CARPENDALE, W.Va. - P. Leroy "Lee" Cover, 69, of Carpendale, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born Nov. 26, 1930, in Cumberland, he was the son of Luveda (Boggs) Erickson, of Cumberland, and the late Stanley Cover.
Mr. Cover was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He was a clerk for the Western Maryland Railroad, Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, and CSX Transportation, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953, a graduate of Fort Hill High School, Class of 1949, and a Protestant by faith.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife of 39 years, Barbara V. (Rowe) Cover; one son, Cary and wife Kelly, Elkton, Md.; two grandchildren, Jordan and Alexa Cover, both of Elkton; and very special friends, Gene and Grace Mason.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Harry Burchell officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Annunciation Catholic Church Building Fund.
HUGH V. CALHOUN
PETERSBURG, W.Va. - Hugh V. Calhoun, 89, of Petersburg, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at the Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg.
Born May 5, 1910, in Mozer, W.Va., he was the son of the late William Cecil and Emma S. (Graham) Calhoun.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Delphia M. (Yokum) Calhoun, on May 11, 1993; one son, Larry Calhoun; two brothers, William "Bill" Calhoun, and Charles R. Calhoun; five sisters, Minnie Kimble, Nora Arbogast, Gladys Heavener, Annie Leach, and Jessie Harman.
Mr. Calhoun was a member of the Gordon Chapel United Methodist Church in Landes where he served as trustee.
He was a life-time farmer, was a construction worker and a foreman for the WV State Department of Highways in Grant County.
He resided at the Grant County Nursing Home since January 27, 1995.
Surviving are three sons, Dwight Calhoun, of Petersburg, W.Va., Ralph Calhoun, of Petersburg, W.Va., and Jimmy Calhoun, of Hurricane, W.Va.; one sister, Leona Schell, of E.A. Hawse Continuous Care Center, Baker, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, on Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be at the funeral home, on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Gary Phillips and the Rev. John Wildman, officiating.
Burial will be in the Lahmansville cemetery, Lahmansville, W.Va.
