VERA A. ECKARD
RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Vera Alma (Breedlove) Eckard, 81, of Ridgeley, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999 at her residence.
Born July 12, 1918, in Los Angeles, Calif., she was the daughter of the late Clyde W. and Aretta (Cosner) Breedlove. She also was preceded in death by her husband, George Eckard in 1977.
Mrs. Eckard was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Gold Star Post 6452, Ridgeley, where she served as chaplain for over 25 years.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald Eckard, NC, and Donald Eckard, Short Gap; two daughters, Sandi Blubaugh, La Vale, Md. and Carol Garlitz, Frostburg, Md.; one sister, Pearl Ross, New Cumberland, Ohio; a half-sister, Reva Thomas, Oakland, Md.; two half-brothers, Arlie Breedlove, Accident, Md., and Larry Breedlove, Shardon, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ed Dickel officiating.
Serving as pall bearers are William Skidmore, Chris Eckard, Travis Blubaugh, William Benson, Sam Allison and John Garlitz.

MARY Y. EDENHART
RIDGELEY, W.Va. - Mary Yvonne Edenhart, 78, of Ridgeley, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, at Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 31, 1921, in Elkins, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Theresa (Lloyd) Ratliff. She also was preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Barker; three brothers, Lloyd, Clifford and Donald Ratliff; and one grandson, Joseph Adams Jr.
Mrs. Edenhart was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church. She was a charter member and the first secretary of the Ladies Auxiliary of Knobley Mountain Post 136, American Legion.
Survivors include her husband, Robert F. Edenhart; two daughters, Linda Sue Kines, Ridgeley, and Mary Jane Jones, Lewisburg; four grandchildren, Aaron F. Adams Sr., Eric Grayson, Andrea Ceritano and Austen Jones; and two great-grandsons, Aaron F. Adams Jr. and Quentin Michael Adams.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Edward R. Dickel officiating.

ANNA D. EVANS
GRAFTON, W.Va. - Anna D. Evans, 68, of West Main Street, Grafton, formerly of Oakland, Md., died Sunday, July 18, 1999, at the Rosewood Nursing Home, Grafton.
Born March 30, 1931, in Oakland, she was the daughter of the late Gilmer S. and Anna T. (Duckworth) Tichnell. She also was preceded in death by her husband, John Evans Jr., in 1982; two sisters; and three brothers.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda L. Anderson, Loch Lynn, Patty A. Jackson, Cumberland, and Tina M. Rucker, Grafton; one sister, Florence Carrington, Hueytown, Ala.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 21, 1999, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Tepper officiating.
GEORGE W. EVANS
KEYSER, W.Va. - George W. "Jim"Evans, 52, of HC 84, Box 60, Keyser, died Friday, Aug. 20, 1999, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born Jan. 27, 1947, at Keyser, he was a son of Viola V. (Winters) Evans, of Keyser, and the late George Sherman Evans.
Mr. Evans was retired as the assistant fire chief and professional firefighter with the 167th Airlift Wing, Shepherd Field, Air National Guard in Martinsburg with nearly 11 years of service. Prior to his employment in Martinsburg, he was employed as a Mineral County school bus driver for many years. He was a member of the Laureldale United Methodist Church and Davis Lodge 51 AF & AM, and was a member of the Demolay in his youth.
Mr. Evans was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War. After serving three years with the U.S. Army, he attained the rank of master sergeant and has served with the Air National Guard since 1970. On Aug. 4, 1999, under order by the President of the United States, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for outstanding service to the United States in his position as Assistant Fire Chief at Shepherd Field.
A 1964 graduate of Keyser High School, he was enrolled in the ROTC program during his high school career. He was a member of the New Creek Volunteer Fire Department, where he had served as chief and held numerous other offices.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Connie E. (Ridings) Evans; four daughters, Kim Dankert and husband Jerry, Midland, Mich., Darcy Evans, Greensburg, Ind., Jennie Lynch and husband Bill, Walkersville, Md., and Debbie Dennis, Keyser; one son, Mike Dennis and wife Brenna, Richmond, Va.; one brother, Philip E. Evans and wife Marty, Keyser; one sister, Barbara V. Miller and husband Bob, Keyser; nine grandchildren, J.R., Cody, Joey, Caleb, Tori, Tia, Evan, Luke and Toby; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jack Sanders officiating.
Jim will be taken to his final resting place at Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, aboard Truck No. 38-13, "Luverne,"the most recent acquisition of the New Creek Fire Department. Jim was one of the instrumental members in the company working to purchase the truck.
Military rites will be accorded at the gravesite as will be honors by the New Creek Fire Department.
Members of the New Creek Fire Department will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Sunday at 6:45 p.m.

ROY S. EVANS
KEYSER, W.Va. - Roy S. Evans, 79, of Old Orchard Drive, Keyser, died Thursday, June 17, 1999, at his home with all his children at his side.
Born Aug. 7, 1919, in Greenland Gap, he was the son of the late Benjamin H. and Maude (Lemon) Evans. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite G. (Kight) Evans, on Oct. 25, 1992; a sister, Jesse Evans; a brother, Dale Evans; and a grandson, Jeffrey L. Evans.
He is survived by a sister, Mae Deberry, Oakland, Md.; two sons, Danny J. and wife, Joan, Keyser, and Wayde S. and wife, Lori, Dawson, Md.; a daughter, Margaret I. (Evans) Summers and husband, James, Keyser; five grandchildren, Heather (Summers) VanSickle, Jeremiah Summers, Christopher Evans, Timothy Evans and Sarah Evans; and a great-grandson, Jonathan Evans. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Evans was a loving husband and father, and honored friend and co-worker. He was a particularly skilled craftsman.
He retired from Westvaco in 1985 with 38 years in the maintenance department. He was a highly decorated veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army and Army Air Corps from 1939-1945 in the European and Pacific Theaters. He was a Past Commander and life member of American Legion Post 52, Piedmont, and a member of Queen's Point VFW Post #6775, McCoole, Md.
He was an active and dedicated member of the Piedmont Presbyterian Church.
Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, Md., on Saturday, June 19, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday, June 20, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Harry Coleman and the Rev. John Walker officiating.
Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens on Cash Valley Road, LaVale, Md.
