ENNIS – Graveside services for Blanche B. Widener, 80 of Ennis, were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2001 in Myrtle cemetery with Chaplain Jerry Carter officiating.
Born on Sept. 18, 1920 in Waymouth, Mass., the daughter of Rufus H. and Gladys I. Hollis Blanton, she passed away April 23, 2001 at Claystone Manor Nursing Home in Ennis.
Preceded in death by her husband Richard Earl Widener, son Darrell Widener on April 11, 2001 and sister Lillian B. Richardson; she is survived by her son Jerald W. Widener of Ennis; daughter-in-law Mae Widener of Ennis; six grandsons; four granddaughters and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Andy Widener, Carey Widener, Grady Widener, Richard Widener, Joe Widener, Tim Slovak and Barry Widener.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary.

Thomas Victor Ballard
Nov. 12, 1925 – May 5, 2001

PECAN HILL – Graveside services for Thomas Victor Ballard, 75 of Pecan Hill, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2001 in the Red Oak cemetery with Jim Benton officiating.
Born on Nov. 12, 1925 in Troy, Ala., the son of Thomas Jarrey and Hattie Sue West Ballard, he passed away May 5, 2001 in Waxahachie.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Ballard of Pecan Hill; sons Tim Ballard of Cleburne and Daniel Ballard of Houston; daughter Donna Brandt of California and sister Harriet Haynes of Colorado.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Red Oak Funeral Home, Berdon Byrum.

Lola Lorene “Toadie” Smith Ray
Aug. 27, 1908 – May 6, 2001

BRISTOL – Graveside services for Lola Lorene “Toadie” Smith Ray, 92 of Bristol, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2001 at Ferris Memorial Park North with Dr. Bobby Adams officiating.
Born on Aug. 27, 1908 in Riesel, the daughter of David and Arrilda Smith, she passed away May 6, 2001 at her home.
Preceded in death by her husband Robert Asa Ray and her parents, five brothers and five sisters and grandson Terry Love; she is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law Bobbie Jean and Jimmy Birdwell of Ferris and Patsy and Walter Wilson Jr. of Mesquite; seven grandchildren Donna Shaw, Jayme Birdwell, Janna Neal and Robbie Birdwell of Ferris, Clint Birdwell of Flower Mound, Arrilda Love and Laura Wilson of Mesquite; 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Green Funeral Home in Ferris.

Alice Belle Bean
Dec. 19, 1917 – May 5, 2001

WAXAHACHIE – Graveside services for Alice Belle Bean were held at 3 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2001 at Rosedale cemetery in Gladewater.
Born on Dec. 19, 1917 near Marathon, the daughter of Fred and Effie Rice, she passed away May 5, 2001.
Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Ray Bean and brother Fredrick Rice; she is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Cynthia and Jim Pyeatt of Duncanville and Linda and Darrell Thompson of Waxahachie; son and daughter-in-law Roger and Barbara Bean of Lewisville; three granddaughters Melissa Land, Jennifer West and Kristi Thompson; two great-granddaughters Samantha Land and Sarah West and sister-in-law Nellie Rice of Hamilton.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Waxahachie Funeral Home.

Olen Ray Bickerstaff
Dec. 7, 1929 – May 9, 2001

GLENN HEIGHTS – Funeral services for Olen Ray Bickerstaff, 71 of Glenn Heights, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2001 at Red Oak Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Gaylon Riddle officiating.
Born on Dec. 7, 1929 in Mart, he passed away May 9, 2001 in Glenn Heights.
He is survived by his wife Doris Bickerstaff of Glenn Heights; sons Nathan Bickerstaff and wife Sharon of Waxahachie, Timothy Bickerstaff of Red Oak and Donald Bickerstaff and wife Jennifer of Red Oak; brothers Eugene Bickerstaff of San Antonio and John Bickerstaff of Waco; sisters Louise Noah of San Antonio and Mary Underhill of North Carolina; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Interment followed in the Red Oak cemetery under the direction of Red Oak Funeral Home, Berdon Byrum.

Myron Herbert Major
July 10, 1915 – May 7, 2001

MILFORD – Funeral services for Myron Herbert Major, 85 of Milford, were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2001 at First Baptist Church in Milford with Rev. John Wheatley, Dr. Earl Craig and Jimmy Page officiating.
Born on July 10, 1915 in Itasca, he passed away May 7, 2001 at his home.
Preceded in death by sister Clelialee Page and two brothers B.T. Major and Elbert Major; he is survived by his wife Inez of Milford; two sons James Major and wife Linda of Granbury and Myron Major II and his wife Suzy of Milford; daughter Myrolene May and husband Roger of Golden, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and four sisters Jewell Major, Beth Price, Jane Ellison and Billie Pannill.
Interment followed in the Milford cemetery under the direction of Boze-Mitchell Funeral Home in Waxahachie.

Kenneth E. McCollum
Jan. 24, 1925 – May 4, 2001

ENNIS – Funeral services for Kenneth E. McCollum, 76 of Ennis, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2001 in the Keever Chapel with Rev. Randall McCollum officiating.
Born on Jan. 24, 1925 in Oak Grove, the son of Roy and Esther Lois Hurley McCollum, he passed away May 4, 2001 at his home.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy of Ennis; two daughters and their husbands Sara and Wilson Erwin of Ennis, Patricia and Stephen McNutt of Dallas; brother Rev. Randall McCollum of Ennis; sister Fay Terry of Lubbock; and two grandsons Kyle and Will Erwin.
Pallbearers were Will Erwin, Lucio Benavides, Charles Ray Spurgeon, Joey Glaspy, David Shaw and Wayne McCollum.
Interment followed in the Waxahachie City cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary.

Argie Raney
Sept. 6, 1915 – May 5, 2001

ENNIS – Funeral services for Argie Raney, 85 of Ennis, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2001 in the Keever Chapel with Bro. Chuck Barber and Edwin Lipsey officiating.
Born on Sept. 6, 1915 in Bardwell, the son of Aaron and Carrie Bates Raney, he passed away May 5, 2001 at his home.
Preceded in death by five brothers Troy, Raymond, Joe, Shelby and Glen and sister Alta Shelton; he is survived by his wife Orine of Ennis; four sons and their wives Delbert and Terry Raney, Jimmy and Lois Raney, Winston and Barbara Raney all of Ennis, Ray and Janette Raney of Rice; four daughters Bobbie Cheek of Rice, Darleen Richardson of Ennis, Alice and her husband Roy Lewis, Nelda and her husband Jimmy Lewis all of Ennis; 29 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; brother Grover Raney of Corsicana and three sisters Helen Thornhill of Dallas, Mary Stovall of Georgetown and Ethel Stovall of Dallas.
Pallbearers were Roy Lewis Jr., Jason Raney, Randy Raney, Paul Richardson, Mitchell Raney, Leslie Lewis, Mark Cheek and Jack Cheek. Honorary pallbearers were L.D. Patterson.
Interment followed in the Elm Branch cemetery in Bardwell under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary.

Debi J. Starek
March 30, 1957 – May 8, 2001

ENNIS – Funeral services for Debi J. Starek, 44 of Ennis, were held at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2001 in the Keever Chapel with Rev. Fred Caldwell and Dan Rogers officiating.
Born on March 30, 1957 in Ennis, the daughter of Ramon E. and Patricia E. Braley Starek, she passed away May 8, 2001 at her home.
She is survived by her father and his wife Ramon and Evelyn Starek of Ennis; mother Patricia Eve Starek of Ennis; son Joshua Ray Ryan of Ennis; daughter Natasha Eve Ryan of Ennis; sister and husband Tami and David Carpenter of Ennis; grandchild Austin Ray Ryan; uncle and his wife Clem and Lillie Braley of Duncanville and niece Taran Castillo of Ennis.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary.

Betty Lou Lookingbill

Born on Dec. 3, 1933 in Lannius, the daughter of Cicero M. and Ethel Clara Frazier Gayoso, she passed away May 24, 2001 at Hospice House in Burleson.
Preceded in death by her husband Bill Lookingbill, her parents, brothers Melvin Gayoso, Leon Gayoso, Don Gayoso, Emuel Gayoso, Charles Gayoso, Ray Gayoso and Ben Gayoso; sons and daughters-in-law Johnny and Helen Jernigan of Arlington, Richard and Gisele Jernigan of Ferris and Jerry Jernigan of Houston; and sisters Aurora Cook of Mesquite, Lorene Wilder of Dallas, Fay Jordan of Prattsville, Ala. and Dorothy Roberts of Lampasas.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Green Funeral Home in Ferris.

Winifred (Winnie) Dennehy McKay

FERRIS – Graveside services for Winifred (Winnie) Dennehy McKay, 86 of Ferris, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2001 at Ferris Memorial Park North.
Born on Nov. 20, 1914 in Kaufman County, she passed away May 26, 2001 in Dallas.
She is survived by three sisters Theresa D. Harwood, Agnes Johnson and Rita Bradford all of Dallas; and brother Jack Dennehy of Dallas.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Green Funeral Home in Ferris.
