She is survived by her husband, Charles “Len” Smith Jr.; son, Brandon Tyler Adams; and daughter, Cassandra Marie-Galang Kelley; parents, Julio Vilisaro Galang and Estrella Pabilona Galang of Saucier, Miss.; brother, Oliver Galang of San Diego, Calif.; sisters, Jennifer Galang of New York City, and Eileen Galang of Knoxville and spouse, Kristopher Hays; mother-in-law and father-n-law, Charles Leonard Sr. and Barbara Smith of Blue Ridge, Ga.; sister-in-law, Joy Smith of Morganton, Ga. A celebration of Everly’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 1, 2011, in the Smith Trinity Chapel with Father John Pierre of All Saints Catholic Church in Knoxville officiating and Eileen Galang to give the eulogy. Margaret Rimmer

Margaret Rimmer, age 87, of Maryville, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011. She was a long-time member of Broadway Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her son, William Dennis Rimmer; and parents, Robert and Rose Rice. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, James W. Rimmer; sister, Mary Cate of Largo, Fla., and many nieces and nephews. David Lewis Chapman Jr.

David Lewis Chapman Jr., age 63, of Maryville, died Monday, June 27, 2011, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a veteran of Vietnam, serving as a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. David also enjoyed oldies music. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Sandy Chapman Sr. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Randy Lingus; daughter, Sheila Smallin, all of Maryville; grandchildren, Matthew Chapman, Cody Collins, Derek Waters, Erica Collins, Katelyn Waters, Jacob Rogers; sister and brother-in-law, Vickie and Jim Violette; sister, Sherri Chapman, all of North Carolina; aunts, Myrtis Adam, Betty Gallagher and Louise Chapman; mother of his children, Karen Miller; special friends, Scotty Miller, Jeff and Scottie Wilson, Donald and Lisa Brown, Gary and Brenda Sparks, Rob and Harley Evans. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2011, at Grandview Cemetery, 2304 Tuckaleechee Pike, Maryville. Lester Pack

Lester Pack, age 87, of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2011, due to heart failure. He was very well taken care of and went in peace with his wife, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren at his bedside. Lester was born icon on October 2, 1923, and led a wonderful life with his family and friends. He had been through a lot, but the last month was the hardest. Lester leaves behind wife of 58 years, Else A. Pack; son, Steve G. (Donna) Pack, and Edward L. (Cindy) (son-Chad) Pack; he also had two wonderful grandchildren he just adored and were his life, Steven J. Pack and McCayla A. Pack. A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 3, 2011, at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow after the service at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 429 Sandy Springs Road, Maryville, TN 37803, 865-982-4285. Tommie Joyce Hitch DeLozier

Tommie Joyce Hitch DeLozier, 86, of Maryville, died June 20, 2011, at home surrounded by her family. She was born icon on January 10, 1925, and was a life-long resident of Maryville. She graduated from Everett High School and attended Maryville College, graduating with high honors from Carson-Newman College. Tommie Joyce married Arthur Garland DeLozier after college, and at the time of Garland’s death in October of 2010, they had been married for 64 years. She taught Spanish at Alcoa High School for one year, after which she was a homemaker and mother. Tommie Joyce was a lifetime member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, where her grandfather, the late Rev. J.R. Dykes, was once pastor. She was very active in church work through the years, including Sword Drill, WMU, jail ministry, church librarian, and Bible study teacher, along with the Gideons Auxiliary. She loved doing volunteer work, including being a “Pink Lady” at Blount Memorial Hospital, and with Contact Helpline. Tommie battled and beat ovarian cancer, and at the time of her death was in her 28th year as a cancer survivor. One event which she and Garland loved to participate was Relay For Life. “Dobber” as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren, loved keeping up with the activities and lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and instilled in them many family values and traditions. She was blessed with a razor sharp wit and intelligence. She had a listening ear, and many family and friends went to her seeking sound advice and wisdom. Tommie had a keen sense of humor, even during her last days. Her wisdom, kind heart and sincere love and concern for others will be missed by us all. She was preceded in death by her husband, A. Garland DeLozier; parents, L.C. (Tom) and Rebecca Elford Dykes Hitch; sister, Judy Shamblin; and son-in-law, Frederick H. Forster. Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn DeLozier Forster of Maryville; son, Arthur Michael DeLozier and wife Ann Wolfe DeLozier of Maryville; and daughter, Debora DeLozier Franklin and husband David A. Franklin of Mount Juliet, Tenn. Grandchildren include Joy Forster Carver, Andy DeLozier, Melissa DeLozier, all of Maryville; Rebecca Forster, Washington, D.C.; Marshall Franklin, Knoxville; and Sarah Franklin Kremer, Mount Juliet, Tenn. She is survived by eight great-grandchildren, Drew and Caroline Carver; McKenzie, Jake and Addie Kremer; and McKenna, Abigail and Faith Franklin. The family wishes to express their gratitude to devoted caregivers Vicki Bryant and Joey Collins. A worship service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, July 2, at 2 in the afternoon at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church with Raymond Burnett officiating. Interment icon will immediately follow the service at the church cemetery, followed by the receiving of friends from 3–4 p.m. in the Family Life Center. Helen Runion Fagg Hooper

Helen Runion Fagg Hooper passed away June 22, 2011, in Knoxville. Helen was born icon March 7, 1935, in Etowah, Tenn., to parents, Carroll and Mary Runion. Preceded in death by her husband, Ray Hooper of Moultrie, Ga., she was a devoted mother and wife, loved by all. Leaving behind siblings, Linda Arwood and Mike Runion; children, Tom Donohue and wife Debbie, Robert Fagg, Becky Garza and husband Tom; stepchildren, Linda Suber and husband Wayne, Carol Garner and husband Mike, Alex Hooper and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all.

Gerald Lee Cogdill

Gerald Lee Cogdill, age 51, of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011. He was a member of Sevier Home Baptist Church. He is survived by daughter, Michelle Leigh Wood and husband Steven; granddaughter, Alyssa Leigh Branson; parents, Gerald and Rose Cogdill; brother, Jeffrey C. Cogdill and wife Cathy; several aunts, uncles and cousins. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to benefit the family. John C. Autry III

John C. Autry III, born icon February 7, 1941, in Columbia, Miss., passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Parkwest Hospital in Knoxville. He was a 1959 graduate of Columbia High School. He received his bachelor's degree in business from Ole Miss and was a member of the ATO Fraternity. John served as ATO providence chief for the Southern Region and formerly worked for Friends of Children in Jackson, Miss. He also formerly worked for the Department of Human Services in Jackson, Miss., and was a crisis line volunteer. John was past president of Columbia Lions Club. He was a photographer and artist and had taught numerous photography and jazz courses. He was a member of the Professional Photography Association in Alabama and Mississippi. John was an avid photographer and jazz fan throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merle Lott and J. C. Autry II. Survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Britt and Lisa Autry; grandchildren, Alex and Coston, all of Maryville; sisters, Ann Dial and husband, Clark of Columbia, Miss. Jimmy Wade Waters, age 64, of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011, in Birmingham, Ala., while awaiting a heart transplant. Joyce Gross Woolf

Joyce Gross Woolf, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at Maryville Health Center. Mrs. Woolf was born icon in LaFollette, Tenn., in 1938. Her parents, Charles V. Gross and Ruth G. Gross, moved to Blount County in 1942, where her father was employed by the Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA, Inc.). She graduated from Alcoa High School in 1956 and attended the University of Tennessee. Mrs. Woolf helped organize the Girls Club of Maryville and served on the board of Child and Family Services. Mrs. Woolf was a member of First Baptist Church of Maryville, where she was ordained as a deacon, taught a Sunday School class and was a member of the adult choir. Her special interests were music and helping disabled children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas B. Woolf. Survivors include her son, Thomas B. Woolf, Jr.; brother-in-law, William R. Miller; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2011. in the Smith West Chapel with Rev. Charles Ballard officiating. Rev. Joseph Charleston (J.C.) Reed

Rev. Joseph Charleston (J.C.) Reed died on June 28, 2011, just two weeks short of his 97th birthday. He was ordained to the gospel ministry in May 1942. He pastored churches in Cocke, Knox and Blount Counties. He was pastor emeritus of East Maryville Baptist Church where he served 18 years. He also served as interim pastor of several churches in Blount County. He was active in the Knox County and the Chilhowee Baptist Associations and pastors’ conferences while pastoring churches in those associations. He was currently a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Burella (Hondee) Reed; parents, Joe A. and Barbara Reed; daughter-in-law, Jerry Ann Reed; nine brothers and sisters. Survivors include son, Wayne Reed of Maryville; son and daughter-in-law, John and Margaret Reed of Knoxville; daughter-in-law, Jane Reed of Maryville; grandchildren and spouses, Craig and Elaine West of Pueblo, Colo., Charles Wayne and Janie Reed of Tullahoma, Lynn Reed and Eileen Campbell-Reed of Nashville, Douglas and Terri Reed of Farragut, Renee and Mark Wilbanks of Powell; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Jocie Douglas of Bybee, Tenn. Zola Mae Reagan Lewis Dukes Huff

Zola Mae Reagan Lewis Dukes Huff, age 93, of Maryville, passed away Monday, June 27, 2011, at her home and entered her heavenly home with her Savior and Lord surrounded by angels. She practiced nursing for over 25 years. Zola was the first person to administer a shot at the Sevier County Hospital. Most of her career was spent at Ft. Sanders Regional Hospital, where she retired. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Monty James Lewis, Robert Dukes and Lyle A. Huff; parents, George S. and Maude E. (Thompson) Reagan; brothers, Neubert Reagan and Ralph Reagan; sister, Zelpha (Tiny) West; and granddaughter, Cindy (Lewis) Satterfield. She is survived by her brother and wife, Paul J. and Roberta Reagan; son and daughter-in-law, George Ronald (Ronnie) and Carol Lewis; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Joe Wilson; grandchildren and spouses, Monty Kent (Kenny) and Michela Lewis, Candice and John Foley, Chris and Jessica Wilson; very special great-granddaughter, Jayden Chatman; very special great-grandson, Patrick James Wilson; many nieces and nephews; wonderful caregiver, Jan Foley; dear friend, Anna Mae Gardner; good neighbor, Dr. Robert Proffitt.
