WAXAHACHIE - Funeral services for Kenneth Ray Nutt, 65, were held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2001 at the Waxahachie Funeral Home Chapel with Charles Campbell officiating.

Born on March 4, 1936 in Corsicana, the son of Noah and Gladys (Lusk) Nutt, he passed away March 7, 2001 at Ellis County Baylor Medical Center.

He is survived by four sons Jimmy L. Nutt, Kenneth R. Nutt, Andy R. Nutt and Julian Milner; six daughters Kendra Sadler, Brenda Prather, Frances Cummings, Linda Lamb, Patsy Baugher and Vannessa Weatherford; brother Wilbert Nutt; sisters Betty Jordan, Christine Wilson, Linda Jordan, Peggy Bailey and Barbara Mabry; 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Andy Nutt, Jimmy Nutt, Kenny Nutt, Julian Milner, John Prather Jr. and Terry Sadler.

Interment followed in the Red Oak cemetery under the direction of Waxahachie Funeral Home.

Harold Loyd Prater
Dec. 22, 1925 - March 3, 2001

RED OAK - Funeral services for Harold Loyd Prater, 75 of Red Oak, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2001 at Red Oak Funeral Home Chapel.

Born on Dec. 22, 1925 in Richland, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Prater, he passed away March 3, 2001 in Red Oak.

Preceded in death by his parents and daughter Gwynne Prater; he is survived by his wife Dorothy Prater of Red Oak; son Harold Loyd Prater Jr. of Duncanville; daughters Charlsye Holley of Arlington and Renee Sandefer of Colorado; and 10 grandchildren.

Interment followed in the Waxahachie cemetery under the direction Red Oak Funeral Home, Berdon Byrum.

Matthew D. Tidwell
Aug. 22, 1983 - March 7, 2001

ENNIS - Funeral services for Matthew D. Tidwell, 17 of Ennis, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Keever Chapel.

Born on Aug. 22, 1983 in Denton, the son of Leslie and Sheila Dixon Tidwell, he passed away March 7, 2001 at his home.

Preceded in death by a grandmother Jane Dixon; he is survived by his parents of Ennis; three sisters Andrea Thompson of Wylie, Tiffany Tidwell of Denton and Christy Tidwell of Ennis; grandparents Howard and Bobbie Tidwell, Wayne and Pauline Dixon all of Ennis; and nephew Cody Thompson.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary.

Jerry Lee Torrez
Dec. 28, 1961 - March 7, 2001

WAXAHACHIE - Funeral services for Jerry Lee Torrez, 39, were held at 6 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2001 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel with Deacon Denis Corbin officiating.

Born on Dec. 28, 1961 in Dallas, the son of Thomas and Lupe Richardson, he passed away March 7, 2001 in Parkland Hospital in Dallas.

He is survived by his parents of Waxahachie; son Jonathan Torrez of Dallas; two brothers George Torrez of Dallas and Luis Torrez of Grand Prairie; two stepbrothers Clinton Douglas and Christopher Richardson both of Mesquite; sister Maria Gomez and stepsister Regina Fox of Rockwall.

Memorials may be made to the American Liver Fun, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.

William Douglas 'Bill' Welch
Sept. 21, 1949 - March 5, 2001

ENNIS - Funeral services for William Douglas 'Bill' Welch, 51 of Ennis, were held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2001 at the Anthony Drive Baptist Church in Ennis with Bro. Eddy Ricks officiating.

Born on Sept. 21, 1949 in Ft. Sam Houston, Bexar Co., Texas, the son of William Henry and Elizabeth (Mixon) Welch, he passed away March 5, 2001.

Preceded in death by his parents and brother Glenn Vaughn; he is survived by his wife Sarah; their daughter Rose Elizabeth both of Ennis; two brothers Jefferson Vaughn, his twin Wallace Welch and wife Linda all of Dallas; two sisters Judy Rockovich and her husband Matt of Portland and Gersey and her husband Dr. Williams Lammers of San Antonio; and mother-in-law Patsy Patton of Waxahachie.

Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Bill.

Interment followed in the Trinidad cemetery under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.

Walter Lee 'W.L.' West
March 5, 1932 - March 11, 2001

ENNIS - Funeral services for Walter Lee 'W.L.' West, 69 of Ennis, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2001 at the Farley Street Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Isaacs and Rev. Danny Pope officiating.

Born on March 5, 1932 in Dallas County, the son of Walter Lee Sr. and Minnie Brazoria (Yates) West, he passed away March 11, 2001 at his residence.

Preceded in death by his parents; he is survived by his wife Dura West of Ennis; three sons and their wives Mr. and Mrs. Skip West of Flowery Branch, Ga., Mr. and Mrs. Randy West of Morton and Mr. and Mrs. Kevin West of Gardenville; two daughters and their husbands Mr. and Mrs. Steve Leonard of Garland and Mr. and Mrs. Jason Dahlin of Arlington; sister Judy Kelley of Coppell; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were James Henry, Keith Hughes, Deryl Lee, Leon Lee, Jimmy Webb and James Woodard.

Memorials may be made to the W.L. West Benefit Fund, Ennis State Bank, P.O. Box 370, Ennis, Texas 75120.

Interment followed in the DFW National cemetery under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.

Victor W. Callendar

WAXAHACHIE – Funeral services for Victor W. Callendar, 77 of Cumby, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2001 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel with Dr. Leroy Fenton officiating.

Born on Oct. 2, 1923 in Protection, Kan., the son of Huey Wesley and Jessie Anitta (Cochran) Callendar, he passed away March 13, 2001 in Dallas.

Preceded in death by his parents, son and two brothers; he is survived by his wife Lottie Mae Callendar of Cumby; two sons Victor Wayne Callendar Jr. and wife Billie of Cumby and Jimmy Ray Callendar of Houston; four daughters Sharon McClendon of Saginaw, Pat Henley and husband Don of Waxahachie, Shirley Parker and husband Roger of Seattle and Brenda Jean of Mansfield; sister Anitta Voyles of Davis, Okla.; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Interment followed in the Mt. Peak cemetery under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.

Randall L. Carpenter
Nov. 29, 1950 – March 14, 2001

ENNIS – Graveside services for Randall L. Carpenter, 50 of Garrett, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2001 in Myrtle cemetery with Rev. Eddie Ricks officiating.

Born on Nov. 29, 1950 in Ennis, the son of Bobby R. and Martha Dodson Carpenter, he passed away March 14, 2001 in Garrett.

He is survived by two sons Gregory L. Carpenter of Waco and Joshua Carpenter; daughter Hillary A. Carpenter of Dallas; mother and step-father Martha and J.L. Lewis of Ennis; sister and her husband Lisa and Bill Wolaver of Ennis; nephew Andrew Wolaver of Ennis; and two nieces Hannah and Bethany Wolaver of Ennis.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary.

Cecil R. Creed
Nov. 12, 1912 – March 13, 2001

WAXAHACHIE – Graveside services for Cecil R. Creed, 88 of Waxahachie, were held at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2001 at Waxahachie City cemetery.

Born on Nov. 12, 1912 in Waxahachie, the son of John T. and Ruby (Childress) Creed, he passed away March 13, 2001 at his residence.

Preceded in death by his wife in 1987, parents, brother and four sisters; he is survived by two daughters Patricia McCulloch and Wanda Joslin both of Waxahachie; son Myles R. Creed and wife Antoinette of Parma, Ohio; two sister Lois Williams and husband Ollin of Ft. Worth and Virginia Baker and husband L.H. of Waxahachie; 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.

James Henry “Hoot” Farrar
June 4, 1917 – March 13, 2001

WAXAHACHIE – Funeral services for James Henry “Hoot” Farrar, 83, were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2001 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel with Bro. Walter Sanders officiating.

Born on June 4, 1917 in Henrietta, Okla., the son of Henry T. and Verda Jane (Johnson) Farrar, he passed away March 13, 2001 at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.

Preceded in death by his parents, wife and sister Mildred Paris; he is survived by two sons Jim Farrar and wife Ellen of Weatherford and Jerry Ray Farrar and wife Della of Maypearl; brother Bob Farrar of Inola, Okla.; sister Juanita Lewis of Tulsa, Okla.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were James Allen, Chad Farrar, Johnny Farrar, Tobar Hensley, Jeff Hill and Jimmy Reavis.

Interment followed in the Maypearl cemetery under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.

Freddie Jay Richardson Graves
Sept. 9, 1914 – March 14, 2001

ALPINE – Graveside services for Freddie Jay Richardson Graves, of Alpine, were held at 4 p.m. at the Graves cemetery in Rockett.

Born on Sept. 9, 1914 in Orange, the daughter of John Reddin and Medora Ann Burton Richardson, she passed away March 14, 2001 at the Ennis Care Center.

Preceded in death by her husband Robert Russell Graves Jr.; she is survived by a nephew and his wife Charley C. and Shirley Ann Jackson Graves of Rockett; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Pete and Kathryn Graves Clopton of Rockett; and two sisters-in-law Nell Graves Sawyer of Abilene and Virginia Graves Humphries of Rockett.

Memorials may be made to the Graves cemetery in Rockett or the Rockett Christian Church.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Red Oak Funeral Home, Berdon Byrum.

J.A. “Judge” Gray
April 3, 1919 – March 17, 2001

WAXAHACHIE – Graveside services for J.A. “Judge” Gray, 81, were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2001 at Sardis cemetery with Rev. Dan Hitt officiating.

Born on April 3, 1919 in the Long Branch Community, the son of James Andrew Sr. and Maud (Byrum) Gray, he passed away March 17, 2001 at his residence.

Preceded in death by his parents; wife Jo Ann, sisters and brothers-in-law Vernon and Hazel Gray Cavender and W.M. “Bud” and Pauline Gray Holmes, brother-in-law Erbert West and nephew Wayne Holmes; he is survived by his daughter Diane Gray of Euless; sister Willie Eva West of Midlothian; niece Mary Elizabeth Cantrell of Ft. Worth; nephews Charles Cavender of Houston and Bobby Gray West of Midlothian; and special nieces Nancy Marks of Grandview and Jane Jordan of Waxahachie.

Pallbearers were his grand-nephews Gary Cantrell, Nick Jordan, Jeff Jordan, John West, Ken Marks and grand-nephew-in-law Greg Smith. Honorary pallbearers were nephew Bobby Gray West, nephews-in-law Buck Jordan and James Marks and longtime friend Melvin Loveless.

Memorials may be made to the Judge and Jo Ann Gray Scholarship Fund in memory of Judge and Jo Ann Gray, % Martha Cunningham, Waxahachie High School.
