Richard J. Watry “Dick”

Mr. Richard Watry age 75 of Belgium, went home to the Lord Sunday evening, April 27, 2003, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 19, 1927 to Jac and Margaret Lesch Watry at their home in Dacada. Richard married Kathryn Goschey on May 22, 1948 in Holy Cross, and the couple made their home in Belgium. Together, Richard and Kathryn had seven children and a wonderful marriage which ended with Kathryn’s death on October 20, 1987.

Richard was a carpenter, who owned and operated D.W. Construction until he retired. He was a WWII Army veteran, and a member of American Legion Post 412 of Belgium and VFW Post 5373. Richard was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lake Church for over 50 years.

Richard found love again and married Dorie Croatt on August 7, 1992. They started their life together and resided in Belgium, where together they enjoyed their 11 children, 28 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Richard is survived by his wife Dorie, son Robert (Jane) Watry, grandchildren Tech Sgt. Stephan (Crystal) Watry, Capt. Michelle Watry, Jennifer Watry and 2nd Lt. Kevin Watry; daughter Diane (John) Ruschak, grandchildren Brian (Amy) Ruschak and Pamela (Brandon) Chevillet, great-grandchildren Harrison, Grant and Madison Ruschak; son David (Karen) Watry, grandchildren Scott (Emily) Watry, Jill (John) Kastner, Michael (Elizabeth) Watry, and Joy Watry, great-grandchildren Julia Kastner, Caldin and Kaycey Watry; daughter Debora (Al) Martinez, grandchildren Mark (Kari) Martinez, Paul Martinez and Dawn Martinez; son Wayne’s wife Karen Watry, grandchildren Kyle, Lyndsey, Lauren and Sarah Watry; daughter Joyce (Randal) Dieck, grandchildren Kathryn and James Dieck, and daughter Lisa Watry.

Richard is further survived by his step family; son Jeffrey (Cathy) Croatt, grandchildren Andy, Ben, and Megan Croatt; daughter Judy (Guy) Theune, grandchildren Kurt, Rachel, and Eric Theune; daughter Sandy (Dave) Pfeiffer; and son Tom (Kaye) Croatt, grandchildren Jason and Amy Croatt.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents Jake and Margaret Watry, his beloved wife Kathryn, son Wayne, and siblings Agnes Egerer, Gene and Ralph Watry.

A Mass Of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday April 30, 2003 7:30 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake Church, with Father Jim Vojtik and Father Jim Ernster concelebrating. Burial will be in the Parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Eernisse Funeral Home 171 N. Royal Ave. Belgium on Wednesday April 30 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to VNA Hospice.

Margaret Schreiner

Margaret J. Schreiner was known for her lengthy walks around Port Washington and for her friendly greetings to everyone she met. She would often walk to the lakefront where she took great pleasure in watching the waves on the lake.

She died on April 20, Easter Sunday at the age of 88 years. For the past seven months, she resided at Heritage Nursing Home in Port Washington. She formerly lived at 225 Tower Drive in Port Washington for many years.

She was born on September 17, 1914 in Grafton, daughter of John and Anna Fuenger Meunier. After meeting Charles Schreiner on a blind date in 1935, the coup[le married on May 6, 1939 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grafton. They resided in Port Washington. Even more than walking, Marge enjoyed gardening, spending hours tending her garden flowers and yard.

Marge was a member of St. Mary’s Christian Women he Port Washington Senior Center.

She is survived by her daughter Elaine (Gerald) Schmidt of Port Washington, son David (Lesleigh Luttrell) Schreiner of Madison, 3 grandchildren Christine Kreif, Joseph Schmidt and Steven Schmidt, 2 great grandchildren, her brother Joseph (Florence) Meunier of Grafton, numerous nieces and nephews, 3 sisters in law Germaine Meyer, Rose Meunier and Viola Schreiner, and 1 brother in law George Schreiner. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles in 1981, 4 brothers Art, Jules, Pete and Jack Meunier and 2 sisters Theresa Mohrhusen and Mary Meunier.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Apri8l 26, 12 noon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Port Washington with Father Al Sommer officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the CHURCH Saturday after 10:30 am. The Christian Women of St. Mary’s will have a rosary service at the church at 10:30 am. A memorial fund has been established in her name for St. Mary’s Organ Fund.

Florence Greisch

Mrs. Florence Greisch, age 90, of 425 N. Powers St., Port Washington, died Thursday evening, April 17, 2003, at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital, Ozaukee Campus in Mequon, where she had been a patient for the past several days.

She was born April 23, 1912, in Cedarburg, daughter of Herman and Martha Fischer Moegenburg.

On June 24, 1930, she married Math Greisch at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington. In 1945, the couple started Greisch Plumbing and Heating out of their home in Port Washington. Mrs. Greisch served as the secretary for the business until 1990. The business is presently being operated by two grandsons. Her husband preceded her in death in 1979.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington and the Christian Women.

Survivors include four children, James (Jennie) Greisch, Thomas (Mary) Greisch, William (Lois) Greisch and Carol (Don) Peiffer, all of Port Washington; 17 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, one grandson, two great-grandchildren and two brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 22, 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Port Washington, preceded by family rites at 7 p.m. at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4 until 7 p.m.

A memorial fund has been established in her name for St. Mary’s Organ Fund.

Elaine F. “Ma” Hubing

Elaine F. “Ma” Hubing, of Dacada, passed away Friday, April 25, 2003, at her residence after a short battle with cancer.

She was born Oct. 1, 1936, in the Town of Wilson, daughter of Gertrude Buchholz DePagter and the late Harvey DePagter.

On May 4, 1957, she married John “Junior” Hubing at St. George’s Catholic Church in Six Corners, Wis. The couple farmed in Belgium until moving to Dacada in October of 1966. Junior preceded her in death in 1987.

“Ma” was employed at Simplicity Manufacturing in Port Washington as a final assembler, and was a member of Local 1430 IAM for the past 31 years. She also served as a trustee on Ozaukee Trades and Labor Council. Mrs. Hubing was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, the Christian Women and the American Legion Auxiliary Belgium Post 412.

Elaine loved playing the Wisconsin lottery, scratch off tickets, sheepshead and bingo. She truly enjoyed going to work, where she made many friends over the years.

She is survived by eight children, Diane Hubing of Elkhart Lake, Donna (Thomas) Birenbaum of Fredonia, Debra (Daniel) Cavanaugh of Random Lake, Doris (Robert) Mayer of Random Lake, Darlene (Mark) Griffin of Random Lake, Dale Hubing of Dacada, Duane (Kimberly) of Cottage Grove, and David Hubing of Dacada; her mother, Gertrude DePagter of the Town of Wilson; 10 grandchildren, Amy and Scott Cavanaugh, Nicole and Mark Griffin, Jodi and Ryan Birenbaum and Nicholas, Amber, Holly and Hannah Hubing; and three brothers, Richard DePagter of Bradenton, Fla., Daniel DePagter and Gerald DePagter of Sheboygan Falls. She is further survived by her in-laws, Gertrude Fieber of Port Washington, Norbert (Esther) Hubing of Tucson, Ariz., Donald (Harriet) Hubing of Random Lake, Genrose (Alex) Brabender of Tucson, Robert (Lucille) Hubing of Random Lake, Melvin (Sandra) Hubing of Belgium, Gerald (Arlene) Hubing of Belgium, Kathleen Bares of Belgium, Eleanor Hubing of Fredonia, Mary (Gene) Bares of Holy Cross; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her father and two brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Richard Cerpich at 8 p.m. on Monday, April 28, at Our Lady of the Lake Parish St. Nicholas Chapel Dacada. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will take place on Monday from 3 until 7:30 p.m. at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 171 N. Royal Avenue, Belgium.

CHARLES B. MARTENS

Charles Martens, age 71 years of 1890 Woodview Circle, Port Washington, formerly of Grafton died Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at his residence. He was born June 10, 1931 in Milwaukee, son of the late Arnold and Elizabeth Bodenbach Martens. On October 29, 1955 he married Shirley Brunson at Holy Family Catholic Church in Whitefish Bay. In June of 1990 Mr. Martens retired as a loan specialist from the Small Business Administration after 14 years. Prior to his association with the SBA he worked in the banking industry as a loan officer for 17 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Grafton since 1968. Survivors include his wife Shirley, 1 daughter Kathleen (Jeffrey) MacDonald of Saukville, 1 son Paul (Lori) Martens of Grafton, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 1 sister Elizabeth (Walter) Bradsky of Rapid City, SD. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, April 21, 7 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Grafton. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the CHURCH Monday after 4 pm. Memorials to St. Joseph Parish or Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Ozaukee County appreciated.

CLARENCE A. FIEDLER

Clarence Fiedler, age 89 years of 143 Summit St., Wild Rose, formerly of Grafton died Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at Appleton Medical Center where he had been a patient for the past several days. He was born October 8, 1913 in Athens, WI, son of Carl and Ella Hardt Fiedler. On December 4, 1937 he married Ruth Eernisse in Cedarburg. Mr. Fiedler served in the US Army during World War II and worked in quality control at Tecumseh Products Co. in Grafton, retiring in 1976 after 17 ˝ years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wild Rose and Rose-Harms Post #355 American Legion in Grafton. He is survived by his wife Ruth, 2 daughters Beverly “Betsy” ( John) Quiggle of Grafton and Barbara (Ronald) Loos of Rubicon, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Esther Kautzer of Wausau and Adeline (Louis) Scheer of Oshkosh. He was preceded in death by 1 grandson, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 19, 2 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Grafton with Rev. Fred Mueller and Rev. John Suelflow officiating. Burial will be in Zur Ruhe cemetery, Cedarburg. Visitation at the CHURCH Saturday after 12 noon. Memorials to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wild Rose or St. Paul Lutheran Church, Grafton or charity of choice appreciated.

ROBERT L. SCHOLTUS

Robert Scholtus, age 64 years of 2436 Deerfield Court, Saukville, died Saturday, March 15, 2003 at. St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee where he had been a patient for the last several weeks. He was born April 8, 1938 in Newberry, MI, son of Mary Pelletier Scholtus and the late John K. Scholtus. Mr. Scholtus served in the US Air Force and retired as product manager from the P.D. George Co. in St. Louis, MO. On August 26, 1961 he married Sandra Pariseau at St. Benedict’s Church, Highland Park, MI. He was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Cedarburg, WI. He is survived by his wife Sandra, 2 sons, Michael (Michelle) Scholtus of Mequon and Christopher (Jane) Scholtus of Milwaukee, 3 grandchildren, Connor, Brice and Callahan, and his mother Mary Scholtus of Newberry, MI. He is the brother of Jack (Louise) Scholtus of Traverse City, MI, Judy (Richard) Freed of Lansing, MI, David Scholtus of Lansing, MI, Ronald (S=Deborah) Scholtus of Fort Wayne, IN, Patricia Scholtus and Paul Scholtus of Newberry, MI, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 22, 11 AM at St. Gregory Catholic Church in Newberry, MI. Burial will be in Forest Home cemetery, Newberry. Friends may call at the Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry Saturday from 9-11 AM. A memorial fund has been established in his name.

HARVEY C. LEDERHAUSE

Mr. Harvey Lederhause, of 959 Fredonia Ave., Fredonia, WI, formerly of Peshtigo and Milwaukee, passed away early Tuesday morning, March 18, 2003 at Columbia-St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee Campus in Mequon. Harvey was born in Milwaukee on October 7, 1924, son of Carl and Enni Kubali Lederhause. He was united in marriage with Anna Marie “Dollie” Molter in Milwaukee on January 31, 1948. Carl was a Tool and Die maker with Evinrude until he retired, then moved to the Peshtigo area. He was a member of the Steelworkers Union, Local 695, and the International Order of Elk. He enjoyed hunting and sugaring in the springtime. Mr. Lederhause is survived by his wife, Dollie, of Fredonia and 1 daughter, Jackie (Al) Raasch of Waubeka. He is the brother-in-law of Bernie Meek of Crivitz, Sue (Rich) Kempka of Peshtigo, Bill (Sandy) Molter of Milwaukee, Jim Molter of Lena, Therese Molter of Milwaukee, and Agnes Molter of Marinette, WI. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by 1 brother, Erv Lederhause.
Funeral services will be held Thursday evening, 7:30 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., in Port Washington. Rev. Mark Voll will officiate. Visitation will be held Thursday at the Funeral Home from 4-7:30 PM and again Friday at Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield, from 10-10:30 AM before entombment. Memorials are suggested to the Diabetes Foundation.

Karen Lucas

Ms. Karen A. Lucas, age 63 years, of 628 Hillcrest Road, Saukville, died at Columbia-St. Mary’s Campus in Mequon on Monday morning, March 10, 2003. She was born January 7, 1940, in Sheboygan to Clifford and June Selee Learned. Karen worked for Wisconsin Electric for more than 40 years, starting out as a secretary, then working in the tool and the service center.
Ms. Lucas is a 1958 graduate of Port Washington High school, a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 2150 and St. Peter’s United Church of Christ where she was Captain of the prayer chain and a member of the Women’s Circle. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, crocheting, sewing, junkets to Las Vegas and area casinos with her friends and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their events.
Ms. Lucas is survived by her daughter Carla (William) Karrels of Grafton, her grandchildren, Jason and Jamie Karrels, also of Grafton, 4 brothers, Ray (Lolly) Learned of Fredonia, Frederick “Fritz” (Kathy) Learned of Port Washington, John (Barbara) Learned and Michael (Barbara) Learned, both of Saukville, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by 1 grandchild, her parents and her step-mother, Joyce Learned.
The Funeral will be Thursday, March 13, 7PM from the Eernisse Funeral Home going to St. Peter’s UCC, 150 N. Dries St., Saukville for services at 7:30 PM. Interment will be at Union cemetery, Saukville. Visitation will be Thursday, March 13, from 4-7 PM at the Funeral Home. Eernisse Funeral Home in Port Washington is assisting the family.
