ANNA D. VOLKIN
ROMNEY, W.Va. - Anna Dale Volkin, 79, of Romney, died Wednesday, March 17, 1999, at the Hampshire Memorial Hospital, Romney.
Born Jan. 7, 1920, in Romney, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Dailey M. and Anna Carson (Ewers) Martin. She also was preceded in death by her husband, David Volkin, in 1988; one brother, Dr. Frank Martin; and one sister, Mrs. Linda Martin Levings.
After a teaching career that spanned more than 45 years, Mrs. Volkin retired as reading supervisor from the Hampshire County Board of Education. She was a member of the Romney Presbyterian Church, the General Federation of Woman's Club, and the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.
Surviving are one son, Michael M. Volkin, Romney; and one brother, Michael M. Martin Sr., Frostburg.
The family will receive friends at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral will be at the Romney Presbyterian Church on Saturday, March 20, at 11 a.m. with Dr. John S. Franklin officiating.

N. HORTENSE TAYLOR
PETERSBURG, W.Va. - Nannie Hortense Taylor, 92, of Petersburg, and a resident since May 21, 1998, at the Hampshire Health Care Center, Romney, died Friday, Nov. 26, 1999.
Born Aug. 29, 1907, in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late James G. and Cynthia (Graham) Plauger. She also was preceded in death by her husband, John Taylor, on Aug. 26, 1986; and three brothers.
Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Marvin Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are one son, Keith L. Taylor and wife Lucy, Romney; one granddaughter, Denise Turner and husband K.B., Denton, Md.; two great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kara Turner; one sister, Mary P. VanMeter, Petersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. George Widmyer officiating.
CHARLES L. SHREVE
KEYSER, W.Va. - Charles L. Shreve, 85, of HC 84, Box 86, Keyser, W.Va., died Friday, May 28, 1999, at the Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg, W.Va.
Born on Jan. 31, 1914, at Maysville, W.Va., he was a son of the late Arnold and Miranda (Sears) Shreve. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Edith 'Virginia' (Haslacker) Shreve on Jan. 30, 1992; and by one brother, Ray Shreve.
Mr. Shreve was a retired mechanic at the Westvaco Luke Mill with 37 and one-half years of service. He also was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater of Operations. He was a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church, Antioch, W.Va., and the Kelly-Mansfield Post 52 American Legion, Piedmont, W.Va.
Surviving are one daughter, Loretta Amtower and husband Leon, Burlington, W.Va.; two sons, Darl Shreve and wife Brenda, Grantsville, Md., and Kevin Shreve and wife Judy, Keyser, W.Va.; two sisters, Nellie Tichnell, Swanton, Md., and Kate Halterman, Maysville, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Petula Staggs, Tiffney Custer, Darl Shreve II, Daphne Bennear, Caleb Shreve and Zachary Shreve; and four great-grandchildren, Kirstin Custer, Brianna Custer, Morgan Custer and Chase Bennear.
Friends may call at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Antioch United Methodist Church on Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Wade Sirk and the Rev. Tom Anderson officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the services.

NEVADA M. SHROUT
KEYSER, W.Va. - Nevada Marie Shrout, 88, of 25 Vernon St., Keyser, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, at the Somerset County Hospital, Somerset, Pa.
Born on July 15, 1910, at Blaine, she was a daughter of the late Erner and Pearl (McCauley) Paugh. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Van Dale Shrout, on June 18, 1957; and by a son, William Willard Shrout, on May 8, 1965.
Mrs. Shrout was a homemaker and was a member of the Cross United Methodist Church, Cross.
She is survived by two sons, Daniel Dale 'Donald' Shrout, and wife, Maude, and Harry Harold 'Buzz' Shrout, and fiancee Anita Hardman, all of Keyser; two daughters, Marion Marie Miller and husband, Charlie, Somerset, and Louella Louise James and husband, Pingy, West Salem, Ohio; one brother, Lloyd Willard Paugh, Barnum; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

DELORES SHUMAKER
KEYSER, W.Va. - Delores (Chenoweth) Shumaker, 67, of Route 4, Box 238, Stoney Run Road, Keyser, died Sunday, May 9, 1999, at the Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
Born Dec. 3, 1931, at Elkins, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Okey E. and Eva (Canfield) Chenoweth. married in 1976 to Arthur R. "Ozzie" Clark, he preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1994. She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret James and Doris Shaffer and by two brothers, Herbert Chenoweth and her twin brother, Ronald Chenoweth.
Mrs. Shumaker was a retired licensed practical nurse with 30 years service at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Hampshire Memorial Hospital, and Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home. She was a member of the Rees Chapel United Methodist Church, New Creek, and also attended the Fountain United Brethren in Christ Church. She was actively involved in a variety of church activities including the church choir at Rees Chapel and the Shepherding Committee and "Seniors on the Move" at Fountain United Brethren in Christ.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Boyce-Houser Post #41, American Legion, Keyser, and enjoyed sewing and traveling.
Surviving are her husband, Willis R. Shumaker Sr.; four daughters, Deborah H. Amtower and husband Robert, Keyser, W.Va., Rhonda K. McDonald and husband Robert, Troutville, Va., Roberta L. Jones and husband Carl, New Creek, W.Va., and Karla D. Dick and husband L. Michael, Broadway, Va.; five stepsons, Rodger Clark and wife Barbara, Keyser, W.Va., Allan Clark, Cumberland, Md., Willis R. Shumaker Jr. and wife Diana, Ridgeley, W.Va., Gene R. Shumaker and wife Sandy, Stephens City, Va., and Donald W. Shumaker and wife Cindy, Westernport, Md.; one stepdaughter, Diana L. Wimer and husband Charles, Keyser, W.Va.; six brothers, Harold Chenoweth, Elkins, W.Va., Okey Chenoweth Jr., Oakland, N.J., Clair Chenoweth, Bridgeport, W.Va., Wayne Chenoweth, Elkins, W.Va., Loren Chenoweth, Elkins, W.Va., and Robert Neil Chenoweth, Elkins, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rees Chapel United Methodist Church, New Creek, W.Va., on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Barbara Starling and the Rev. Michael Dean officiating. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services.
Interment will be in the Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.

MARION F. SIMMONS
FORT ASHBY, W.Va. - Marion Frances (Chase) Simmons, 87, of Fort Ashby, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born Sept. 24, 1911, in Ridgeley, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Flora B. (Albright) Chase.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, William C. Simmons; two sisters, Ruth Baker and Margie Hunter; and three brothers, John "Bud" Chase, Paul Chase and Richard "Dick" Chase.
Mrs. Simmons attended Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one brother, Robert Chase, a resident at Dawn View Manor Nursing Home; a sister-in-law, Edith Chase, Furnace Acres; and several loving nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home Inc., Route 28, Fort Ashby, on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
The service will be held on Saturday, April 24, 1999, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, with the Rev. Dallas Forren officiating.
