T.B. “Tip” Riley
Oct. 27, 1923 — March 12, 2006

FERRIS — Services for T.B. “Tip” Riley, 82, a longtime Ferris resident, were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at First United Methodist Church of Ferris, 101 Redbud St.
Born Oct. 27, 1923 in McKinney, he died Sunday, March 12, 2006 at his residence.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ferris.
He served two terms on the Ferris City Council from May 1995 to May 1999. He was Ferris mayor pro-tem May 1996 to May 1997.
He served in World War II.
Following his tour of duty, he returned to his home in Frisco.
He moved his family to Ferris in 1964. He was a member of the Lions Club and Masonic Lodge of Ferris, honored with the Community Builder Award in March 2002.
He was employed as a fleet service clerk with American Airlines. After retiring in 1983, he spent time with family, and woodworking, gardening and traveling.
Preceded in death by his parents, several brothers and sisters, and one grandson, he is survived by his wife Pat; three sons, John Riley of Ferris, Thomas and wife Rhonda Riley of Red Oak, and Ray Riley of College Station; one brother J.C. Riley of Honeygrove; one sister Edith Calverley of Terrell; four grandsons, Michael Riley of Waxahachie, Marcus Riley of Richardson, Matthew Riley of Allen and Clayton Riley of College Station; and one granddaughter Julianne Riley of College Station.
Burial was at Dallas-Fort Worth National cemetery in Dallas.
Donations can be sent in his name to First United Methodist Church, 101 Redbud St., Ferris, TX 75125 or to the church of your choice.
Green Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Harlan Wayne Fails
Dec. 22, 1925 - June 10, 2005

LANCASTER - Funeral services for Harlan Wayne Fails, 80 of Lancaster, were held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, 1006 in Green Funeral Home of Ferris with Father Art Mallinson officiating.
Born Dec. 22, 1925 in Malakoff, the son of Frederick J. and Jenny V. (Prewitt) Fails, he passed away Saturday, June 10, 2006 peacefully whi-le in the co-mpany of family mem-bers in Desoto.
He owned and operated Big D Sand & Gravel.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Marie A. (Faget) Fails of Lancaster; daughters Sherry O’Connor of Lancaster, Jenny Menefee of Ferris and Tina Moore of Midlothian; sons Christian Fails of Boerne, Timothy Fails of Amherst, Va., Michael Fails, Mark Fails both of Hutchins, Daniel Fails of Maypearl and Wayne Fails, Jr. of Chicago, Ill.; brother Bobby Fails of Woodville; half sisters: Carolyn Bishop and Judy LeBlanc both of Houston; half brother Gerald Fails of Pleasant View, Tenn.; 27 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Estelline Oates
May 31, 2006

ENNIS - Funeral services for Estelline Oates, 88 of Ennis, were held 3 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2006 in the First Baptist Church in Palmer with Rev. Gary Miller and Pastor Thom Layfield officiating.
The daughter of Roy and Katie Atkinson of Ferris, she passed away May 31, 2006 at the IOOF Nursing Home in Ennis.
She is survived by two daughters Sue Templer and husband John of Palmer and Shirley Prater and husband Charles of Midlothian; sister Faye Tuck of Palmer; four grandchildren Suzanne Leach of the Woodlands, Linda Lassetter of Palmer, Debbie Head of Ft. Worth and Keith Prater of Alvarado; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services followed in the Jack Oates Memorial Gazebo in the Palmer cemetery under the direction of Green Funeral Home.
Memorials can be made to the Palmer cemetery Association, P.O. Box 191, Palmer, Texas 75152.

Terry Q. Schofield
Dec. 17, 1960 – June 1, 2006

PALMER – Funeral services for Terry Q. Schofield, 45 of Palmer, were held 2 p.m. Monday, June 5, 2006 in the Palmer First Baptist Church with Rev. Thom Layfield officiating.
Born Dec. 17, 1960 in Dallas, the daughter of Bill and Wanetia Allen Barnes, she died June 1, 2006.
Preceded in death by her mother, she is survived by her husband Jim of Palmer; one son and his wife, Brent and Kim Lowry of Dallas; one daughter and her husband, Jeri and E.J. Foley of Elk City, Okla.; her father Bill Barnes of Gilmer; two brothers Jerry Barnes of Gladewater and Gary Barnes of Palmer; three sisters Sherry Freeman of Lon-gview, Keri Haskins of Gilmer and Melinda Barnes of Palmer; two grandchildren Ashley Lowry and Ryan Foley; and brother-in-law Daryl Thomas.
Serving as pallbearers were Keith Haskins, Brent Lowry, Jim Schofield, Daryl Thomas, Joshua Thomas and Mark Freeman.
Interment followed in the Palmer cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

Fleta Elliot Allen
July 6, 1933 - Aug. 8, 2006

WAXAHACHIE - Memorial services for Fleta Elliott Allen, 73 of Waxahachie, were held at 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2006 in the chapel of Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home.
Born July 6, 1933 in Reagor Springs, the daughter of John Oscar and Laura Lee Elliott, she passed away Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006 in Euless. She loved to travel to Colorado and especially cooking and caring for her family.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill in 2005 and sister Lois Ray Stroope; she is survived by her four children Wendy Self and her husband A. D. of Waxahachie, Pam Blackburn and her husband James of Euless, Teresa Cobb and her husband Tommy of Waxahachie and Rusty Allen and his wife Carla of Midlothian; two brothers Coy Lee Elliott and his wife Linda of Avalon and James Oscar Elliott of Waxahachie; sister Ora Bell Stovall of Arlington; seven grandchildren Chris, Justin, Donnie, Tuffy, Fleta Gail, Tessie and Chase; and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie.

Jennifer Lynn Freeze
May 20, 1952 - Aug. 7, 2006

ITALY - Funeral services for Jennifer Lynn Roberts Freeze, 54 of Malone, were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006 in the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin chapel in Italy.
Born May 20, 1952 in Pasadena, Cali., the daughter of Burnett John Bayless Roberts and Clara Christine Smothermon Roberts, she passed away Monday, Aug. 7, 2006 at her home.
Jennifer moved to Italy at an early age and attended Italy schools. On Aug. 23, 1968 she married Roy Freeze at the Central Baptist Church in Italy.
Preceded in death by her father Burnett John Roberts and son Justin Freeze; she is survived by her husband of 37 years Roy Freeze of Malone; children Stacie Mathis and her husband, Byron of Springtown, Jeremy Freeze of Dallas, Eric Hiller and his wife, Cheryl of Mansfield, Shaun Freeze, Courtney Freeze and Mallory Freeze all of Malone; mother Clara Roberts of Italy; one sister Lana Lile of California; six grandchildren and longtime friend Martha Cook.
Interment followed in the Italy cemetery under the direction of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie.

Jeane B. Hanes
July 7, 1922 - Aug. 8, 2006

WAXAHACHIE - Funeral services for Jeane B. Hanes, 84 of Waxahachie, were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2006 in the chael of Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Zimmerman and C.D. Walker officiating.
Born July 7, 1922 in Athens, the daughter of Homer and Martha (Brooks) Burnham, she passed away Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006 at Methodist Dallas Medical Center.
Jeane attended Hillsboro Junior College and Baylor University, going on to pursue a career in advertising in marketing.
She produced the first regular agricultural television show in Central Texas during the 1950s.
Jeane also served as manager of Lake Air Shopping Mall in Waco.
Jeane received many awards for her innovations in advertising and was past president of the Waco Texas Advertising Club.
She later became the advertising manager of Occidental Chemical Company, where she met Gaylord Hanes, the vice president of marketing.
The two married June 17, 1966, in Ardmore, Okla.
After marrying Gaylord, Jeane gave her tremendous energy to volunteering though churches and hospital organizations.
Jeane was a longtime volunteer and board member of the Lady’s Auxiliary at Baylor Medical Center.
She was a member of the Waxahachie Bible Church and the Lou Hahn Sunday school class.
She had also been a longtime Sunday school teacher throughout the years.
For several years Jeane had been the technical marketing guidance to Homes by Hanes.
Jeane is best remembered for her unlimited capacity to love people and love God.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years Gaylord Hanes of Waxahachie; children John Edward Hanes of Stillwater, Okla., Joseph Hanes of Hollywood, Calif., Deborah Aspenleiter and her husband Rick of Santa Barbara, Calif., John Charles Hanes and his wife Mary Ann and Margena Young all of Waxahachie; and sister June Call of Waxahachie.
Interment followed at in the Dallas-Fort Worth National cemetery under the direction of Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie.

Valentin “Valerio” Hernandez
Feb. 14, 1938 – Aug. 10, 2006

ENNIS - Mass of Christian burial services for Valentin “Valerio” Hernandez, 68 of Ennis, were held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006 in St. John Catholic Church.
Born Feb. 14, 1938 in McAllen, the son of Victorino and Consuelo Hernandez, he passed away Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006 in Ennis.
He married Modesta Martinez on July 25, 1980.
He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church.
Preceded in death by his sons Valentin Hernandez Jr. and Gilbert Hernandez; he is survived by his wife Modesta; his children Ana Ponce and her husband Ruben Aguilar, Steve Hernandez and Lucy Hernandez all of Ennis, Beatrice Carson of Athens, Mary Lopez of Ennis and David Hernandez of California; six brothers and sisters; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Interment followed in the St. Joseph cemetery under the direction of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Ennis.
