James L. Smoyer, Sr.
James L. Smoyer, Sr., age 76, of Schnecksville PA, died Monday, March 11, 2002 in his home. He was the Husband of Sandra A. (Moyer) Smoyer. The couple celebrated their 47th Wedding Anniversary last May.

Born in North White hall Township PA, he was the Son of the late Earl D. and Lillian (Muth) Smoyer. He was Owner/Operator of the former Pioneer Aluminum in Schnecksville for 40 years, before retiring in 1990. Concurrently he drove school bus for the Parkland School District for 38 years, retiring in 2000. He was a Member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs PA.

He is survived by his Wife; sons , James L. Smoyer, Jr. of New Tripoli PA and Randy L. Smoyer of Slatington PA; daughters , Donna M. Phillips of Schnecksville PA, Cindy L. Schlauch of Germansville PA and Constance L. Rice of Slatington PA; brothers , Reuben E. Smoyer of New Tripoli PA and LaMont Smoyer of Schnecksville PA; Sister, Betty Kern of Northampton PA; 7 Grandchildren and 1 Great Granddaughter.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2002 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville. Family and Friends may Call 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Funeral Home. The Reverend Thomas N. Thomas officiating. Interment in Union Church Cemetery, Neffs PA.

In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Lehigh Valley Hospital and/or Union U.C.C. Fund For A New Beginning c/o the Funeral Home, PO Box 196, Schnecksville PA 18078-0196.

John Savitske
John Savitske, age 84, of Durham Street, Hellertown PA, died Saturday, June 15, 2002 at the St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill PA. He was the Husband of Florence A. (Fritchman) Savitske. The couple celebrated their 63rd Wedding Anniversary last June.

Born in Gouldsboro PA, he was the Son of the late Onfur and Mary (Ksinits) Savitske. He was a Foreman for the former Earl W. Ecker Construction Company, Bethlehem PA for 40 years, working on the restoration of the Tannery, Goundie House, and the Water Works, all of Bethlehem, until retiring in 1982. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, having served in the Pacific Theater. He was a Member of First United Church of Christ, Hellertown PA.

He was also a Member of the Carpenters Local Union 600, Bethlehem PA; Served on the Hellertown-Lower Saucon School Board for 14 years; a Scout Troop Leader #49, Hellertown; Member of the Dewey Fire Company, Hellertown; Member of the Hellertown Historical Society, Hellertown; past Member of the Silver Creek County Club, Hellertown; and Member of the Edward H. Ackerman Post 397, Hellertown.

He is survived by his Wife; sons , Gerald J. Savitske of Hellertown and John J. Savitske of Hellertown; Daughter, Jean M. Csencsits of Hellertown PA; Brother, Stephen of Lee's Summit MO; sisters , Ann Townsend of Hellertown PA, Mary Bodnyk in Boca Raton FL and Dolores Guay of Quebec, Canada; 6 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2002 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 326 Main Street, Hellertown. Family and Friends may call 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the Funeral Home. The Reverend Kevin E. Fruchtl officiating. Interment in Union Cemetery of Hellertown.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to First United Church of Christ, 501 Northampton Street, Hellertown PA 18055 and/or the Hellertown Historical Society, 150 West Walnut Street, Hellertown PA 18055.

John Sitnick
John Sitnick, age 76, of Kutztown PA, formerly of Lehigh Ave., Palmerton PA, died Wednesday, January 01, 2003 in Kutztown Manor, Kutztown PA.

Born in Palmerton PA, he was the son of the late Harry and Catherine (Penchisien) Sitnick. He was a Maintenance Employee for the Borough of Palmerton for 35 years before retiring in 1980. He was a Member of St. Vladimir's Greek Catholic Church, 106 Delaware Ave., Palmerton PA, where he formerly sang on the Choir. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II, with the rank of Radarman Third Class.

He is survived by his Nephews.

A Divine Liturgy will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2003 in the Church. Family and Friends may call 9:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Friday in the Church. Interment in St. Vladimir's Greek Catholic Cemetery, Palmerton PA. Arrangements are by the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., Schnecksville PA.

Kay L. Swartz
Kay L. Swartz, age 49, of 1020 South Hall Street, Allentown PA, died Saturday, November 24, 2001 at the Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown PA. She was the Wife of Given R. Swartz, Jr. The couple celebrated their 17th Wedding Anniversary this past April.

Born in Bethlehem PA, she was the Daughter of Ellsworth Frankenfield of Bethlehem and the late Ethel M. (Fluck) Frankenfield. She was a Secretarial Supervisor for the PA Dept. of Health in Nazareth since 1993. She was of the Lutheran Faith.

She is survived by her Husband; Father ; daughters , Kelly E. Koehler of Allentown PA and Heather M. Leidich of Allentown PA; and 2 Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2001 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 326 Main Street, Hellertown PA. Family and Friends may call 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Monday evening, in the Funeral Home. Interment in Union Cemetery of Hellertown.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to VIA of the Lehigh Valley, 336 West Spruce St., Bethlehem PA 18018.

Kenneth "Kelly" W. Sarson, Sr.
Kenneth "Kelly" W. Sarson, Sr., age 92, of Spring Street, Bethlehem PA, died Thursday, May 23, 2002 at the Lehigh Valley Muhlenberg Hospital, Bethlehem PA. He was the Husband of Anna P. (Gonia) Sarson. The couple celebrated their 67th Wedding Anniversary in January.

Born in Allentown PA, he was the son of the late Clark P. and Annie M. (VanLuvanee) Sarson. He was employed by the City of Bethlehem in Automotive Maintenance for many years until retiring in 1972. He previously Owned & Operated the Kelly's Garage, Fourth St. in South Bethlehem. He was of the Lutheran Faith. He was a Life member of the Jefferson Democratic Club, Bethlehem; Life member of the South Bethlehem Volunteer Firemen's Relief Association; Life member of the Lynns AA, South Bethlehem; and Member of the Sun Valley Fire Co., Effort PA.

He is survived by his Wife; sons , Kenneth W. Sarson, Jr. of Bethlehem PA and Ronald J. Sarson of Ashfield PA; daughters , Dorothy M. Petrokovich of Allentown PA; JoAnne Miller of Bethlehem PA, Geraldine Perry of Bethlehem PA and Barbara A. Holley of Bethlehem PA; brothers , John Sarson in Arizona and Robert J. Sarson in Florida; Sister, Elizabeth Pistininzi of Pittsburgh PA; 17 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Granddaughter.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2002 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 326 Main Street, Hellertown PA. Family and Friends may call 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Funeral Home. Interment in Union Cemetery of Hellertown.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association Northeastern PA District, PO Box 1392, Bethlehem PA 18018-1392.

Linda L. Stoeckley
Linda L. Stoeckley, age 43, of 212 Main Street, Hellertown PA, died Sunday May 11, 2003 at the St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill PA. She was the Wife of Eugene A. Stoeckley, Jr. The couple celebrated their 1st Wedding Anniversary last July.

Born in Schenectady NY, she was the daughter of Carolyn L. (Schill) Baldwin of Rotterdam Junction NY and the late Raymond J. Loby and the late Step Father , Frederick B. Baldwin who raised her. She was a Self-employed Freelanced Court Stenographer, having worked as a Legal Secretary for Orloski, Hinga, Pandaleon & Orloski Law Offices, Allentown PA, and at Wood Heat, Pleasant Valley, for several years. She was of the Lutheran Faith.

She is survived by her Husband, mother and Richard J. Arndt of Rotterdam Junction NY; brothers , Raymond Loby of Rotterdam Junction NY and Frederick R. Baldwin of Rotterdam Junction NY; and sisters , Karoline S. Mathewson of Chapel Hill NC and Kendahl L. Clute of Schenectady NY.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2003 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 326 Main Street, Hellertown PA. Family and Friends may call 12 Noon - 1:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home.

Lillian R. (Ritter) Snyder
Lillian R. (Ritter) Snyder, age 85, of Bingen Road, Bethlehem PA, died Monday, April 14, 2003 at Blough Health Care Center, Bethlehem PA. She was the Widow of the late Robert G. Snyder, 1997.

Born in North White hall Township PA, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Annie (Lobach) Ritter. She was employed by the former AT&T, Allentown PA, for 35 years, in 1980. She was a Member of the New Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lower Saucon Township PA, where she was a Volunteer at the New Jerusalem Food Bank. She was also a Member of the Lehigh Valley Antique Car Club, the Pioneer Club, Allentown PA; and the Antique Car Club of America, Hershey PA.

She is survived by her Son, Robert E. Snyder of Walnutport PA; Daughter, Sandra M., wife of Walter A. Smith of Bethlehem PA; sisters , Beatrice Bretz of Frederick MD, Katherine Krause of Laurys Station PA, Lorraine Steele of Northampton PA, Myrtle Jandrisovitis of Northampton PA and Shirley Reph of West Chester PA; 6 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2003 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 326 Main Street, Hellertown PA. Family and Friends may call 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Funeral Home. Interment in Bingen Sunrise Memorial Cemetery, Lower Saucon Township.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the New Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3233 Apples Church Road, Bethlehem PA 18015.

Martha E. (Sharrer) Strauss
Martha E. (Sharrer) Strauss, age 92 of Springtown PA, died Thursday, September 12, 2002 at the VNA Hospice at St. Luke's, Fountain Hill PA. She was the Widow of the late Raymond W. Strauss who died in 1961.

Born in Durham Township PA, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Alice E. (Weaver) Sharrer. She was a Threader for the former Spinlan, Quakertown PA for many years until retiring. She previously worked for Hanka Pierogies, Hellertown PA in various capacities for several years. She was of the Protestant Faith.

She is survived by her sisters , Evelyn L. Duh of Leithsville PA and A. Pauline Rice of Hellertown PA; 4 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandson.

Funeral Services will be held 11:30 a.m. Sunday, September 15, 2002 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 326 Main Street, Hellertown PA. Family and Friends may call 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Sunday in the Funeral Home. Interment in Union Cemetery of Hellertown.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice at St. Luke's, 709 Delaware Avenue, Bethlehem PA 18015.

Martin F. Schaffer
Martin F. Schaffer, age 82, of Allentown PA, died Wednesday, January 2, 2002 at the Virtua Memorial Hospital, Mount Holly NJ. He was the Widower of the late Marie E. (Ardle) Schaffer.

He was an Electrical Supervisor for the Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 40 years before retiring in 1982. He was a Member of Grace E.C. Church, Allentown, where he formerly volunteered in Cub Scout activities. He Graduated Lehigh University Class of 1959 and Temple University Class of 1965. He was a Submarine Navy Veteran of World War II and the Korean War with a rank of Master Chief Petty Officer (E-9). He received the American Area Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal, Submarine Combat Insignia (1 Star), WWII Victory Medal, Qualified Submarine Pin. He served a total of 35 years active and naval reserve duty retiring in 1979.

He was the Founder and current President of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the US Submarine Veterans WW II, National Organization; Past President of United Veterans of Wars, Allentown; Member of the International Submarine Association; Member of the Blue Jackets Association, Inc.; Member of the Submarine Old Comrads Association; Member of the West Australia Submarine Association; Member of the Naval Enlisted Reserve; Member of the Fleet Reserve Association; Member of the Naval Submarine League; Member of V.F.W. Post # 13, Allentown; Member of the Badger Lodge # 333, F. & A.M.

He is survived by his daughters , Constance L. DeLong of Catasauqua PA and Joan M. Graver of Arlington VA; Sister, Shirley Mriss of Allentown PA; 4 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandson.

Funeral Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 07, 2001 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville PA. Family and Friends may Call 12:00 Noon - 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Funeral Home. Interment in Jordan U.C.C. Cemetery, Allentown PA.
