Sadie Dorsey
Funeral services for Sadie D. Dorsey, 89, of Kendleton, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Pleas Mayfield officiating. Burial will follow in Paradise Cemetery in Kendleton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Friday.
Mrs. Dorsey died Jan. 14, 2007, at Gulf Coast Medical Center. She was born Aug. 17, 1917, in Kendleton to James Norward and Margaret York Dillard.
She worked as a cook for the public school district and the hospital for more than 40 years. Mrs. Dorsey was Baptist by faith and a member of the Heroines of Jericho No. 358.
Survivors include daughters Ruby Rodgers and Margaret Dorsey McGregor, both of Kendleton; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Dorsey Sr.; and sons, Leroy Dorsey Jr. and James Norward Dorsey.

Vera Hough
Funeral services for Vera Hough, 86, of Wharton, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Parish of the Nativity Church in Eagle Lake with Rev. Robert Guerra officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the chapel of Eagle Lake Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hough died Jan. 9, 2007, in El Campo. She was born May 15, 1920, in Crystal City to the late Edward Henry and Veronika Marek.
She was a homemaker and was Catholic by faith.
Survivors include step-sons, Edward F. Hough and wife Margel of East Bernard and Virgil Hough Jr. of Brazoria; sister, Annie Pavalat of Austin; granddaughters, Veronica Strackbein and husband Brent and Sherry Waters and husband Wayne Jr.; grandsons, Dennis Scotka and wife Mary, Edward E. Hough II and wife Lynn and Garrett Hough.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Henry and Veronika Marek; her husband, Virgil Hough; sisters, Vlasta Petrosky, Rosie Marek, Sophie Walkoviak, Louise Brasher, Lillie Thompson and Antonia Hough; brothers, Edward Marek Jr. and Louis Marek; and step-children, Mark Hough and Anita Scotka.
Pallbearers are Edward F. Hough II, Garrett Hough, Brady Hough, Cole Hough, Dennis Scotka and Randy Hough.
Honorary pallbearers are Valerie
Cheatham, Dr. Nyguen and Dr. Wissinger.

Ethel McAfee
Funeral services for Ethel Mae McAfee, 85, of El Campo, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in El Campo. Burial will follow in El Campo Community Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.
Mrs. McAfee died Jan. 14, 2007, at El Campo Memorial Hospital. She was born May 25, 1921, in Hallettsville to the late Orilla Orange and Rollin Koontz.
Survivors include daughter, Lisa Bailey; sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Lula McAfee and George and Beverly McAfree; brother and sister-in-law, Governor and Mildred Koontz; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Ora Anderson
Funeral services for Ora Lee Anderson, 86, of Egypt, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Gilead Baptist Church with Rev. Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Gilead Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Friday.
Mrs. Anderson died Feb. 13, 2007, at Gulf Coast Medical Center. She was born Jan. 12, 1921, in Cameron to Earnest and Annie McCarter White.
Survivors include sons, Leroy Lemons and Walter Lemon Jr., both of Houston; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

James Badgett
Funeral services are pending at Wharton Funeral Home for James L. Badgett Jr., age 80, of Boling.
Mr. Badgett died Feb. 11, 2007, in a Wharton hospital following a sudden illness.
T.V. Brantley
Funeral services for T.V. Brantley, 87 formerly of Wharton, were held Monday at First Baptist Church with Rev. Mack Mathis officiating. Burial followed at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Visitation was held Sunday at Wharton Funeral Home.
Mr. Brantley died Feb. 9, 2007, at his residence in Tyler. He was born on Nov. 27, 1919, in Bartlesville, Okla., the son of Thadius Fred Brantley and Ada Fern Robinson Brantley.
He had been a resident of Wharton most of his life. Mr. Brantley was a graduate of Dalhart High School and of Hardin Simmons University in 1941. He later obtained his master’s of music degree from the University of Michigan in 1952.
Mr. Brantley was employed as a band director at Boling and Wharton ISD schools for more than 30 years. He married Laddye Lee Brownshadel in Wharton on Dec. 20, 1959. She preceded him in death on Feb. 28, 2002. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Wharton.
Survivors include his sisters; Vivian Reeder and Maxine Hartsell, both of Duncan, Okla.; and brother, Bill Brantley of Kilgore. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dwight Leon Brantley.
In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to the Scholarship Fund at First Baptist Church, 507 North Fulton, Wharton, TX 77488.
Harry Dodd
Harry Ernest Dodd, 56, of Sheridan, on Feb. 3, 2007, went to be with the Lord. He was born on Nov. 20, 1950, to Harry Charles and Rita Boyd Dodd in Anaconda, Mon. He moved to Imperial Beach, Calif., were son Donald Dean Dodd was born.
Mr. Dodd served his country in the U.S. Army. In the Army he worked in the Pentagon, and served in the Vietname War were he received the Purple Heart. He was a standing member of the American Legion Post No. 22 in New York for more than 30 years.
He was a building contractor for many years in California. He then moved to New England area where he continued working as a contractor. Mr. Dodd was seeking a new career and graduated from Boston College with an associate’s degree in nursing and several other degrees, including computer science.
While in New England, Mr. Dodd was involved in community endeavors which included various acting, singing and dancing roles in the community theater.
He was also part owner of East End Collectibles, an antique and collectibles shop. Later he moved to be near his one and only sister, Marguriette Dodd. Mr. Dodd worked at various facilities as an RN. In 1999 he worked at Richmond State School where be met his future wife, Penny Botard Cosper, an LVN. Mr. Dodd had worked in the local area as an RN at St. Mark’s in LaGrange, Weimar Hospital, Lavaca Medical Center, and finally found his niche at Hallettsville Rehabilitation Center.
Ernest and Penny were married on Friday, Oct. 13, 2O00, at the Assembly of God Church in Needville. They made their home in Sheridan.
He is survived by wife, Penny, of Sheridan; sister, Marguriette Dodd of Hungerford; son, Donald Dean Dodd; Step-son, Navy Chief Coby Cosper, wife Brook and their two children, Ian Scott Cosper, 3 years old, and Kenzy Marie Cosper, 4 months old, of Imperial Beach, Calif.; step-daughter, Brianna Cosper Linnemier and husband Joe Jr. and their child Ashlin Grace Linnemier, 8 years old of Sheridan; niece, Lisa Malina Hines and husband Ron of Orlando, Fla., and their children Ariel Elizabeth Hines, 6 years old, and Isaac Allan Hines, 3 years old of Orlando, Fla.; and niece, Julie Kayegarbs and husband Kevin of Rosenberg.
Ernest will be missed by many acquaintances, friends and family.

Lawrence Parson
Funeral services for Lawrence Ray Parson, 54, of Wharton, are pending at Matthews Funeral Home.
Mr. Parson died Feb. 12, 2007, at his residence.
Antonio Robles
Antonio Cuellar Robles Sr., age 80, of Wharton, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2007, in Wharton following a brief illness. He was born on Dec. 19, 1926, in Old Gulf, the son of the late Genaro Robles and Cleotilde Cuellar Robles.
Mr. Robles was a resident of Wharton for the past 20 years and was a former resident of Newgulf. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army as a member of the 11th Airborne Division. He worked as a pipe fitter for Texas Gulf Sulfur for 34 years until his retirement. Mr. Robles then worked for the Boling School District as a bus driver for 10 years.
He married Basilia Casimira Munoz on Dec. 22, 1951, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton. He was Catholic by faith. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Rudolph and Manuel Robles. Mr. Robles was a member of the American Legion and the Dairy Queen Coffee Drinkers Club. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and shooting his pistol. He also was a volunteer with the Senior Friends at Gulf Coast Hospital.
A Rosary was recited Monday evening at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home and a Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church with Rev. Raymond Jackson officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.
Survivors include his wife, Basilia Robles of Wharton, daughters; Evangelina Alanis and husband, Hector of Wharton and Martina Aggoun and husband, Roger of Katy; son, Antonio Robles Jr. and wife, Dora, of Katy; brothers, Adolph Robles and wife, Helen, of Victoria, and Genaro Robles and wife Lucy of Louisville, Ken.; sisters, Rebecca Pena of Boling, Valentina San Miguel and husband, Jesse, of Wharton, Louisa Gonzales of Palacois and Chavela Ramirez and husband, Eloy, of Corpus Christi; grandchildren, Antonio Robles III, Javier Robles, Nadia Simmons, Christina Alanis and Angela Alanis; great-grandchildren, Cara Robles and Olivia Robles.
Pallbearers were Johnnie Gutierrez, Eddie Soliz, Antonio Robles III, Javier Robles, Jesse San Miguel Jr. and Adolph Robles Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Wharton American Legion, Ruben Gutierrez, Rudy Robles Jr., and Rudy Robles, III.
Funeral services were under the direction of Wharton Funeral Home.
Martha Thurmond
Funeral services are pending at Wharton Funeral Home for Martha Thurmond, 77, of Wharton.
Mrs. Thurmond died Feb. 12, 2007, in a Wharton nursing home following an extended illness.
Leroy Breithaupt
Memorial services for Leroy Sherman Breithaupt, 73, of Wharton, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wharton with Rev. Laura Olson
officiating.
Mr. Breithaupt died Feb. 15, 2007, in Wharton following a brief illness. He was born on Sept. 30,1933, in Wharton, son of the late Hugo Alexander Breithaupt Sr. and Mary Marie Chudalla Breithaupt.
He was a lifelong resident of Wharton and was employed by Larry's Mechanics Shop in Wharton. Survivors include his stepdaughter, Joyce Henderson and
husband, Preston; sisters, Sharline
Klimple of Wharton and Wilma Fay Breithaupt of East Bernard; brothers, Hugo Breithaupt Jr. of McDade, Henry Breithaupt of Crofton, Ken., Melvin Breithaupt of Groveton, Ga., and Edward
“Butch” Breithaupt of East Bernard; six grandchildren; twenty two great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, four sisters, three brothers and his wife, Naomi V. Breithaupt.
