and Daniel P., of Millersburg; a daughter, Melody A. Hockenberry of Millersburg; four grandchildren; and great-grandson.

Services were held on Saturday, September 13, at Reigles' Bible Fellowship, Millersburg. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Walterboro Church of God, 106 Klein Street, Walterboro, SC 29488. Hoover Funeral Home, Millersburg, was in charge of arrangements.

Robert E. Hoy
Robert E. Hoy, 74, of Millersburg, died Tuesday, September 9, 2003.
Born in Lykens Twp., he was a son of the late Edgar and Martha Dockey Hoy.

He was a retired butcher from the former Hoy's Meat Market. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Millersburg; Disabled American Veterans; American Legion No. 326; and Moose Lodge No. 59. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Marion.

Surviving are his wife, Cletes M. Galer Hoy; a son, Rick E. of Millersburg; a sister, Betty Dillman of Millersburg; and a granddaughter.

Graveside services with military honors were held on Friday, September 12, at Indiantown Gap National cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to VNA of Harrisburg, 3315 Derry Street, Harrisburg, PA 17111 or to his church, 324 North Street, Millersburg, PA 17061.

Delbert L. Klinger
Delbert L. "Clyde" Klinger, 58 of Rigby, Idaho, died Thursday, September 11, 2003, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Born in Barry Township, January 11, 1945, he was a son of the late Gurney Robert and Mildred Corlina Moser Klinger.

He grew up and attended schools in the area and graduated from Valley View High School in 1962. He lived in Newport, R.I. for two years, San Diego, Calif. for four years, then Lakeside, Calif. for seven years. For the past 21 years, he lived in Rigby, Idaho.

He spent 21 years in the U.S. Navy, retired in June 1982 and earned the rank of senior class petty officer.

For 19 years, he worked at INEEL until he retired in 2001. He had just started a new job with Philotechnics at NRE.

He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving as Elders Quorum Counselor, Stake Missionary, Scoutmaster, Assistant Cubmaster and High Priest Group Counselor.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest.

Surviving are his wife, the former Karla Jean Allen, whom he married on March 15, 1975; four sons, Warren T. of San Francisco, Calif., Mark J. of Hanover, Calif., Jacob A. of Idaho Falls, and Brian R., Rigby; three daughters, Deanise Marie Franck of Rigby, Melody Ann McBurney of Abilene, Texas, and Athena Marie Miller of Kalispell, Mont.; three brothers, David of Valley View, Dennis of Schuylkill Haven, and Chet of Elverson; two sisters, Betty Fetterolf of Ashland, and Ethel Ballengee of Shady Springs, W. Va.; a half brother, Marlin of Shamokin; 15 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 16, at Garfield Latter Day Saints Second Ward, Idaho Falls, wit Bishop Eric Kunz officiating. Interment was be in Iona cemetery. Wood Funeral Home, Idaho Falls, was in charge of arrangements.
