WILLIAM J. WEYKER “Willy”

William “Willy” Weyker age 91 years of 6412 Hwy. B, Town of Belgium died Monday, March 17, 2003 at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan where he had been a patient for the past several days. He was born August 13, 1911 in Port Washington, son of Nicholas and Susan Bley Weyker. On June 6, 1936 he married Loretta Schmitz at St. Nicholas Church, Dacada. She preceded him in death in 1974. On October 7, 1978 he married Hannah Hahn Braun at St. Nicholas Church, Dacada. Willy was a cheesemaker in the Town of Belgium for 20 years and later worked as an assembler at Simplicity Mfg. in Port Washington, retiring in 1976. He was a member of Our Lady Of The Lakes Parish, the Holy Name Society and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He is survived by his wife Hannah, 4 sons Kenneth (Joan) Weyker of Bonita Springs, FL, William Jr. (Mary) Weyker of Fond du Lac, Walter (Laura) Weyker of Town of Fredonia and Gary Weyker of Belgium, 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 4 brothers George of Greendale, Raymond of Greenfield, Clarence, and Joseph of Ripon, 3 sisters Viola Hubing of Belgium, Daisey Korchunoff of Denver, CO and Marie Reimisch of Oak Creek. He was preceded in death by 1 brother Victor and 1 sister Sally. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, March 21, 11:30 am at Our Lady Of The Lakes Parish, St. Nicholas Chapel in Dacada, with Father Richard Cerpich officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the CHURCH Friday after 9 am. A memorial fund has been established in his name for Our Lady Of The Lakes School. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Belgium is assisting the family with arrangements.

GEORGE E. GOSEWEHR

George Gosewehr, age 71 years of 982 Sunset Rd., Port Washington died Friday, November 15, 2002 at his residence. He was born November 5, 1931 in Grafton, son of the late Erwin and Pearl Theil Gosewehr. He served in the Ul.S. Army during the Korean conflict and married Carol Thelen on July 12, 1952 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Port Washington. He retired in 1993 as a supervisor at EST Co. in Grafton after 34 years. When he wasn’t busy enjoying his grandchildren his hobbies included hunting, fishing, boating, golfing, gardening, playing cards, and helping out at his friend’s farm in the Town of Belgium. He is survived by his wife Carol, 3 children Bill (Katherine) Gosewehr of Port Washington, Susan (Michael) Morauski of Cedar Grove and Robert Michael Gosewehr of Random Lake. He was the loving “Pa” to six grandchildren Melanie, Peter, B.J., Caleigh, Jenni and Hunter. He is further survived by 2 great grandchildren Cherokee and Cheyanne and 1 sister Shirley (Don) Burhop of Grafton. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers William and John. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday evening, November 19, 7 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave, Port Washington. Burial with military honors will take place on Wednesday at Union cemetery, Port Washington. Friends may call at the Eernisse Funeral Home Tuesday from 4-7 PM. A memorial fund has been established in his name.

Bonnie J. Bauer

Mrs. Bonnie Bauer age 56 of W4614 County Rd. IW, Waldo, formerly of Port Washington, passed away peacefully January 31, 2003 at her residence after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Port Washington on February 11, 1946, daughter of Beatrice Menzel Karrels and the late Alvin Karrels. She attended school in the Port Washington area, graduating from Port Washington High School in 1964. In 1968 she married Gerd Bauer at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Port Washington. Bonnie spent much of her time raising and caring for her family. Her other passion in life was breeding and raising goats on the family farm, Crista Forestis Farms in Waldo. She was also a member of the American Dairy Goat Association. She is survived by her husband Gerd of Waldo, two sons; Gerd F. Bauer II, of Waldo and Erik Bauer of Milwaukee, her mother Beatrice of the Town of Port Washington, 1 sister Jeannie (Alec) Crawford of Oliver, British Columbia, 1 brother Elgin (Patricia) Karrels of Athelstane, other relatives and friends. Private family services were held at Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington.

MALLORY M. RINN

Mallory Rinn, age 14 years, of 222 Lilac Lane, Belgium, died at Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee on October 11, 2002, as a result of a fog-related automobile accident. Mallory was born in Port Washington on November 6, 1987, daughter of Richard and Laurie Shafer Rinn She was in the Freshman class at Cedar Grove High School, and was involved in many school activities, including soccer, basketball and cross country. As an eighth grader Mallory was on the Student Council, was involved with the choir and had received a Citizenship Award, a top honor for an eighth grader. She also enjoyed archery, going fishing with her father, and was an aspiring writer. One of her family members said she was "the superstar of the family." Mallory is survived by her parents Rick and Laurie, her sister Rebecca, all of Belgium, her grandmother, Rose Shafer of Fox Point, 6 aunts and uncles: Karen (James) Barsch of Corpus Christi, TX, Mike (Tracy) Shafer of the Town of Belgium, Ellen (Lawrence) Teaff of Oostburg, Patricia (Bill) Krueger of Port Washington, James (Ellette Meador) Shafer of Spring Lake, NC, and Ruth Ann (Steve) Prochaska of Port Washington. She is further survived by her cousins: Angie, Ryan, Ashley, Shawn, Adam, Dustin, Chad, Betsy, Jessica, Demetra, Sabrina, Selena and Tabitha, her dearest friends Meghan Demianiuk, Michelle Mentink and Cary Voskuil, her beloved animals, "Snickers" and "Hedwig", other relatives, classmates and many friends. She is preceded in death by 2 grandparents, Edward and Lucille Rinn, and 1 cousin, Jacob Barsch. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2002, 7 PM at the Cedar Grove Middle School Auditorium, 50 W. Union Ave., Cedar Grove. Father James Vojtik will officiate. The family will receive visitors at the auditorium Wednesday from 4PM until the start of the service. Memorial to the family are being suggested. Hannah Marie Cottrell

Mrs. Hannah Marie Cottrell age 83 years of 234 W. Linden Avenue in Saukville passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday February 1, 2003 at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee campus in Mequon. She was born in Melrose, WI on December 15, 1919 daughter of the late Frederick and Elizabeth Smith Huber. On June 27, 1937 she married Reginald Cottrell in Melrose, WI. He preceded her in death in 1986. Mrs. Cottrell spent her days raising and caring for her large family. Once her children were older, she began working for an assembler for Northern Signal in Saukville, and also Enercon Corporation in Grafton. Hannah gave of herself often, being the “designated driver” for her elderly friends in Saukville, driving them to their appointments and errands. She was a member of Open Door Bible Church in Port Washington, a 50 year member of the Order Of The Eastern Star, Port Washington OES 147, member of Landt-Thiel American Legion Auxiliary Post 470 and the Saukville Moose Lodge. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening and antiquing. Hannah was also an excellent cook, and a world champion jellyroll maker. She is survived by 7children; Douglas (Myrna) of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Gordon (Cheryl) of Key Largo, FL Allen (Patricia) of Port Washington, Terry (Vicki), Lyle (Donna) and Neal (Susie) all of Saukville, and Barbara (Charles) Duff of Grafton. She is further survived by 22 Grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and sister-in-law Bernice Huber, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her 3 brothers Warren, Guile, and Ross Huber, and 1 sister Ila Mae Millard. Funeral services for Hannah will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2003 at 10:30 AM at Open Door Bible Church 3420 Hwy. LL, with Pastor Sid Litke officiating. Burial will take place at Union cemetery in Saukville. Friends may call at the Eernisse Funeral Home Wednesday February 5, 2003 from 4-7 PM and again at the church Thursday Feb. 6 from 9:30 until time of services. An Order Of The Eastern Star service will be held at 7 PM on Wednesday February 5th.

Mary Grace Sherer
(nee Chamberlin) BELGIUM, November 20, 2002 age 78 years. Mother of one, mother of all inspired us with faith, hope and love. Beloved wife of Joseph J."Jack" Sherer for 56 years. Loving mother of Maura (Greg) Graf, Susan Mary Sherer, the late John Sherer, Carl James (Mary) Sherer, Gracie Sherer, Shaz (Sue Grandaw) Sherer, Lollie (Marc) Wheeler, Richard Byrne (Jeanne) Sherer and Paul (Lisa) Sherer. Dearest grandmother of John, Jim, Amara and David Graf; Poogie, Maggie, John and Gracie Sherer; Leslie, Cody and Marley Wheeler; Michael and Holden Sherer; and Jack Sherer. Fondest great-grandmother of Riley Sherer and Cloe Jacqueline Graf. Further survived by other relatives and many friends. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday Nov. 23 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 6092 Lake Church Road, Belgium. Visitation at the CHURCH Saturday 9-10:30 AM. Marie L. Walter, age 90 years, formerly of the Fredonia and Hartford area, died peacefully at Heritage Nursing Home in Port Washington Sunday morning, January 12, 2003. Mrs. Walter was born October 5, 1912 in Campbellsport, daughter of John and Catherine Soeller Enfelt. She was united in marriage to Arther Walter on April 12, 1932 sat St. MAtthews Catholic Church in Campbellsport. Mr. Walter preceded her in daeth in February of 1958. Marie worked for many years as a seamstress at WB Place in Hartford. She was a member of Holy Rosary Parish, St. Rose chapel in Fredonia, enjoyed quilting, crocheting and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was an avid sheepshead player and gardener. Marie is survived by her daughter, Dolores (David) Burmesch of Belgium, 10 grandchildren, 20 greatgrandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, 1 son, Joseph Walter, 1 daughter-in-law, Patricia Walter, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

JOSEPHINE N. WARANKA

Mrs. Josephine Waranka, age 72 years, of 215 E. Beutel Rd. Port Washington, WI, died early Wednesday morning October 9, 2002 at St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee in Mequon. She was born in Milwaukee on December 16, 1929 daughter of the late Andrew and Grace Mazza Cicerello. On July 3, 1950 she married Joseph Waranka at St. Gall’s Catholic Church in Milwaukee. Mrs. Waranka worked as a quality control inspector for Crown Cork and Seal (formerly Continental Can Co.) She had been an employee there for 33 years. She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington. She also enjoyed cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 52 years Joseph of Port Washington, children Joseph Waranka, Grace (Thomas) Hernandez, Carol Ann Michaels and Nicholas (Sharon) Waranka all of Port Washington. She is further survived by 6 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, 2 sisters Caroline (Clifford) Pacocha of Waukesha, Marie (Al) Bazon of Milwaukee, 1 brother Charles (Mary) Cicerello of Milwaukee, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded into death by her parents and 1 brother Carl. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday October 12, 2002 10 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington, with Father Allan Sommer officiating. Entombment will be in Holy Cross cemetery in Milwaukee. Visitation will be at the Eernisse Funeral Home on Friday October 11, 2002 4-8 PM and Saturday Oct. 12, 9-10 AM at St. Mary’s Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family appreciated.

ROBERT E. DEYOUNG, Jr.

Mr. Robert DeYoung, age 44 years, of 1039 West Port Drive, Port Washington, WI, died Thursday afternoon, October 3, 2002 at St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee in Mequon, WI. He was born February 5, 1958 in Chicago, IL, son of Robert and Judith Foy DeYoung. He married Joi Dawson on April 26, 1983 in Dyer, IN. Bob was a sound engineer and ran his own business, Inner Ear Sounds. Music, his family and his many friends were the most important things in his life. He is survived by his wife, Joi, of Port Washington, WI, their children, Robert III and Edward, both of Port Washington, his mother, Judith DeYoung, of Dyer, 3 brothers, Michael (Cathie) DeYoung of Chicago, Jeff and Bruce DeYoung, both of Dyer, his mother-in-law, Jane Dawson, of Park Forest, IL, 3 sisters-in-law, Patti (John) Vahary of Battle Creek, MI, Vicki (Bill) Pierce of Steger, IL, and Donna (Bill) VanDyke of Park Forest, IL. Bob is further survived by 1 aunt, Louise Hegyi, 1 uncle, Jim (Dean) DeYoung, both of Schererville, IN, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many, many friends. A Gathering of Remembrance will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2002 from 4-8PM at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington, WI. Burial will be in Holden East cemetery, Port Washington. Charles Smith

Charles D. Smith of Fredonia passed away unexpectedly Friday afternoon, December 13, 2002 at Columbia, St. Mary's, Milwaukee Campus in Milwaukee. He was 69 years old. Chuck was born on March 7, 1933 in Edgerton, son of Charles E. and Naomi Croft Smith. He entered the US Army in 1953 and was discharged in 1955. Charles was united in Holy Matrimony to Jean Pantle on June 20, 1959 in Highland Park, IL. Chuck worked for Ozaukee County as the Superintendent of Parks, helping to design and build the Hawthorne Hills Golf Course. After that, he took his family to Pelican Lake to open a restaurant. Upon their return to the area, he worked at Organic Compost in Germantown until a fire delayed operation of the business.

Mr. Smith enjoyed many hobbies while he was still physically active. Among his favorites were hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, gardening and taking care of his yard. He was a devoted father and grandfather, and was a member of Portview Christian Center.

Chuck will be missed by those he leaves behind. He is survived by his loving wife Jean of Fredonia, their sons Jack (Dixie) of Antigo, Allan (Tracy) Silba of Grafton, Daniel (Vickie) of Fredonia, David of Kenosha and Michael (Liz) of Cedarburg, 14 grandchildren, 1 sister, Ruth (Howie) Pantle of Fredonia, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Kenneth Weishaar

Kenneth Weishaar, age 58, of Saukville died November 5, 2002. He is survived by his loving wife, Susann (nee Jarmuz) of Saukville, their 3 children: Christopher of Jackson, William of Grafton and Michelle Weishaar of Saukville, a brother, Kerry (Josie) Weishaar of Menomonee Falls, a sister Karen Cannastra of Kewaskum, and a sister-in-law Mary Ann Steep of Argyle. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. Mr. Weishaar was a member of F&AM; Ozaukee Lodge #17, Yorke Rite Bodies, Scottish Rite of Milwaukee, the Wisconsin Commandery and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He enjoyed camping and working on cars, was a history buff and a wonderful handyman whose favorite saying was, "Ah, that ain't gonna hurt anything!" Masonic Rites will be held Friday, November 8th, 7PM at the Funeral Home.

Lawrence P. Schanen

Lawrence P. Schanen, age 85 years of Port Washington, died December 30, 2002 of pneumonia at the Zablocki Regional Medical Center in Milwaukee.
He was born in Port Washington March 13, 1917, son of the late Dominic and Elizabeth Thoma Schanen.
He was united in marriage to Agnes Staszak on June 27, 1959 in Black River Falls at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
He worked as a machinist at the Quick Mix Company for 37 years, now known at Trak International. He served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Gesang Verein Bavaria and the Luxembourg Society of Wisconsin.
Lawrence enjoyed life, filling it with many activities throughout the years- he loved hunting, especially deer, pheasants and rabbits, he and his wife enjoyed fishing, especially in Canada on fly-in-lakes. He also was an avid motorcycle rider and made a trip to Seattle and 2 to California, he and his wife enjoyed traveling and made trips to most of the states in the US, including Alaska, the Arctic Circle, Nome and Kotzebue (areas of the Arctic Circle), many countries in Europe plus Kenya and Egypt, and reading was the love of his life.
He is survived by his wife Agnes of Port Washington, 2 nephews Donald McNamara of Chicago and Denis (Judy) McNamara of Decatur, IL and many cousins. He was preceded into death by his parents and 1 sister Loraine McNamara and 1 brother Herbert Schanen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on January 3, 2003 7 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington, with Father Allan Sommer Officiating. Burial Will Be in St. Mary's Mausoleum. Visitation at the Eernisse Funeral Home Friday from 4-6:30 PM. Memorials suggested to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

JOHN A. WASSINK

"It's not a choice of where or when. I know someday we'll meet again. God chose the time for us to part, but you'll be with us in our hearts."
John Wassink, age 76 years, of 301 Osius Street., Adell, passed away the evening of September 26, 2002 at his residence. He was born February 7, 1926 in Adell, son of John Sr. and Alice Neerhof Wassink. He served in the US Navy as a Ships Cook during World War II and was stationed in the South Pacific on the USS LST 900. On December 25, 1946, he married Ruth Penn in Gibbsville, WI. He was a member of Hingham Reformed Church, active with the Adell Senior Center and the dartball leauge. He coached girls softball in the area for many years and was a former member of the American Legion.
Mr. Wassink was with the Sheboygan County Highway Dept. for many years, retiring as a District Supervisor in 1987. John is survived by Ruth of Rocky Knoll, their daughters Linda Orth (special friend Michael Scholler) of Adell, Jean (Dennis) Klein of Belgium, Carol (Joseph) Takacs of West Bend and Patricia Faber of Adell. He is further survived by 6 grandchildren: Anjanette, David, Michelle, Jason, Megan and Alesia, 2 greatgrandchildren: Brianna and John, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by 2 sisters, Marjorie Van Tatenhove and Elvira Wassink, and 1 brother, Gilbert Wassink. Services will be held Monday, Sept. 30, 1:30 PM at Hingham Reformed Church, W4390 Church Road, Hingham. Pastors Steve Bakker and David Kingma will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive visitors at church Monday from 11AM until the start of the service. The family suggests memorials to the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Eernisse Funeral Home, Belgium is assisting the family.

LEO R. NEVALA, Ph.D

Dr. Leo Nevala, age 76 years of N219 Claervue Shores, Town of Holland, died Tuesday evening, Sept. 10, 2002 at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. He was born February 22, 1926 in Ironwood, MI, son of Alfred and Iida Laituri Nevala. He married Ivy Koskell on October 20, 1951 in Ironwood, MI. Leo received his Doctrate in Educational Policy Studies from UW-Milwaukee and was the Educational Coordinator for Gateway Technical College in Racine. He was a member of the Friends of Harrington Beach, the Finnish-American Soc. Of America, the Salolampi Foundation, Bat Conservation International and was active in the Bluebird Restoration Soc. of America. He is survived by his wife, Ivy, of Cedar Grove, 1 brother, Donald (Elsie) Nevala of Ironwood, MI, 1 brother-in-law, William (Sue) Mattson of Hurley, WI, 3 sister-in-law, Doris Penzich of Cedar Grove, Donna (Ron) Zuehl of Logansport, IN and Susanne (Dave) Enquist of Belleview, MI, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service is being planned for a later date. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Belgium, is assisting the family with arrangements.

James M. Kaeding

James Kaeding age 58 years of 241 East James Drive Port Washington, WI, passed away October 10, 2002 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. James was born in Fairbury, IL, May 6, 1944, son of the late Henry Emil Kaeding and Ferne Diercouff-Fuoss. On March 9, 1968 he married Kathy A. Crawford in Roberts, IL. Jim worked at a manager at the Jones Island packaging Plant for Milwaukee Bulk Terminals for over ten years. His hobbies included woodworking and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Jim was also a member of the National Harley Owner’s Group (H.O.G.). He is survive by his wife Kathy of Port Washington, two sons James M. Kaeding of Milwaukee, WI and Jon M. Kaeding of Port Washington, WI 6 brothers and sisters Mervyn H. (Marianna) Kaeding of Piper City, IL, Jon W. (Ruddieann) Kaeding of Onarga, IL, Dennis L. (Mary) Kaeding of Onarga, IL, Cheryl (Ronald) Best of Sarasota, FL, David P. (Margaret) Fuoss of Thawville, IL and Rebecca L. (Eric) Warlow of Thawville, IL. He is further survived by sister-in-law Betsy Kaeding of Thawville, IL, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He is preceded into death by his Henry and Ferne, his stepfather Franklin Fuoss, and 1 brother Donald L. Kaeding. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 14, 2002 at 10:30 AM at the Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W. Grand Ave. Port Washington, WI, with the Rev. Mark Voll officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s cemetery Port Washington. Visitation at the Funeral Home Sunday October 13, 2002 4-8 PM and Monday October 14, 2002 9:30-10:30 AM. Christine Ann Brown

Ms. Christine Brown age 50 years of 208 S. Eva Street Port Washington, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2002 at her residence. She was born January 9, 1952 in Madison, WI daughter of the late Elmer and Lorett Heydenburg Brown. On August 9, 1986 she married Jay Jansen in Fort Atkinson, WI. Chris has worked as a program director at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for the last 2 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington, also enjoyed gardening, reading, canning and collecting antiques. She is survived by her husband Jay Jansen of Port Washington, 2 brothers Stephen (Jeanine) Brown of Chicago, Il and Kevin (June) Brown of Winnipeg, Manitoba and one sister Denise Brown of Cedarburg. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday November 2, 2002 at 1:30 Pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington. Father Allan Sommer will officiate. Burial in St. Mary’s cemetery. Visitation will take place at the church from noon until time of services. Memorials suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Roma Hall

Roma Hall, age 93, of Harbor Village in Port Washington, formerly of Chicago, died at her residence on Wednesday, March 5, 2003. Roma was born October 13, 1909 in Chicago, IL, daughter of Ralph and Gertrude Bilger Moyer. She lived a busy life and enjoyed many pursuits including being a member of the Windy City Harmonica Club, playing the piano, enjoyed ballroom dancing and learning to speak different foreign languages. She is survived by her 2 sons, Edward (Dee) Croke of Belgium and Kevin (Harriet) Croke of Evanston, IL, 7 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Victoria, Jennifer, Patrick, Michael, Joseph and Timothy, and her beloved friend Agnes Herrold of Harbor Club. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends both locally and in Chicago. She is preceded in death by 2 husbands, Edward Croke and Julian Hall, her daughter Nancy and 1 brother, Elmo Moyer. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, March 15, 2003, 1:30 PM at the Harbor Village Community Room, 333 W. Walters Street, Port Washington. A gathering will take place before the services, from 12:30-1:30 PM, in the Community room, for the family to greet visitors. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Harbor Campus. Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington, is assisting the family.
