CLARA F. IMAN
KEYSER, W.Va. - Clara F. Iman, 86, formerly of Fort Ashby and Keyser, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999, at the Grant County Nursing Home, Petersburg.
Born on Dec. 14, 1912, in West Chester, Iowa, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Irene (Plummer) Bosley. She also was preceded in death by one son, Bruce Bosley; two brothers, Clarence and Jack Bosley; one sister, Juanita Anderson Simpson; one adopted sister, Dora Barnes; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.
Mrs. Iman was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Patterson Creek.
Surviving are two sons, Dr. William E. Iman Jr. and wife, Ella Mae, Woodstock, Va., Samuel E. Iman and wife, Frances, South Hill, Va.; one daughter, Irene E. Riggleman and husband, the Rev. Availen Riggleman, Maysville; daughter-in-law, Lila Lu Sommerlott, Fort Ashby; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
ERVIN M. KESNER SR.
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Ervin Marshall ``Bud" Kesner Sr., 54, of 8370 13th St. N., Apt. B24, St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Fort Ashby, W.Va., died Thursday, May 27, 1999, at Potomac Valley Hospital where he had been a patient for two weeks.
Born July 8, 1944, in Fort Ashby, he was the son of the late Ervin Richard Kesner and the late Irene Grace (Malone) Kesner.
Mr. Kesner Sr. was a retired professional chef.
Surviving are a special friend, Jacques Gauvin; two sons, Ervin M. Kesner Jr. and wife Tonya, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Kenneth R. Kesner and wife Tina, Cumberland, Md.; a brother, Jack Kesner, Franklin, W.Va; three sisters, Sue Lechliter, Fort Ashby, W.Va., Emma Tyree, Fort Ashby, W.Va., and Grace Staggs, Short Gap, W.Va.; and four grandchildren.
His remains will be cremated at the Cumberland Crematory, Merritt-Adams Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, Md.
Interment services will take place at a later date.
GEORGE R. HORNE
ROMNEY, W.Va. - George Raymond Horne, 90, of Romney, died Sunday, May 2, 1999, at the Hampshire Health Care Center, Romney.
Born Sept. 7, 1908, in Frederick, Iowa, he was the son of the late Eli W. and Estella (Story) Horne. He also was preceded in death by one grandson; one brother; and one sister.
Mr. Horne was employed by various telephone companies in Illinois, North Carolina, Georgia and West Virginia, in various managerial positions from 1941-1967. He retired as General Manager from GTE in Romney.
He was past president of the Independent Telephone Pioneer Association. He was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Romney Lions Club.
Surviving are his wife, Lucy Violet (Johnston) Horne; one son, Paul R. Horne, Los Crucez, N.M.; two daughters, Christina A. Riley, Alpharetta, Ga., and Joyce H. Lee, Corvallis, Oregon; one sister, Cora Tostberg, Quincy, Ill.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, on Wednesday, May 5, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Frank Meadows officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Hampshire County Heart Association.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney.
MADGE W. KELLEY
KEYSER, W.Va. - Madge W. Kelley, 84, a resident of Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home, formerly of 500 Carskadon Lane, Keyser, died on Friday, May 14, 1999, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born on July 5, 1914, in Keyser, she was the daughter of the late William and Lucille (Liller) Miers.
Mrs. Kelley was a former Sales Clerk at Shapiro's Store, Keyser, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Keyser.
Surviving are her daughter, Judy Melody and husband, Michael, Keyser; two grandchildren, Philip Evans, Morgantown, W.Va., and Nathan Melody, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two brothers, William "Huck" Miers and wife, Harriette, Keyser, and Estel "Eck" Miers, Keyser.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, May 17, 1999, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Samuel E. Starling Jr. officiating.
Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
KATHERINE G. KESSEL
PETERSBURG, W.Va. - Katherine G. (Lewis) Kessel, 87, of Petersburg, died Monday, July 19, 1999, at Shawnee Springs Rehab and Health Center, Winchester, Va.
Born May 18, 1912, in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Ruth (Kuykendall) Lewis. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Otis B. Kessel, on Aug. 22, 1981; two brothers; a half brother; and six sisters.
Mrs. Kessel was a member of the Petersburg First Baptist Church since 1924.
Surviving are one son, Jimmy E. Kessel, Shepherdstown; one daughter, Elaine Kessel Inskeep, Petersburg; four grandchildren, Joseph Kessel, John Kessel, Therese Ann (Kessel) Hall, and Stacie Inskeep; four great-grandchildren; two sisters; one brother; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, Tuesday and Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Blackwell and the Rev. Don Flanigan officiating.

J. ALLAN HOVEY JR.
GREEN SPRING, W.Va. - J. Allan Hovey Jr., of Green Spring, died Wednesday, July 21, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md. The cause of death was a heart attack.
Mr. Hovey was born on May 13, 1922, in Cambridge, Mass., the son of late J. Allan Hovey Sr. and Lois Clark Hovey.
He was educated at public schools in Rochester, N.Y., and held Ph.D. and master's degrees from Columbia University in New York City and an A.B., Phi Beta Kappa, from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania.
Mr. Hovey was an International Relations Specialist with the Government Accounting Office (GAO) from 1976 until he retired in 1993. He was previously employed as Vice President of Radio Free Europe and as Executive Director of the American Committee on United Europe, which laid the groundwork for what is now the European Union. He was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army during World War II and served in the Occupation of Japan. At the age of 76 Mr. Hovey became a playwright. His play, "Aye, Shakespeare," premiered at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco in November 1998.
Mr. Hovey is survived by his wife, Peggy Hovey; a daughter, Anne Elisabeth Brandolini, Clifton, Va.; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Lindsey; a step-daughter, Devon Streit, Alexandria, Va.; and two brothers, Monroe A. Hovey, Romney, W.Va., and Robert T. Hovey, Horseheads, N.Y.
At his request the body was cremated and interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests friends to donate to WETA Public Television, 2775 S. Quincy St., Arlington, VA 22206, Attn: Ms. Keremy Bachelor.
