NORMA E. DAVIS (SMITH)
ROMNEY, W.Va. - Norma Elizabeth (Smith) Davis, 76, of Romney, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born Jan. 28, 1923, in Hampshire County, she was the daughter of the late Wesley Talmadge and Iva Agnes (Rogers) Smith. She also was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Davis; one brother, Roger T. Smith; and one sister, Kathleen S. Chaconas.
Mrs. Davis was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Romney.
Surviving are one daughter, Karen E. Osentoski, Kearneysville, W.Va.; two grandsons, Joseph W. Lee, Lawrenceburg, Ky., and John A. Lee, Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the Baldwin Funeral Home, Romney, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A service will be conducted in the funeral home chapel, Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Calvin McCutcheon officiating.
Pallbearers will be Richard Hamblin, Gavin Hare, Don Biller, Dallas Adams, F.J. Grady and Charles Mason.
DORA E. GAPP
MOOREFIELD, W.Va. - Dora E. Gapp, age 85, of Jackson Avenue, Moorefield, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at the Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Va.
Born July 27, 1913, in Pendleton County, she was a daughter of the late J. Branson and Bessie (Reel) Watts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew F. Gapp, in November 1978. Six brothers; and three sisters also preceded her in death.
She was a retired cook for Hardy County Board of Education, and was a member of the Epiphany Catholic Church.
Surviving her are two sons, Matthew E. Gapp and C. Steve Gapp, Moorefield; one daughter, Patsy D. Hudson, Williamsport, Md.; two brothers, Minor Watts and Jay B. Watts, Augusta; two sisters, Fern Rohrbaugh, Fairfax, Va., and Violet Barlow, Atlanta, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 13, 1999, at the Epiphany Catholic Church near Moorefield with Father Jim Creeden officiating.
Burial will follow at the Olivet cemetery in Moorefield.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Friday at the Fraley Funeral Home in Moorefield. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the charity of one's choice.
JUSTIN D. GOUGH
SHORT GAP, W.Va. - Justin David Gough, 21, of Short Gap, W.Va., died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born on July 28, 1978, in Pittsburg, Pa., he was the son of Ernest Quentin and Carolyn Joye (Ludwick) Gough. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Everett and Juanita Ludwick, and his paternal grandparents, Claude and Cordie Gough.
Mr. Gough had attended Potomac State College. He was employed at County Market, LaVale, and was a member of New Day Baptist Church, Fort Ashby.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brothers and sisters, Jeffrey Allen Gough, Roanoke, Va., Beth Ann Franklin, Oxford, Pa., Jarrod Bryant Gough and Jason Kent Gough, both of Springfield, W.Va., and Sherry Ann Gough, at home; eight nieces and nephews, Jasmine, Hannah, and Kara Franklin, Barbie and Cortney Gough, and Christopher, Benjamin, and Phillip Gough; and a special friend, Deena Beeman.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc., Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. at the New Day Baptist Church, with Rev. C. Douglas Pickrel and the Rev. Merdith C. Shryock, officiating.

EDWARD DASKAL
KEYSER, W.Va. - Edward Daskal, 87, of 581 Chestnut St., Keyser, died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born Nov. 1, 1911, in Lonaconing, Md., he was a son of the late Demetrius Daskalakis of Calamata, Greece, and Yunula (Skeados) Daskalakis of Sparta, Greece. He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Gus, Thomas and Alek Daskal.
Mr. Daskal had been the owner and operator of the Keyser Candy Co., retiring after 33 years. He was Greek Orthodox by faith.
Mr. Daskal was a former member of the Keyser Kiwanis Club, was the founder of the Mineral County Toys for Tots program, and was named the Keyser Citizen of the Year in 1959. He served as a Keyser City Councilman in the early 1960s and was known throughout the community as "Mr. Peanut"and "The Candy Man"and for his column "Over the Back-Yard Fence"which appeared in the Mineral Daily News-Tribune.
Surviving are his wife, Marie (Brandi) Daskal; two sons, James A. Daskal and wife Marianna, Augusta, Ga., and John E. Daskal and wife Susan, LaVale, Md.; one daughter, Jenny L. Kerns and husband Wayne, Keyser; 10 grandchildren, Lisa Voorhies, Edward Daskal, Susanne Daskal, Angela Daskal, Donald Jones II, Maria Bechdel, Jennifer Thomas, Erin Meerzaman, Christa Daskal and Nikki Daskal; four great-grandchildren, Kristen, Kent, Sara Kate and Alexa; five step-grandchildren; and 13 step-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with Father Ivan M. Lebar, T.O.R., as celebrant.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
A Rosary/Prayer Service will be recited on Thursday at 6:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
ELEANOR I. FOLEY
GREEN SPRING, W.Va. - Eleanor Irene Foley, 77, of Green Spring, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born Sept. 16, 1922, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Nora B. (Iser) Lambert. She also was preceded in death by her first husband, John F. Keefer, and her second husband, Carl E. Foley; three sons, Paul L. Keefer, Clifton Andrew Foley and John F. Keefer Jr.; one brother, Jesse Lambert, and one granddaughter, Paula Sue Keefer Chaney.
Mrs. Foley attended the Green Spring Assembly of God Church, Green Spring. She enjoyed visiting with relatives and friends.
Surviving are one son, Carl E. Foley, Oxford, N.C.; two daughters, Nora I. Glaze, Green Spring, with whom Mrs. Foley resided, and Betty Jane Shaw, Leesburg, N.C.; three brothers, Wesley Lambert, Short Gap, Donald Lambert, Wiley Ford, and Jim Iser, Short Gap; three sisters, Mary Edna Smith, Ridgeley, Alice Shanholtz, Springfield, and Helen Ganoe, Cumberland; 17 grandchildren; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, on Thursday, Dec. 23 from 10 a.m. until time of service.

HARRY J. DETER SR.
FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - Harry J. Deter Sr., 79, of Dan's Run Road, Fort Ashby, died Tuesday, May 25, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
He was born April 16, 1920, in Cumberland, the son of the late Charles L. Deter and Elizabeth (Lindner) Deter.
He retired as a machinist at ABL where he worked for many years.
Harry was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of Farrady Post #24 American Legion, Frostburg, and a member of the Church of Annunciation Catholic Church in Fort Ashby.
He is survived by his wife, Marian T. (Mason) Deter; two sons, Harry J. Deter Jr., Whitinsville, Mass., Timothy A. Deter, Santa Fe Springs, Calif.; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Malaga, Herndon, Va., Mary Catherine Klein, Long Beach, Calif.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, William H. Deter, Jacksonville, Fla.
Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Leasure-Stein Funeral Home, 230 Baltimore Ave., Cumberland.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Annunciation in Fort Ashby with Father James J. Chetock as celebrant.
