Don E. Tillotson died peacefully at home on July 6, 2003. He was born to Albert Ray and Bertha Holmes Tillotson on January 22, 1922 in Tampico, Tamps, Mexico, where he grew up.
He attended the American School in Tampico and San Antonio Academy and Texas Military Institute in San Antonio. Mr. Tillotson studied engineering at Texas A&M; University before joining the war effort where he worked in construction of the airfields in Chetumal, Mexico.
He married Marion Lane of San Antonio and they lived in Tampico, Mexico, where he worked in the family oil business until 1959 when they moved to San Antonio. Mr. Tillotson was owner and President of Guardian Power Cleaning of San Antonio, an industrial cleaning service company, until his retirement in 1997.
He was a long time member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Mr. Tillotson was a very active member of the Alamo Kiwanis Club for 41 years with 36 years of perfect attendance. He served in many capacities including chairing their fund raising projects Fiesta Noche Del Rio and the Alamo Kiwanis Western Art Show. He served as President from 1977-1978 and as Lieutentant Governor 1984-1985. He was recognized for his efforts in helping to form new Kiwanis Clubs. Mr. Tillotson was granted Life Member status in 1985. In May of 1999, he was awarded George F. Hixon Fellow by Kiwanis International.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bobby and Frank Tillotson. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marion Lane Tillotson; one daughter, Melissa Tillotson Vaughan; son-in-law, Robert L. Vaughan; four granddaughters, Hayley Lane Vaughan, Torrey Marion Vaughan, Avery Melissa Vaughan and Ellery Madeleine Vaughan; nephew, Steve Tillotson; niece, Betsy Tillotson Dippo Foderaro.
He will be remembered by his family as a loving and encouraging husband, father and grandfather who was always interested in and supportive of their lives. He will be remembered by all who knew him as a kind gentleman.
Honorary Pallbarers: Bob Alyn, Taliaferro Cooper, Huey Holick, Stan Kuenstler, Don Rymer, Ed Sethness, Greg Sethness, Steve Tillotson, Curtis Vaughan, Jr., and Robert L. Vaughan.

Ruth Marie (Patton) Miller, age 89, of San Antonio died suddenly and peacefully on Saturday, July 5, 2003.
She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church.
She was a longtime and active member of the San Antonio Symphony Society, Tuesday Musical Club and the Battle of Flowers Association.
She was a member of San Antonio Country Club, and The Argyle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wynn Dixon Miller; brothers Frank Wilson Patton and John Burton Patton.
Survived by niece, Marianna Patton Frost; nephews, Frank W. Patton, Jr. and his wife, Jacque of San Antonio, David Walker Patton and his wife, Teri of Angel Fire, New Mexico; and other cousins, nieces, nephews.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Gen. David “Tex” Hill, Col. C. E. Wheeler, Gen. John Alison, Ted O’Neill, Mike O’Neill.
Reception following the service in the McCullough Room.
Those who desire may make memorial contributions to First Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice.

SGM Robert T. “Bob” Sanders, USA (Ret), age 70, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2003, in San Antonio, TX.
He was a member of Charles Anderson Lodge #1413, A.F. & A.M. and Alzafar Shrine Temple.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Masetta Sanders; and sister, Dorothy Mae Stone.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Harriett (Betty) Sanders; children, George A. Lafferty, Jr., CSM Dennis Lafferty, USA (Ret) and wife, Tina, all of San Antonio, TX, Susan Dolphin and husband, Larry of Lodi, WI, Michael Lafferty and wife, Donna of Massachusetts, Nancy Peterson and companion, Daniel Hughes of San Antonio, TX, Robert T. Sanders, Jr. and fiancée, Beth Childs of Thornton, CO; brother, Charles E. Sanders and wife, Mae of Sumter, SC; twelve grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be send to the Alzafar Shrine Children's Hospital Fund, 901 N. Loop 1604 West, San Antonio, TX 78232.

Dean Bigham Jones, M. D.

Dean Bigham Jones, M.D., 91, of San Antonio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 5, 2003. He was born in Gatesville, Texas on March 10, 1912.
Dean was a rugged, yet scholarly young man and graduated high school by age 15 and enrolled in Baylor University. He completed Baylor Medical School at age 22, and began his medical career in General Practice in Gatesville TX. and Kingsville, TX. Dean earned the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Medical Corps serving in the Western Pacific during World War II. He served as Radiotherapy resident at the University of Michigan after his military service. He was a founding partner of M&S; X-Ray Associates in San Antonio, and remained a leader and innovator in the firm until his retirement in 1980.
After retirement Dean served as a part-time radiologist with the VA Hospital and shared his medical expertise with the medical residents there. His peers and students regarded Dean as one of the top radiologists in the country. Throughout his long career he dedicated his personal time often sacrificing financial gain to meet the needs of his patients.
His medical honors and memberships included; The American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, Bexar County Medical Association, Radiology Society of North America, Fellow of the American College of Radiology, and the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dean was an active golfer, hunter, fisherman, wilderness camper and licensed private aircraft pilot. He had a passion for boating and was a skilled celestial navigator, power boater and sailor of ocean-going sailboats. Dean was a member of the San Antonio Sail and Power Squadron and enjoyed operating floats during the Fiesta River Parade. When he was not working or enjoying outdoor activities with his friends and family he loved watching sporting events and was a faithful fan of his beloved Baylor Bears. Dean was dedicated to his family and his profession and was generous with all those he loved. His sense of humor, easy going nature and strong character will be cherished by all who were fortunate to be touched by his extraordinary life.
Dean was preceded in death by; his parents Willis and Maude Jones, his brothers Matt and Kermit Jones, his sister Edith C. Floyd, his first wife Rose Foster Jones, and one daughter Kaydean Jones. Dean is survived by; his loving and caring wife Irma Camarillo Jones, sons Robert S. Jones and wife Sally Travis, Reuben Todd Jones and wife Wendy McNeill, daughters Jennifer Helen Jones, Kimberly Camarillo Clark and husband Benjamin, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Christine McKenzie Starr
Born in San Antonio, Texas on Sep. 3, 1918

Christine McKenzie Starr, 84, of San Antonio died peacefully at home on Friday, July 4, 2003.
Christine was a graduate of The University of Texas, and a member of Alpha Phi, PEO, and First Presbyterian Church.
She was the last survivor of the McKenzie Construction Company family who were responsible for many historical buildings within the San Antonio area, such as The Tower of Life, Medical Arts, S.W. Bell, and Olmos Dam.
Christine was the epitome of a “Southern Lady”, very gracious and loving.
She was beloved by all that knew her.
Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Edward H. Starr, Jr. She is survived by; son Edward Peyton Starr and wife Patty of Beaverton, OR., daughter Teena Starr Larson and husband Col. (Ret.) Randy Larson, grandchildren Edward Peyton Starr, Jr., Darci Elaine Starr Magee, Randy and Tyler Larson, Tommy and Michelle Kay, and 10 great grandchildren.

Sally Louise Magers
Born in Woodsboro, Texas on Feb. 12, 1930
Died Jul. 4, 2003 and resided in San Antonio, TX.

Sally Johnson Magers, age 73, of San Antonio, Texas died on July 4, 2003.
preceded in death by son, Mason Lonnie Magers.
Survived by daughters, Sally Lindsay and husband, Lynn, Kim Morris and husband, Aaron; grandchildren, Lynn Lindsay and wife, Kristi, Katharine Heying and husband, Scott, Mason Travis Lindsay, Elliot Conner Lindsay; great grandson, Cainan Heying; sister, Catherine Johnson Passmore, and her special “child” Saki.
Our sweet little mother will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Her family wishes to give their deep appreciation to Homewood Residence at Castle Hills, and Hospice Home Care for their love, support and care.
A reception will follow the service in Capers Hall.
In lieu of flowers, her daughters request memorial contributions be made to the Cancer Therapy Research Center, 7979 Wurzbach San Antonio, TX.
