Mrs. Zelma Elizabeth Wolfe

Funeral services for Mrs. Zelma Elizabeth Wolfe, 97, of 251 Bridge St., Branchville, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, October 26, 2007 in the Canaan Baptist Church in Canaan Community, Cope, with the Rev. Charles Bradley and the Rev. Alan Woodward officiating. Burial will be in the Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery in Cope.

The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service.

Active pallbearers will be James Hayden Jr., Johnny Wolfe, John Roger Wolfe, Robbie Wolfe, Mike Martin, Tony Martin, Tommy Wolfe, Earl Smoak, Johnny Chavis, Doyle Smoak and Jack Wolfe Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Wolfe died Tuesday, October 23, at her residence.

She was born April 22, 1910, in Orangeburg County, the daughter of the late Malachi Smoak and the late Susan Antley Smoak. She was the oldest member of Canaan Baptist Church and she was retired from Smoaks Manufacturing Company and a former employee of The Churn in Branchville. She was the widow of the late Marion Wolfe and was preceded in death by three sons, George Wolfe, Tom Wolfe and Roger Wolfe; three granddaughters, Ann Wilson, Cynthia Bailey, and Tina Connor; one great-grandson, Craig Martin.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Martha Martin of St. George, Gloria and Bill Porterfield, Pretto and Wayne Hayden, all of Branchville; three sons and daughter-in-law, Willard Wolfe of the home, Jack Wolfe and Robert and Evelyn Wolfe, all of Branchville; daughter-in-law, Delores Wolfe of Branchville; 25 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the residence, 251 Bridge St., Branchville, and the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Palmetto Health Hospice, P.O. Box 1123, Bamberg, SC 29003-1123 or to the Canaan Cemetery Fund, c/o Thomas Brickle, 4550 Cannon Bridge Road, Cope, SC 29038.

Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Orangeburg is in charge of arrangements.

Winston Jamison

Funeral services for Winston Jamison, 55, of 709 Harvest Court, Vance, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2007, in the Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Vance, with the Rev. Roy Lee Durant officiating. Burial will be in the Felder Cemetery, Highway 45, Vance.

Mr. Jamison died October 21, in the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.

Winston, better known as Joe Pete was born in Vance to Mrs. Marie Lilly Jamison and the late Mr. Winston Jamison Sr. He was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church for many years. He was a 1970 graduate of Roberts High School and continued his education by graduating from Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. In 1987, Joe Pete, started his career with the South Carolina Department of Corrections and retired May 1, 2007.

His memories will be cherished by his wife, Sylvia Abraham Jamison; one daughter, Audrey Jamison of the home; two sons, Ronnel Wright of Norfolk, Va. and Winston Jamison III of the home; one grandchild, Au'Jonai Ritter; his mother of Vance; three brothers, Alfred (Tammy) Jamison of Vance, Jell (Alice) Jamison and Silas (Rhuddene) Jamison of East Orange, N.H.; five sisters, Matilda (Robert) McClary, Elizabeth Jamison of Bronx, N.Y., Irene Jamison of Santee, Neomia Jamison and Teresa Rainey of Eutawville; three brothers-in-law, and four sisters-in-law; aunt, Evelyn Tilly of Eutawville; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Eutawville Community Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Judy Shing Stevenson Cleckley

Funeral services for Mrs. Judy Shing Stevenson Cleckley, 71, of 414 Amelia Village, will be held 1 p.m. Monday, October 22, 2007, at Mount Olive Baptist Church, with the Rev. W.S. Walker Jr. officiating. The casket will be placed in the church at noon. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, Orangeburg.

Mrs. Cleckley, daughter of the late Absolum Stevenson and Fannie Robinson Stevenson was born April 9, 1936, in Orangeburg County. She entered eternal rest October 17. She worked as a domestic worker for many years. She was a dedicated member of Mount Olive Baptist Church where she served on the senior choir.

Mrs. Cleckley was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Ann Stevenson Rivers; three sisters, Mary Frazier, Rebecca Green and Betty Huggins.

She leaves to cherish fond memories her loving husband, William Cleckley of the home; one son, Henry Stevenson of Branchville; two grandsons, Marvin Stevenson of Orangeburg and Minister Corry (Saquana) Stevenson of Darlington; one granddaughter, Tammy Rivers of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; two brothers, Isaac Stevenson of Bamberg and Abraham (Minister Barbara) Stevenson of Orangeburg; one sister, Fannie Mae Johnson of Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers-in-law, Charles Green Sr. of Orangeburg and Hoover (Eartha) Holman of Cordova; one sister-in-law, Lila Mae Holman of Cordova; a special friend, Annie M. Busby of Orangeburg and a host of loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, other relatives and dear friends.

Friends may call at the residence of her husband, William Cleckley, 414 Amelia Village, Orangeburg or at Simmons Funeral Home of Orangeburg.

Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Johnny Johnson

Johnny Johnson, 51, of 140 Miami Lane, Eutawville, died Monday, October 22, 2007, at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.

Funeral services will be announced by Eutawville Community Funeral Home of Eutawville.

Terrance M. Williams

Funeral services for Terrance M. Williams, 32, of 180 Lenox Road, Brooklyn, N.Y., formerly of Blackville, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 20, 2007, in the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Lees, with the Rev. Freddie L. Wright and the Rev. Dr. Shirley Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Hope Memorial Park Cemetery in Blackville.

The casket will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Active pallbearers will be Kappa Apha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

Honorary pallbearers will be Blackville-Hilda Class of 1993.

Mr. Williams died Friday, October 12, in the Lenox Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Friends may call at the residence of his mother, Mrs. Mary Williams at 5000 Legion Road, Blackville, and at the funeral home.

Funeral services are entrusted to Green's Funeral Home of Blackville.

Isreal Rhoad Jr.

Funeral services for Isreal Rhoad Jr., 65, of 50 Ujima Court, Bamberg, will be held 2 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2007, in the St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Ehrhardt. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Rhoad died Saturday at his residence.

He was born October 16, 1941, to the late Isreal and Sadie Davis Rhoad Sr. He was a graduate of Richard Carroll High School, Bamberg. Isreal relocated to New York City and was employed by the New York City Dept. of Transportation from which he retired after many years of service. In the year 1967, he married Barbara A. Rhoad. On his return to South Carolina, he reunited his self with the St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Ehrhardt.

Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Rhoad and Pamela Rhoad, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two sons, Michael James (Carol) Rhoad of Jacksonville, Fla. and Eric (Meredith) Rhoad, of Columbia; five grandchildren.

Friends may call at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Preston and Jessie Hicks, 455 Wilson Circle, Bamberg.

The Carroll Mortuary of Bamberg will be in charge of the services.

Harry James Monroe Sr.

Harry James Monroe Sr., 70, of 1654 Providence Road, died Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.

The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2007, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Orangeburg, with the Rev. Rita Gartman officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Orangeburg.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Mr. Monroe was born September 20, 1937, in Orangeburg, a son of the late John Monroe and the late Macie Hall Monroe. He served in the U.S. Army and was retired president from Communications Workers of America in Gaston.

Survivors include four sons, Harry Monroe Jr. and Judy Stokes of St. Matthews, Daniel and Stephanie Monroe of Pelion, Bobby Monroe and Deborah Brown of Bluffton, and Edward Monroe of Orangeburg; a daughter, Mary and Lee Gurganus of Hilton Head; 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; a half brother, Dan Monroe of Radford, Va.; and special friends, Judy Stokes and Deborah Brown.

Friends may call at the residence, 1654 Providence Road, Orangeburg and at the funeral home. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Thompson Funeral Home Inc.Harry James Monroe Sr.

Lucille W. Hartzog

Funeral services for Lucille Weaver Hartzog, 1548 Green Valley, will be held at noon Friday, November 2, 2007, at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ben Herlong and the Rev. Carl Harris officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Hartzog died Wednesday.

Family and friends may call one hour prior to service. At other times friends may call at the residence.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist church, 1356 Amelia St., Orangeburg, SC 29115.

Dukes-Harley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
