Where there is darkness, light. Where there is sadness, joy. For it is in giving that we receive. It is in pardoning that we are pardoned. And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Funeral services will be at Robert Massie Funeral Chapel on Monday, May 24, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Eola Cemetery in Eola, Texas. Service arrangements are by Robert Massie Funeral Home.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband A.L. (Jack) Fiveash, her daughter Nona Parmer, her son Richard Fiveash and his wife Diane. Her precious grand children Zachary R. Fiveash, Monte Sims and his wife Trish, Tamara Delz and Shelli Carter and husband Sean: as well as her dearly loved 11 great grand children. Doris is also survived by her sister Bernice Stuart of Austin, Texas, Patsy Carter of Tennessee and her dear friend and sister in law, Maurine Fiveash of Crockett, Texas and many extended family and friends.

Doris was born to Alberta Martin Raburn and John Calvin Raburn, Jr. in San Angelo, Texas on September 13th 1923.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Theron, Henry and Edward and three sisters Jonnie, Mary and Gladys.

Doris was called "Nannie" by all who knew and loved her. She married her best friend and partner in life A.L. (Jack) Fiveash on October 31, 1942. They spent the last 67 years farming and ranching in Eola, Texas. During the early years of their marriage Nannie was a hairdresser in her home and a seamstress for the public. On the farm Nannie drove a tractor when she needed too, and worked beside Pa Pa to make a living for their family. Nannie said she taught herself to cook from the "Watkins" cookbook that was sold door to door back in the day. She was known for her fabulous home cooking for which she won many awards, including "Pecan Pie Queen" of Concho County. Nannie always made visitors to her home feel like family. No matter the time of day or the size of the crowd Nannie could always whip up something delicious on a moment’s notice. A family gathering at Nannie and Pa's house meant fun, and laughter with lots of "good eatin" especially Nannie's sour dough rolls, homemade pies, and three layer German chocolate cakes.

Nannie was an elegant lady, who worked hard all of her life. She was soft spoken and tender hearted and always saw the good in others. She was a loving wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great grandmother and the best Mother-in-law a girl could ever ask for. Nannies' life was all about taking care of her family.

The Fiveash family would like to give a very special thank you to all of the nurses, caregivers and staff at the Allison House at Sagecrest Alzheimer's Care Center for your compassionate care. Thank you to Mary Urteaga who took care of Nannie while she was still at home and thank you to Baptist Hospice for your support during Nannie's last days. To each of you your loving care of our Nannie will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers please send charitable memorials to the Meals for the Elderly, 310 E. Houston Harte, San Angelo, TX 76903 or Alzheimer's Association, 438 E. Houston Harte Expressway, San Angelo, TX 76903
