William E. Hohman Sr.
Sharpsburg

William E. Hohman Sr., 79, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, in UPMC St. Margaret. Born in Sharpsburg on April 28, 1921, he was the son of the late Henry and Margaret Haberman Hohman. Mr. Hohman was a retired machinist for the Pittsburgh Brewing Company and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He was a member and past commander of the American Legion Post 106, Sharpsburg. Mr. Hohman is survived by his wife, Mary Gasda Hohman; four sons , William E. Hohman Jr., Wayne E. Hohman, Neal P. Hohman and Drew M. Hohman; two daughters , Sandra L. Poole and Catherine A. Hohman-Schrader; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers , Richard Hohman and Pete Hohman; and one sister, Virginia Stampahar. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph W. Hohman. Friends will be received Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at WORRELL FUNERAL HOME, corner of Main and Ninth streets in Sharpsburg. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 9 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church, Sharpsburg. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, O'Hara.

Gladys S. Jones
Penn

Gladys S. Jones, 89, of Penn, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000, in IHS of Greater Pittsburgh, Hempfield Township. She was born Sept. 17, 1910, in Hempfield Township, a daughter of the late William W. and Mary Maude Johnson Silvis. She was a member of the Penn Evangelical Lutheran Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Jones; a sister, Alice Long; and two brothers , Woodrow and Robert Silvis. She is survived by a daughter, Alice "Spirk" Heffelfinger and her husband, Robert, of Penn; two grandsons, Bob Heffelfinger and his wife, Barb, and Chuck Heffelfinger and his wife, Karen, both of Penn; four grandchildren, Marc Heffelfinger, Eric Heffelfinger and his wife, Michele, Amy Heffelfinger and her fiance, Jeremy Smith and Erin Heffelfinger; a great-great-grandson, Cody Smith; a sister, Marie Blansett of Greensburg; a brother, William H. Silvis and his wife, Joan, of Greensburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette, Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Robert J. Marks officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul's Reformed Cemetery, Trauger.

Sarah Elizabeth Cunkelman Keller
Greensburg
Formerly of Irwin and Jeannette

Sarah Elizabeth Cunkelman Keller, 94, of Redstone Highlands, Greensburg, formerly of Irwin and Jeannette, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at home. She was born May 20, 1906, in Jeannette, a daughter of the late William H. and M.E. Gertrude Stump Cunkelman. She was a retired teacher and principal in the Jeannette School District and a lifetime member of Grace United Church of Christ, Jeannette. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis E. Keller; and a brother, Dr. John W. Cunkelman. She is survived by a sister, Margaret G. Potiseck of North Huntingdon; and two nephews, Allan E. Cenis and his wife, Rose, of Washington , Pa., and John W. Cenis and his wife, Joyce, of Irwin. Friends will be received at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Jeffrey W. Norris officiating. Interment will follow in Brush Creek Cemetery, Hempfield Township. Michael Kubinec
Greensburg

Michael Kubinec, 78, of Greensburg RD6, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000, at his home. He was born Aug. 5, 1922, in Greensburg, a son of the late Mike and Susie Kokinda Kubinec. Prior to retirement, he had been a construction superintendent. Mr. Kubinec was a member of Harrold Zion Lutheran Church, Greensburg RD6. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from December 26, 1942 to April 9, 1946, as a PFC in the 476th military Police Escort Guard Company. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers for 44 years, and a social member of the Carbon Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Kubinec was an avid gardener and woodworker. He was a longtime member and past president of the Penn-West Chrysanthemum Society. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers , George and Thomas Kubinec. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Jane (Ramsier) Kubinec; a son, Thomas M. and his wife, Alanna Kubinec, of Greensburg; two daughters , Sandra and her husband, Leigh Masterson, of Houston, Texas and Nancy K. and her husband, J.C. Gongaware, of St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren, Thomas J. Kubinec and Caitlin Kubinec, both of Greensburg, Andrea Viola of Houston, Texas , and Jason Michael Gongaware of St. Louis, Mo.; two brothers , John Kubinec and Richard and his wife, Joyce Kubinec; two sisters , Margaret Takach and Emma Brownfield; a sister-in-law, Gene Kubinec, all of Greensburg; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, beginning Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Additional visitation will be held Wednesday in Harrold Zion Lutheran Church from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the church with the Rev. Robert A. Free officiating. Interment with full military honors accorded by the VFW Post 33 Honor Guard of Greensburg in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. Memorial contributions may be made to Harrold Zion Lutheran Church, RD 6, Box 64, Greensburg, PA 15601.

Victoria Lesniak
Penn

Victoria Lesniak, 85, of Penn, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, in Westmoreland Manor, Hempfield Township. She was born May 16, 1915, in Penn, a daughter of the late John and Victoria Nocek Lesniak. A member of St. Boniface Church, Penn, she was also a member of its Christian Mothers and Silver Threads. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the former Crown Creative Industries. A World War II veteran, she served in the Women's Army Corps as a cook stationed at the headquarters of the 8th Air Force Bombardment Division in England. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters , Josephine Rutkowsky and Mary Setlock; and two brothers , John and Joseph Lesniak. Surviving are a sister, Helen Appel of Jeannette; and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her great-great-nephew and "best friend," Josiah, who calls her his "best toy buyer." Friends were received in the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Boniface Church. Interment will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery, Hempfield Township. The Christian Mothers and Silver Threads will pray the rosary Sunday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home.

A. Virginia Lohr
Greensburg

A. Virginia Lohr, 80, of Greensburg RD5, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, in the Integrated Health Services of Greater Pittsburgh in Greensburg. She was born Aug. 9, 1920, in South Greensburg, a daughter of the late James and Orpha Stoner Sterner. Mrs. Lohr was a member for 43 years and former chairperson of the Hempfield Township Democrat Committee, a member and former vice chairperson of the Westmoreland County Democrat Committee. She had served for five years as tipstaff to the Honorable Gilfert M. Mihalich. Mrs. Lohr also served as a Hempfield Township Supervisor, an elected office she held from 1975 until 1987. She was a charter member of the Dry Ridge Garden Club, a member of the First Reformed United Church of Christ, Greensburg, and had served on the board of directors for the Hillview Cemetery Association. She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by a brother, Robert Sterner; and a sister, Dorothy Sterner. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Earl F. Lohr; a son, Darwin E. and his wife, Donna Lohr, of Milton, Fla.; a daughter, Bonnie E. and her husband, Edwin E. Poole, of Greensburg RD2; five grandchildren, Nancy V. Lohr of Florida, Amy L. Marco in Italy, Tom D. Lohr of Florida, Karen V. DiOrio and Mark E. Poole, both of Pennsylvania ; eight great-grandchildren, Katie, Karen, Santina and Matthew Marco, Carby Lohr, Bailey Lohr, Sarah and Edward DiOrio; two brothers , James G. and his wife, Marian Sterner, in New Jersey and Owen M. and his wife, Renee Sterner, of Oklahoma ; a sister, Martha and her husband, Ernest Causton, of New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews and aunts. Friends were received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and will be received Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Edwin J. Fromm officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillview Cemetery, Hempfield Township.

John S. Lotz
Hampton

John S. Lotz, 75, of Hampton, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000. Born Dec. 3, 1924, in Millvale, he was the son of the late John A. and Tresa Sippel Lotz. Mr. Lotz was a Navy veteran of World War II and worked as machinist for the Jackson Gear Company. Survivors include his wife Dorothea Brinski Lotz; three daughters , Virginia Kautzman of New Castle, Marion "Chick" Montgomery of California and Donna Sternberg of New York; two sons , John "Jay" Lotz of Boston and Tom Lutz of California; one sister, Anna Mae Dull of Cheswick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Jeanne Lotz. Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday in the BOCK FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Mt. Royal Blvd., Shaler. Services will be Tuesday at a time and location to be determined later. Burial will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Reserve. Anthony S. Lucchino
Braddock

Anthony S. Lucchino, 95, of Braddock, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, in UPMC McKeesport. He was born Sept. 28, 1904, in Port Perry, the son of the late Silvario and Antoinette Lucchino. He was retired from Westinghouse and was a self-employed barber. Member of the Good Shepherd Men's Club and a charter member of the Braddock Sportsmen's Association. He was the husband of the late Rose Panaia Lucchino; Father of Antoinette Trybis and Rita Orell; and brother of Angie Buccerelli of Michigan. Also survived by two granddaughters, Karen Ann Esposito and Julia Smith; and a great-grandson, Anthony T. Esposito. Friends will be received Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the RONALD V. LUCAS FUNERAL HOME, corner of Bell and Jones avenues, North Braddock, (412) 271-1361. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday in Good Shepherd Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the Braddock Catholic Cemetery.

Harold E. McLean
Latrobe

Harold E. McLean, 76, of Latrobe, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, in Lancaster. He was born Feb. 12, 1924, in Scottdale, the son of the late Harry Thomas and Thelma Farmer McLean. He was a machinist, retired from Kennametal. He was a member of the Latrobe United Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post 982 and the AARP. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Smith McLean in 1984. He is survived by his son, Craig S. McLean of Latrobe; and a sister, Gail McLean of Acme. Friends will be received Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the FREDERICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 1543 Ligonier St., Latrobe, where service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Donald W. Graff officiating. Interment Unity Cemetery, Unity Township.

John Thomas Mormack
Latrobe

John Thomas Mormack, 84, of Latrobe RD1, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2000, at his home. He was born May 24, 1916, in Hostetter, a son of the late John and Anna (Vargovich) Mormack. Prior to retirement, he worked as a maintenance foreman at the U.S. Steel Duquesne works. He was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Whitney, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was also a member of the St. Cecilia Holy Name Society, Unity Township American Legion Post #982, American Slovak Society of Bradenville, Possum Hollow Rod and Gun Club, and the Jednota. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth L. "Betty" (Grandetty) Mormack; a daughter, Dorothy E. Moleski; and a sister, Marie De Las Santos. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Betty Ann) Patts of Latrobe; a son, John A. Mormack and wife, Becky, of Latrobe RD1; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul Mormack and wife, Bertha, of Latrobe; two sisters , Mrs. Sullivan (Helen) Delle Donna of Greensburg and Margaret Bowman of New York; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the GAUT-BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., Pleasant Unity, Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 9:20 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated in St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Whitney, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Chad R. Ficorilli, O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery, Unity Township.
