Alva Grace Rose
July 21, 1923 - October 4, 2011

Alva Grace Potts Rose, 88, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2011 in Abilene. Visitation will be from 5:00 till 7:00 PM, Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Her funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Friday, October 7, 2011 at Southwest Park Baptist Church, 2901 S. 20th Street. Interment will follow the service at Mount Hope Cemetery in Anson.

Alva Grace was born July 21, 1923 in Stith, TX to Fletcher and Mae Jones. She attended Merkel High School and married Olin Potts shortly after graduation. They moved to Anson where she began working for the Jones County Tax Collectors office and continued her work until Olin’s passing in 1971. She married Ray Rose in 1974, and they moved to Abilene where she began working for Taylor County Tax Collector office until her retirement with 29 years of service in both Jones and Taylor County. After Ray’s passing in 1992 she continued to be active in Southwest Park Baptist Church where she was a member. She always enjoyed taking care of those around her and loved her family.

Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Weaver and husband Carl of Abilene; one step-son, Larry Rose and wife Karen of Gustine; one step-daughter, Pat Joseph and husband Harry of Belton; one grandson, Damon Wallace and wife Krissy of College Station; three step-grandchildren, Jeff Joseph and wife Stephanie, Keely Joseph, Gerry Joseph and wife Misti; one sister, Fern Berry of Abilene; one nephew Jerry Jones and wife Twyla of Hot Springs, AR.

She was preceded in death by two husbands; her parents; one brother, Truett Jones.

Memorial donations are suggested by the family to Sears Hospice, One Village Drive, Suite 400, Abilene, Texas 79606 or Southwest Park Baptist Church, 2901 S. 20th Street, Abilene, TX 79605.

Margie Ruth Faison

Died: Mar 15, 2009
Margie Ruth Faison, 77, of San Angelo, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Shannon Medical center after a sudden illness. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 17th, and 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18th, at Robert Massie Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at Lawnhaven with Russell Smith, officiating.

Margie was born in Greenville, Alabama., on April 3rd, 1931, to Leamon and Carrie Beverly. After graduating from Greenville High School, Margie briefly worked as a telephone operator, then attended Nursing School in Montgomery, Alabama, graduating as a Registered Nurse. She married John Faison on February 14th, 1955, in Greenville, Alabama. Margie worked as a Registered Nurse in many locations during the years of her husband�s long military career. She then worked at Saint Johns Hospital, the Tom Green County Public Health Office, and as the Angelo State University Nurse until her retirement. Margie was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, where she developed many dear friends.

Margie was preceded in death by her husband, John Alexander Faison, her brother Edward Beverly and her two daughters, Christina Ann Kirkham and Anita Ruth Faison.

She is survived by her sister Margaret Owens of Brewton, Alabama, son John Faison Jr. and his wife Linda of Abilene, her son David Faison and his wife Stephanie of San Angelo, grandchildren Kenneth Dwayne Corder and wife Kristen of Abilene, Dawn Clements and her husband Charlie of Fort Worth, John Faison III and Kristan of Fort Worth, Danielle Faison of San Angelo, Jason Faison of San Angelo, Henry and Storm White of Christoval, Zach White of San Angelo, Haydan White of San Angelo, Cami White of San Angelo, great grandchildren Kayla, Bailey, Branson, Lela, Delilah, and Brylan and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Henry White, Zach White, Charlie Clements, Jason Faison, Kenneth Corder, and James Dyer.

Imogene Skiles
December 16, 1929 - October 3, 2011

Imogene Skiles, 81, passed away Monday, October 3, 2011 in Abilene. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 5, 2011 from 6 till 7 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Thursday in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel with burial following the service at Elmwood Memorial Park.

Imogene was born December 16, 1929 in Foursand, TX to Robert Lee and Mary Ethel Turnbow. She was a graduate of Weinert High School where she was named Homecoming Queen. She married Wilford “PeeWee” Skiles in 1947 in Stamford, TX. They began their family shortly after and she was a homemaker until attending the Stenograph Institute of Abilene. They owned and operated C&J; Food Distributor and later she began her career at Abilene State School where she worked until her retirement in 1990. Imogene was a charter member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, a volunteer for Hendrick Hospice Care, and enjoyed painting, and gardening.

Survivors include her two children, Mary Tate and husband Bill of Abilene, Tim Skiles of Wichita, Kansas; five grandchildren, Jonathan Burrus, Amy Cowart, Zach Skiles, Leanna Ball, Caleb Skiles; ten great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.

Memorial donations are suggested by the family to the charity of choice.

Durward Dale Brombaugh I am a Veteran.
December 7, 1919 - February 20, 2011

Durward Dale Brombaugh, age 91, died February 20, 2011 in an Abilene, Texas nursing home. Graveside services will be 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South.

Mr. Brombaugh (Dale) was born December 7, 1919, at Salem, Iowa to Helen Ferne (nee Murphy) and Grover George Brombaugh. He moved to Oklahoma in 1929, Graduated from Cheyenne Valley High School, Orienta, Oklahoma in 1936. He joined the service in 1940. Dale attended airplane mechanic school in 1943 and B-25(bomber) factory training course in 1944, after which he advanced to B-29 (bomber) flight engineer. He served in Guam and Saipan and his combat experiences included 28 combat bombing missions against the Japanese Empire. During these times he was rated as a flight officer. In January 1963 Dale retired as USAF Master Sergeant.

Dale married Jessie Crafton July 1, 1967 in Enid, Oklahoma. They moved to Odessa, Texas in July, 1970 where he worked at Meister Plastic Coating. They then moved to Clyde, Texas in July 1982.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Rebecca Brombaugh; son, Carl Crafton; his parents; and two sisters, Beatrice Clarice Schroeder and Iris Hanold.

Dale was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by children, Gail Meister of Abilene, TX, James Crafton of Perry, OK, WM. P. Crafton of Sherman, TX, Boyd Crafton of Woodlands, TX, Debbie Dunbar of Spring, TX; grandchildren, Victoria Ares, Judy Meister, Sarah Matney, Jeff Dunbar, Michael Crafton, Kimberly Martin, Billie Crafton Carter; several great grandchildren; and niece, Marilyn Atkins of Mauldin, SC.

Dale will be greatly missed by all of his extended family.

Louise Beth Stewart
January 17, 1950 - February 17, 2011

Louise Beth Stewart, 61, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 in Baird. Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, February 20, 2011 from 10AM until 4PM at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene. There will be a memorial service at a later date.

Louise was born on January 17, 1950 in Abilene to Jean and Newt Montgomery. She fought a long courageous battle with her illness. She took great pride in being a homemaker and taking care of her beloved husband Bob. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend to many. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Baird.

She is survived by her husband Bob and son Kyle Stewart.

Catlin Mackenzie May I am a Veteran.
March 25, 1988 - February 12, 2011

Cpl. Catlin Mackenzie May, 22, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011 in Fort Stewart, Georgia where he was stationed with the U.S. Army. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 21, 2011 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South, Abilene with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday at Elmwood Funeral Home.

Catlin was born in Wichita Falls on March 25, 1988. He graduated in 2007 from Amarillo High School where he was a member of the football team. On July 27, 2007, Catlin became a soldier in the U.S. Army and had recently returned from his first tour in Iraq. He was a 13 Field Artillery/Forward Observer and was a member of the HHC-27 Infantry 1st Brigade FSGA. His awards included two Army Accommodation Medals, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal and Global War on Terrorism Medal. While in the Army, he had won several awards in various Strong Man competitions.

Catlin loved life and he loved his family very much. He enjoyed all things outdoors including hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his mother, Steffanye Baxley of Abilene; four sisters, Jamye Rogers of Abilene, Tiffanye Boydston and husband Greg of Allison, Tracye Joyner and husband Alex, and Lindye Dowden and husband Buddy all of Abilene; one brother, Thomas May and wife Prisha of Merkel; Grandparents, Rick and Linda Boyett of Weatherford; two uncles, Eric Rowden of Vega, Texas and Austin Boyett of White Settlement; one aunt, Laurye Stewart and husband Rob of Vega, Texas; 5 nieces and 7 nephews.

If desired, memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Austin Dale David
August 18, 1989 - February 9, 2011

Austin Dale David, age 21, of Abilene was taken from our lives on Wednesday, February 9th, 2011. Austin is survived by his two beautiful children, Cadon and Clarissa, his mother Sari, his step father Keith and his brothers Cole, Jeremy and Jason who loved him more than words can express. Austin is also survived by is girlfriend Stephanie whom he planned to share his life with and countless close friends who loved him dearly.

Austin was met in heaven by his father, Michael.

Austin was a spark that ignited laughter and happiness everywhere he was. Everyone who had the privilege to know him was touched by the most special kind of love.

Our BOO will never be forgotten and will always be loved.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday February 19th at 2pm at the Elmwood Funeral Home.

Maria Louise Tijerina
June 20, 1940 - February 12, 2011

Maria Louise Tijerina, 70, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011 in Abilene. Her funeral service with Lucille Echols officiating will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 17, 2011 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday at Elmwood Funeral Home.

Survivors include her children, Nina Longoria, Rudy Tijerina, Robert Tijerina and Alma Gonzalez all of Abilene, Julie Chavez of Arizona, Randy Tijerina of San Antonio and Roland Tijerina of Odessa; sisters, Martha Gallegos of San Antonio and Esther Gonzales of Abilene; brothers, Thomas Villarreal, Adolfo Villarreal and Jesse Villarreal all of Abilene and Joe Villarreal of Dallas; Maria raised two granddaughters, Liz and Priscilla. She has 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Her brothers, Abel and Luis Villarreal and a sister, Maria Blanca Luna preceded her in death.

Pallbearers for the service will be Jacob Gonzalez, Joseph Gonzalez, Josh Bogard, Bobby Quinonez, Johnny, Ellas, David and Edward Gonzales

Special thanks to Dr. Cox for all the years he cared for her and to the nurses at Hendrick Hospice that made her last days comfortable.
