BELL
Ella Smith Bell, 92, of Palmyra, died January 16, 2002 at her home. She was born December 15, 1909 in Hanover County and was the widow of William Henry Bell Sr. She was also preceded in death by a son, William H. Bell Jr.; six brothers and one sister. Mrs. Bell was a member of Lyles Baptist Church and a retired Palmyra postmistress. She is survived by one son, C. Preston Bell of Palmyra; three daughters, Harriet B. Graves of Kansas City, Kan., Hazel B. Boyer of Manassas and Della B. Nearhood of Amelia; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 19, at the Lyles Baptist Church Cemetery, the Rev. Tom LeVines will officiate. Family will receive friends from 3 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Sheridan Funeral Home, Kents Store. Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of The Piedmont, 1490 Pantops Mountain Place, Charlottesville, Va. 22911 or Lyles Baptist Church Pavilion Fund.

BONNER
Ethel J. Bonner died January 12, 2002. She survived by two nephews, James Smith of Elizabethton, Tenn. and Percy Jones of Columbus, Ohio; other relatives and friends. Graveside rites will be held on Friday at New Bridge Baptist Church Cemetery, 11 a.m. Services by Chiles Funeral Home.

BRINKLEY
Baby Boy Isaac Darryl Lathon Brinkley departed this life January 12, 2002. He is survives by his loving family. Remains may be viewed at Chiles Funeral Home on Friday at 1:30 p.m. followed by graveside rites at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery.

BROWN
Virginia Alene Seagraves Brown, 76, of Richmond, Va., departed this life on January 11, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Bolen Brown Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Judith Gaye Wendell of Richmond, Va.; and her son, John Bolen Brown III of Yuba City, Calif.; four grandchildren, Mrs. Rebecca M. Vesely of Glen Allen, John Bolen Brown IV of Fayetteville, W.Va., Sarah A. Duke of Richmond and Mrs. Samantha J. Castanon of Coal City, W.Va.; and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Hunton Baptist Church in Glen Allen on January 19, 2002 at 2 p.m. Mrs. Brown will be laid to rest in Getheseme Memorial Gardens in Oak Hill, W.Va. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Medical College of Virginia's Palliative Care Unit.

BROWN
William Thomas "Puddin" Brown departed this life January 12, 2002. He is survived by a loving daughter, Mary B. Clark; two grandsons, Michael and Robert Clark Jr.; ten great-grandchildren; one devoted niece, Delores B. Munford; and one devoted nephew, Willie Munford; a host of great-nieces and nephews; a devoted son-in-law, Robert Clark Sr.; other relatives and friends. Remains rest at the Carlton T. Brooks Funeral Home, 2200 Hull St., where visitation will be held Thursday, 7 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, 11 a.m. at the Zion Baptist Church, 20th and Decatur Sts., where remains will lie in state at 10 a.m. Dr. Robert Pettis, pastor, officiating. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Family and friends attending services assemble 10:30 a.m. at the church.

BRUNO
Shemika P. Bruno departed this life suddenly January 13, 2002. Remains rest at the Carlton T. Brooks Funeral Home, 2200 Hull St. Funeral notice later.

CALLAHAN
Elizabeth Sodini Callahan, of Richmond, Va. and formerly of Norfolk, passed away January 15, 2002. She was the widow of Thomas McDonald Callahan. She is survived by her daughter, Terry Callahan Massie; one grandson, A. Clinton Greene III; two granddaughters, Deirdre Greene Hooker and Elizabeth Greene Bargatze; and four great-grandchildren, Thomas, Ross, Ryan and Austin Hooker. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at 602 Levering Lane, Richmond. A memorial service will be held at the Sacred Heart Cathedral at 10 a.m. Friday, January 18. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a favorite charity.

CHRISTIAN
Peggie Ann Christian, 46, passed away Monday, January 14, 2002. Peggie was preceded in death by her mother and two grandsons. She leaves behind her husband, Bill Bohn; father, Charles F. Richards, both of Henrico; two sisters, Betty Richards and Peggy Snyder, both of West Virginia; two daughters, Victoria Bollinger and her husband, Brian of Chesterfield and Jamie Christian of Henrico; two sons, Joseph Christian and Jimmie Christian Jr., both of Henrico; six grandchildren who will cherish her memory and miss her deeply; four special friends, Justin, Mary, Lisa and Jimmie; and a host of family and friends who will also miss her deeply. Her remains rest at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., where the family will receive friends Thursday (today) and where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

COX-BAYNHAM
Jacob Andrew Cox-Baynham, an angel of 3 months, of Mechanicsville, went to live among the angels January 16, 2002. He is survived by his parents, Amanda Cox and Jason Baynham; maternal grandparents, Debbra and Michael Cox; paternal grandparents, Martha and James Baynham; maternal great-grandparents, Beverly and A.G. Tyree and James D. Cox; paternal great-grandmother, Lois Hudson; aunt, Jamie Baynham; and uncles, Brian Baynham, Stephen Baynham and Chris Cox. Remains rest at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, where the family will friends Friday, January 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, January 19 at 4 p.m. at Salem Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Margaret Teresa Parsons "Peggy" Donner, 76, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Bernard Gregory Donner; two sons, Bernard Gregory Donner Jr. and wife, Pamela of Chicago, Ill. and Michael Lorraine Donner and wife, Mary Beth of Alexandria, Va.; her brother, Emmett Lorraine Parsons of California; four grandchildren, Michael, Mark, John and Stephen Donner. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave., where the family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m Friday. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

DUCKWORTH
Mrs. Maxine M. Duckworth, 76, of Kilmarnock, died January 15, 2002. She is survived by her husband, Kenton M. Duckworth; two daughters, Leslie Scott of Chandler, Ariz. and Susan Walls of Falls Church, Va.; two stepsons, Kenton M. Duckworth Jr. of Jeffersonton, Va. and Thomas C. Duckworth of Danville, Ky.; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 19 at 11 a.m. at the Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock, with interment to follow in the Historic Christ Church Cemetery, Irvington, Va. The family will receive friends at the Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock, from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Historic Christ Church, P.O. Box 24, Irvington, Va. 22480 or to the Campbell Memorial Presbyterian Church, Weems, Va. 22576.

FISCHER
Florence Strang Fischer, 84, of Gloucester, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2002. She was a native of Richmond and a member of Ware Episcopal Church, Gloucester. Survived by husband, William F. Fischer; son, John Jordan of King George, Michael Jordan of North; sister, Grace Trayum of Richmond; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. There will be a graveside service held at 11 a.m. in Ware Episcopal Church Cemetery, Gloucester, on Friday, Janaury 18, 2002. Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews will be handling the arrangements.

FORD
Helen Clarke Ford, age 94, of Richmond, died Monday, January 14, 2002 at The Hermitage. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Horace Lee Ford Sr. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Horace Lee Jr. and Barbara F. Ford of Mechanicsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty Anne and Ronald D. Ford of Midlothian; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Milton S. and Herbert E. Clarke, both of Richmond. Remains rest at the Laburnum Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 2110 East Laburnum Ave., where friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at the Broadus Memorial Baptist Church. Interment New Kent Methodist Chapel Cemetery, New Kent, Va. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of the Broadus Memorial Baptist Church, the New Kent Chapel Memorial Association, or your favorite charity.

HALL
Alice Anderson Hall, 74, of Ruther Glen, died Tuesday, January 15, 2002 in Richmond. Survivors include four daughters, Margaret Pavie of Ladysmith; Loraine Pavie, Judy Pavie and Cathy Chenault, all of Ruther Glen; two brothers, Irvin Anderson and Eugene Anderson, both of Beaverdam; three sisters, Ann Blaha of Dinwiddie, Lillian Goodman of Woodford and Shirley Stanley of Fredericksburg; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 18, 2002 at 11 a.m. in Lady Smith Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Gorby and Rev. Rodney Pavie officiating. Burial will follow in County Line Baptist Church Cemetery, Ruther Glen. Visitation will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green.

HAMILL
Kathleen Daly Hamill, 98, of Richmond, Va., died January 2, 2002. Born in County Louth, Ireland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hamill. She is survived by her loving children, Marie Patalkis, Peggy Mahoney, Pat Mirr and Anne DelGaudio. Cherished grandmother of 11, great-grandmother of seven. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 8200 Woodman Rd., Richmond, Va. 23228 for the Eucharistic Ministry.

HICKMAN
Juanita Elizabeth Rohr Hickman, 92, died Monday morning January 14, 2002 in Staunton. She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn H. Bowman and her husband Gilbert, Kathleen (Jimmie) H. Edwards and Penelope Ruth Hickman, all of Richmond. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Lance Bond Bowman and his wife Judy of Fort Wayne, Ind., Derek Scott Bowman and Ashley E. Reed and her husband, Kevin of Richmond; a brother, James R. Rohr and his wife, Peggy of Fishersville; along with many nieces and nephews. A graveside service was held Wednesday, January 16 with Hamrick Funeral Home in Staunton handling arrangements.

HILBORN
Ellis Atwood Hilborn of Sterling, Va. passed away Sunday, January 13, 2002 at Heritage Hall Nursing Center, Leesburg, Va. He was born August 28, 1921 in Sharon, Pa. to the late Ellis A. and Elizabeth Nicholls Hilborn. He is survived by his wife, Virginia V. Hilborn of Sterling, Va.; and daughter, Ellen Hilborn of Centreville, Va. Private services were held at Arlington National Cemetery. Memorials may be made in his name to the charity of choice. Arrangements by Adams- Green Funeral Home, Herndon, Va.
