JOSEPH E. MEADOWS
FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - Joseph E. "Gene" Meadows, 62, of Fort Ashby, died Aug. 8, 1999 at Sacred Heart Hospital Hospice Unit.
Born June 10, 1937, in Matoaca, Va., he was the son of Joseph S. Meadows, Frostproof, Fla., and the late Rosa L. (Seay) Meadows.
He served in the U.S. Army for four years, with three years spent in Verdun, France.
Mr. Meadows was retired from the Celanese Corp., where he had been a machinist.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou (Wagoner) Meadows; two daughters, Lea Ann Pearson, and husband, Phillip, Bedford, Pa., and Jill Small, and significant other, Kevin Rhoads, Rawlings, Md.; five grandchildren, April Myers, and husband, Ryan, Aaron Pearson, Amber Pearson, Austin Pearson, and Joanna Small; two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Brooke Myers; two brothers, Phillip C. Meadows, and wife, Kay, and James Wilton Meadows, and fiancee, Sherry Madary, all of Fort Ashby; and his beloved cat, Patches.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home Inc., Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, with the Rev. Dallas Forren officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Neff, Johnny Steward, Nicholas Meadows, Ryan Meadows, Nathanial Wagoner, and Craig Meadows.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 111 S. George St., Cumberland, Md. 21502.
HAZEL R. NEWMAN
KEYSER, W.Va. - Hazel R. Rhodes Newman, 81, of Rt. 4, Box 40, Keyser, more recently a resident of Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home, died Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born Aug. 18, 1918, at Amaranth, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles Wesley and Arminta (Meadows) Stanley. She also was preceded in death by her first husband, James A. "Dusty" Rhodes on March 1, 1961; four brothers, Ott, Lawrence, Ken and Randall; and four sisters, Edith, Clara, Velma and Mattie.
Mrs. Newman was formerly employed with the Perfection Garment Company and the Bread Box Stores in Keyser and Cumberland. She was a member of the Sunnyside Church of the Brethren, New Creek.
Surviving are her husband, Lewis P. Newman; two sons, Jeffrey D. Rhodes and wife Kelly, Cumberland, Md., and James R. "Randy" Rhodes and wife Rita, Shepherdstown; four daughters, Judith R. Vincent and husband Bert, Los Altos, Calif., Joann R. Parrish and husband Ed, Keyser, Mary Lou Wilson and husband George, Keyser, and Sandi Ketterman, Moorefield; two sisters, Mary Souder, Richmond, Va., and Catherine Mathias, Keyser; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Herman L. Baliles and the Rev. Mary Aronhalt officiating.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.

LAWRENCE D. MEADOWS
FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - Lawrence Dale Meadows, 71, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999, at his earthly home in Fort Ashby. He went to his spiritual home, riding on a gust of wind, guided by a beautiful rainbow.
Born May 8, 1927, in Milton, W.Va., he was the son of the late Andrew and Winifred (Wallace) Meadows. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Reba Joycelyn Meadows.
Loved ones surviving are three siblings, Elizabeth Perry and husband Earl, Milton, W.Va., David Meadows and wife Lavern, Milton, W.Va., and Donald Meadows and wife Charleen, Montgomery, Ala.; four children, Lynnette Booth, Orlando, Fla., Donnette Ostlie and husband Daryl, Hatton, N.D., Larry Meadows and wife Dolores, Orlando, Fla., and Rebecca Kimble and husband Charles, Fort Ashby.
"Paw Paw"will be sadly missed by his ten grandchildren, Bonnie Roberts, Eric Ostlie, Amie (Kimble) Gannon, Melissa Bush, Nathan Ostlie, Neal Ostlie, Dara Ostlie, Charlotte Kimble, Renee Kimble and Joycelyn Kimble.
Also missing him will be his six great-grandchildren, Scotti, Ryan and Ashley Roberts, Shelby and Andrew Bush, and Liam Gannon; along with several nieces and nephews, and his new grandson-in-law, Scott Gannon.
Dale graduated from Milton High School.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in the Pacific.
After serving his country, he went on to graduate from Barber College in Wheeling, W.Va.
He was Baptist by faith.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home Inc., Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The family then will accompany Lawrence Dale Meadows to his final resting place at Glen Haven Memorial Park, Orlando, Fla., on Tuesday.
JANE A. OURS
KEYSER, W.Va. - Jane A. Ours, 76, of Route 3, Box 3215, Eagle Lane, Keyser, died Tuesday, March 30, 1999, at her residence.
Born on March 25, 1923, at Keyser, she was a daughter of the late Allison M. and Agnes H. (Bean) Cannon.
Mrs. Ours was a retired nurse, having been employed with both the Potomac Valley Hospital and the Allegany County Nursing Home. She was a member of the Keyser Assembly of God Church.
Surviving are her husband, Walter F. Ours Jr.; and several cousins.
Friends may call at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Boyce officiating.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
LELDON O. NEALIS
AUGUSTA, W.Va. - Leldon O'dell Nealis, 73, of HC-71, Box 19, Augusta, died Monday, March 8, 1999, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 23, 1925, at Hoy, a son of the late Charles Nealis and Lula Smith Nealis.
Mr. Nealis was retired from Zuckerman Steel. He was a member of the Tearcoat Church of the Brethren, Augusta.
He is survived by his wife, Kay F. (Wells) Nealis; one daughter, Louane Kay Alderman, Bloomery; two sons, Dwight A. Nealis, Capon Bridge, Wayne E. Nealis, Romney; two sisters, Leona Nealis, Luray, Va., Nellie Smith, Romney; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.
Friends will be received at the McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services will be conducted at the Tearcoat Church of the Brethren, Augusta, on Thursday, March 11, 1999, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Kenneth Dolan officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Alderman, Jesse Alderman, Daniel Nealis, Matthew Alderman, Steve Zuckerman and Jim Brown.
