Grayson K. White , 74 of Greensboro, PA died at 8:10PM Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002 in Ruby Memorial Hosp.Morgantown, W.Va. following an illness of 1 year. He was born Dec. 19, 1927 in Alma, Wash. to the late Roscoe and Blanche Wigent White . Mr. White was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Waynesburg. For 35 years he taught Sunday School and was choir director for the former Greensboro Nazarene Church and had held several church office. He was a member of the Greene Co. Camp of Gideon International.He was also a member of the Greene Co.Teachers Association, P.S.E.A. and N.E.A. Mr. White was a former member of the Greensboro Lions Club. He also was a member of the Senior Citizens of Carmichaels, PA He was a Veteran of W.W.II having served with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific.Mr. White retired after 34 years as a High School Music teacher and Band Director in 1987. He worked for 30 years for the Southeastern Greene School District and 4 years for Morgantown Jr. High School.Following his retirement he then worked as a substitute teacher for 12 years. He was the Son of the late Elva Frank and Ruth Fry Baily. Mr. Baily was a member of the Fairall United Methodist Church. He was a Veteran of W.W.II having served with the U.S. Army. For 30 years he worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service having a rural route in Waynesburg. Mr. Lewis was a lifetime resident of Mount Morris. He was affiliated with Mount Morris Methodist Church. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was a Navy Seal. He was a boss at Federal # 2 Coal Mine, Consol Co. Blacksville for 11 1/2 years. He worked for Aero Trucking out of Monroeville as a truck driver. Memorial Hospital as a nurse retiring May 26, 1974. Her Husband: Alva A. Ketchem died March 11, 1968 She was the last of her immediate family. Helen C. Horn, 83 of Waynesburg, PA died at 10:40 PM on Wednesday July 9, 2003 at the Washington Hospital in Washington , PA She was born Sept. 5, 1919 in Chicago, Ill A Daughter of the late George J. and Mildred O'COnnell Horn. Her early life was in Chicago and had been in wbg since 1948. Miss Horn was a member of the St. Ann Roman Catholic Church in Waynesburg where she was also a member of the Alter Society. Helen was a graduate of Lindbloom High School in Chicago, ILL. She was a member of the AARP, the James Farrell American Legion Post #330 in Waynesburg and the American Legion Aux in Waynesburg. She was an active member of the Waynesburg Senior Citizens. She was a Veteran of W.W.II having served as a WAC in the United States Airforce. She worked as a bookeeper for Fox Motor Co. in Waynesburg from 1948 to 1968. She then worked as a receptionist for Dr. Leonard C. O'Connell from 1968 to her retirement in 1983. She never married and is survived by her friend Eliza Jane South with whom she made her home. On July 12, 1917 she was born to the late Charles C. and Neva Ross Cummins in White ley Twp., Greene Co. Mrs. Shriver was a member of the Mt.Pleasant United Methodist Church, Gordon Hill. She was also a member of the White ley Twp. Farm Women. For several years she worked at the Isaly's Dairy Bar in Waynesburg and was a Homemaker. Her Husband: Raymond L. Shriver died August 1, 1967. Henry Samuel Coffman, 72 of Woodland Estates Waynesburg, PA died at 10:30PM Friday AMy 9, 2003 at home follwoing a 6 month struggle with cancer. He was born Dec. 21, 1930 in German Twp, Fayette Co., PA A Son of the late Roderick and Myrtle King Coffman. Mr. Coffman was affiliated with the Washington St. United Methodist Church. He was a Veteran of the Korean War from 1952 to 1956. Mr Coffman was a member of the V.F. W. Post #4793 of Waynesburg. He was a retired Coal Mine Forman for Duquesene Light Co. and had worked for Warwick coal mine for 38 years. His Wife: Patricia Ann Sellers Coffman whom he married May 17, 1975 survives. Herschel C. Gapen jr., 71 of Waynesburg died Tues. Nov. 4, 2003 in the Mono. General Hosp. Morgantown, W.Va. following open heart surgery. He was born May 31, 1932 in Dilliner, PA He was the Son of the late Herschel C. Gapen Sr. and Hazel L. McCann Gapen.Mr. Gapen was a member of the Beth. Baptist Church in Ruff Creek. He served as Chairman of the Diaconate Board and the Pulpit Committee. He was also a former S.S. teacher.Mr. Gapen was a Vet. of the Korean conflict having served with the U.S. Army.He was a member of the Waynesburg Masonic Lodge #153 F.&AM and the Uniontown Consistory. He was also a member of the Fort Jackson Chapter of the S.A.R. and was President of the Cornerstone Genealogical Society. Mr Gapen was a member of the Expermental Aircraft Association.He worked for 10 years for Columbia Gas Company and then worked for 3 years for United Airlines. Following this he worked for 30 years for U.S.Air and retired as a maintenance Supervisor.Surviving are his Wife: Louise Herrington Gapen whom he married December 25, 19522 sons : Douglas K. Hilda Imogene Cain, 84 of Mt. Morris, PA died at 10:00AM Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002 at the Monongalia Gen. hosp. Morgantown, W.Va following an extended illness. She was born Feb. 5, 1918 in Fairview, W.Va. to the late Wm. Bolton Thorne and Margaret Kennedy Thorne.Hilda worked in Housekeeping for 21 years for the W.Va. University Hospital in Morgantown. She was an accomplished gardner and she loved attending Bingo with her sisters and friends. Hilda also enjoyed making Afghans and Doillies. May we all become a tribute to her caring and compassionate soul. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are 3 daughters and Son-InLaws: Lynne and Wm. Snyder of Mt. Howard E. Santee, 89 of Waynesburg, PA died at 4:14AM on Friday Sept. 5, 2003 at the Greene Co. Memorial Hospital in Waynesburg following a brief illness. He was born Jan. 18, 1914 in Geneva, Ohio. He was the Son of the late Francis E. and Flossie Smith Santee. Mr. Santee lived in Waynesburg since 1919 and was a member of the Washington St. United Methodist Church in Waynesburg. He worked for Hoges Bakery for several years operating an oven. He then worked for Waynesburg College for several years as a Security Guard retiring in 1977. In April 1937 he married Florence Louella Whyte Santee who died September 11, 1965. Surviving are 1 Daughter: Syble L. Thomas of Aliquippa, PA 1 Son: Clyde E.
