Howard Earl Albin

Howard Earl Albin, 80, of Richland, WA died Thursday, November 29, 2001, at the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice House in Kennewick, WA. He was born to Earl and Celia (Wycoff) Albin on May 8, 1921, in Norcatur, KS and had lived in the Tri-Cities since 1960.
During World War II, Howard served in the U. S. Army Air Corps in the South Pacific, New Guinea and the Philippines. He flew 50 combat missions as a gunner on a Douglas A20. He was a proud member of the 13th Bomb Squadron (The Grim Reapers).
From 1960 to 1980, Howard was manager of Columbia Oil Service Station. He then worked in the automotive service department at Westinghouse Hanford until retiring in 1989.
He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, the Moose Lodge, Eagles Lodge, Richland Senior Citizens, HAPO retirees, and a life-time member of V.F.W. Cook-Erickson Post 7952.
Howard enjoyed gardening, dancing, travel, Mariner baseball and the Seahawks, but most of all he loved and enjoyed his family.
He is survived by his wife, Marvel Huske-Albin of Richland; two sons, Stephen E. Albin of Richland and Kenny R. Albin of Connell; a daughter, Terrie L. Brown of Benton City; sister, Gladys Glenn of Norton, KS; 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 4 stepsons, 9 step grandchildren and 14 step great grandchildren.
Recitation of the rosary will begin at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2001, at Christ the King Catholic Church followed by a memorial mass at 10:30 a.m. Graveside services will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with full military honors by V.F.W. Cook-Erickson Post 7952.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Christ the King Catholic Church or Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice House.

Florence Louise Tanner
November 28, 1908 - July 31, 2002

Florence Louise (Baalman) Tanner died on July 31, 2002 at Life Care Center in Richland, where she had been a resident since 1999. Before that she lived at Hawthorne Court in Kennewick for four years and at Columbia Edgewater (Alterra) in Richland for three years.
Florence was born November 28, 1908 in Washington, Missouri, the third of six children born to Anton Gerhard Baalman and Elizabeth Mary Haverkamp. She spent her early years in western Kansas, where she was educated, eventually becoming a teacher there in an eight-grade, one-room school.
In 1941 she left Kansas for Denver, Colorado, where she worked for Remington Arms. In 1944 she moved to Rich1and, where she was employed by Dupont at the Hanford Works Project. Her stay in the Tri-Cities then was brief; on August 21, 1947, she married Charles William Tanner in San Francisco, California. They lived in Richmond, California, until his death in 1960.
Florence was employed at the University of California, Berkeley as a secretary-clerk until her retirement in 1971. She remained in Richmond until 1992 when she relocated to Richland to be near relatives.
The last of her immediate family to die, she was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two older brothers, Lawrence Baalman and Clarence Baalman, two younger brothers, Raymond Baa1man, Sr. and Richard Baalman, and her younger sister Hilda Baalman. She leaves her stepdaughter Jeanne Seerley of Littleton, Colorado. Two step grandsons, Jeffery and Joseph Seerley, her sister-in-law, Rose Baalman of Richland, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Florence was a member of Christ the King Parish in Richland In Richmond, she attended St. Paul's Catholic Church, where she belonged to the Ladies Aide Society . She will be missed by her family and care-givers, who were always inspired by her patience, cheerful nature, and ready smile.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Christ the King Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 7, 2002 at 11:00 am.

Raymond William Campbell

Died: August 7, 2002

Raymond Campbell of Richland, Washington died on Wednesday August 7, 2002 at Kadlec Hospital after a long bout with cancer. Ray will always be remembered as a wonderful, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Other than his family, Ray's two greatest loves were fishing, and the Mariners. Ray enjoyed salmon and steel head fishing the most. When it came to the Mariners, Ray didn't care if the game was on T. V. or radio, he just wanted to be tuned in. His favorite players were Edgar and Ichiro.

Ray is survived by his wife; Norma Campbell, daughters; Candy, Patty, Linda, and Marie; sons; Steve, Jim and daughter in law Mary, 23 grandchildren; Jeff, Jodi, Jami, Stephen, Travis, Trevor, Jackie, Tiffany, Michelle, Kim, Joe, Denise, Teresa, Tom, Amber, April, Randy, Cody, Michael, Darren, Todd, Ricky, Misty, and also 12 great-grandkids.

Ray was preceded in death by his daughter Angie Smith, son David Durfee, and grandson Eddie Campbell.

A viewing will be held at Einan's Funeral Home from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday August 11, 2002. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. on Monday August 12, 2002, in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions are being accepted for the Tri-City Cancer Center.

Kenneth G. Hill

Kenneth G. “Ken” Hill, 59, of Richland, WA, died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, in Sunnyside, WA.
Ken was born September 7, 1942, in Hydro, Oklahoma and moved to Yakima, WA in 1945. He was raised and educated in Yakima and graduated from A. C. Davis High School in 1960. He attended Evangel College and Central Bible College in Springfield, MO from 1960 – 1965.
Ken married Karen Tuttle August 21, 1964. Ken began his dream of self-employment in the wholesale and retail clothing business throughout Missouri from 1964 – 1990. In 1990, they moved back to Yakima, WA and Ken worked as Family Service Counselor for West Hills Memorial Park in Yakima; then at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton, WA; again at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland; finally as General Manager at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside, WA. He was a member of Faith Assembly Christian Center, Pasco, WA.
Ken was an avid reader – he loved to go to the library and bookstores, browsing for anything from Christian and inspirational books to sales, financial, autobiographies, and some novels. He also loved baseball and in his youth, played on the high school team. He had the potential to become a professional pitcher.
His most treasured moments were always spent with his family. And as the perfect example of what a husband and father should be, he would sacrifice his own life for them to make sure they were taken care of.
Ken was a behind the scenes server of Christ, and it was evident in many ways, but especially through his compassion for those in need. He enjoyed giving what he could whether through employment in his business, actual monetary help, counseling or just taking a homeless person for a meal.
He was the kindest, most gentle tender-hearted man we will ever have the honor of knowing and loving in this life.
Ken is survived by his wife, Karen Hill; daughters, Kelli Best and husband, Bill, of Findlay, OH, Krysta Barker and husband, Mark, of Pasco, WA; mother, Wilma Hill of Yakima, WA; father, C. L. Hill of Yakima, WA; brother, Gary Hill and wife, Margie, of Yakima, WA; grandchildren, Ashlee Best, Paige Best, and Madison Barker; nieces and nephews, Rick Hill, Richelle Leslie, Zak Hill, Ronda Mills, Russ Tuttle, Michelle Harris, and Jeremy Wardle; mother and father-in-law, Dolores and Carol Tuttle; brother-in-law, Ron Tuttle and wife, Barbara; sister-in-law, Kathy Wardle and husband, Wayne.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Lyde Hill, Benjamin and Naomi, Rowell; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 5, 2002, in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at Einan’s from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 4.
Donations may be made in Ken’s memory to Faith Assembly Christian Center Building Program, 1800 Rd. 72, Pasco, WA 99301.

Opal Cathryn Sanders
September 25, 1919 - August 05, 2002

Opal Cathryn Sanders, 82 of Richland, passed away August 5, 2002 at her home to be with her beloved daughter Marilyn Ruth Snow in Heaven after a long illness.

She was born September 25th, 1919 in Cedar, Missouri to Grand and Nora Perkins Shettlesworth. Opal Married William (Sandy) Sanders on October 13, 1937 in Jefferson City Missouri. She and her family moved to the Tri-Cities in 1948, and she has lived in Richland since 1949.

She was a wife, mother grandmother and great grandmother who has enjoyed camping, fishing and being with her family. For many years she volunteered her services at the Heather House in Richland providing services and care for the elderly. She was an avid bowler for many years on women’s league teams in Richland enjoying the company of her many friends.

Mrs. Sanders is survived by her husband William Sanders of Richland; one child; Gary Sanders of Richland, six grandchildren; Mark Snow of Kent, Darin Snow of Renton, Mike Snow of Everett, Kristen Snow of Orting, Laura Sanders of Richland, and Travis Sanders of Norco, Calif. Three great grandchildren Josh, Hanna and Conner Snow and two brothers; L.T. and Roy Shettlesworth of Columbia Missouri.

Her beloved daughter Marilyn Ruth Snow preceded her in death.

A public visitation will be held on Friday, August 9, 2002 from 9am to 8pm. A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 10, 2002 at Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery in Richland Washington adjacent to Einan's Funeral Home, with Pastor Stanley Hughes of Richland Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Einan's Funeral Home, Richland Washington.

Donations may be made in Opal's name to the Tri-City Union Gospel Mission, 112 N. 2nd, Pasco, WA 99301

Jerome Charles Dunn
February 21, 1931 - August 05, 2002

Jerome (Jerry) Charles Dunn passed away August 5, 2002 at the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice, Kennewick, WA. He was born in Algona, Iowa to George and Bessie Dunn on February 21, 1931.
He attended Christ the King Catholic Church and was a alter boy for Father Sweeney. He graduated from Columbia High School in Richland and went to work for General Electric.
He met his beloved wife, Rose, at B Reactor at Hanford. They were married a year later at Coeur D’Alene, Idaho.
Jerry joined the Army and served in Korea with the Wolfhounds, 27th Infantry Regiment. He obtained the rank of First Sergeant and was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and other various medals. When he came home, he continued on with his job at General Electric. He finished his career with Battelle Northwest Laboratories as a facilities/building manager.
Jerry is survived by his wife Rose and sons Joe Dunn and Mike Dunn and wife Connie; his brother Maynard Dunn; his sisters-in-law Gertie Hubert, Vera Kruger and husband Colin, Juanita Templin and husband Chet; Icel Perkins; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his mother and father; brothers Joe Dunn, Kelsey Dunn and John Dunn; and sisters Mona Hobbs and Marge Christiansen; and his very close and best friend Ray King.
The funeral will be held at 10 AM, Friday, August 9, 2002 at Einan's Funeral Home.

Monroe "Spike" Dreher
April 17, 1918 - July 19, 2002

Monroe “Spike” Dreher, 84, of Richland, died at 2:35 p.m. July 19, 2002, at Alterra Columbia Edgewater. He was born April 17, 1918, in Blytheville, Arkansas and had lived in the Tri-Cities over 50 years.
Spike received his nickname in his high school and college football years because his head was smaller than his helmet. Spike played one year, 1939, at the University of Denver and from 1939 – 1941 for Mississippi State University. One of his favorite proud memories is when he played lineman on the Mississippi State Orange Bowl team in 1941, winning - State 14 to Georgetown 7. In 1992, he attended a reunion of the remaining team members when MSU played the Orange Bowl again. The 1941 team was introduced during the half time.
Spike came with Dupont in 1944 to work at Hanford as a process operator and became a senior quality assurance engineer. He retired from Battelle in 1970 and from WPPSS in 1984. He was a member of Central United Protestant Church.
He enjoyed photography and camping and loved to fish on the Columbia and Snake Rivers.
Spike was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma, in 1985 and by his son, John, in 1998.
He is survived by daughter, Sandy Wierman; grandchildren, Miles F. Wierman, Kimberli R. Dreher and Jeremy E. Dreher; and great grandchildren, Tiana R. Wierman and John P. Dreher.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2002, in Sunset Memorial Gardens. For those who would like to visit with the family, a get together is planned at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the TV room at Alterra with refreshments provided.
Much thanks to the staff at Alterra for their loving, tender care of my dad while he maintained residence there.
