FLOWER MOUND – Funeral services for Shirley Jones, 94, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2001 in the Keever Chapel with Rev. Johnny Mansell and Rev. Dick Moody officiating.

Born on Dec. 29, 1906 in Scott County, Miss., the daughter of William S. and Mary Anna Latham Sprouse, she passed away March 10, 2001 at the Cross Timbers Care Center in Flower Mound.

Preceded in death by two daughters Annah Christine and Bobbie Nell; she is survived by her son H.D. “Bo” Jones of Tyler; three daughters Fontaine Robertson of Ennis, Jo Thompson of Dallas and Marie Sibley of Flower Mound; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Larry Jones, Mark Sibley, Jeff Sibley, Marcos Castillo, Eric Castillo and Mike Mayes. Honorary pallbearers were Chip Brown and Greg Thompson.

Interment followed in the Elm Branch cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary.

Nicholas Mendez Martinez
Sept. 26, 1909 – March 13, 2001

ROCKWALL – Funeral services for Nicholas Mendez Martinez, of Rockwall, were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2001 in the chapel of Waxahachie Funeral Home.

Born on Sept. 26, 1909 in Guanajunto, Mexico, he passed away March 13, 2001 in the Rockwall Nursing Center.

He is survived by several grandchildren, nieces and nephews and the ones who have been very helpful in his care John Rodriguiz of Garland, Trinidad Ponce and Marie Elodia Rodriguiz.

Interment followed in the Waxahachie City cemetery under the direction of Waxahachie Funeral Home.

Arlis Garner Owens
March 17, 1924 – March 17, 2001

WAXAHACHIE – Funeral services for Arlis Garner Owens, 77 of Waxahachie, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2001 in the Park Meadows Baptist Church with Pastors Joe Langley and James Beam officiating.

Born on March 17, 1924 in Hope, Ark., the son of Ben Walker and Susie Pearl Goodman Owens, he passed away March 17, 2001 at Renfro Healthcare Center.

Preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Amy Owens, three brothers Calvin, Luther and Jesse Foy Owens; he is survived by his wife of 55 years Dorothy Louise Byars Owens; children Joyce and Rudy Armstrong, Regina and Ronnie Thedford all of Waxahachie, Richard and Stacy Owens of Midlothian, Scott Owens of Addison, and Lee Ann Owens of Waxahachie; grandchildren Lance and Kim Armstrong, Travis and Kathy Armstrong, Hal and Rhonda Stanford, Melissa Thedford, Corey and Heidi Thedford, Kyle and Lyndsie Owens, Brad and Stacey Owens, Heather Owens and Billy and Philip Galt; 10 great-grandchildren Taylor and Trent Armstrong, Victoria Armstrong, Marshall and Holli Stanford, Erika, Courtney and Mitchell Clark and Ty and Hannah Thedford; brother and sister-in-law B.W. and Barbara Owens of Waxahachie; brother Jim Owens of Memphis, Tenn.; sisters Viola Rogers of Waxahachie, Martha Kelly of Waxahachie and Rose and Jim Sanford of Lobeville, Tenn.; and special cousins Robert and Bobby Howard.

Pallbearers were Lance Armstrong, Travis Armstrong, Hal Stanford, Brad Owens, Kyle Owens and Corey Thedford. Honorary pallbearers were Tom Sanford, Mike Kelly, Jesse Owens, Randy Byers, G.T. Morton, James Ledbetter, Darrell Stauffer and Melvin Glannon.

Interment followed in the Oak Branch cemetery under the direction of Boze-Mitchell Funeral Home in Waxahachie.

Jamie Lee Uptergrove
Nov. 7, 1978 – March 9, 2001

DALLAS – Funeral services for Jamie Lee Uptergrove, 22 of Dallas, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2001 in the Keever Mortuary – Palmer Chapel with Rev. Mel Bishara officiating.

Born on Nov. 7, 1978 in Dallas, the son of Ricky and Kari Raney Uptergrove, he passed away March 9, 2001 at his home.

He is survived by his wife Melinda Stegall Uptergrove of Dallas; father Ricky Uptergrove; mother and step-father Kari and Hickman Wallace of Wylie; brother Scott Wallace of Wylie and grandmother Billie Young of Palmer.

Pallbearers were Randy Tipton, Hickman Wallace, Doug Harper, Rodney Caladrent, Matt Garza and Kim Smith.

Interment followed in the Red Oak cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary.

Preston K. Widner
Feb. 3, 1932 – March 9, 2001

ENNIS – Graveside services for Preston K. Widner, 69 of Ennis, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2001 in the Palmer cemetery with Rev. Eddie Ricks officiating. Military honors were provided by Ft. Hood.

Born on Feb. 3, 1932 in Girard, Kan., the son of Preston R. and Joe Louise Stalker Widner, he passed away March 9, 2001 at the Ennis Regional Medical Center.

Preceded in death by a brother John R. Widner and granddaughter Shelly Duran; he is survived by his wife Caecilia of Ennis; two sons Joe and his wife Linda Widner of Palmer and Preston Robert “Bob” Widner of Palmer; daughter Virginia M. Widner of Ennis; four grandchildren Natasha Widner, Tyler Widner, Jackie Wade and Gary B. “Buddy” Wade; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary.

Jose Eleuterio Pantoja
April 18, 1929 — Feb. 24, 2005

LANCASTER — Services for Jose Eleuterio Pantoja, 75, of Lancaster were 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 28, 2005 at Saint Francus of Assisi with Father Arthur Mallinson officiating.

Born April 18, 1929 in Guadalcqzar, Mexico to Arcadio Pantoja and Eulalia Zapata, he died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005 at Charlton Methodist Hospital in Dallas.

Preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Pedro Pantojo; and a sister, Cecil Zapata, he is survived by his wife Maria Pantoja of Lancaster; two daughters, Aurelia Cruz of San Juan, Texas and Maria Arreola of Lancaster; seven sons, Raul Pantoja of Wilder, Ida., Luis Pantoja of Weslaco, and Nicolas Pantoja, Antonio Pantoja, Regoberto Pantoja, Pedro Pantoja and Javier Pantoja, all of Lancaster; a sister, Nicolasa Pantoja of Guadalcqzar, Mexico; a brother, Irineo Pantoja of Durango, Mexico; 21 grand-children; 18 great grand-children; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Javier Pantoja, Raul Pantoja, Luis Pantoja, Nicolas Pantoja, Pedro Pantoja and Antonio Pantoja.

Burial was in Ferris Memorial Park North.

Green Funeral Home in Ferris was in charge of arrangements.

Linda Kathryn Finch

FERRIS — Services for Linda Kathryn Finch, 52, of Ferris were 10 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2005 at Green Funeral Home in Ferris with Brother Mike Minchew officiating.

Born Nov. 27, 1952 in Ennis to Ernest Eugene Rackley and Shirley Jean Cochran, she died Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at Baylor Medical Center in Waxahachie.

She was a lifetime resident of Ferris. She had been a housewife.

Preceded in death by her father, she is survived by her husband Harold “Dog” Finch of Ferris; mother Shirley C. Silvers of Ferris; step father Dewey Silvers of Ferris; son Paul Finch and wife Diana Finch of Wills Point; daughter Tonya Collard and husband Gary Collard of Scurry; two brothers, Ronald Rackley and wife Marla Rackley of Ferris, and Buddy Silvers of Balch Springs; two sisters, Donna Sadler and husband Bobby Sadler of Scurry, and Sharla Green and husband Ed Green of Bristol; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Cedar Creek Crematory in Mabank performed cremation.

Green Funeral Home in Ferris was in charge of arrangements.

Gloria Maria Coronado

WILMER — Services for Gloria Maria Coronado, 65, of Wilmer were Monday, March 28, 2005 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Ferris with Oscar Gales officiating.

Born May 4, 1939 in Mission to Alejandro and Antonia Gonzales, she died at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2005 in Dallas.

Preceded in death by her father, she is survived by her mother of Waxahachie; two sons, Israel Guerrero of Dallas and Thomas Coronado of Waxahachie; seven brothers, Oscar Gonzales of Denver City, Mario Gonzales of Waxahachie, Roy Gonzales of Palmer, Rene Gonzales of Coppell, David Gonzales of Corsicana, Isabel Gonzales of Palmer and Charles Gonzales of Ennis; sister Janie Mejorado of Waxahachie; 10 grand children; and 11 great grand children.

Burial was at Trinity cemetery in Wilmer.

Green Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Milton Carroll Helm
March 18, 1927 — March 28, 2005

WAXAHACHIE — Graveside services for Milton Carroll Helm, 78, of Waxahachie were 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at Waxahachie City cemetery.

Born March 18, 1927 in San Antonio to Walter and Arrie Helm, he died Monday, March 28, 2005 at his home in Waxahachie.

He was married with Tressie Faye Kestler on Dec. 5, 1953.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years; three daughters, Pam Rogers and husband Mark Rogers of Waxahachie, Linda Charassri of Royse City, and Liz Zara and Dr. Josh Zara of Las Vegas, Nev.; and six grandchildren, Nicholas Charassri, Alex Zara, Erica Zara, Jill Yates and husband Jeff, Megan Rogers and Ashley Rogers.

Burial was in Waxahachie City cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Waxahachie Funeral Home.

Kyle Lamar Brammer
Sept. 10, 1932 — March 22, 2005

FERRIS — Services for Kyle Lamar Brammer, 72, were 2 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2005 at Green Funeral Home with Dr. Bobby Adams officiating.

Born Sept. 10, 1932 in Birmingham, Ala. to Frank Edward Brammer and Ruby Wharton, he died Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at 1923 E. Mars Rd. in Ferris.

He was a retired truck driver.

He had served in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant and receiving the Purple Heart award.

He was married with Emma Lou Thate on May 12, 1961.

Preceded in death by his parents, son Kyle Brammer Jr. and a grandson, James Byron Frazier, he is survived by his wife; five daughters, Charla Nicholson of Palmer, Lorrie Tramel of Combine, Sindy Frazier of Scurry, Peggy Thomas of Cape Girardeau, Mo. and Donna Torans of Kilgore; sister Shirley Edwards of Alabama; brother Charles Brammer of Harperville, Ala.; 12 grand children; 17 great grand children; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Patrick Brammer, Todd Walls, C.N. Frazier, Allen Nicholson, Terry Cox and Kenny Parks.

Burial was at Trinity cemetery in Wilmer.

Rena Beatrice Davis

FERRIS — Services for Rena Beatrice Davis, 86, were 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2005 at Green Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Ricketts officiating.

Born Sept. 2, 1918 in Kemp to James Monroe Belcher and Aribell Dams, she died Sunday, March 27, 2005 at Medical Center of Lancaster.

She had been a housewife.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband Luther “Shorty” Davis and a son, Donald Mack Davis, she is survived by three daughters, Cleo Camp and husband Ernest Camp of Ferris, Jimmie McIntire and husband Ray McIntire of Sulphur Springs, and Jo Hobbs and husband Billy Hobbs of Tyler; a son, Luther Davis of Ferris; brother Nolen Belcher of Kemp; a daughter-in-law, Melba Davis of Crandall; 13 grand children; 28 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Pallbearers were Tim Camp, Ronnie Carl Davis, Paul Horton, Damon Davis, Scott Wood and Norman Ballard.

Burial was at Trinity cemetery in Wilmer.
