Nellie Belpulsi

May 18, 1998

Nellie Belpulsi, also known as Betty Bell, died Monday at Bear Creek Health Care Center, where she was a guest for two years.

She was formerly a resident at RD 4 Box 448, West Pittston.

She was born in Mocanaqua and lived in Glen Lyon, Newport Township. She was a resident of Exeter for 61 years.

She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rosalie Beezup Benis.

She attended Nanticoke schools.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Bell; sisters Jean Bonomo, Mary Sheehan, Julie Chilyatum, Ann Modula, Rose Lebowitz and Dorothy Zotto; brothers Ed Benis and Andrew Benis.

Surviving are her son, Daniel Bell, Mount Zion; sisters Mrs. Jack (Martha) Chesko, Nanticoke; Mrs. Josephine Richardson, Albany, N.Y.; Mrs. Tom (Lillian) Bailey, Miami, Fla.; brother, William Benis, Wilkes-Barre; two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday from the Adonizio Funeral Home, Inc., 251 William St., Pittston, with the Rev. Jackson Cox officiating.

Interment will be in the Memorial Shrine Cemetery, Carverton, Franklin Township.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

BELL, JOYCE ALCORA KINTNER

December 7, 1999

Joyce Alcora Kintner Bell, 59, of Shelly Court, Lakeland, Fla., and formerly of Auburn Center, died Dec. 7 at her home.

Born April 1, 1940, in Auburn Township, she was the daughter of Marion Elizabeth Wandall Kintner, of Black Walnut, and the late David Warren Kintner.

She was employed at the Allied Signal, South Montrose, for more than 25 years before retiring.

She moved from Auburn Center to Florida in 1989.

She was a life member of St. Bonaventure R.C. Church, Auburn.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, John William Bell; brothers , David, Phillip and Donald Kintner.

Surviving are her husband, John W. Bell; sons , Randy and A. John Bell, both of Lakeland; daughters , Crystal Nasser, Auburn Center; Joyce Ann Carr, Moravia, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass was held Thursday in Florida.

A family graveside service was held Saturday at the St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Auburn, with Father Patrick McDowell officiating.

Local arrangements are by the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main Street, Meshoppen.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research.

BELLAS, JULIA

October 6, 1999

Julia Bellas, of South Bryan Street in Elmhurst, Ill., died Wednesday at her home.

Born in Pringle, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Dorothy Borick Haradem. She had resided in Illinois since 1966.

She was a former member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Edwardsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John A.; brothers , Nicholas, Andrew and Stephen; and sisters , Mary Buberowski, Helen Schwartz and Anna Fedock.

Surviving are her daughters , Joan Bellas, Piedmont, Calif.; and Judy Ohmott, Simi Valley, Calif.; two grandsons; brother, Daniel, Avon, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday at a time to be announced from the Kopicki Funeral Home, 263 Zerbey Ave., Kingston. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Cemetery in Pringle.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Parastas services will be conducted this evening.

Belles, Robert

April 2, 2000

Robert E. Belles Sr., 64, of Waukesha, Wis., died Sunday at Waukesha Memorial Hospital.

Born April 30, 1935, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Theodore and Elizabeth (Nunemacher) Belles. He graduated from Penn State University with an electronics degree. He worked for General Electric and worked in the space program at Cape Canaveral, Fla. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Wales, Wis.

Surviving are his wife of 13 years, Lynette (Heidrich) Belles; sons , Robert, Jr., Waukesha, Wis.; Wayne Barrett, Salt Lake City; Brian Frambs, Menomonee Falls, Wis.; and Gregg Frambs, Pewaukee, Wis.; daughter, Rebecca Frambs, Waukesha, Wis.; eight grandchildren; and sister, Patricia "Patsy" Gustafson, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his brothers , Theodore "Dutch," Jr., Douglas and Bruce.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 470 N. Oak Crest Drive, Wales, Wis., with the Rev. Robert Novotney, pastor, officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, Wis., and noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the church. Entombment will be in Prairie Home Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to family or the American Heart Association.

WILLIAM BENNER

William G. (Plick) Benner, 80, of Kingston died Friday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Plymouth, he was the son of the late William and Sarah Jones Benner.

He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1937 and served in the Army during World War II.

Before his retirement he was employed by the Keebler Biscuit Company and later by the Kingston Borough Maintenance Department.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Robert A. Albee.

Surviving are his wife, the former Elva I. Ruckel, Kingston; daughters , Ellen Mattis, at home; Susan Albee, Harveys Lake; son, Steven, Harveys Lake; sister, Marie Edgar, Lancaster, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family from the William A. Reese Funeral Chapel, rear 56 Gaylord Ave., Plymouth with the Rev. Edward Gospodinsky officiating.

Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Burial Park in Dallas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Berardi, Antoinette

March 5, 2000

Antoinette (Devita) Berardi, 83, of Fallbrook Street, Carbondale, died Sunday in Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale.

Born in Carbondale, she was a daughter of the late Massimino and Philomena (Falbo) Torcasso. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and worked for the garment industry.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Devita; second husband, Egino Berardi; brother, Louis Torcasso; and sister, Josephine Falbo.

Surviving are her daughters , Joanne Rogan, Carbondale; and Jean Ranck, Wyoming; brother, Louis Torcasso, Dunmore; sisters , Theresa Giardano, Michigan; Rose Bordt and Frances Sinnestsky, both of New Jersey; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will Wednesday from the Laurence A. Gabriel Funeral Home, 2 Hospital St., Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Entombment will be in Our mother of Sorrows Mausoleum, Finch Hill, Greenfield Township.

BERGAMINO, JOHN

September 29, 1999

John T. Bergamino, of Taylor died Wednesday at his home.

Born in Old Forge, he was a son of the late Frank and Helen (Levandowski) Bergamino. He was educated in Old Forge schools and settled in Taylor 10 years ago.

He formerly was employed as a guard for the former Empire Sanitary Landfill of Taylor.

Surviving are his brothers , Anthony F. and Thomas, both of Ransom; sister, Pat Smith, Taylor; and several cousins nieces and nephews.

Cremation will be in Maple Hill Crematory in Wilkes-Barre. There will be no viewing.

Arrangements are by the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, 517 N. Main St., Old Forge.

BERMAN, FAY

October 27, 1999

Fay (Huberman) Berman, 91, formerly of 315 Joseph Drive, Kingston, died Wednesday at the Heritage House in Wilkes-Barre, where she had been a guest for six weeks.

Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Sol and Rose Huberman.

She was formerly employed as a children's wear buyer with Bergman's Department Store in Wilkes-Barre.

She was a member of Temple Israel, the Jewish Community Center and other organizations.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph.

Surviving are two nieces, three grandnieces and two grandnephews.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Temple Israel Cemetery in Swoyersville, with Rabbi Larry Kaplan officiating.

Funeral arrangements are by Rosenberg Funeral Chapel, 348 S. River St., Wilkes-Barre.

ROBERT BETNAR

April 27, 1999

Robert J. Betnar, 57, of Larksville, formerly of Swoyersville and Plains Township, died Tuesday.

Born April 15, 1942, in Plains Township, he was the son of Julie (Nevinski) Betnar, of Wilkes-Barre, and the late Simon Eugene Betnar.

He was educated in the Plains Township public school system and was a 1960 graduate of Plains Memorial High School.

Before his retirement, he was employed as a construction worker for Local 215 in Wilkes-Barre.

He had been inducted into the Plains Hall of Fame and the Northeastern Pennsylvania Hall of Fame for basketball.

He was a member of Holy Name-St. Mary's Church in Swoyersville. He served on the Plains Hall of Fame Committee for several years.

Surviving are his wife, the former Bernadette Shinski, with whom he celebrated 32 years of marriage in July 1998; daughter, Karen Vought, Larksville; son, Trooper Robert S. Betnar, at home; and one grandson, Justin Vought.

Private funeral services will be from Holy Name-St. Mary's Church, with the Rev. Joseph Gilbert officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in the Carverton section of Kingston Township.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Simon S. Russin Funeral Home, 136 Maffett St., Plains Township. There will be a Christian wake service at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Gilbert officiating.
